The desire to communicate is great. The fact that you did so is great. Kudos. -
[PSA] Submarines participating in Random Battles in update 0.10.9.
SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
This is just disingenuous. No one has seriously asked that CLs and DDs be removed. They are by and large well-balanced and fun to play against. When your responses reach this level of bad, it's time to reflect for a moment on what a crapshow you guys have made of this game. Hear that sound? It's the sound of even more wallets slamming shut. And for the love of all that is holy in this world and the next, find a way to MEANINGFULLY compensate players in Randoms for doing sub testing for you.- 537 replies

Latest devblog: https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/214 Apparently WG has reacted to the unpopularity of submarines by buffing them.... who could have predicted that? LOL. "Submarines can now launch torpedoes one by one — this will make the gameplay more dynamic and will allow you to control the precise number of launched torpedoes. In order to make the submarine still use sonar ping for better accuracy of torpedoes, we increased the width of torpedo launch cone" OMFrickingG. Arent homing torps cheating enough already? Meanwhile cruisers w/o depth charges get the flying ASW armament. Poor cruiser drivers, have to manage guns, torps, position, ASW, dodging, sonar/radar, even secondaries.... but CV drivers can't be expected to do anything. I am going to LMAO when subs are played by like 4% of the playerbase. Just laugh and laugh.

CV players should rejoice -- think how many reports will be going to subs now, and not to them.- 537 replies

[Poll] How do you like new "Convoy" game mode?
SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
@YabbaCoe Can you guys make public the full range of stats for this mode -- ships played, ship wr/damage, victories by attacker/defender, victories for attacker/defender by map, etc? Feedback will be a lot more meaningful if players have more than their own anecdotal experience to go on. Right now it seems very balanced to me, and I can win pretty evenly as either side, I think. But I cant even see my own stats for this mode anywhere. -

I love seeing Kansas on the red team. It's a BB that's slow, easy to cit, and moves in predictable ways. Food. -
[Poll] How do you like new "Convoy" game mode?
SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Yep. I played Asashio in this mode. Once. Best DD is either Cossack for guns/torps/smoke, or Harekaze with torp booster, in my experience. It's a good compromise between torps with reach and guns. Oland also does well in this mode. I played Harekaze with the high ROF guns and torp booster, having a ton of fun. -
Heh. Can encounter Wall of Skill from Kiti. Or homing torps from a high tier sub, such joy! Or get wrecked by a top tier CV! I have no idea why anyone will ever leave spawn....

I have not had a single good experience playing against subs. Even sinking them is not enjoyable. Sad to watch the devs make this great game, and then struggle and struggle to destroy it. It's a tribute to the original conception and mechanics that it as been good for so long. What a shame and a waste. But I learned from Master of Orion III that any set of devs will destroy a game if they have it long enough.- 537 replies

[PSA] Submarines participating in Random Battles in update 0.10.9.
SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
""Another frequently cited point is the use of the Damage Control Party consumable to reset torpedo homing. We understand that for some of you this may seem counter-intuitive, but so far we do not see the need for changes in this area. We see it as an opportunity for you to work with the damage control - in this case you choose, depending on the situation, what is better to do: extinguish a fire, stop flooding, or get rid of torpedo homing. Moreover, the ping itself does not create an additional "load" on the Damage Control Party but only redistributes it."" I sometimes wish I had the combination of skill and malice it takes to write that kind of BS. That's unbelievable.- 537 replies

You're confused. it is players, not ships, that WG wants back in the queue.
-
The queue issue is the critical one for the devs, they are obsessed with it. Shorter matches put players back in the queue faster. That is why they flooded the game with CVs even though nobody wanted them, and made them pure damage farming machines. That arbitrary damage ensures that more players go back to the queue faster.
-
On numerous occasions. Sub_Octavian made that exact point in one of his speeches a couple of years ago, they also said they had a quota for CVs (why?). They also praised one of the new KOTS or CW formats, I forget which, as more "dynamic" because it was shorter, obviously showing, as if more proof were needed, that the devs dont play the game. They have also said that queue times are the number one cited reason people leave WOWs.....
-
I too have trouble with the logic of subs. The devs have repeatedly said they want shorter matches and praised them as more dynamic. CVs are there to shorten matches. So why add subs when they prolong matches? Although I am enjoying the way that subs which players dont want are canceling out CVs which players dont want. Hahahha.

[Poll] How do you like new "Convoy" game mode?
SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
What we need is a new thread focused on convoy suggestions... -
I think it is going to be like Smol. At first it is going to be a bit of a pathology, widely hated. Then everyone will focus the crap out of it, and Kitis will have a short happy life, and do nothing for their team. And then not be played much.

Hang on. Here is the data for the first 20 games of a 336 game set, so you can see it. I didn't start collecting radar until game 14. Radar GvR - radar green vs red. I stopped this dataset after 336 games since there was a major patch. I hand collected it at the beginning and end of matches. I tracked all sorts of stuff, including number of radar, ranked level (under the old system) and number of divisions, etc. among many other things.
-
at minimum, radar should be balanced. I put together over 1000 games of stats and tracked radar ships per team a couple of years ago. Stats showed that when the number of radars is low, the team with at least a +1 advantage in radar has a 60% chance of winning. WG knows this of course, so this is just another one of their lazy middle fingers to the player base.

How do you dodge locked on, homing torps?

What is your Favorite Premium Ship Released this Year?

Well... it's fun, but not as good as Massa, because it has no armor. You can get your sides blown out from almost any angle or distance. -
How do you dodge locked on, homing torps?
SodaBubbles replied to Lord0's topic in General Discussion
ASW is nice, and it is good to remove those pointless, stupid pests, but unfortunately ASW can't stop homing torps. What we need is a mechanic to deploy against homing torps, and we won't get that, since if sub players had to think and plan and work for their damage, they would not play subs. -
How do you dodge locked on, homing torps?
SodaBubbles replied to Lord0's topic in General Discussion
If they are coming from a long way off, you can sometimes dodge them just as you would dodge ordinary torps. Usually you can dodge one, but since the sub puts 4 torps into the water, at least three hit. This torp cheat is one of the dumbest mechanics WG has ever invented, and that's a very low standard indeed. Its use is obvious, and exactly the same as CVs: to cause extra, arbitrary damage that the player would otherwise not suffer when DCP is blown and the ship is set afire or torped. This pointless, stupid damage, incurred by existing in the game (and often, playing aggressively and well) puts players back in the queue faster. The devs are obsessed with queue times and want players returned to the queue as rapidly as possible. I am just glad I dont have the kind of mind that thinks that homing torps are a good idea.
