    Waterline (DB 147)

Lesson of the day: Cool ships don't care if the ship they sunk was an ally or an enemy, they just kill and look away

Quick q: What's a good MvR build these days?

That doesn't make it less strong. German CVs are AP focused, so its a bit more difficult, but once you master it, you blast botes left right and center.

Quick q: What's a good MvR build these days?

what? MVR is far from dead. He is far from mediocre. One of the only CVs that can go toe to toe with FDR.

Quick q: What's a good MvR build these days?

Well as far as the MVR goes, it is quite the strong CV. I play it frequently and regularly get 150K games. And I am not the greatest at CV even after playing all the four lines. I just can't get good games in any other CVs that isn't German (except Zeppelin ofc). And best thing is, with the new Rocket nerf, it means that this CV can be countered, but if you ignore it, then it will strike you hard. This is my build, but I'd suggest looking at more builds, coz again, I am a pretty average CV player. Here is the build:- https://wowsft.com/ship?index=PGSA110&modules=12221&upgrades=121412&commander=PCW001&skills=5833482&flags=3387&consumables=11&pos=0 My planes have good enough strike potential imo Well its more of a generalist build. I have good restoration time. Good conceal, becoz late game I like to push in a bit and use my secs, coz I am a bit of a meme boi. Improved speed of the planes and their survivability. I can sacrifice concealment and the one pointer Improved engines for extra AP bomb and rocket damage and less torp arming. If yu wanna be serious, you could drop secs for the three pointer stabalization skill, and a one pointer, extra torp speed and any thing else, more plane tankiness, More bomber speed, etc. Quite a lot of options to choose from.

    Air rework suggestion

Not a bad suggestion. I suggest you rethink it and made a second post regarding this on this thread or the dedicated CV thread

Did WG support have a policy change?

Its a game. Don't take it srsly. You get hurt? Hurt them back. Doesn't matter what mode it is. Other wise, send the replay to Jingles. And I play Ranked coz It gives me fun matches at times, and is a great place for secs. But since they are literally adding subs to Ranked, they just gave a another reason to not take Ranked srsly

    Republique

Well you bought the Repub at the wrong time. Before the rework, you had the most secondary range at 12.1 and GK was like at 11.6. The guns were fairly inaccurate but you still hit most of your fire, and you were a nightmare to DDs, and if taking IFHE, you were a nightmare to cruisers, if the guns weren't enough. But she was this amazing flanker back in the day, with accurate, fast reloading 17 inch guns (It was my favorite ship, until I replayed the GK and unlocked Bourgogne), good secs and great speed. So treat it as such nowadays The secs won't work, so build into main battery and tanking skills, and you can take swift in silence in the future if you want. I ran dead eye on Repub, and now I don't play it as much, coz she is fairly boring now, although a good reload and a good game can give you some fun. Play it as a Flanker. This is my build PT can help quite a lot, Expert loader is very nice to have to switch ammo, and IFA is for the long range throttle jukes, which can be pretty funny Also remember, the only guys you should trade with are low caliber BBs, and super cruisers. Don't trade with anything else. Try to kill the cruisers as fast as you can, as they can be a threat if kept alive in the endgame

Did WG support have a policy change?

I always believe in this way to deal with A holes like that:- 1. Warn him 2. If he doesn't listen, either inform the entire team about this player and request them to report him, and then send the replay to Jingles and explain the whole situation. He has a fairly good reach and will embarrass him good ( I don't do this usually but did send a replay and luckily that battle was featured but from the perspective of our friendly Colorado). 3. Or we use my way. Hit the bastard with his own medicine by taking away all his HP away to the point where I can't damage him anymore, and the revealing his location to the enemy team in case he is not spotted.

    Waterline (DB 147)

Did become pink coz I had an ally DD with me rushing the BBs, and he ate one of my torps and sank, when I clearly warned him so yeah. Didn't regret it tho. Feel pretty proud of myself
  10. totally_potato

Yes, another commander skill rework rant

He is mostly right about the first two points Third point is half right and half wrong. Just coz there is obstacles in the way that doesn't mean DDs should stop spotting Fourth point is right
  11. Wtf is going on. You make skills that are either down right useless, or broken overpowered or too overpriced. Can't you find a middle ground? You are also destroying what makes this game fun for many ppl. Pushing in. Introducing all these HE spam cruiser, or SAP spammers like Austin, is making pushing in very tough. The guys before the commander rework, didn't realize the value of pushing in, so I though that this commander rework, you would actually introduce skills that encourage pushing. Like wtf? You introduced a skill that basically makes ppl stay even further back. And not becoz of the buff it provides, but becoz of the condition. That's so dumb. There is only one pushing in rewarding skill that heavily overpriced, and with another dumb condition (if there is a visible target within in sec range). You could have made it, if there are ships within your detection range (visible or not). That would give players atleast one reason to push. Many more things you could have introduced. And there were way better ways to fix Dead eye, but you chose the easy way and removed it completely and replaced with a skill that is barely useful and criminally overpriced. Now I know the whole game just can't brawl and brawl fiesta, and all kinds of ships should exist aka snipers, brawlers and mid range ships (flankers, position holders etc). But you could have done so much more. To fix dead eye, you could have done this:- Just giving a flat accuracy boost of 5% to 7% would have been enough while maybe 5% turret traverse nerf in return. That would be a solid tier 4 skill point. Then for other skills - And then they could give the BB AP skill the 7.5% damage its finally getting now, 10% penetration boost, at the cost of turret survival (not much, maybe 7%) and a detonation chance increase. That's 7 skill points to make a sniper build if you combine the Dead eye, I propose. Buff the Manual secondary skill to give 55% boost to accuracy in secs, and Anti torpedo defense skill (basically combined Vigilance and the Anti torp skill combined) as a three point skill (Maybe reduce the flooding duration or chance by 5%?). Boom brawler build. AA build already exists and criminally underrated, and yes I tried it, and its very powerful on American and French BBs. Add some maneuverability boost skills like a two pointer, that reduces time to full speed by 40% at tier two. Then onto a build that would be fairly unique and good for flanking BBs, or just very maneuverable BBs that aren't very tanky. A maneuverability skill at tier four that buffs turret traverse by 5%, rudder shift time by 20%, turning circle radius by 10%, maybe fire duration and flooding duration by 10%. Swift in silence as a three pointer which works like this (ship speed increased by 10% when there are no visible ships in you detection range, and if there are two ships visible in your detection range, then the effect is lost, while for a passive nerf, have the HP pool nerfed by 5% since for speed, a ship needs to lose armor, but since that really is hard to implement, an HP nerf by 5% isn't too bad). Boom Agility build. And tank builds exist. Also as a side note, buff ERS (that one point tank skill) from 3% cooldown reduction to 5%. Then the consumable specialist like skills (those one and two point skills can give universal consumable reduction and duration increase (except for Heal and Damage con, which have their own slots). Boom!! That's six builds:- Sniper build Brawling build AA build Maneuverability build Tank build JoAT build with focus on consumable enhancement and overall tank and gun power. Did I forget to mention the number of hybrid builds one can run on these skills that make up these five builds And I am just a normal player here. I'll make serious flaws here, since the skills I have thought out aren't out of 100 hours of thinking. I could have made some flaws here and there. I can think of better skills than what WG currently has, but if WG thought with atleast 10 brain cells per person, they would make even better skills than me. They could make a freaking base build for 10 points, which makes players with 10 point commanders, much more comfortable in battles. Think of the number of well thought out skills, synergizing together making beautiful build if WG (not the entire company, I meant the guys who design this crap) had some level of common sense, intelligence, and experience of playing the game. Often when you think about the guys who make the game, you expect these guys to be very very experienced guys who know every corner of this game and can be up their with the most competitive players. But not them. Now this is more ranting and constructive criticism combined than either focused, but I just wanted to highlight another issue of the game that was formed by WG in the first place by touching the commander skills. WoW was such a simple game with a few basic knowledge required to play. Now its too complex.

I don't care much about that, as I have a good old stock pile of commander XP lying around. But yes, that is an issue, but that's not the point here This is about the skills presented to us in this rework and more.

I think I know what he was talking about, but the way he said it is wrong. Tha amagi when angled does take massive damage but its not becoz BBs overmatch it. Its coz there is a lot of superstructure on Amagi that arms the shells, or so many overpins ultimately does a fair amount of damage. This is present for all BBs except the lower tiers ones without superstructure like Imperator Nikolai. And as long as large superstructures exist, you don't need a whole lot of overmatch as you can do 10k volleys through superstructure with a well aimed shot
  14. totally_potato

Yes, another commander skill rework rant

yeah, secondary and AA skills together will make them stronger, and wanting to spec for AA will give you more powerful secs as a bonus and vice versa. But there should be builds like that available for 7 points, while the tank build, sniper build, etc should be for 11 points.

    Waterline (DB 147)

Paolo Emilio begs to differ Yoshino 20km torps tho are just dumb
  16. totally_potato

Siegfried and Colbert suffered so much commander skill rework

I agree with Siegfried but it was nerfed in order to makes players get attracted to the Napoli. Colbert is fine tho Combination of French maneuverability, good AA, highest DPM in the game of any ship, good stealth and a buffed SE can make this ship a monster. 16 km is fine, as her ballistics are so damn bad, that 16km is fine for her. And she still has ridiculous DPM. I'd say her rudder shift is a bit lacking tho.

It could have been if it had 9km conceal. Oh wait Zao exists. I guess I stick to Prinz Eugen and Atago, as they are pretty good.

Yes, another commander skill rework rant

I said 5%. That's 24 second reload for odin, and the benefits are 10% more pin, and more alpha, which is a DPM increase from 220K to 226K and more pin. Check it yourself, if you don't believe me. Remember 5% reload nerf, 7.5% alpha buff, 10% pin buff. I mean BBs can't be a black hole and absorb everything. That'd be quite a sight tho. But jks aside, negating the damage saves it HP, that it can use to tank for the team, which makes it tank damage in the long run. I had a question tho. BBs did have better dmg control parties relatively compared to cruisers and DDs irl. Then why in game, do their fires burn more than DDs or cruisers? Also damage control teams on certain nations were better than others. So why the exact time? For eg. American dmg control teams were better than Japanese You can't change plating. That'd be ridiculous, and it changes the model a bit. Modules survival can be buffed by lowering the chance of it breaking. Fire lasts very little with a proper build. So yes it is the optimal build. Another reason, is that the other skills are terrible compared to these. Yes it does very little, but every little helps. There were situations where with main armaments module I lost 75% of my AA in two salvos, while with it I only lost 50%. It helps. No, the point of this commander skill rework was completely lost. Yes we gained many quality of life features, but we lost so much in exchange for that.

but srsly, I like this concept. Maybe keep the overmatch same at all ranges for Shikishima and Yamato, coz their armor scheme is so trash. Otherwise, just remove that cheek armor weakness, and apply this mechanic. Idk. The more I think about this, the more the complications, yet I somehow feel like this could be amazing.

Yes, another commander skill rework rant

actually, I would have agreed on you with this. But the commander rework did one thing for sec builds. Its just 7 points now, if you just wanna buff the secs. Look at this GK build for eg. I run this on my all my high tier German BBs I am not sacrificing as much. An alternative can be done, where you remove the rudder shift module, and but the damage con mod 2, and then swap out BoS for AR. Am I sacrificing tank skills as much as I was doing before? Nope. What am I sacrificing tho? A heal, AR (only in this configuration).

Yes, another commander skill rework rant

Even I do, but many don't, or they just don't care about it. Even I don't remember at times. Like it was fine to the extent of 16 inch overmatch cruisers, 18.1 Inch overmatches BBs. But now you have to remember all kinds of platings and overmatch apart from there. I can't keep all of them in my brain, since like I said, I have a life and job beyond this and have to remember more than just game mechanics that get more complicated by the day. That's actually not a bad idea. Not being able to overmatch at long range might actually encourage pushing to some extent. I didn't even troll you KEKW. You said this which is kinda funny since you didn't
  24. totally_potato

Yes, another commander skill rework rant

yes those are core concepts and that was always what players always needed to know. But rework after rework made the game even more complex and rubbish. Then overmatch calculations were also not needed. All you needed to know was Yamato overmatches all the bows, 16 inch guns overmatched all the bows of cruisers and below, while 15 inch guns can overmatch everything at T7 and below. That's all that was necessary. But now all kinds of plating come, and you can't remember everything. Its tough considering you have a life beyond a game. You never did
  25. totally_potato

Yes, another commander skill rework rant

That is all you needed to know to play WoW properly. That is all the standard player needed to know. But its way more complex now. Its not WoT complex which is kinda stupid, but its way more complex than what it once was, which drew me to this game.
