So you think it's a waste of XP on a MEH ship. Okay....so the Groningen is a MEH ship in your opinion, which is kind of opposite of every other opinion on the ship I've seen and read online. Fine, so what would you consider a "good" deal for a million XP? I don't think it's even enough XP to regrind one line.
-
Yeah the RB ships look really awesome. However I'm a fairly new player, I'd rather get the Groningen, and then use it with a captain which is actually playing/grinding the Dutch cruisers. I have no idea whether I will give this game the time (and or money for premium) to ever really afford a single RB ship but I doubt it. While the game is relatively simple way for me to relax and play a couple of hours each day, it would take me months and months of playing (and regrinding lines, which to me seems like a badly designed gameplay mechanic) just to get a single RB ship. That kind of dedication is for hardcore players only. I wouldn't even know how to join a group like, that, where to start, or even if they would have me.

Sell the ships for silver. Show the game how much you REALLY hate it.

Hi all, I'm a fairly new player (well, returning player actually. I played in the beta with a defunct account and got to like T9 US BBs and quit) and currently I'm grinding my way through three different lines: 1. British DDs (up to Jutland) 2. German BC line (up to P. Rupprecht) 3. Japanese CA line (up To Mogami) I am enjoying playing all of them, although for a new player I guess I could have chosen some easier lines in hindsight :) The most success I've had is with the Japanese cruisers, especially with the Mogami, which is kind of surprising considering how squishy that ship is. However with the 155s the DPM on that ship is insane, and I frequently get 100k+ damage games in her. Something about how that ship plays appeals to me, and I am apparently decent at positioning, long range sniping and kiting which is surprising even to me. I also have some premium ships (the Atago, which is also fun but which I've had less success with) the Pommern which I absolutely adore and which seems to be a beast in ranked, and the Z-44 which I am learning to love. So now I'm thinking of trying another line of ships and I've narrowed down the choice to US and Soviet, but I need some help on making up my mind on which open up first. I'm thinking maybe radar cruisers would be a good bet just to learn how to use them and how they affect the game? I am saving up coal and steel, so my first resource ship will either be A) the Black or the Salem (both of which look like they could be good fun) or B) the Moskva which compared to the Japanese ships is something completely different but which looks like I could adapt to fairly quickly. This of course depends on what line I choose to grind next. So....what do I go for? The Soviet Cruisers look like they could be either very fun, or horribly frustrating. The US Crusiers which (especially the light cruisers) seem to fit my current Mogami playstyle well? US BBs seem kind of bland and safe by comparison but maybe they are the safe bet? Please, help me make up my mind. Thanks in advance to everyone who replies. o7

New tech line: US or Soviet? (need advice)
InBlack2 replied to InBlack2's topic in General Discussion
Just to report back, I am enjoying the Moskva it's teaching me a lot about positioning and I still suck with it but it's a satisfying ship to play when you get it right and with the enemy team (CVs and Hybrid ships) permitting. However the grind on the Soviet CL\CA line has ground to a halt. I've had such terrible games in the Budyonny that I've stopped grinding it alltogether, and switched to the British CL line, on a whim. Im enjoying it immensely, I am already up to tier VII with the Fiji in particular being one of the best ships in the game, at least from my perspective and the amount of fun I've had with it so far. I guess that my experience playing DDs has allowed me to more fully appreciate the playstyle of the ultimate DD hunters, which the British light cruisers seem to excel at. Who would have thought....:) -
If you can't fight it, join it. (I actually dont think that CVs need to be "nerfed" just that regular ships need a pretty big AA buff)
-
Bought another crate, 0 CVs. So thats 7 crates opened so far = 0 CVs. How many crates can I get if I only do the missions?
-
Im sick of CVs being the deciding factor in almost every single game they are in. Seriously, they can change the tide of the game even more than DDs that are still left alive at the end of the match. And it's not even related to the damage they do, just the ability to spot wherever they need to. I'm not an experienced player, but even I can see that. DDs most important ability, the ability to stay alive, spot enemies, and stay concealed is completely negated by any CV player with two braincells.
-
Just a friendly reminder. For every person posting here how they got this ship and that ship, there are 10 other people who opened a crapton of containers and got 0 ships.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I think that will be plenty of time. *phew*

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
InBlack2 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Opened 6/6 air boxes. 0 CVs gained. No air cancer for me. (I refuse to tech up any of those ships but I will play them if I can get em for free) Also, currently 0 games played of WOWs today that-s a pretty good achievement right there. I might play some tonight. -
6/6 crates opened. 0 Air Cancer vehicles. Feels Bad Man :(

New tech line: US or Soviet? (need advice)
InBlack2 replied to InBlack2's topic in General Discussion
I hated the tier VI Japanese CA cruiser too, but it got a lot better at TVII and even more so with the awesome Mogami at TVIII, which in all fairness is actually a light cruiser on the CA line. I think I can do well with poor survivability, as long as I have decent mobility, decent concealment and great, reliable DPM and range. It's hard to really reliably judge, as my win rate has taken a nosedive recently. Maybe I should find divisions to play with :) -

Well I gotta ways to go up that tree first before I have to decide whether I go the CA or the CL line. I like the flexibility of the CL line though, their rapid firing guns and their DPM can be quite good even without IHFE, at least that has been my experience so far. Also they are nimble enough to get out of dangerous spots. I gotta say I kind of powered through last night up to tier VI and Budyonny, and I'm not having any success with that ship. Maybe it's just me and my playstyle but I'm getting wrecked in it, my captain is only rank 9 though, so I don't have the concealment skill yet. I tend to get focused down by the enemy team no matter where I am. -
I'm gonna go for this. When you can't fight sky cancer, it's time to join it. Hopefully I get a CV, if I don't no big deal, i'll just continue to be on the recieving end of one of them. Infinite spotting damage, here I come!

New tech line: US or Soviet? (need advice)
InBlack2 replied to InBlack2's topic in General Discussion
How is that possible? Maybe in games without Carriers? Because in every single game with carriers, ships like the Moskva or the Petro get deleted. First. Then the rest of the team gets deleted. At least this has been my experience so far. -

Thanks for the replies. I have been told in-game that I'm playing this game "wrong". I have around 550 Random Battles played (I play some coop to get a hang for ships or finish annoying missions) and I recently got into ranked. My current score is 48%. It was 50% but I seem to have have a bad run lately. Yeah I know. it's bad. I guess I suck. I try my best, but maybe it's not good enough. Apparently what I'm doing wrong is trying too many different lines at the same time. I find that enjoyable and try not to get hung up on the score, I also think it's making me a better player since what better way to learn all the ships and classes than by playing them? Oh well. I have decided it's the Soviet CL line, come what may, and the Moskva as my first Coal ship. Here's to not falling below 45%....o7 -
Like the title says. The British are supposed to be great DD hunters, but for some reason Im not. I suck. But the thing is, I try to do everything possible to help my team. I cap, I spot, I try to stay alive as long as possible and not rush into death. I pull out of dangerous situations, and yet I keep losing. Usually to other DDs. Which is funny because as a british DD Im supposed to be a great dd hunter, and yet.....I'm not. Im already up to lightning, and almost unlocked the T9 but somehow I still have not got the hang of these boats. I'm frustrated and I just feel like I should maybe quit the line or something. The lightning is supposed to be one of the best T8 dds, and I feel completely overmatched in every one on one. Every now and again I have a great game, but in those games I usually face other dds who have no idea what they are doing. So it's not on me. Please, can anyone point me in the right direction? I enjoy the playstyle but I hate the losing streaks. Thanks.

New tech line: US or Soviet? (need advice)
InBlack2 replied to InBlack2's topic in General Discussion
Okay, so if I decide to go up the US Cruiser line, I think it's safe to say I will take the Salem or possibly the Black as my premium\captain training ships. So what should be my go-to premium to train up Soviet captains on? If I take the Moskva, it's Captain skills don't seem that compatible with the Nevsky build? Any other Soviet/Premium/Coal ships to consider that are worth it? -

Thanks for all the replies again. I still got a bit of way to go, need a few more thousand coal to grind and that will take me a few more days so I got some more time to think about it. -

A bit off-topic but relevant because now I don't feel like grinding anything anymore. Do you ever get days when you can't win battles no matter what you do? :/ -
New tech line: US or Soviet? (need advice)
InBlack2 replied to InBlack2's topic in General Discussion
Hmmmm, you guys have given me a lot of food for thought. Thanks. I hadn't really considered the Soviet Light Cruiser line. Although the De Moines class\ship are also really attractive, if for no other reason than to explore a different play-style than what I'm used to. In case I go for a US coal ship first (which I will most probably grind out pretty soon) I would then probably go for a Steel Soviet ship or vice versa. What would you consider a great choice for a first steel ship in either case? (Either US or Soviet?) -

Just to be clear when you say there are better ships available, you mean better light cruisers (of different nations) at the same tier? Also no love for the Soviet line? At all? Is it really that bad?
