I think a lot of people are vastly underestimating the potential of Marlborough.

Lots and lots and lots of ideas about how to handle subs in Randoms. Reams of constructive posts about what to do about them. There was even a post in NA in the first iteration of subs that had some influence. But devs won't listen to the important constructive feedback -- put them in their own mode. ...Because the devs are marketing to griefers. They love griefing mechanics like CVs because they get players back into the queue as fast as possible -- battles with CVs are on average shorter and more likely to be collapses. I collected 00s of games of data on those questions. They detest long, excellent battles because they are slow. That is why they hate DDs and nerfed the IJN torps, because they stretched out battle times. And that is why we are getting subs in randoms -- they will speed things up even further. If you play them, you're just a griefer, mining the decline of the game for your own fun, and hurting others' enjoyment.

All feedback is constructive. it's just that the definition of "constructive" you're working with is "helps WG wreck the game with sociopathic mechanics aimed at players who like griefing others" Constructive feedback is "Subs are bad for the game, give them their own mode" which is the most common feedback.

Because we're the overwhelming majority on all four servers.

Really just don't want to see it in Randoms. There's no reason it can't be a separate mode that alternates with something like Convoy.

It's a lot of fun in Coop. I won't take any of them into Randoms, this new line is MUCH too easy to cit and the gimped range makes it difficult to get into position to do damage in the current HE spam, long range meta. Dont want to encounter T10s in it either. I am currently waiting for Asymmetric battles to start -- plan to finish the German grinds in that. Should be a lot of fun in there.
-
It's doable. Hard, but doable, the last mission is going to be insane. There's no need to put that massive grind wall there, tho. So wrong.

It so amazing, the lengths they are going to monetize this game, when.... they haven't even bothered to put a cart in the premium shop. D'oh.

pay2win - in WoWs not really, but how much does it help?
SodaBubbles replied to BoxOfAngryBees's topic in General Discussion
Flags for achievements is dead. The devs took it away, their principle is never to specifically reward good play. I supplied myself with signals very reliably that way on my F2P EU account, but when they removed that, I dialed back play. -
Dammit. I blocked the term 'NFT' on most of my social media websites.....

This thread makes me wish I could gift or sell certain of my premiums to others. I have the Asashio but never play it, I think it is on the wrong side of the gimmickbote-grieferbote line. I wouldn't mind gifting it. If only there were some way we could swap/gift, and then I lost all right to future acquisition of the Asashio (meaning, for example, I could never get it from a supercrate). Would it upset the game economy too much?

Closed test 0.11.0, Early access to Pan-Asian cruiser, Asymmetric battle and other news. (DB 254)

11.0 drops in Jan? Too bad, was looking forward to Asymmetric Battles. -
CV enthusiasts, let's talk about Nakhimov
SodaBubbles replied to Bindolaf_Werebane's topic in General Discussion
There's nothing underwhelming about it. It's a broken griefing ship that is zero fun for the players who the CV decides to grief, or the players on the Nak's own team who have suffer under the griefer on the other team. Subs are stupid, but for sheer hold-my-beer sociopathology, CVs take the cake. My first game was the old hunt the Bismarck on the Atari. CVs in WOWs are beyond question the worse "game" design I have ever encountered. -
yes, if KGV is any guide, she's going to be wicked.

"Historical accuracy" and what it says about WG's attitude toward players
SodaBubbles replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
But it was an articulate, erudite complaint. -
You can keep re-iterating this, and you're not wrong in principle, but 000s of players make the same choice that I do. If I play T8, I bring a BB or a DD. I seldom play T8 cruisers in Randoms, except Mainz, since I stopped playing Kutuzov a couple of years ago. I love Baltimore and Atago but never play them, because of their gimped range and the ease with which T10 BBs can destroy them. It's simply a terrible gaming experience running around in terror of broken 17" gunned BBs that can dev strike you at any range. The constant uptiering also means that T8 premiums dont sell as well as they should. I would have liked Bayard, but why on earth would I or anyone else pay to be a fodder bote for the big boys? WG monkeyed with the MM once before in an attempt to get people to buy more T8 premiums. What we need is a one-tier MM spread or else a policy of preventing people from reaching T10 right away, so there are fewer players up there. Right now the MM makes T7 and T8 suck. I mostly avoid them now, prefer to play T6 and T9, especially the latter.

Have submarines become irrelevant?
SodaBubbles replied to Bindolaf_Werebane's topic in General Discussion
Let us hope they are irrelevant and seldom played, since the devs seem bound and determined to make us eat them. -
Alas, subs can't either. The devs WILL have their arbitrary damage mechanics....

1. I noticed recently that when I bring a DD to a halt inside a cap, I sometimes slowly start drifting in another direction, often outside the cap circle, as if there were a current pushing me. Are there currents in the game? Or is something else at work? 2. Ships rise and fall visually due to waves, especially DDs. Is that a visual effect only, or if I timed the shells right, could I punch through the hull armor under the ship?

Ah, thanks!

There are several of these, on Solomons and Ring they affect BBs. Good luck getting them to fix a simple QOL thing like this. I've tried.

Poll: Should Arms Race be Added to Randoms
SodaBubbles replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
Upon further review, still hard no for Randoms. As a couple of people above noted, you can't recover once you're down two ships. Almost every game is a boring, stupid collapse -- a complete waste of time. Perhaps that's a function of T10, but I think that might not be all of it. Lots of people playing ships they cant play at tiers they can't handle. It might work better without the buffs -- what if the cap circles were just 100 points each or something, and you had to collect them to win on points? The buffs distort the statistics but do not offer better and more interesting game play. -
Ranked Battles: Need more than seven on a team.
SodaBubbles replied to The_Angry_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, that always happens to me with women when one member goes missing.... -
it's the only explanation.

Those are the non-Russian ships.
