  1. Hi there, Gearing has 21mm plating in its mid-section. It made her a bit more resilient in a DD knife fight as some 127/128mm shells would shatter there. Due to the IFHE rework this extra protection is no more except against British DDs without IFHE. Was this done on purpose or merely overlooked?

When are the WOW folks going to add radar to the Gearing? it is unbelievable that OTHER TEIR 10 SHIPS HAVE IT AND GEARING DOES NOT. you spend all this time talking about the accuracy of your models and then leave out important features in the interest of fairness? Since when was WAR EVER fair. Is it fair that the Yamato can pen any ship in the game? lets get consistent here
  3. Hey everyone! Last week, I got my 2nd T10: Worcester. Such an amazing ship, I love her so much. The thing is: I don't know what line I should grind next. I'm doubting between these ships: Montana (currently at T7 Colorado) Conqueror (currently at T7 King George V) Minotaur (currently at T8 Edinburgh) Harugumo (currently at T8 Akizuki) Gearing (currently at T8 Benson) Midway (currently at T7 Ranger) Here is a link to my stats page, so you guys can see what ship class I like most and what ship class I perform best in (https://wows-numbers.com/player/540813098,TheRedboss/). I like cruisers most, but I now own 2 T10 cruisers so I wanna try to get a BB, DD or CV next. Please answer the poll so I can see what you guys think of it :D.   4. Hello everone! I hope that you are all fine and pwning ships. So 2 days ago I bought the Gearing and honestly I have no idea how to play her. I love the Fletcher. Its my favourite ship in the game and I really got used to her playstyle. Thats why probably sailing with the Gearing feels awkward, slow and well not that fun atm. So. Gearing players please give me some tips in how to be effective with the Gearing. I'm trying to build her as a torpedo boat. Can it work? :D Thanks ^-^

    Gearing - Yueyang

    the Gearing from the beginning was always very high in the water however, with the release of the Pan Asian TX Destroyer the Yueyang it showes even more the Gearing is only be a very slight imporvement over the Allen M Sumner class which the Yueyang is as you can see the Gearing should look be a bit lower in the water as it is now the Yueyang is too low however and both Destroyers should have about the same waterline as Fletcher
  7. Can someone explain why nearly same ships have so different profile? I mean why is gearing so much higher in water? Are deepwater torps so heavy weight or what - if its this case then I must point out that US soildiers are heavier than asians. Is WG planning to change Gearing to have at least similar height to Yueyang and not double?

    T10 downgrades

    Alright, so i pretty much stopped at the Fletcher like almost everybody else, because the Fletcher has better range on the guns, arguably better torps (in regards of reaction time), a lot better maneuverability, better camo and to top all of that it is Tier9, a bit softer matchmaking. To gain 1 more pewpew, you have to accept that the ship as a whole is worse. Okay lets accept it, i like my Fletcher, move on to the next line, lets try the Shimakaze. I am currently at the Yugumo, its an excellent boat but here comes my second shock: it is also superior in almost all ways to the Tier10. Yugumo has better guns (rof, dispersion and range), a better maneuverability, better camo and it can launch 16 torps with the booster instead of 15. After all this, i have only 1 question left:

    Gearing - Skills and upgrades

    Hi! She's not a simple ship, I made many rebuild, my last is a hybrid one. - fastest torpedo speed, shorter range - mid torpedo reload (without skill) - mid main battery reload (without reload upgrade) - adrenaline rush boost My main target is an universal combination what is useful almost in all situation and maximize potential damage. What's your opinion?
  10. Hi, all of you. I am using same captain on Gearing and Sims. I was thinking about using my last two points to get torpedo acceleration. But I am a bit worried about how much influence it will have on the Sims performance. Has any of you been using this particular perk? Any thoughts with some arguments would be appreciated. For all the stat lowers I am 48% WR, suicidal (not on purpose!) player. As much as I think that Gearing is OP this occasional hits at max torpedo range are buffing my stats Torpedo acceleration should lower this unpredictable hit count but I am worried that without this unpredictable hits my Sims will be worthless :s
  11. Far i remember, gearing got nerf, resulting on bigger arc at his shells at that time, due the stealth fire. So, since stealth fire is long gone, why not give back the arc gearing had at that time, before it got nerfed? Just a adiea btw ^^ . the ship its still good atm, but wouldnt hurt for it to get his arc back, was long they dont increase the HE damage like they did to Khaba, so that wouldnt make it to OP.

Recent Gearing game with Premium account:(RECORD || 426K DAMAGE || GEARING - World of Warships - ) 4285K base XP 426K DMG after bills are payed: 591K credtis no cammo or modifiers used ------------------------------- Nov. 2016 game, also Premium:(World of Warships - Gearing Torpedo Whisperer - ) 2896K base XP 124K DMG after modifiers and bills: 615K Without modifiers (inc. permanent cammo): around 450K credits --------------------------------- So the difference between a 4.3K base XP + 426K dmg battle and a 2.9K base XP + 124K dmg is around 140K credits? Does this mean that a battle like: 1389 base XP and 300K dmg (diferences between both battles) would give, after bills and modifiers:-200Kcredits? Somehow this doesn't look fair for the first player but maybe i'm missing something.

Hab mal ne Frage an die DD-Fahrer: (Forensuche nach "Torpedo" und "Torpedogeschwindikeit brachte nichts Brauchbares) Wie groß ist der subjektive/objektive Mehrwert des Skills mit der Torpedobeschleunigung. Spiele mit dem Gedanken die restlichen 3 Skillpunkte nachdem Kapitän mit 1-5 durchgeskillt ist auf den Torpedbeschleunigungs-Skill zu legen. Bei der Gearing wär das gefühlt (keine persönliche Erfahrung) gar nicht so unsinnig. Die 13,2km statt 16,5km spielen bei meiner Spielweise keine Rolle. Einzige Frage an diejenigen mit mehr Erfahrung wäre, ob durch die Geschwindigkeit wirklich mehr Treffer erzeugt werden (DD kommt langsamer weg, Cruiser und BBs können schlechter durchzirkeln oder weniger gut abdrehen?). Kurzum, sind die +5 Knoten signifikant spürbar?

    Gearing Skills and Upgrades

    Just unlocked the Gearing and looking for advice on loading up the captain and ship, and will the 5.7 update have any influence on choices? I've run the Fletcher with a 14 point captain and am seriously contemplating not taking CE so I can keep BFT and TAE. The Gearing however, with the detection range of 6.6km and gun range of only 11.1km leaves a very small invisi-fire window. Can some experienced Gearing players give me some recommendations on the skills and upgrades. I have a 15 point skipper ready to go, about 100k exp to 16 point.

    0.5.7 Gearing and Shimakaze highlights

    Recently returned to the game after a long break and yesterday on stream I was requested to play first the Gearing and then the Shimakaze right after. Both ships are still extremely potent. Gearing game; 163k damage, 7 kills, 3595 XP. Shimakaze game: 147k damage, 5 kills, 3446 XP
  17. Bonjour à tous, j'ai depuis peu débloqué le Gearing, installé les améliorations, transféré mon meilleur capitaine et à ma grande surprise ce navire ne vaut rien. J'ai perdu plus de 3 km de portée canon par rapport au Fletcher, les torpilles mettent un temps infini à se recharger et le niveau de dissimilation en font un petit croiseur mal armé. Je comprend mieux maintenant pourquoi avec mon Fletcher je survivais toujours aux Gearings engagés. Lorsque je joue avec ce navire, il m'est impossible de pouvoir rentrer dans mes frais. Il me faut à chaque fois quelques parties avec le Fletcher, et son moins bon capitaine, pour pouvoir récolter l'argent pour remettre en état le Gearing. Autant dire que c'est démotivant au possible et ne m'incite pas à investir dans d'autres niveau 10. Vite messieurs les développeurs, une mise à jour sur les destroyers américains, que leur niveau 10 soit meilleur que leur niveau 9. Je vous suggère d'améliorer la portée de ses canons, sa vitesse et le temps de chargement de ses torpilles, quelle puisse être équivalente au Fletcher.

    This is ridiculous - The Gearing

    I know there's a "Ships" subforum but nobody even replies there or views the threads so I decided to post this here. Is the Gearing for real? While I love the guns ETC the state of higher tier DDs is atrocious, every single shell and I do mean SINGLE shell takes out a module. Let's ignore the ridiculous Health on the turrets that explode for no reason(on the Gearing), The speed is ridiculously low, We get set on fire too fast and USN DD's HE barely sets other people on fire. For instance I was chased by an Atago(That appeared behind an Island at about 7km), He got into my range and I couldn't shake him off because we have the same speed??(!) Really...? Besides the fact he hit me only 3 times, twice the first salvo took my steering and engine straight away without even a blink, Then I repair and he took my engine away leaving me helpless completely. Last stand Is not viable because Gearing has a terrible range on it's guns for a "Gunboat" I'm at 13.3 WITH AFT Even if it was realistic, USN DD's fill no niche, We're not fast at all, We can barely torpedo, Our guns barely damage larger ships with HE and Japanese DD's can put up a good enough fight that we do not counter them that bad as they'd make you think. I mean for real? A mediocre T8 Cruiser means certain death for a T10 DD... Does it ring good by you? There's a reason the Gearing is the most underperforming ship at T10, But it doesn't mean you should neglect it or not have a fleshed role for it at T10 games.

    Gearing - 1 module question

    Since torpedos reload are worser than the Fletcher the Torpedo Module that increase reload speed but increased their incapication chances is useless for Gearing, making more viable to use the reload and turret traverse module instent? Think it can be obvious question, but could a gearing player confirm me this? Thank you.
  20. The Fletcher turns faster than the Gearing yet the Gearing had two rudders vs. one on the Fletcher and it did turn faster, any one expect an upgrade on the Gearing?
  21. Have gotten plenty of requests to do a commentary on the Gearing, so finally got around to do just that. Posted it here as well since people might get some value out of it, especially if they are new to how the ship plays.

    0.5.1 is a Disaster for the Gearin

    There is no longer any point of playing the Gearing instead of the Shimakaze with 0.5.1 out. If their hotfix doesn't fix the terrible HE damage then probably one of the rarest ships in the game will completely disappear.
