[Poll] How many "Black" ships do you have in port?
LukkaiCH replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
5 unless I forgot one. Massachussetts B Dunkerque B Alaska B Loyang B Shinonome B -
There's no actual luck involved. Let's see if I manage to get this into text in a comprehensible way: Whether or not you get a supercontainer on a daily container drop is not luck. There is a scale going up to 100. When you start, a random number within that span is determined as the one you will get a supercontainer at. Every daily container will raise your current number by 1.5, except for the "try your luck" containers which will do so by 4.5. (Correct me if I got the numbers wrong, it's been a while since I read the official statement on it.) No matter when within that span you get your supercontainer, it will not reset until you've reached 100. Then a new number will be randomly chosen and the game begins anew.

Actually he was just using the word correctly, while so many others in here did not. Predetermined means one simple thing: That from the moment on that it was, nothing else that happens matters anymore concerning the outcome. It will always be the same. And that is not the case in World of Warships. While the matchmaker will create teams with a major advantage, those teams will still have to actually use that advantage. (And hope they don't get just plain unlucky the with the enemy too often landing some unexpected dev strikes/surviving where they shouldn't thanks to RNGesus. It can happen.) As it is in for example real life sports, said team will manage to do so more often than not. But they will also still lose at times, for whatever reason. So the result, as much as people like to throw the word around as if it was going out of style, is not predetermined. The true problem with that is that not a few players actually believe it is. They see a team that looks much stronger and give up. They see that they lost the DD advantage and give up. Even if they are on the team that's stronger and in the process of gaining the advantage, they see something that looks bad for them and give up. They play accordingly and see the resulting loss as a confirmation of their bias. When it often is a consequence of them not trying to win even against hardship. That may only be part of the problem. But one that even the utopia of a perfect matchmaker cannot solve. The only way to get out of this kind of circle is for these players to decide for themselves that they will try anyway, no matter the odds.

To be fair, being a country not having their flag in the game to be mounted on ships does put Romania with the very large majority of nations. And I can see that it takes a bit of work to create a new flag, since it's going to be a moving part that will be always visible from all kinds of angles not just in port but battle as well. I don't see why they couldn't have gotten some patch emblem actually representing their country though. We do have quite a number of them with a relation to various nations. I perfectly understand those often actually being reused from earlier events like the Finnish one currently and don't mind at all. As long as they have that connection. The bull just doesn't have that. So I understand the disappointment and feel it is warranted. Even a simple emblem of just a waving Romanian flag would have been a lot better and should not take all that long to design.

True, but Fatal_Ramses claimed this: Which is what I was reacting to.

Not sure how you're able to fall in a trap that's visible from the moon. Well, since it's visible from the moon, it has to be rather big trap. Lots of space to fall into.

I haven't been using them for so long, I completely forgot they existed.

2 new superships in auction, because not enough
LukkaiCH replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
That differs from a T7 in a division with a T8 how? The tier system now has one tier more. That is really all it is. I think it's stupid. But not gamebreaking in general. Single ships within this new tier, that we can talk about. There are definitely some contenders. But the tier as a whole is not. Edit: Sorry about that, I see now what you meant. Yes, the "solution" to a T9 not seeing superships by div'ing with a T8 is of course rubbish and won't work. I am leaving my above statement in place though, since I think it still fits the discussion overall. -

I've been part of a military system that does just that. And we're not even that good an army. Quite honestly? If someone is telling you that, they are either ignorant. That is okay, ignorance can be cured. Or they are lying. Most likely to cover their own back. Maybe because if they were to change anything towards a system working like that, they would have to invest a lot of time, work and money. But particularily in regards to command structures as the Russian armies have held all the way from tsaristic times throughout the Soviet Union into modern Russia, it would in fact threaten the power of officers, especially higher ups, within the current system. Because the soldiers may now actually refuse orders and treatment that are outright illegal and amoral. So the people in charge will not change the system, because they do not want it to change. And tell everybody that it can't be changed and that their way is the only way. The reason why it's a systematic problem that lived through time is that it generally tends to be a problem in any authoritarian regime. But at this point I am going to stop talking about this, because we threaten to move into politics. That is indeed the ideal often purported. That is also often attributed to many a historic military leader. Because it is an absolute mainstay of propaganda. And unfortunately untrue. Even at platoon level, an officer cannot control everything about the troops under his command. Many will try, one way or another. Some will get close even, though mostly not through means you would consider honorable or anything but amoral. Yet even for those, the ideal in the end is but a pipe dream. -
Last time that I've failed Killer Whale (it's been a while) it only failed at exactly 0 seconds on the clock. No earlier. (And we would have won if it wasn't for an idiot driving out the goal circle less than thirty seconds before the end and the other idiot sitting still right in front of it for the whole last three or four minutes.)

Well, just about anything big that wasn't sunk before actually went to Italy, France and England at the end of the war. Yugoslavia ended up with one coastal defense ship and 12 torpedo boats for seagoing combat ships, that's it. Also by that logic, Commonwealth ships should be British instead. I know, not much of a difference in numbers of ships reassigned. And it would actually make more sense, since not all of Yugoslavia had prior been part of Austria-Hungary. Such a thing as part of a PanEuropean line on the other hand? I can absolutely see that.

Fair enough. -
You mean in port, outside of battle? Is that really a thing in WoT? Seems to me as if it could get swarmed to death and uselessness very quickly, with the amount of people that may be on a server at any time.

But then the good player in a Shima/Yama is what I'm worried about. The 20km torpedo spammer... not so much. With the latter, it basically does not make a difference whether they are driving a Shima or a Yama period. In the hands of a good player though, you will feel the difference. But it won't be the torpedo count as much as that he is harder to kill in the Yama. Of course there is also the not so good player who goes into close and/or gun combat with the Yama. But with him also, those extra torpedoes do not make as much of a difference as the extra health that may just be enough to outlast you. -

If the conscription and training system works right, it really isn't dependent on the officers. And it shouldn't be dependent on them since A) while you can be a bit more selective, you still face the same problems in choosing and training officers as you do with soldiers in general. And B) even the ideal officer cannot be everywhere, see everything. He will never have full control over his men. If you want to get anywhere, you need to imprint this sense of right and wrong with the common soldiers. The Russian army, for all I hear and read, apparently does not do that on purpose. And they are suffering for it. -

Actually the extra torpedoes don't make as much of a difference to Shima as the extra hp does, in my experience. So yeah, we seem to be on the same page here. -

I served in a conscription-type army. It is not a consequence of that. It's a consequence of an army doing it wrong. Sorry to burst your bubble here. But if it really is a problem in your nation's army. That means that your army fails. -
OP asked for Austro-Hungarian ship line. Which is synonymous with k. u. k. ship line. What you suggested, as I already said, was a PanEuropean line. Even though you originally claimed it as Austro-Hungarian, it was only partially that.
-
Which is where more k .u. k. ships could well fit in at the lower tiers. But a full line of their own? There just isn't enough material, simply because the realm in question did not exist anymore for the later tier levels. Not changed government and political system as with others. Actually ceased to exist. The PanAmerican nations that were mentioned in this thread? They actually did exist all the way through WWI, WWII, the Cold War... We do have some basic level of justification there that is simply missing for the Double Monarchy.

But are they? Eagle I can see, yes. Satsuma for example? Not so much. We could get into analysing every single ship over hundreds of battles here. But most of them honestly just feel like tier XI to me. Annoying, yes. But nowhere near godmode. -
Pretty sure he was just being sarcastic on that one.
