Generally liking those. But I will admit, it feels a bit as if they're too close to the current tech tree. And that brings up the question of whether they're worth the work, for developers and players alike. Maybe a change in the consumables, so they actually stand out?

Pretty sure that a new player wanting to buy a tier X right now would not go for Tromp, but one of the Blacks like Napoli. Tromp seems more like something for enthusiasts /andor excentrics on first glance. That's not necessarily bad, mind you. Just my first impressions from looking at the stats and armament.

European cruiser tech tree line proposal
LukkaiCH replied to TheKaramelka's topic in General Discussion
Thanks, I completely missed that one. Bit of a flimsy excuse on this particular one, I have to say. Not to my liking. I guess they really ran out of designs there. Sounds as if it'll really be very much a copy though. So a version with some more changes may be in it. But eh.., it's not as if I think it has to be there, no matter what myself. I see we will be getting a third Arethusa-class though. (Or close enough.) Granted, the first two (Chungking, HuangHe) are actually the exact same ship, just at slightly different times of its service (and ownership). We may have found different sources then. Because what I found was that the USN already had considered the possibilites of such ships in general prior to that project, found them to be not a viable use of resources. And in fact actively advised the Soviet against taking up the design. Not that there is a whole lot of information about the thing in general. But we digress. -
Slightly below 20k doubloons actually, 19'225 would be the price for those 50 tokens. But still, it's twice the cost of a tier IX (with the free xp or by buying all necessary tokens for doubloons). For a ship that will be available for coal soon enough. Yeah, I don't see it. I'm gonna put it on my coal ship list and be done with it.

Well, since you say yourself that: That means you will run out of ships to get with free xp fairly quickly. I haven't been playing that long, have been occasionally using free xp to jump a ship. Did manage to grab Nelson in the last days it was available... And I still have only one ship left, the Azuma. (And not for much longer.) So when you have those hundreds of thousands of free xp lying around and are not using it for regrinds... You might as well use them here. At least they do something then, even if it isn't much and in theory overpriced.

European cruiser tech tree line proposal
LukkaiCH replied to TheKaramelka's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't have to be, of course. I just noticed that it would be a possibility. (And a chance to create a Danae with slightly different weaponry, maybe consumables. It could be interesting.) Though you do have to help me here, because I simply can't find anything on it: Which one is the second Danae in the game? (And I have a bit of a special place for Danae in my heart, I'll admit. It's what I got my first Double Strike on.) In a way, there is a precedent in what WG did with the Kearsarge. I have to admit. A design that while produced by a US company was meant to be built for and sold to the Soviet navy. Why it's suddenly USN in the game (and with the name of a CV that at the time of the ship being built would already have been in planning, if not outright laid down to boot)... Unless it was meant as a test-run for the new planned USN hybrid-BB tech tree all along. But I digress. Well, for those ships, there was at least some kind of project on paper. Not that they all would have been realised even if the Soviet would have had the capacities. But at least there is something to base them on. And I'm not saying that Karamelka's idea is utterly stupid or anything. Not at all. But there's just not enough meat on the bone here for my taste. And I feel that if they were to purchase from somewhere, it would much more likely be from the British. There's gotta be something with more substance than that out there. Maybe with the Greek or Turkish, the Portuguese... Spain and Netherlands unfortunately fall flat, with them already having their own nations ingame. Does post-war Denmark have anything to contribute, maybe? (Checking... err, no. It doesn't) -

LukkaiCH replied to SEESCHAKAL's topic in Die Messe (Offtopic)

I really like my Mecklenburg, I have to say. The things this ship will do to any cruiser broadsiding... Yet you can well combat any other ship type as well.

European cruiser tech tree line proposal
LukkaiCH replied to TheKaramelka's topic in General Discussion
Of course they could have ordered something like that. But they would have likely done so elsewhere, with the Dutch capabilities probably already fully occupied with their own project. Britain is a classic for stuff like this. The US another possible source. Could even be a ship bought out of the respective navies at the end of WWII and then refitted to the own specifications. What I wonder is whether there really is not a single European nation not already represented in the game that had any such project, at least on paper. On that note, I just realised that an alternative for tier IV or for a premium ship would be a slightly modified Danae, with two of them (including the type ship) being leased to the Polish Navy during the war. -

Note that I was talking the premium tier VIIIs there. The tech tree tier VIII is not a 50s design. The Nueva Esparta class was apparently based on the Battle class, direct predecessor of the Daring class. With a similar gun loadout as the latter, though a lot less torpedoes. So I would think it would fit better at X yet. The Almirante Clemente I admit could probably be made to work. Since while it was a more modern design, it was also a rather small one and not as strong (but also cheaper in selling and maintenance cost, I presume) than its contemporaries that have made it to the game. Of course that raises the question of whether it should be used in general. Öland was launched in '45, completed in '47. That is not the fifties. De Zeven Provincien I kind of give you, launched in '50, completed in '53. Though it was laid down in '39, it just took so long to finish it due to the war. USS Saipan was launched in '45, commissioned in '46. That is not the fifties. Pobeda is mostly a fantasy product and never existed. Though the Soviets did indeed consider finishing the started Khronstadt hull they had as an aircraft carrier... in 1945. Again, that is not the fifties. So three of the ships you mentioned actually PROVE my point. And the only exception that I have indeed forgotten only took until the fifties because the war delayed production for over five years. Otherwise, it would have been finished at around the same time as Saipan and Öland, if not sooner.

Post battle and port music So we all know the post battle music, it's always the same. And I don't mind hearing it, it's gotten to the point that it's like a ritual hearing it while taking a breather and checking the battle results. But I don't really need to hear it all the time after that. Especially considering how great some of the port music is. So would it be possible to change things so that either you only hear the post battle music while on the result pages? Or it only does one full run through, before it switches back to the music of the respective port you are currently using. I would very much like that.

European cruiser tech tree line proposal
LukkaiCH replied to TheKaramelka's topic in General Discussion
I do like the concept of the tier V, I won't lie. Absolutely not liking the justification for the tier IX though. "It would not have been difficult"? Building the hull is the biggest and most time intensive part of building the whole ship. Also the one that is taking a large enough dockyard to do it in, something that is rare from a certain ship size on and many nations will want to use for domestic projects first. Is there really no alternative out there? Something that at least was actually proposed on paper? -
That, right there! Exactly that! Players going into Operations, take note! As for the last part with the DDs, I found that you can use a mobile cruiser (if one is left on the team) to trigger the torpedoes early. Before the Ruan even gets into danger. And while the DDs reload, you can rush and if necessary ram them away. But you definitely need more than one ship at that point, focusing them down (and the Hipper that tends to accompany them).
-
I'll get the pike.
-
Akatsuki is definitely the better gunboat than Shiratsuyu. On the other hand, Shiratsuyu with the reload booser can lay down one heck of a wall of skill. Those two do feel a bit as if they were placed in the wrong tree to me.
-
Why would you have the Acre-class lower tier than the Marcilio Dias though, considering the first came after the latter? It wouldn't be the first with a slower speed than its predecessor in the tech tree. And the lower number of guns (4 to 5) could be compensated with something along consumables or just a better turret shift and/or fire rate. As for the proposed premiums: Ships from the fifties should not be around tier VIII, in my opinion. The only ones we have in the game are at X or XI, unless I have missed one. Tier IX if you count Velos, but that would be a refit, not new ship.
-
Definitely still exists, my friend just finished that very mission for Mainz/Mainz B. The above have it right. I do say though. I kind of wonder why we still have a 'Recurring' tab in that list, when all missions that ever went under it are now part of the new battlepass system.
-
And of course by taking a tier VIII ship instead of something lower, they actually raise the difficulty level for the rest of the team. Their skill issues set aside, that is one more way they hurt the team.

Bad Advice behind the scenes Collection

Although this particular one apparently still works. Good news for everyone who has not started on their path to Cap yet.
