  1. Hello dear forum users. As most of the regulars know, we had a CV rework discussion for a long time on top of the page. After almost a year, we removed the pin on it, to allow new and more topics emerge and have discussions about it. After months, the discussions about the CV related topics, had diluted down to a handful of subjects. So, in order to keep the forum clean, this will be the place for further CV related discussions, such as but not limited to; General interaction between surface ships and CVs, New developments on the CV mechanics, CV related MM issues, CV influence over different tiers, Discussions about individual CVs, Tactics, captain builds, counterplay, AA CVs in competitive mods. Please remember, all the forum rules are in place and try to stay away from personal discussions, arguments, stat shaming, etc. and try to keep it constructive!

    CVs remain overpowered

    Whilst I am inexperienced nevertheless I can appreciate that carriers are now grossly overpowered at Tiers 9 & 10. No other tactic other than sticking together as a large group for AA cover. Positioning is redundant. Frankly I am getting bored with that kind of gameplay.
  4. Before we start, I will admit that I don’t play Aircraft Carriers and this is no doubt going to rub someone up the wrong way. My issue with Aircraft Carriers is during the setup phase of the match (the first 1.5 minutes of the match where everyone is getting into position), this is usually when an Aircraft Carrier sends out its attack planes to do a bit of spotting before rocket spamming their chosen DD. Which 4 times out of 5 results in the DD losing 50-70% of its health before anyone in the game has fires a single shot (especially when the DD is bottom Tier). Now when this situation happens during the fighting part of the match, then its fair game the DD got themselves into that position it’s their fault for not considering the Aircraft Carrier when fighting with other ships, however when it happens in the setup it’s really bit infuriating and could almost be considered spawn killing. I didn’t start this thread to bash Aircraft Carriers (there's enough of that), I’ve Identified a problem as I see it so it’s only right that I suggest a possible solution. Which is to make it so that no aircraft can be launched until the first ship is spotted in the match (not the first ship spotted on the enemy team, just the first ship spotted), to make it fair across the board this should also include spotter planes. I think implementing this would: - Enable ships to get into position before the fight, promoting more tactical thinking - Force Aircraft Carrier players to consider their positioning of the carrier at the beginning of the match, rather than set up camp in the spawn until the brown trouser moment later when a BB launches a salvo at them - Give better data with regard how Aircraft Carrier’s perform in a match, leading to more accurate balancing of Aircraft Carrier vs ship AA rather than the pendulum swing that's been implied in so many other posts - I believe for a good Aircraft Carrier player this would not interfere with the gameplay or results and ideally there would be less complaining about Aircraft Carriers in game. But this is m perspective, What do you think?

Premium aircraft carriers are added in around april and they are available in store except Enterprise she's removed because she was OP and didn't get rebalanced i will talk more about Enterprise later, first some of them is not balanced like Saipan and GZ ,Kaga is great when they are top tier they do kinda okay but still same tier and uptiers gives them harsh time playing them. First Saipan She's a T8 american aircraft carrier she's using T10 aircrafts but with bad plane amount and bad restoration time , with changes to AA even lower tiers has easier time dealing with her. Its worse when she uptiered that its impossible to play with her that she unrileible trainer for American CVs. meanwhile ship itself is bad too ,she doesnt have great AA her hull is unarmored but she's fast. best way to buff her is decrease her restoration time to much useful time that she can be more playable. second Kaga She's T8 Japanese aircraft carrier using T7 aircraft with huge hangar space that she spams aircraft at the problem even tho her restoration is not great either worse then GZ somehow . That if she lost all her planes that means she can't replenish them easily but still her Torpedo bomber layout reminds prenerf hakuryu with 4 torpedos ,her dive bombers are HE that she can casually drop on anything. and her rockets umm i don't know much about them . overall she's great carrier i can't think great buff to her outside the all CVs needing Restoration time. Third and my favorite Graf Zeppelin She's T8 German Aircraft Carrier Graf Zeppelin, Even tho people say Zeppy is crap actually she isn't but still she needs more buffs and reworks. First her Stats are great , her speed 32 knots decent for carrier , she has meme secondaries that goes 9.4 km and trust me they are useful when french or any DD rushes to gun you down but AA isn't that eye opening. Her Attack aircrafts are actually very great their slow speed allows her to turn in DDs air Detection range and allows her attack again an again without loosing DD.and Damage is great with 40 mm pen . Her Torpedo bombers are meh speed is awesome but her damage is crap still that 228 knot speed allows her to quikcly spot enemy , attack enemy in lightning speed and sometimes they doesn't need healing. but Dive bombers are where it gets bad, they are Tricky to play. when you go full speed with bombers they attack acts like a BB shell goes from 30-20 degrees angle this is especially great for attacking cruisers because their citadel is lowely armored but it mostly misses gonna go into that, with second thing if you slow down to 155 knots you can drop from 90-80 degrees angle this allows you to drop on BBs and CVs and its more accurate for some reason but it still misses a lot it mostly doesn't go to where reticle says rather drops it into somewhere random. meanwhile her restoration time is better against Kaga or Saipan but still its not great against OP Enterprise way to buff her is : first Restoration time decrease it by 10 second it will be better and more usefull second rework her dive bomber reticle make it more accurate and give 1 more plane for squadron and attack flight . this will allow her to hit citadels more accurately and deal more damage with maximum of 20 k if she's lucky. others doesn't need much change maybe attack squadron to 9 planes with 3 as attack flight. Lastly Enterprise She's a T8 American aircraft carrier, best premium carrier in the game and best trainer for american CVs . first Hull her AA is pretty great , her speed is 32 knots base. She has Attack aircraft squadron of 12 aircraft with 3 per attack that's absurd even more is her fighter consumable has 10 plane thats more then any T10 with plus her damage with them is very great with only downside is you can't do what GZ can do but DMG is high enough to pass that downside. her Torpedo bombers are same as Lexington doesn't need to talk about these . her AP bombers where we get to OP part, she has 2 bombs per plane with damage of 6 k , 3 per attack that does 6 bombs , 6 x 6 means 36 k possible damage thats absurd and because of 6 bombs they are accurate aswell. GZ and Shoukaku can't reach that lvl , although yes her AP pen is lower etc but jeezus she can drop 20k on cruisers and German BBs . thats absurd and needs nerfs. her restoration time is best in class too that needs nerf too like her rocket has 42 base as i saw . or her bombers around 60 seconds or less . best way to balance her is following increasing her restoration time will make her more vulnurable to AA and make player think about his actions. changing her attack aircraft squadron to 9 will make a change. 3 per attack flight still but this will save some DDs interms of maximum DMG per squadron. changing her AP bomber squadron to GZ where she will have 8 bombers and 2 per attack allows to decrease DMG and delete potential because attack will become more inaccurate.plus damage will be around 24 k maximum and when thinked about some misses, damage will be lower drastically. this might make enterprise back in store and give our great trainer back.

    Totally Lost

    Mind you, I am an fairly experienced player with DD's, CC's, BB's. The new AC controls have me totally flummoxed. I can drive the Carrier. When I try to fly a flight of planes my view keeps jumping around, planes go one way while my view goes elsewhere, I cannot seem to get the reticle on the target in order to fire the weapons/drop torps or bombs... Is there a tutorial that can teach me the flight controls? How to aim? Etc... Submarines are looking better and better every time I try this new control system. HELP!!!

  9. I just got the tirpitz and am very confused on how to play her properly, when I try to play her mid range the guns do not hit anything. I know my aim could be better (I'm still getting used to her velocity) but i've managed to regularly get around 30000 to 40000 damage but i can't seen to get any higher. Any help on the general play-style of the tirpitz would be very appreciated. Also in my latest game i got deleted by a Taiho within 5 mins of the game start, any idea on how to survive that? (Apart from sticking close to friendly cruisers) I've currently got a 11 point captain with PM, AR, BFT, AFT, any suggestions of crew skills I could take. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to reply.
  10. Introduction This topic is entered in the game play section of the forum because it not only concerns Aircraft Carrier game play but overall game play in WOWS. The vaunted WOWS "Carrier rework" has been mentioned on and off over the past two years. During that time the current state of affairs of Aircraft Carriers in WOWS has not been significantly altered by meaningful changes let alone improvements. The only two noteworthy changes with regard to Carriers that have been implemented are (1) the new Flight Modes of the USA Carriers that was introduced at the end of 2017 and (2) the vastly increased number of new ships with very powerful Anti-Aircraft setups and/or Defensive Fire AA (for example ALABAMA, MASSACHUSETTS and the five new USA light cruisers). As a result there remains a virtual absence of meaningful WOWS Carrier changes to address some of the major Carrier related issues. The vaunted WOWS "Carrier rework" will in all probability not be implemented until somewhere around late 2019 at best, in other words it is a long term event. In order to improve the Carrier game play that currently exists in the short and medium term, that is in 2018-2019, some plausible solutions can be proposed and implemented to address the most serious issues for the benefit of both the opponents and proponents of Carriers in WOWS. This topic therefore aims to offers such possible and plausible solutions for the 2018-2019 short to medium term to improve Carrier game play from the perspective of both the opponents and proponents of Carriers. The solutions proposed are intended to be ones that can/should be fairly easily implemented by WOWS Developers with a minimum of effort and all need to lie within the framework of the current Carrier and general WOWS game play and game play mechanisms. In other words, the solutions proposed in this topic are NOT intended as radical solutions which are a full departure of the current WOWS Carrier game play and current overall WOWS game play. Instead the solutions proposed want to build on the strengths and possibilities of the current WOWS Carrier game play and current overall WOWS game play.     BALANCING AIRCRAFT CARRIERS

    I know that many things I will talk about have already been adressed in many other posts, but I am going to join them together into a singel large balance idea. First of all let me tell you that I would like to have 2 balance CV tech trees so don't start some fanboy rants, because I will suggest a nerf of your favourite OP CV. I play both CV lines and I can tell you that IJN is clearly a better one. You have more squadrons which give you more flexibility to strike from different directions, cross drop enemy ships, if enemy fighter attacks one of your torpedo bombers you still have another one which will drop without beeing paniced, even in strike configuration you still have at least 1 fighter so you can bully US strike CVs, you can attack any enemy ships, while US CVs are only really good against BBs and CVs... These are just some reasons when you have two equally skilled players, one in IJN and one in US CV, the one in IJN CV will do more damage overall. Also as far as I understand it, WG wants IJN CVs to be more jack of all trades, while US CVs should specialize in one role. Maybe this is the reason why US CVs don't get usefull balance loadouts (only exeptions are Independance and Midway). This plan proved to be disastrous, which can be seen from win rating statistics: https://eu.warships.today/vehicles It can be seen that all US CVs have worse win ratings compared with IJN CVs (only exeption is premium Saipan). This is in my opinion mainly because many US CVs use fighter loadouts which are a lot worse that strike loadouts and since you have to literaly give almost all your striking power away when you play US fighter loadout, but if you play IJN fighter loadout you still have some good strike potential, the result is lower win ratings for US CVs. The second reason is of course greater flexibility of IJN CVs and a fact that they still have at least one figter squadron even in their strike configuration. Why I say that all fighter setups are garbage (exeption is Hakuryu)? Because in mirror matchmaking where there is 1 CV on each team, the winner is a player that does more damage. If you do more damage than enemy CV, you have done your job. It is OK to play as a fighter heavy CV, because you push down the damage of enemy CV, but because AS loadouts don't have enough strike power, you still do less overall damage. If bomber heavy CV does one good strike, he has already done more damage than you will ever do in the entire match as air superiority CV. US CVs are focused more on fighters and dive bombers and IJN CVs more on torpedo bombers, so the sollution is to either rework the way dive bombers work (here is one suggestion): http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/43869-ishiros-proposition-dive-bomber-manual-rework/ or leave the current aiming system and buff the US dive bombers damage and accuracy to insanity (yes even recent buff to tier 8,9,10 US DB damage is not enough because IJN torpedo bombers still do more damage). If IJN CVs are jack of all trades, then US specialise loadouts must be competative in damage done. US fighter loadout must push down damage done by IJN CVs and also have strong dive bombers, so that they will be able to do about the same damage with their dive bombers. US strike CVs planes (dive bombers and torpedo bombers) must do more damage per bomb/torpedo because IJN CVs always have at least fighter squadrons, therefore US strike must do again about the same damage even if they are bullied by IJN fighters. Also make a game balanced in such a way that 2 IJN fighter squadrons vs 1 US fighter squadron will be about equal fight. My general suggestions are: - IJN CVs are jack of all trades and flexible - US CVs are more specialised in specific role (but can still do about the same damage as enemy IJN CV if they fight) - US CVs have always better AA defence and more hp then IJN CVs - US bombers have always more hp per plane then IJN planes and their torpedoes/bombs do more damage than IJN torpedoes/bombs - US bombers are a lot less paniced when attack by fighters or defencive AA - US CVs have always more reserves than IJN CVs So because IJN is jack of all trades, US CVs have higer survivability, better AA, their bombers are stronger and can even strike through defencive AA and always have more planes in reserve. So with that said let me write my suggestions for each tier, but bear in mind that my suggestions also include things I mentioned above, so stronger dive bombers for US CVs, more hp per US bombers.... TIER 4: TIER 5: TIER 6: TIER 7: TIER 8: TIER 9: TIER 10: So what you think about my ideas? Please write down in the comments bellow

    HOW TO EQUIP MY STRIKE BOGUE

    Hej guys, I love playing my 0/1/2 strike Bogue. So I have a question for all you veterans out here which captain skills and equpment should I put on it. PLEASE: don't start arguing which flight control should I use, I already decided to use 0/1/2 strike. Just give me suggestions how would you equip strike Bogue!! Also don't start talking how bad Bogue is as a CV, I like it and please stay on topic of suggesting me how should I spec it. MODULES: For first slot I choose AA Guns Modification 1 (Increases AA mount survivability +100%), because other option is Air Groups Modification 1 (Increases aircraft gun effectiveness.+10%), which is pointless since I don't have any fighters (yes that module only helps fighters and NOT rear gunners of bombers). For second slot I choose AA Guns Modification 2 (Increases AA mount maximum firing range +20%), because I am strike package and I can easily be sniped or even to protect my bombers more. Many times enemy CV player just pursues my bombers with his fighters and I can easily kill his fighters that way. Flight Control Modification 1 (Decreases aircraft servicing time -10%) could be an option, but I think it is better to have AA protection, what do you think? Also you only gain like 3-4 seconds faster reload for each squadron, which is not like a massive buff. Air Groups Modification 2 (Increases fighter survivability +20%) is pointless, because I dont have any fighters in my loadout. For third slot I choose Damage Control System Modification 1 (Decreases risk of flooding and fire), which is just a no brainer option. CAPTAIN SKILLS Now here I have some questions on how to spec captain in row 1, 4 and 5. I have this build right now: tier 1: Basics of survivability because it stacks with Damage Control System Modification 1, so I get -30% faster repair on flood and fire. Usefull if you are getting sniped by experienced player who knows how to spread the attacks, but also since Bogue is so slow you sometimes get cought by DDs or CAs which attack you with HE shells. When you use your damage control party (I have premium one) it is usefull to bee able to extinquish fires and flooding faster and launch bombers to quickly sink them (this actually save me couple of times). tier 2: Torpedo armament expertise this one is pretty much no brainer skill in this row. tier 3: Torpedo acceleration, because I want to have faster torpedoes in order to hit DDs and CAs before they are able to turn away or by preventing them to outrun my torpedoes. I don't find other skills to be actually usefull, what do you think? tier 4: Aircraft servicing expert it is just a standard pick for CVs. You get +5% more hp for all your planes and also your planes reload 10% faster. tier 5: I don't have a tier 5 skill yet. What would you suggest for me to take?? Air supremacy is pretty useless since Bogue has so small hangar (10 reserves). Maybe concealment expert would be better, since your detection range is huge??? Now I am at dilema, should I actually change my captain into more AA spec? I could swap Basics of survivability for Basic firing training and get +10% more damage for my AA, since it doesn't happen so often that I need Basics of survivability (I already have premium damage control party). Also should I swap Aircraft servising expert for Advance firing training? +5% more hp for my planes gives me little more hp. My torpedo bomber plane has 1210 hp, if I take Aircraft servising expert it will only get 1270, which is only 60 more hp. Also 10% faster cooldown for my planes will only give me like 3-4 seconds fatser reload for each squadron which is not like a massive buff. By having module which gives me +20% more AA range and skill Advance firing training I would get from stock AA which is: 40 mm Bofors Mk1: (8 х 2 pcs.) Average Damage per Second: 90 Firing Range: 3.5 km 20 mm Oerlikon Mk4: (27 х 1 pcs) Average Damage per Second: 97 Firing Range: 2 km 127 mm/38 Mk24: (2 х 1 pcs) Average Damage per Second: 16 Firing Range: 5 km To the fenomenaly (so by having module which gives me +20% more AA range and skill Advance firing training) strong AA (LOOK HOW THE RANGE INCREASES): 40 mm Bofors Mk1: (8 х 2 pcs.) Average Damage per Second: 90 Firing Range: 5.04 km 20 mm Oerlikon Mk4: (27 х 1 pcs) Average Damage per Second: 97 Firing Range: 2.88 km 127 mm/38 Mk24: (2 х 1 pcs) Average Damage per Second: 16 Firing Range: 7.2 km Now consider detection from air is 7 km for Bogue, so by having such insane AA range enemy planes would come under fire before even spotting me. This is good versus players that camp their fighters around your carrier and looking where you will sent your bombers. But of course by having full AA spec you lose that skill which gives you +5% more plane hp, 10% faster reload time for your squadrons cooldown, also you can't equip module which additionaly reduce reload for your planes for -10% and you lose Basics of survivability because you take basic firing training instead (buffing your AA even more). As a strike CV it is good to have strong AA, becasue you don't have any fighters, but do you think it is OK to go so far as I want to go? Also what would you suggest as tier 1 captain skill: Basic firing training, Basics of survivability or Expert rear gunner??? Please write your suggestions on how to spec strike Bogue

    Tier 6 Problem

    Hy guys, i'd like to know your oppinion about T6 ship first of all are the Match maker telling us the fact that tier 6 would have battle in TIER 8 BATTLE. still 2 higher tier in new patch. this is dont make sense. 1. Any carriers against T8 ship, (wathever it was. (fact that the planes like paper and the plane's stock?? nevermind) 2. Battleship T6 vs T8, (i think its kinda fine since they got range, but not HP and armor thickness.) 3. Cruiser against anything. (Cruiser vs DD is okay since its the first priority.) what your oppinion guys?? if the question reflected to me i'd like to say that tier 6 battle just face one higher tier e.g. Tier 7 (T6 CV vs T7 CV are okay, present skills and tactics means win) please just tier 6 vs tier 8.

    stock high tier carriers

    I recently got the tier 9 us aircraft carrier, the Essex. this means i have not yet unlocked the upgraded aircraft, matchmaking often puts me in tier 10 games where my tier 8 aircraft are often challenged with taking on the AA capability of the Montana and the Des Moines. this means i am struggling to get close enough to do any damage at all, i often lose most if not all of my aircraft whilst trying to attack any enemy target, is it possible that stock carriers might be able to have the same tier aircraft rather than the tier below?

    Aircraft Carriers.. A change....

    My proposal is this (and links to an earlier comment I made). Currently a CV Captain selects his Air Wing composition (or which planes he has) in port, prior to selecting "Battle" . I would like to suggest a change to this, allowing the CV Captain to choose his Air Wing composition once he has seen the team lists. Why? Well, as a budding CV Captain (and everything else) I find it frustrating to select say a fighter heavy air wing only to find out I'm the only carrier between both teams (happened twice this weekend). Or the enemy have only 1 carrier which I am a higher tier than. If CV Cap's where allowed to select after seeing the team list it would prevent these incidents leading to carriers which have a lower than expected effect, for instance.. 1 CV on our team, none on theirs (our CV is fighter heavy). To compensate the enemy team have an extra top tier BB.. I know where I'd put my money on most benefit (most of the time). So my question is, what say you forumites?
  20. having played cruisers for quite a bit I have noticed that I have citadel hit and received citadel hits in pretty much all classes in the game, save 1...now I don't know if I've just been unlucky, or that this class is just immune to citadel hits. -cruiser vs. cruiser..happens all the time -cruiser vs battleship...rare but you can citadel hit them if the gun is strong enough..battleships are better suited for this though -cruiser vs aircraft carrier, the citadel is located a bit high on the ship for most of them -cruiser vs destroyer...I can't honestly say I ever got a citadel hit ribbon from hitting a destroyer, with other destroyers, cruisers or battleships. nor can I remember receiving the "heavy damage" message after anything other then a torpedo hit when playing a destroyer. is it possible to citadel hit destroyers? do they even have a citadel to hit?
