Had it with rampant toxicity in the game
SodaBubbles replied to Karasu_Browarszky's topic in General Discussion
Well, it's kind of indirect evidence, but several of us who set up alternate accounts on this server won't go past T8 in most lines. Why bother with the awful gameplay at T10? WG's first great screw-up was the restricted T4 mm. They did that so they could sell more high tier premiums. What happened was, t5 and tier 6 became instantly unplayable as they were always up tiered. So players began rushing through those tiers to avoid the hellscape at tier 5. The result was they arrived at the higher tiers lacking the experience and depth of gameplay they needed. Even worse, because nobody played T9, T8 were then routinely dragged up to tier 10. The ironic consequence of the silly restricted mm at T4 was that nobody was purchasing T9 and T8 premiums, because nobody wanted to pay to be fodder. As a result, in typical WG style, they've been forced to Tinker with the MM constantly rather than fix the fundamental issue which is the restricted T4 MM. Flooding the game with aircraft carriers has also degraded game play at the high tiers because players rush up there since there are fewer aircraft carriers in T10. The result of all these unnecessary and poorly handled changes has been that the higher tiers are flooded with incompetent and inexperienced players who drag down gameplay. You could probably come by data on this if you felt like manually combing all of the available data. I dont. -
Is it rude to compliment really bad cv players when they are in the enemy team?
SodaBubbles replied to Cippalippus's topic in General Discussion
Bad strategy, it will only encourage them to play that ship and ruin games for others. -
I've always done that. No point in playing in a 7v7 with CVs, the outcome is predetermined by the CV disparity, and the game itself won't be fun with them around.

What's with the anti-cruiser focus in development?
SodaBubbles replied to Itwastuesday's topic in General Discussion
I dont think we are there yet, there are still many parts of the game that are fun. It's a testimony to how good a game the original creation was that it can withstand all the idiocy the developers have dumped on it in the last three years. One wonders at what point people will start to leave.... -
Great captain rework still holding strong
SodaBubbles replied to TridentOfNeptune's topic in General Discussion
There are a couple of things about the rework that I like -- using captains across multiple ships. Paying reset costs out of elite captain XP is also great. Like everything WG does, it could have been great. But instead, all my BBs use the same build, all my cruisers use the same build, all my DDs use the same build. I can't imagine what they were thinking when they approved radically reducing the number of possible builds. -
Nice new selective mission for italian BB, here's the downer, wait only t6, t7 and t8? So t5 and t9 owners tough luck right?
SodaBubbles replied to Brinckie's topic in General Discussion
I honestly tried with the Caricature of a BB, but those guns are the worst of any ship I have played in WOWs. I was missing the Lexington in Narai at 3 kms with four shells. I just gave up trying to do this mission with that POS. On the plus side, you can do it in scenarios... -
big hunt Big Hunt request @WG Dudes
SodaBubbles replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
sweet thanks! -
Yup. When you flood the game with CVs that make it difficult and unfun to play ships that need concealment to function properly, you push everyone into BBs, since concealment is less important for them and they have the HP to resist the idiotic CV plague. Once the BB population rises, the population of cruisers (except supercruisers and broken Russian cruisers) falls. Deadeye is just worsening these trends. CVs also suck the life out of the DD population both by removing DD's one advantage, detection, and by causing DD players to switch to CVs. The kind of mediocre DD player who stayed back to torp safe from retaliation has been reborn as a mediocre CV player who stays in back to get even more damage at no risk to themselves. WG has always wanted the bulk of players to be in BBs, judging from the decisions they make. I suspect premium BBs represent the bulk of premium ship sales, which is why they keep offering more and more BB premiums even though there are already too many.

After WG flooded the game with CVs, people stopped playing low tiers because there were three CVs in every low tier match and the devs in their infinite wisdom made sure low tier ships had no AA. I have no idea what kind of mind thought that would be fun, just glad I dont have it. The other issue is that the daily missions start at T5. Until WG bans CVs from low tier matches, bots will be necessary. Of course, it is powerful evidence that WG's recruiting is ailing. If they really had an influx of new players, they wouldn't need bots...

Get rid of CVs. That would remove much toxicity, since so many toxic remarks are directed at the CV player. Alternatively, WG could actually balance them (hahahaha. who am I kidding?). Failing these utopian solutions, the reward system has promise, but WG is always too stingy with rewards, that is why the NA program failed. One reward that might work is a 50% off coupon every sixty days that a player goes without actually being toxic in chat. Then WG would sell more stuff and players would have a real goal to work toward. But for some reason WG hates coupons, even though the marginal cost of generating a new premium ship or premium time is nearly zero. Oh well.
-
Ha yes. 35K games on NA.
-
I dont understand why they haven't intervened to balance that thing. It's so obviously broken and unfun to play against.

Interesting take, I am working on getting Ohio now. And I really enjoy the kiting/delaying action tactical mode. Thanks.

New ships Part Deux with Flamu
SodaBubbles replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
I can't believe what I just saw happen to that Des Moines. That's insane. -
Today in Ranked I had the privilege of having the same bot Yammy two matches in a row, even though I let time go by so i wouldnt encounter him. I play on both NA and EU and I've noticed lots of bots in matches. I think the irrevocable ranks are driving an uptick in botting since it is much easier to fail upward. And no, don't tell me to report them. WG will do nothing. Waste of time. I've done it many times, only to encounter the same AFKers and botters again and again.
-
Yes, that will keep the BB HE spammers camping even further back, out of range!
-
Big Hunt mode is fine, but the fact that rewards are bundled rather than individually sold means that I have quit. i don't want to get bundles of stuff I dont need in order to get one or two things I want. Rewards are stingy too.

Is this the worst state of the game ever?
SodaBubbles replied to Humorpalanta's topic in General Discussion
Tiers 5, 6, and 9, are the sweet spots. T7 and 8 are constantly uptiered and no fun to play anymore. The idiotic CV Rework had one positive effect: because of WG's obsession with ramming CVs down everyone's throats, it had to put more T5 ships in T5 matches, so you are uptiered to T7 less. T9 is often top tier and when uptiered, its only 1 tier. It's really time for WG to combine all the servers so we can have 1 or 2 tier spread depending on what the players choose, and revive all the dead operations. Right now the game is at the absolute worst its been since the horrible era when you could have 2v1 CVs and the 1 CV was two tiers lower. -
it does. You might have good speed and armor, but the guns are ridiculously useless. Dont hit, and when they do, it's overpens. In any other BB I can drop DDs at long ranges, in CC, lololol Also the armor? It eats cits. Yup, never playing it again. I have no idea how the devs thought it was a good idea to give an 8-gun ship that long reload, poor armor, and terrible dispersion. Other 8-gun ships dont have that crap. Heck, I can get in Ashitaka with 10 guns and have 30sec reload, better sig, better guns, AND 2 more kms of range. Seriously, devs?

Rejoice! WG is fixing the CA/CL population!
SodaBubbles replied to Prophecy82's topic in General Discussion
So many solutions. None implemented. It's WG, so what do you expect? -
Subs will only make camping worse. But don't worry, no matter how many cogent arguments and how much evidence knowledgeable players provide in feedback, the devs will ignore it.
-
it wouldn't work, everyone would remain in spawn using the Odysseus Eye skill to shoot arrows at ships 20 kms away.

[Poll] Do you play the "Big Hunt" temporary battle type in new WoWs v0.10.2 ?
SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
The rewards are not very useful for the time put in, even for someone like me building a new account. I dont bother on my main account. Played a bit to get the coins and some credits, thats it. If WG wants people to play, they can increase the rewards. I especially dislike the random bundle mode. Just give the players stuff they can straight up buy. -
Which ship(s) do you hate having on your team? ("Bad-player-magnets")
SodaBubbles replied to Hirohito's topic in General Discussion
Paolo Emilio. Basically, whichever team gets the PE, that team has lost. Although you must be patient to play the PE, and await opportunities, I have never seen a PE player carefully work to get opportunities to use his devastating strengths. Invariably they throw their ships away.
