  1. That's it! Thanks! I was having trouble figuring out what the cause was. That was when I stopped playing several of my cruisers I really liked, too.

    One of those days again

Once I hit two losses in a row, I quit right away.
  3. The dropoff in cruisers is obvious. One thing hidden by this chart is supercruisers. I wonder how many players switched to supercruisers in response to the CV plague and the plethora of BBs.
  4. Give us coupons for 25% or 50% off premium ships/time/signals in the premium shop that players can buy with coal and steel and use to buy premium ships in the shop. The selection of ships for coal and steel lacks appeal for a lot of players, and since you won't put more ships in the armory for coal, most of us hoard the stuff.

Hey WG, want to make even more money?

I have 35000 battles on NA. I have all the coal and steel ships and RB ships I want there. EU is something I do just for fun. Basically, what can i do with coal and steel? Nothing at the moment. But give veterans more options, and they will respond.

    That would work too.

Hey WG, want to make even more money?

Lots of people around a while have all those. No reason coupons couldnt be used on ships not available for dubs, or even on doubloon ships.

Yes, another commander skill rework rant

Since the devs very obviously dont care what the player base thinks, it is as useless now as it would have been months ago.
  9. SodaBubbles

How have you been spending your German tokens??

Buying signals, which I need. Really happy that WG events usually give us that option. Thanks devs!

Tutoring thread: BDA and tactics corner

Like all the high tier maps, Greece is a terrible map, one that produces identical matches each time, boring and stupid. The good thing about that is that if you work out a playstyle that always works for you, you can always use it. On any map, keep your BB between the 4 and 7 lines so you can control the center but flex to a flank that needs you. On Greece I prefer to go to the west side where there is more open water behind the islands for dodging shells and disappearing. I like to keep my BB moving and so I do not play any ships that use the bow-tanking playstyle, such as Krem or Yammy. Ships on the east side will be broadside to you, in sight of your own ships, and you can shoot at them, often without being detected yourself. You need to practice long range shooting, but often they will stop beside an island, assuming they are safe from shells. One thing you might do on any map is push up to below the cap in the opening of the match, then turn and kite away. Once you get your BB turned incoming fire is very easy to dodge, and you can shoot back easily as well. You can also put shells on DDs in the cap, which is key to winning and to getting good XP for yourself. Your DDs will play more aggressively because they have BB support up close and personal. Make sure your turrets are turned out so that when you come round, they are facing the proper direction. If you do that, you need to ensure that you are turned before red BBs see you, but once you are turned, you have the advantage. Keep your BB in the center, mostly, unless a situation develops in which you can wreck face by pushing into a cap.

    Importance of sample-size and WR

Yes. He's still an excellent player even if he is not experienced at T10. Would you want to face him at T6? I'd rather have him on my team.

I usually quit after two in a row. And I take a break after each match, win or lose.

I don't get the dev blog (CC) outrage

Further, when your DD/BB/CA is killed, your turrets do not fly off and continue shooting for a time afterwards. Whereas the CV....

You've confused a transient situation with a permanent design choice. Utterly different. I don't expect people to stop playing CVs, they appeal to crappy players, of which there are innumerable examples, and to the type of personality that enjoys making others miserable. WG knew this when it reworked CVs to become even more obvious damage farming mechanics.

Since they are ramming subs down our throat without asking the population if it wants them, testing them in Ranked is a good compromise. I imagine that they do not want to repeat the stupidity of the first months of the idiotic CV rework, in which Randoms was a testing ground, and yet no compensation was ever offered for using the players that way. I imagine complaints would be loud and nasty if they tested subs in Randoms. It will also be a good experience for all of us, since we can decide whether we want to continue playing the game after submarines arrive, and can enjoy a nice twilight of Randoms before the game is unalterably changed.

HE involves reciprocal risk, normally. Ships like Thunderer are broken but they are not unethical. The issue with smoke firing is that for a few moments the situation of reciprocal risk is broken. Usually it is limited, and yes, the smoke firer runs the risks of counterfire and torps. Just using an example to point out that CVs are basically smoke firing all the time, and there is no counterplay. Counterplay is especially important, because this is a game, in which players should have a rough balance of risks.

edited* There's a reason so many players hate being smoke-fired -- because for a few moments, there is no situation of reciprocal risk. Players detest situations without reciprocal risk, they know they are unfair, although they are often unable to articulate it in a way that others can understand well. That is the way it is with CVs. All the time. They are designed to be no-risk ships, unethical to either play or put in the game. That is why they are so widely hated, and hated most by the best players, who love this game. That is why there was an attempted boycott of CVs, and why they are banned -- even by WG -- from certain competitive events. edit: watch the language please

Could his ship have hit yours and vice versa? Were you not both taking risks? Why are you asking such a stupid question?
  19. Man, I'd hate to be the guy in charge of ammunition on that ship. "Now, where did I put the 12.7 Browning ammo??"
  20. Why even make this comment? The OP did excellent work. Hope it is rewarded with changes by WG.

It's unethical to play a ship that can hit others at no risk to itself. Players widely hate unethical, toxic mechanics like smoke firing, etc, in which player A can hit player B but player B can do nothing against it. Reciprocity is the basis of ethical action, in gaming, that boils down to shared and mutual risk in interactions. A CV risks nothing in hitting an opponent's ship, and there is no counter. As for making me miserable, if your goal is to make others miserable, then congrats, you've supplied powerful evidence for my position. Thanks!

It's not paranoia. It's rejection of a toxic, unethical mechanic. Which rises with PR, generally.

    General CV related discussions.

I'd just like to take a moment and thank the developers for putting this toxic mechanic in the game, watching DDs quit in Ranked because of it, eating torps in the middle of an otherwise enjoyable brawl with a fellow BB, and losing because the devs permit CV players with just 40 games in CVs and a 40% win rate in CVs to get into a T8 CV and play it in Ranked. I don't know what kind of mind thinks that CVs are fun for the other players, I am just glad I don't have it.

    Abusive Chat ban

Evidently they do. This company has the worst customer orientation of any firm I have ever dealt with for any length of time. Are other online games as badly run as this one?
  25. That is why they don't want to experience the reality of their decisions. Subs were a really stupid idea. Can't wait to see how badly they damage gameplay.
