So, lets get back to one of the most controversial skills ever involved into WoWS, and WGs decision to leave it in the game, although A LOT of playerbase specifically said they don't want that abomination in the game. First things first, for those who don't remember, when the skill was introduced, there was a huge uproar on the forums / reddit / whatever, and (IMO) for a good reason. People tought that it will be a last nail in the coffin for any attempt of sneaky play, ambushing your opponent, popping out from where he doesn't expect you, doing some weird thing alltogether etc. And sadly, it was. IF someone chooses to use it that is. Now, whats the biggest problem with the skill? As people allready stated, its a form of built in wallhack, so you cannot play hide and seek anymore, because you are (more or less) always detected in one form if your hunter or your target has RPF. So, lets jump to the second part of the story. After all the initial uproar, WG in all their glory came and said, "don't worry, everythings fine", although as I said A LOT of people once again didn't belive them. And in their infinite wisdom, they released the skill as it is, completely disregarding a metric ton of videos showing them how that skill can be easily abused to blind torp, to hunt down dds, to prepare yourself for people ambushing you etc. But who cares what people say, right, and there we have it, RPF is in the game. Then comes the third part, and somewhat more recent one. After people were still complaining about the skill, and it was in the game for some time, WG once again came to extinguish the fire (by pouring gasoline ofc, how else), and shared they wisdom and sekret stats with us regular plebs. Long story short, they have decided that skill is fine, and doesn't need any changes. Reasons? "Well, in our infinite wisdom we checked our sekret stats and found out there isn't that much people that are using that skill, so its fine." So, if there is not enough people abusing something broken, then it means its not broken right? RIGHT? No, not really, but hey, lets pretend thats the case. Now for the fourth and final part, and the main reason for this topic ( that was just lenghty intro): Since CB finished just some time ago, Christmas, NY and everything is over, lets get back to this thing. WG said its fine because not a lot of people are using it (they have stats about it). Now, can you share that wisdom with us once again, and tell us how much teams from lets say top 20 clans had one or multiple ships with RPF included? There is no way in hell someone can once again tell me its perfectly fine skill, when it was MANDATORY for any higher level gameplay. Even if you were not part of CBs yourself, you had numerous streams / vids etc showing that top teams had RPF on ALMOST EVERY ship they had in the game. We played CBs, we got to league 1 in Typhoon ( or whatever the name was for 1/1) and we had RPF in every team that played CBs. So WG, now check the stats again (if you can), check the amount of teams using RPF in higher lvl competitive gameplay, and consider if it is just a tad, just a little bit on a strong part when every team considers that its mandatory to have it on multiple ships. @Kandly @MrConway Could you be so kind to share the insight of that stats with us, and to give us some more info tl;dr version: read only after bolded part
  2. Okay, first of all please dont bash me too hard. I tried it on my Belfast and almost all of my DDs and its not worth the 4 points at all. It only comes into play 1 out of 3 matches and for a short period of time, there are far better skills/builds which are always active and useful. I even respecced my Fletcher because all the information it gave me was useless, like "there is a DD at B" - when they have 6 DDs. Thanks i dont need a 4 point skill to be sure there will be somebody heading B. Or "hey, you, there is Yamato reversing behind that cliff, 5 km from you", oh thank you its only visible by everybody i really needed that info. I currently use it only on my Kamikaze R for further testing but i am pretty sure i will switch back to AFT and use my brain instead to win the games... On a side note: IFHE is useless on american 127mm (tested on Benson, Fletcher, Flint) i dont know what are the people smoking who say 12 shell hits on the superstructure of a NewMexico for 2000 dmg is an amazing improvement compered to a regular build.
  3. Simple question. There are enough RPF-threads out there, i want to collect some informations from the playerbase. It is not about your position towards the skills, just the things you experience after patch 0.6.0.

    RDF is there another way?

    90% of the player base responding to this poll http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/71283-implementation-of-rdf/ are unhappy with RDF in its current form I am sure that considering it has got all the way to public test, that RDF is coming to the game regardless of all the negative rep it is picking up. So, is there another way? I would like to hope there is. So in a constructive way, how could it enter the game in a more acceptable format? As RDF is a passive skill, it cannot be turned off. So, how about making it "ping" like sonar would. Every 30 or 45 seconds, you get a RDF ping that shows the sector that the nearest enemy ship is? It could be a broad sector, between 30 and 45 degrees. The player being pinged should still get the warning on screen like in the current test to warn them, but at least they know that for the next 45 seconds they have the opportunity to adjust their positioning without being tracked? I am just trying to be constructive.
  5. Dear members of the Wargaming Design bureau, I'm writing this letter to you, so you can avoid another PR-desaster. After the thing with the Alabama and the Christmas-Campaign, it seems direly needed. I understand that the choice between RDF and "Concealment Expert" is supposed to give us a choice between "seeing better" or "being seen". HOWEVER the concept of RDF is stupid. It hardcounteres "Concealment Expert" it makes stealth USELESS, and thereby ships with it. Replace it. What do you mean by "NO". I mean it. Just replace it. [...] WHAT???, you don't know what to replace it with that would give players a 'meaningful choice'? I have a solution: "Surveillance Expert". Grants +50% to the range of assured detection base range before upgrades (like the "Target Aquisition System Mod 1"). That would mean IF I ran a Tirpitz (or by that manner EVERY other ship) with that skill AND "Target Aquisition System Mod 1" I would get an area of 4km around me that every vessel would be detected in. Under normal circumstances that does not make a huge difference, but alike Concealment Expert it is situational and players who know how to make the most out of their ships capabilities will be able to use it well. Radar, and hydro would be unaffected. Yes I am aware that that could have huge implications. But considering the high tier meta, I seldomly find myself closer than 8km to the closest enemy. And low tier ships DON'T get the option to fit the upgrade to increase the assured detection of enemy ships. "Surveillance Expert" could/would give a meaningful choice. JUST DO IT!
