I would like a refund please, WG
totally_potato replied to Lexmechanic's topic in General Discussion
I believe Shikishima's advertising was her gun caliber and performance as well as good AA and secondaries. What's their answer when one of them is taken away? They have other features to make up for it. Can we nerf Petropavlovsk, by giving her CL armor. And then say she has "other" characteristics to make up for it- 154 replies

ST 0.10.7, changes to submarines (DB 188)
totally_potato replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
you gotta remember that the silent majority mostly don't care about game balance. They just ask for what they want, and if they don't like the game, they just leave to try something else, instead of criticizing WG's dev team for their incompetence in that aspect. In this case, they like CVs and Subs, becoz they look easy and they like the idea. Just saying, polls mean jackshit here -

ok so you increased speed, dmg and increased detection range?? And you increased duration but reduced range for hydrophone Interesting, except not really -
oh wow, no stats for Bearn or Tulsa Maybe create a concept and a statistics note for the ships before announcing them??

I changed it a slight bit. What do you think of it? Should I change something about it? P.S The red skills are attack and blue are defense/versatility Edit) P.S.S Forgot to add this: Bonus to the main battery accuracy and ship speed is now activated when there are not only more visible enemy ships than allies, but also the same number of them within the firing range of your ship's main battery. The bonus will also be active when there are both no enemy or allied ships within the firing range of your ship's main battery.

Christopher Columbo the best Italian BB?
totally_potato replied to DaBung's topic in General Discussion
well I personally think the Italian BBs were some of the best to come out. Like well balanced ships, that provide something different to the table. They are inconsistent at sniping distance, but you aren't meant to snipe, but well, some ppl try to make a Yamato win a brawl vs a GK, so yeah. For the best BB, idk I love Roma the most. But Cristoforo Columbo is def tied with Roma as the best Italian BB tier for tier. CC is such a good ship. So many guns, SAP, smoke, good armor, good speed. Just what I expected and wanted for my Italian BBs. And the nice fact is that if you shoot both Ammo in different circumstances then you are rewarded, and you are not if you don't, unlike something like Thunderer.- 10 replies

Best ships for t6, t8 & tX ranked? (4. season, w. subs)
totally_potato replied to ZeuSueZ1337's topic in General Discussion
DDs are gonna be very good here. Especially AP DDs that take the AP skill I suppose high impact cruisers will be good. Petro good as usual For BBs, the one which carry ASW armarment and decent high explosive shells. IJN Bbs are gonna be very good becoz they have all that. Haven't seen the new secondaries in action vs subs, becoz I played my sec GK in randoms. -
completely dissatisfied WG, CV rework, Captain rework
totally_potato replied to RuaMat's topic in General Discussion
1) Whether anyone likes it or not, a CV rework was actually needed. Becoz the playerbase consists of idiots, and well strategic gameplay isn't very popular. So while the RTS CVs were good, you can blame the playerbase. And what we got out of this rework was terrible, but a rework for CVs or a straight up god buff to them was needed. They decided to take the rework, but my god did they mess it up big time. A rework was needed, but a rework to make CVs a better class overall for everyone, and not y'know breaking the game in the process. 2) And I appreciate the rocket change honestly. Like the main issue of CV vs DDs is the fact that the DD was spotted and then shot at by the rest of the team. But with rockets you spotted + guaranteed dmg. So a CV isn't reliant on the team, while the team is reliant on the CV, in this case. So this change made the game better. Becoz in a DD, the core issue remained of getting spotted by CV, and then focused briefly by a few of the enemy cruisers and BBs, while removing the unnecessary dmg. Also this made the CV a bit reliant on the team as well, which leads to better class interaction imo. This also increased the number of DDs, and therefore the number of cruisers, while BBs kind of stepped down from a dominance a bit. 3) I am sorry what? Umm what strong AA? Crazy strong AA on DDs? Aka Halland and Elbing? Like their AA is good, but not crazy strong. What cruisers have strong AA? The aforementioned AA cruisers like DM, Worcester don't. Minotaur AA also doesn't downright stop strikes. You still get some damage out of the process. Yes Dutch cruisers have good AA gimmick, but they never stop the first strike. But once can argue its a case of make a problem and sell a solution. Did I forget to mention that with the captain rework they seperated AA skills from secondary skills. So while the AA skills in theory look better than the pre-captain rework AA skills, the fact that they cost an extra 6-7 points out of 21 points, when you want the make your build as versatile as possible. Ig they are kind of fixing it by adding anti-sub perks on these skills. So its more Anti-non surface combatant skills now, but still, from a build where you either want tankiness or secondaries. But hey, you can get creative and figure a build out. Now AA bubbles. AA bubbles require 2+ more teammates bundled up which means they make their team a bit weaker on the sides they could have been at, it requires those ships to have good AA, with them prepared for the strike, which again is depending on the ship. Like so many factors and when it does work it finally counters planes. Like what do you expect or want? Just blindly get into an AA bubble, casually do 10k dmg and leave scott free? 4) Also the fact that you got damage under heavy AA fire should be good enough. Like this isn't constructive criticism, this is someone who is whining, CVs are weak and all, without think on what he is stating. If you are facing high tier ships, you can still spot them for your team? You can pick on the weaker of the ships and pick up important kills, you can create this cross fire potential, etc etc 5) Yes true, but they are bringing back secondaries and the whole thing is cheaper. 6) Umm have you looked at the trend? Rocket planes being nerfed has an intention. What I have stated above are the good things that happened with the change. However, rockets are the ultimate sub counter, so they nerfed rocket planes. Then secondaries don't give the full 60% pre rework boost at once. Its a 45 second ramp up mechanic, which while it works against ships, doesn't work against a sub who dive at free will. Then some of the BBs don't get ASW airstrike for some reason. So subs are getting special WG protection. Not CV levels of protection, but protection nonetheless. Subs have their own issues, but WG isn't doing anything to directly butcher the subs from the start. Hell they are doing their best to squeeze the class into the game. So I didn't really understand the problem you are trying to present, but its clearly full of Whining and despair that's for sure Good day mate -

Proposed cruiser skill tree change
totally_potato replied to totally_potato's topic in General Discussion
I agree with the memebuild I took would like to have secondary skills for cruisers Good suggestion. I will probably swap AR and AP skill. I don't want to introduce a fire duration boost. This is becoz Super cruisers will simply replace cruisers becoz they have the armor, mobility and gunpower, and if WG want, the utility as well. So I want super cruisers to have a sufficient weakness, which is fire duration. I want only 3 fires on them, but its fine to keep the 60 second fire duration in this case as a balancing factor. It would not just super cruisers good against cruisers, but cruisers can also counter this somewhat. In my mind, this dynamic should exist between Super cruisers and standard cruisers. So sorry, but I think the fire duration time should exist as a weakness for supercruisers. -

totally_potato replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
if WG said that Zao has quite good maneuverability and concealment, so they want to keep the HP low in fear of making the ship OP, half of the player base and community would buy into it, and I can confidently say that. But no, they said Zao has "good" armor, and high number of battles. Like WG srsly. Even if you have to give an excuse, give a good one -

apart from their usual game engine issues which work as intended I think they now have "We can never be wrong" issue along with a "idk, just throw in a random answer, maybe ppl might buy into it" issue when it comes to feedback. Its like when naughty children are asked about their studies by their favorite teacher. -

Consumables Line 2. Situation awareness and survivability Line 3. Defense (in general) Hope you like it :) -
Proposed cruiser skill tree change
totally_potato replied to totally_potato's topic in General Discussion
Its for ships which already have good concealment, and it gets reduced to decent concealment in exchange for DPM. It also is a good skill for lighthouse builds. For Ultra CLs, they don't suffer the penalty, so its a straight up DPM buff. Also WG made this skill, not me, I just took the base skills, and applied a few changes to them and added a few new ones. Glad you liked it :) ikr Right, thnx for the suggestion. -

Alright, lot to write now. Here's my thoughts. The American BBs are fairly versatile BBs. However its a rough grind. T3-T6 are the "standard" dreadnought Battleships of the Americans of the 1900s to the late 1910s. With South Carolina to New Mexico. They focused more on range than speed irl. In WoWs this is the defining trend of American BBs. They carry quite heavy fire power, and have good protection but weak plating and are slow. They do posses a fair amount of range and all of them have access to the American mods, that give the range (and at T9+ both range and accuracy). In 1920 Colorado is a revolutionary ship after the preceding BBs. While she maintains the slow speed and weaker plating, she gets a big upgrade in gun performance going from the standard 14 inch cannons to massive 16 inch barrels that do go far and deal good damage. After Colorado, you have two choices. You can go down the dreadnought line where you retain the same features as the preceding ships of the line, massive firepower, good vital protection but weak plating and low speed, and decent AA. In the end, the Vermont is where you end up, which has a massive broadside. Gameplay wise, they are primarily snipers. On to the other line, you can go down the real life scenario of the changing battleship philosophy and go down the "Fast" battleship line. From here, you get to T8, The North Carolina class, T9 The Iowa class, and T10 The Montana class. Compared to their American slow counterparts, they focus on the Fast Battleship concept where you have a ship in which you have all the three things that you want on a BB (Speed, firepower, defense, and range too). They have low concealment, good gunpower, and have reliable protection and mobility. NC is the first fast BBs of the Americans irl, commissioned in the 1940s. In game, she is an all round good Battleship, and teaches you the core value of a BB. Iowa upgrades that even more. She is the fastest of the BBs irl, and in game she is in general a fast ship in-game too. Her gunpower is alright, going a step up from NC in gun performance. Montana is where the line ends at T10, and she has a very good broadside, and has some good protection and decent concealment values, however she sacrifices a bit of speed from Iowa in the process. Irl she was laid down but never completed due to more aircraft carrier demands The Japanese BBs are gun focused battleships in game. They have great gunpower, and overall decent characteristics but tend to be bit on the squishy side of Battleships and have terrible AA (well everyone does, but you get the point). Kawachi was your typical dreadnought battleship. Slow, wing turret configuration which was quite standard for ships of that era (Americans though otherwise tho), and reasonable armor. Myogi and Kongo however are quite different. They follow the battlecruiser concept. They upgraded their gun caliber, and they went speedy. They did have reasonable armor protection however for some reason. Fuso features an upgrade in armor and number of guns for reduced speed. For Nagato, she is revolutionary super dreadnought for the Japanese line. The speed has been increased a bit, in cost for some armor, but her gun caliber has been increased. She has bad plating tho. Amagi brings back the speed in full force, while featuring more guns. Her armor isn't particularly good, but she has good protection for close range fights. Izumo retains that speed, and reduces her gun count slightly, and features an odd forward only gun setup. She is fairly tanky, and her gunpower is quite good. Her deck plating is good as well. And finally we are at Yamato. Do I need to really speak on her? TLDR, biggest guns in the game (apart from Shikishima but that's a different story). Yamato guns (18.1 inch) are enough to overmatch BB plating which means you pose a good threat to them. Gameplay wise, they are primarily gun focused ships, so you want to stay at mid range. You can utilize those guns very well, and if required, you can push in. However you don't want to yolo in these ships (or any BB for that regard). The grind is good, as all the ships are decent to good, and they maintain their concept of good gunpower. Their protection at long range (particularly T9-10) are good enough to support their playstyle. French BBs are quite different from their contemporaries. They focus on speed. The T3-5 is your typical dreadnought battleship. However they are slightly faster than their contemporaries. From T6-7 you feature a large number of guns of low caliber with good speed. They can brawl and tank for a bit, but you want to use that to get into good positions, rather than hold a position. T8 Richelieu is a revolutionary design for the French line. Gun caliber increases, and she gets the French speed boost which gets you up to impressive speeds. Alsace sort of returns to the mid tier high gun count concept, but retains its playstyle that the T8 builds up. T10 Republique is where the line ends. She features a unique gun caliber of 17 inch. This allows her to deal with a lot of cruisers. The mid to high tier ships are high speed flankers, which have the necessary guns to flank and close in, and rush out. However, you don't wanna be focused coz you are squishy. They also feature some quite good AA defense. British BBs are not really battleships but enlarged heavy cruisers. They feature good concealment, lower than average gun caliber (apart from T4 and T6), and squishy armor (you must be hearing too much squishy, but don't be worried, the good armored ones are ahead), but good repair parties, good maneuverability, enhanced high explosive shell performance, and short fuse (quick arming) AP. They also have decent AA. T3 Bellerophon is a cousin ship to the legendary and revolutionary battleship, HMS Dreadnought (which started the arms race). She, T4 Orion, and T5 Iron duke, and T6 Queen Elizabeth, maintains the dreadnought armor, however you start to get a taste of the High explosive shell performance. QE is a great ship becoz she was a very good design of her time being considered the first fast battleship as she was faster than the others at her time, and in game she overmatches everything at her tier and T7, with her AP, but she gets good HE too. T7 however shifts the concept significantly. Its no longer the slow dreadnoughts with good protection. Its now the enlarged heavy cruiser concept. Good concealment, decent speed, lower main battery gun caliber, and good HE shells, allows her to take either the boring yet effective long range, inaccurate, but quite effective HE spammer role, or the mid range ambusher role who utilizes both shell types well and plays the concealment game. King George V, Monarch follows this, and has an enhanced repair party consumable to back you up. However from T9, you get the Super repair party (Specialized repair teams) which basically prints you a new ship, and it further strengthens both concepts. I found this ships to be boring in the current meta, so I wouldn't recommend them but your choice. Soviet/Russian Battleships are mid to close range tanky position holders. They are very very tanky with good armor schemes and high HP pools, have inconsistent, but good gun performance with a special dispersion setting where the closer you are, the better the dispersion is, and are quick to respond, however are very sluggish in every form of the work, and squishy when broadside. They also have a special damage control consumable that is limited by charges but reloads quick, however they have reduced number of repair party teams to compensate for their already amazing survivability. This was personally the most comfortable BB line I have played in years, ever since I first grinded the Japanese BB tech tree, back in 2017. The ships are all good for their tier, and maintain that concept (even the battlecruiser Izmail at T6). T3-5 are chonky beasts. They feature a lot of armor (even yamato can't lol pen their bows, its that good), and good gun power. T6 is where the line's base speed increases. Izmail has good protection and a bit unique in the line as she can flank well. Sinop, Vladivostok, and Sovetsky Soyuz at T7-9 continue that holding position playstyle. Kremlin, takes the whole tanking aspect to another level. These ships are quite good at close range, however they are not good brawlers. You want to stay bow in and out-trade and out-last them. Definitely recommended. And finally Italian battleships. They are very interesting ships. They are the first battleships to feature smoke and SAP shells (no fires, but high damage against angled and broadside targets). They have a moderate - big broadside with low caliber guns with low accuracy and high reload times. They have good survivability with good armor, but have low HP pools. TLDR High alpha battleships with decent survivability. The Italians tend to be on the fast side too. Now this ships aren't very popular considering the fact that it was hyped for, and ended up being balanced ships instead broken af ships. I personally like this line a lot, as they have good ships at all tiers with only the T8 being kinda garbage. This line starts at T4 interestingly with Dante Aligheri, and you get a taste of the SAP. For balance reasons, the SAP shells get a damage cap on DDs at 10% just like AP. However, while they do have the punch, they are quite inconsistent. T7 is where you get good AP too with high velocity and good penetration and damage. From here on, the same gun is kept but the number is always increased. They also get access to fuel smoke, which allows for all kinds of plays (however, don't try to use smoke for stealth firing, it won't work, try other creative ways to use the smoke like consumable usage, breathers, crossing a gap, closing in, etc). Now while the T7 and T8 struggle a bit with gun effectiveness, the T9 and T10 gets the compensation, thanks to the number of guns. T10 Cristoforo Columbo for eg gets 16 guns. The guns do tend to have short range, but they were never meant to snipe. They are mid to short range ships, and they can brawl pretty well. They do have access to decent secondaries, which does set a lot of fires, but don't do much raw dmg. They aren't worth building into, like ever, but if you want to try it, no one is stopping you. Their AA, is potentially good, but heavily limited by a low range of just 4.6km, so its a good defensive aura, but you aren't protecting anyone, that's for sure. They do have decent maneuverability and reasonable stealth but nothing to brag about. There is another line coming out, which is a full German alternate Battlecruiser line, so you can try that later, when it comes out. If you like more calm and boring/relaxing (perception can be different), then you can go British. If you like speedy flankers, Italians and French are your pick, if you like close range ships, German, Russian and Italian lines, and if you like all round ships, then American and Japanese ships. P.S Jesus my hand freaking hurts
