When will the Ukrainian department of the forum be created?
Bjartskular_83 replied to MaksKray's topic in General Discussion
It is strange they closed these community sections. There are millions of players according to the dev blog. The state of the game is surely a great incentive to not stop playing. -
I tried Baltimore and she is the king of the brawl. You can outspot most of the enemies and that allows you to cross their path when they try to reach a flank. Your AP is amazing and nose-in you can tank AP well. Really great choice for 5vs5. You have no torps, but radar + hydro give you some utility.

That is quite unlucky for 12% drop chance. Still, I think my worst container was like 6x blue booster. The value was there for me.
-
I took these containers just because the value is actually great here. I do not play CVs at all (tried Aquila in ops) and probably never will. Still better value than Matilda without the tech tree to use her on. And who knows. There were some "exchange your premium tanks" events in WoT, so maybe I will have a chance to switch them for something else.

Honestly, I would give Hipper a try. People are dumb and they will show broadsides frequently + you have hydro and you can yolo torp everyone because they are not going to overmatch your nose.

Your post would be valid if there was a CV in every single match. We all know there are battles without any CV spotting and people do just fine. And I bet there is much less camping and kiting in no CV/SS matches, because people can use flanks effectively.
-
Yeah they are working on some kind of super new mechanics that your fighter plane denies the enemy planes to spot you. This will be completely easy to understand for the "average" wows player. For me the biggest issue is the possibility of having: 2xCV + 3xSS match. Fun and engaging for everyone.
-
If your point had some logic then they would have removed matches without CVs. LOL
-
How much fun has an "average player" while playing a DD or ligth cruiser then? And that is exactly the point. Bad/average players do not even know what spotting is. So it's nerf would have literally zero impact on their gameplay. Good players already agree it would be a very valuable change to the game. Limiting the spotting power of airplanes would have possitive impact on the game and allow people to actually move and maneuver on the map. It would hurt noone because we fight battles without CVs too and everyone would tell you they are much enjoyable without them for the rest 24 players in the team.

This is the only way how to bring some balance into the CV gameplay. I have no idea why is WG so reluctant towards it, because it will cause nearly no harm to the CV gameplay at all. Very few players primarily spot they just have the spotting dmg as a bonus while doing their CV things. Especially when the figter gameplay was removed from the game with the rework (was too hard for dogs to understand and created big skill gap between good and bad CV players) it is the only reasonable way how to return some fun for ships that depend on concealment. Even really excellent CV players agree with the change to the spotting system and the bad ones do not even know what it means. Carriers are for some reason the protected class.

German cruisers, from T7 on up
Bjartskular_83 replied to coolrunings_99's topic in General Discussion
1) All german cruisers are primarily kiters. They have low HE alpha, but improved penetration and you see very few number of shatters when hitting the right places. The fire starting chance is also good so they are one of the easiest ships in the game to farm damage actually. 2) From Yorck higher you receive some tankiness too. All german ships could be citadeled from behind and at very steep angles, but the step into heavy cruisers is still a huge improvement in survability. Avoid showing broadsides and maneuvre while kiting and you should be fine most of the time. 3) Learn when to switch to AP. German AP have incredible damage potential, but they work only on broadsides (unlike the Americans). Ambushing other players is bread and butter of the late game and along with solid yolo torps and hydro you have great tools for it. -
I have finished my pirate points missions and turned them all into the air supply crates. I have received Aquila earlier and the last container got myself Graf Zeppelin. Not bad for 11 crates.
-
I am going to get another 2 containers once I finish the last mission. I really wish to own Kaga.
-
People do not know how to utilize the hybrids yet. They play it like CV or rush forward and die while controlling planes. Still it is not a good addition to the game. More planes = less fun.

West Virginia 1944 is going to be a great pick
Bjartskular_83 replied to Port_Authority's topic in General Discussion
I have grinded all 3 BB lines from the Colorado and it took me over 70 matches to unlock them all. I have to say I did not enjoy the Colorado experience at all. The ship herself is not bad being toptier, quite opposite. You have guns that overmatch anything at your tier and many targets at tier VIII too and they have quite good dispersion. What was the problem was the MM. Maybe 20% of matches I was toptier and like 50% of battles were against tier IXs where you are nothing else but slow XP pinata for the enemy. The biggest issue is the size of high tier maps. It is really not enjoyable to sail ship so slow on huge maps and with range the effectivity of Colorados main battery is heavily reduced. I have finished the grind with solid 80k dmg avg. 1,3frags per battle, but ridiculously low WR of 51%. Even if you do well on your side the ship is so slow that you cannot react properly to the situation on the battlefield. You just pick a side and go. No chance to go back or help the other flank. Superdreadnaughts do not belong to world of 2 CVs and 3 SSs per battle. -
Flooding, capturing, damage, wins... nearly everything except free XP.

New tech line: US or Soviet? (need advice)
Bjartskular_83 replied to InBlack2's topic in General Discussion
I still do not understand why people recommend the DM line to new players. It is a great line for sure, but definitely requires a lot of experience and "sense" for the game. If you are new, just take something with great HE, good shell arcs and reasonable survability. German CAs are the way, I guess. Soviets are good too, but the low-mid tiers could be frustrating a bit for their notoriously huge citadels (tier VI and V Germans have them too, but also have improved HE pen and great AP). -
Ammo selection is too hard for an average WoWS player, but pinging in sub and sending airstrikes is obviously not.

DD vs DD is very dependable on the assesment of support you can get. It is very rarely just 1 vs 1 fight and your/enemies teammates come to play. So do not engage mindlessly at the start. 1) gather info 1st - your support, their support, always try to engage with an advantage 2) be patient. Remember that DDs potential grows exponentionally in late game. Many players think that DDs are suppoused to rush for caps at the start no matter what. You cannot be further away from truth. Of course it is doable, but going blindly into the cap usually results in a quick return to the port. 3) learn to knife fight - you need to lead perfectly. It is not easy with brirish or US DDs, but you can learn. Know your strenghts (for example US DDs will outgun the Soviet ones in CQB, but most likely lose in long range engagement). Learn how to use torpedoes at close range, how to torp into smoke. Do not stand broadside in smoke without possibility to dodge torps (you play british DDs, so the hydro is a huge help here) 4) not shooting back... and going dark is many times the best option (fe. if you are engaged by Akizuki with worse concelament and you have cruiser support, you can just sail away and spot for your team. He will be lit and probably receive significant damage for small amount of dmg dealt to you) 5) and again be patient. In british DD you decide if you want to take the fight, you have great concealment and GTFO smokes.

There is only one way how to improve your torpedo aiming and that is experience. Yes, the torpedo lead marker is accurate, but also torpedoes have their spread and it could create large gap making the dodging for the enemy easier. The lead indicator works only if your target does not change course or speed and that is very rare. Good DD captains can predict the movement of enemy ship by assesing her course, speed, dodging patterns etc. For example people love to use islands as covers and sail near to them, so you can predict a turn that provides them the cover. Or you can just assume that their battleship will try to use all her guns and turn to get the angle. Also take notice wheather the ship is slowing down or accelerating and adjust the lead accordingly. This all is experience. People do not sail in straight lines usually. Good tactic is also torping the edges of islands if you see a ship moving behind it, they usually peek the corner. I am sure there are some example videos on the youtube about predicting people moves. I would personally recommend Destroyer Kuroshio Kai as a great source of advanced DD gameplay videos.

I think the detonations should be removed from all the ship types because it is just pure RNG. Make the players pay for bad possitioning and presenting their broadsides, not for being unlucky. I am pretty sure there is even no measurable impact on the economy regarding flag purchases. Veterans are usually wealthy enough to equip everything they need, but newbs and casuals do not use them at all and do not care. You will probably get less angry by setting less fires per match than detonating with 3/4 HP left on a lucky BB hit.
-
I have detonated once (in 200 matches) in a beaten up tier V BB from a single CV torp hit. It did not matter that much. I use the anti detonation flags on DDs, but they are too pricey for me to fly them on every ship. In this ranked season I have detonated 2 enemy DDs in 60 matches sailing the Baltimore.
-
I will give it a try because I do not play CVs in randoms/rankeds.
-
I have received Aquila, lots of blue bonuses, 25k coal and about 65k free xp.

yes. The duck event counts towards the Queen of the Seas mission. I have grinded 2 stages in 1 day.
