The Most Popular Ships In The Game
SodaBubbles replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
That was me, over 700 games in it taught me a lot about playing WOWs. Man, I miss those days.... -
WG, Give us the option to play games without subs.
SodaBubbles replied to RamboCras's topic in Archive
You notice that they didn't supply the numbers for the survey question asking if subs were ready for randoms. If they gave us the option to play w/o them, nobody would choose to play with subs. There is nothing fun about them, and the homing torps are a ridiculous travesty.- 6 replies

Why is Colombo so garbage and what's the point of SAP
SodaBubbles replied to Itwastuesday's topic in General Discussion
Kremlin also tanks like crazy as well. That's a hidden advantage of the Russian BBs. They are very hard to kill, and unless you can get on their broadside, it takes forever to erode them. It's not a coincidence that Russian BBs are the tech tree leaders in most tiers. I hate seeing them on the other team, they are ridiculous travesties of BBs. -

Ha. I had same question about Republique. That thing is excellent, my go-to bote if my div mates want to play T10. But that's pretty much the answer. -
So this is what games will look like...
SodaBubbles replied to PaxtonQuigly's topic in General Discussion
That is the worst part. Even after the catastrophe that was the aircraft carrier rework WD still maintained that it was a good thing. After experiencing the sociopathology that is sub homing torps combined with the sociopathology that is Dutch Cruiser air power in a recent ranked match, I'm utterly sick of this game. I had 2199 base in Alabama, won the match, and stopped playing for the day because that was such a totally negative experience. How anyone could think that Subs with homing torps are a good idea is beyond me. Just read the comments on the recent YouTube announcement of Subs coming to random in 10.9. Except for the comments about Dasha's unexcelled beauty, every comment was negative. It takes a very special mind to ignore that feedback. -

Once again, just want to thank WG for a great gaming experience! There's nothing like being stalked by a cheat torp bote AND a cheat Dutch air bomber. So much garbage in such a tiny space! What a fantastic gaming experience! I hope whoever thought up those cheat torps spends eternity in hell in a Mikasa surrounded by a dozen cheat torp botes. What a shame the devs keep flooding the game with sociopathologies. ADDED: Finished first that Ranked game with 2199 base XP and a victory. Any game like that should be good, but it was a complete garbage experience. I signed off in disgust after that "win". Thanks devs. -
Credit where credit is due as they say - personal challenges looks pretty nice

Totally agree. Great addition to the game. -
The Most Popular Ships In The Game
SodaBubbles replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
I just downloaded the data from Suihei Koubou for top 25 most-played ships except (old) versions, most recent quarter ending Sept 25: Respectively: tier, name, # of players, # of games. Except for Petra, none of the broken Russians are here. No CVs either. Instead, you have basically a list of ships that for various reasons are fun to play. It's a tribute to the early work of the devs that Montana, Des Moines, Tirp, Yug, Shim, Colorado, and Yammy are all still there. -
Rules say coop, ranked, and random all ok for personal challenges. So I took out Vampire II on NA server and got 380 base. I received nothing and the table did not change. Did i not understand something or is it broken?

Personal Challenge not updating -- anyone else.

Others reported that first mission did not work but second one did. My second one also worked. Seems to be a problem only with the first mission. -
That was an amazing communication. 1) It sounded sincere. 2) It contained new information, in new formats, information that bore directly on player concerns. 3) It showed clear responses to player feedback. It even heeded feedback in some cases, though as with the idiotic CV rework, they are obviously not going to give up the cheat torps. Otherwise subs couldn't function at all. HINT: if you have to put in a toxic cheat mechanic, you've conceded that the vehicle does not belong in the game. 4) It was long and thorough. Great work. 5) There was none of the malicious, distorted "urinate on my limb and tell me its raining" crap we saw in the last communication. I am sure everyone had their favorite, but for me: "Moreover, the ping itself does not create an additional "load" on the Damage Control Party but only redistributes it"" really sucked. Omissions: since subs are being rammed down our throats, as with CVs, the devs are careful not to hand out information on their actual popularity. I was totally shocked when they asked in the survey if subs were ready for randoms. Obviously the answer was overwhelmingly "no" since no data on that was supplied. It's why they never ask anything about CVs, because they know how hated they are. Overall, this missive was totally a step in the right direction. Many thanks to whoever put it together. Thanks for the free resets. Much appreciated. And thanks for finally taking a step in the right direction.

This by a million. WG knows perfectly well 2v2 CV matches are crap and players hate them. They shove them in T4 on purpose.

With all the new Battleships getting 457mm guns, do you feel sometimes outgunned /undergunned in a lower caliber Ship like Montana?
SodaBubbles replied to Cirno9999's topic in General Discussion
Often Montana feels like a quaint relic of a bygone era. -
[PSA] Submarines participating in Random Battles in update 0.10.9.
SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
If you choose to play a CV or a sub, toxic griefer mechanics, it makes you a toxic griefer. That simple. No one holds a gun to the heads of sub or CV drivers and forces them to hurt others and reduce their game enjoyment. Toxic griefer mechanics are a sure sign that a type is incompatible with the game. If you have to give subs cheat torps just to make them competitive, you've conceded that you have failed and subs dont fit. -

When people play well you should thank them. Even a player like me who wants to play in a cancer-free environment can praise a CV for doing well. But that hardly changes things, for I am also aware that the game is not just about me, but about all 24 players in it, and our CV just made the red players miserable. Mostly, when I see our CV hitting red ships, I feel sorry for them. I don't feel any sense of joy, because I know they have had their game ruined in many cases. Knowing that, I have never played CVs against humans, and never will. -
Grind in advance? (regarding GK & Khabar)
SodaBubbles replied to ZeuSueZ1337's topic in General Discussion
What is the logic behind making GK a freemium and adding a tech tree ship. Why not just add the new T10 German as a premium? What am I missing? -
[PSA] Submarines participating in Random Battles in update 0.10.9.
SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
It won't be the end of days. Toxic griefer mechanics like CVs and subs are aimed at a specific personality type that is very common in the gaming world, the kind of person who likes crapping on others at little risk to themselves. They dont much like thinking either. Such individuals degrade any social situation they are in, not just games. Certainly something called "World of Warships" will live on. It will not, however, be the wonderful game we knew prior to the CV rework that did immense harm to the game. I imagine subs will be the same. Already many players I know are planning to curtail their play once subs go live in Randoms. -

SodaBubbles replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Because they are fun only for the person playing them, not for the person being targeted by them. Any one-sided mechanic whose purpose is only to cause harm to others, is by definition a toxic griefer mechanic. -
I was skip bombed in Alabama by that Russian cheat boat. The bombs bounced twice then hit me for fires and a pile of damage, 11k in first attack. He did that to me twice, there's nothing I could do since anti-aircraft fire is a mere placebo designed to make the player feel something is happening while actually nothing is happening. Needless to say, the skip bombers add nothing to the game. In Harekaze today a unicum in one of the Russian cheat boats made three passes at me with bombs and torpedoes and finished me. I hardly play any Russian ships since they are so obviously broken in most cases. I'm so glad that I stopped spending money on this game. The developers have just wrecked it.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
SodaBubbles replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Surviving so many dull, wasteful, stupid, losing, crapfests with CVs. -
Yep. That was super easy to predict.
-
Carnot. Yoshi meme torps are fun, but Carnot is tankier and the AP is divine. Through five games I am averaging 111K damage in Carnot. Mount double rudder and enjoy dodging BB shells while you burn them, then pushing up to AP everything to death.

Submarines - How to make the best of a bad situation.
SodaBubbles replied to Gvozdika's topic in General Discussion
I will do what I did when they used Randoms to test the idiotic ReWreck of CVs -- just go do something else. The game is in a horrible state right now, and subs are only going to make it worse. I expect a number of my clanmates to leave once subs appear in Randoms. WG doesn't care, sadly, about people leaving or the state of the game. -
In nearly 400 games at T7 in three-person divisions in the run up to the idiotic CV rework, my div mates and I averaged almost exactly 70% on NA. We don't use cheats, we are just good. You are in a clan and you have over 700 battles in divisions.
