    Desperately needed: -- Aiming points for depth charges. I should not have to play "now where do my depth charges drop on this bote" every time I take out a ship. -- The use of a dedicated consumable for stopping the idiotic sub pings, instead of Damage Control Party. -- Submarines should be detectable at ALL depths by sonar. -- Sub torp range should be under 8 kms -- longer ranged ASW aircraft for cruisers and for lower tier BBs. -- AA should not be triggered by ASW aircraft

    Has anyone specified ASW ship upgrades or Captain skills?

    I have several of them on different cruisers, but they dont seem to make any difference, as the sub is more likely to kill me than I am to kill it. I had another fun and engaging moment when a sub killed me at point-blank range in Carnot the other day -- with sonar running, I never saw any torps. Genius game design. Subs suck. Proud to say I will never ruin another human players game with that garbage.

    We obviously can't get rid of either of those cancerous mechanics. WG's business model depends on the arbitrary damage of CVs. But maybe we can get wargaming to concede that having both in the same random match is a really stupid idea.
  4. "a unique gameplay experience" -- unique in being the first mechanic that has absolutely no redeeming value, I guess. Homing torps aren't going to be removed, that's obvious. "currently we believe it works as a concept" is a remark that shows that the devs are totally out of touch with the game. This is the same mind that once said they hoped to have three CVs per match....
  5. I honestly dont believe they massage the numbers. You only have to look at the seminal post in which they dropped a bunch of numbers on us for the first time ever. Great post. Kudos. Want to see more. Two things stood out for me. One was the weird way they measured damage. It shows their idea of ship behavior is different than that of the people who use their product. The other was the omissions. The playerbase complained about subs extending coop matches, but the data given was on randoms. They also did not show us the data for the survey question on whether subs were ready for randoms. Omitting is what corporations do when data reflects badly on them.

    Quitting. I know a couple, and many others, including myself with 40K games on three servers, thinking of quitting. The other issue is people curtailing play. I got on today.... played three awful unenjoyable games, including a total garbage match with CVs and two subs -- and yet we all warned WG that CVs and subs can't be in the same match. No listening there! So frustrating that a simple thing like that is ignored. So my div mates and I exited the game and I did no grinding either of my reset ship in coop. I just closed the game and did some work. The game is just so bad now.

    Dude, no one is dinging you because they are incompetent. They are dinging you because subs and CVs make the game suck, as ample forum and reddit posts attest. If falling Karma causes you to feel so bad you have to post about it, stop playing ships that other players hate. Then you won't get dinged. Instead play BBs, CAs, and DDs, which help create a fun time for other players.

    He actually popped in there again. I have seen the staff and mods make this stupid analogy about getting dev struck again and again. It appears they actually believe it. The reason people put up with unfun moments in the BB--CA--DD interaction is because most of the time it is fun. That is a D'oh so vast, it could power California for a year if it were converted to energy. There is no interaction with subs that is fun to balance the sheer anti-fun idiocy of homing torps, pings, and the use of DCP. Every minute of interacting with a sub is a complete waste of time that could be used to do something fun. Even killing subs isn't fun, it is just a dirty, stupid, dangerous job that has to be done.

    The use of cancer as a metaphor is quite old in English. So is its use in this game to describe aircraft carriers. So I don't see any need to stop, especially since any other metaphor would be just as ugly. Those mechanics are garbage and should not be near this game.

    We need more Tech Tree Lines

    One thing that would really help is them giving up the idea that lines must extend to T10. Then we could have separate navies for Spain, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey/Ottomans that go up to T5 and T6 without silly fantasy ships. A short Indian line for the WW2 and the postwar era beginning at T6 or T7 might be possible in DD and cruiser lines. There are probably enough ships for a second US DD line. Separate battlecruiser lines for US and UK and perhaps Japan also possible.

    The game does not need either, and choosing between Benthic Cancer and Sky Cancer is an empty choice, both lead to stagnant, tactically sterile play.
  16. Not understanding this. Didn't the broken Russian Supership carry you to victory? I am sure that thing could carry two Mikasas to victory in Brawl.

    My advice is always to spam games in T2-4 IJN DDs. Playing those successfully will teach you how to read a minimap and how to react to the game flow so that you are always where you need to be to get torp hits, and how to grab that golden moment so that you can cap the other team out. It will teach you how to place torps in potential lanes of movement even when you cant see the ships. It will also teach you the importance of getting hits with DD guns. IJN DD guns hurt. Once you understand how a torp DD thinks it will become easier to hunt DDs in BBs -- a very enjoyable aspect of the game -- and avoid their torps.

    Unfortunately WG has decided monetizing griefer mechanics is the way to go. So this who thread is pointless. Homing torps are exactly the kind of griefer mechanic the devs love. Meanwhile, you're talking about a marketing team so inept, we have two types of ships, CVs and subs, that hardly anyone wants in the game, but the whole game has been re-arranged for, while we dont even have a f*cking cart in the f*cking premium shop. Probably could have sold more stuff with a cart in the premium shop than the money they have made off CVs. English needs to coin a new word for behavior this stupid.

    Just remove them from Randoms. Then their brokenness wont matter. It's sad that we had the same exact discussions about CVs three years ago. WG sucks hard.
