Buff secondary brawler option for C. Colombo and Kremlin
totally_potato replied to Rautainen_Biisoni's topic in General Discussion
A brawler/pushing ship doesn't just mean secondaries. It means survivability, guns that hit at that range, enough speed. Secondaries are either just a bonus or a very good source of dmg that does make a difference in compensation for inconsistency (to do good dmg) or armor (to do more dmg than the enemy does to them to survive up close). Italian and soviet ships were never made for secondaries so don't try to force that playstyle. They are at best a meme to derp around with. But if you want seriousness, then think of Italian secondaries as American secondaries. Not much raw dmg but ton of fires. Russians, just don't even bother, that's not how you play them. And there are secondary ships in many ships Japanese 140mm guns have massa accuracy and 127mm guns while not very good, set a ton of fires so they can be good. But what makes Kii and Shikishima special is their 100mm guns that pen a ton of plating. US secondaries set a ton of fires. Sec Montana was a thing back in the day. French secondaries also set fires and pen cruisers at best. The 100mm guns without IFHE don't have the IJN treatment so no luck there. But the 127mm guns can pen DDs and the CL guns can pen cruisers especially with IFHE. You have to remember that not every ship is made for one particular playstyle. If you want to switch then switch, but don't expect anything else than that. -

Schlieffen will be fine in a 1v1 Def not Rupprecht. The armor on that thing is a joke, and its speed isn't amazing Icebreaker is less thick than the default bow and stern plating of BBs DPM wise, if you are fighting BBs and heavily armored cruisers, 105mm guns need IFHE to do anything to them apart from setting fires. Only 150mm guns would pen and you only effectively have 4. So effective DPM isn't that great. However I'd like to see how the secs are with IFHE and without IFHE, becoz the problems I stated are based on American secondary BBs. This don't look like a new golden standard for BBs unfortunately. But hey, no final opinions from the start yet. I am hopeful -

this had to happen and I am glad its happening no cap Those guys are really good ppl and don't deserve the treatment WG gives them Applaud from my side And well, that's also a couple of hundreds of wallets closed, including mine. And well, subs are my final straw. If they are crap, I am leaving this game.

WG I hear you're looking for CC's
totally_potato replied to ReapingKnight's topic in General Discussion
seems like you have something personal against the mentioned ppl or something 1) I dislike only Flamu, not the rest 2) No I criticize WG where the need to be criticized and praise them when they actually do something right. The latter is probably sucked out of me rn thnx to the shitshow WG has created rn 3) I don't have any translation errors, I type fast, so that's the problem 4) Thanks for the compliment 5) I utterly hate CVs, and I was hopeful of subs for a time, but especially after the commander rework, I have lost my faith in WG regarding big things like this without them messing it up 10 fold. And the current iteration is best described as boring @159Hunter you would make a good community WG shill tho. Toxicity wins all as one would put it- 43 replies

Buff secondary brawler option for C. Colombo and Kremlin
totally_potato replied to Rautainen_Biisoni's topic in General Discussion
yes and no The HP is too low, and while she does have all of the goodies you want on secs, the 150mm guns gun angles are crap coz casemate. You practically have to be full broadside to use a 4 150mm guns. The 105mm guns pen 26, so you need IFHE to pen 32. And the BBs from Mackensen upward have no turtleback and the T7-9 atm have pretty bad armor schemes. So while the secondaries look good, the ships themselves aren't brawlers. Even Schlieffen which actually some pretty good armor isn't a brawler, coz high freeboard, no turtleback, and low HP. You have to think of these new BCs as mid range flankers like the french. -

totally_potato replied to Rautainen_Biisoni's topic in General Discussion
well Columbo secs are a bit like american secs They set a ton of fires and don't pen that much. I think Columbo secs are fine since they get rid of the 1 downside that columbo has aka no fire chance on the main guns coz SAP As for Kremlin, her secs aren't good at all. They never were even without the HP nerf Her guns and armor as well as fast dcp is what makes her good up close -

IChase didn't quit he was removed from the CC program years ago like Flamu was recently well the Graf Zeppelin fiesta is one of big fiestas of WG back in the day and IChase was pretty upset Jingles idk, he probably left the CC program at some point Flambass is still a CC Well we still have some good CCs left I suppose like Carbine, etc. They will probably follow at some point -

so a scale of 1-10 of predictability I rate this as 8. I knew at some point mouse would leave but didn't know this soon Glad she did tho. Better to live a beautiful life than in this bs CC program. Feel happy for all those who left. WG really needs a lot of self redemption and fixing their game, to win the community back. -
nicely done sir I wonder what the heavy DDs are for Is it like Elbing where you hunt cruisers, or like Khaba where you hunt DDs, or a bit of both

Changed commander skills: anything of note?
totally_potato replied to Camperdown's topic in General Discussion
so Pyro is now better to take for subs in case you are an HE BB or a sec BB Vigilance is literally the best 2 pointer imho rn becoz A. Subs, B. It now combines the previous Vigilance and Anti torp protection skills (+7% instead of +10% tho and its additive so 30% + 7% = 37%). The ASW additions to the AA skills make the skill somewhat versatile The Improved Repair party readiness for 3 points is pretty good especially on lower HP BBs. The secondaries are back baby Furious is garbage Also Brisk is a 2 pointer, so on the low conceal fast BBs (Battlecruisers and some Battleships) its pretty amazing. These are the changes mostly, now you decide what you like For detailed stuff https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/175 https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/187 (lower half) -
How did the "Commander Skill Rework" in WoWs v0.10.0 in January 2021 affected your play (and with regards to tomorrow's WoWs v0.10.7 and another skill change)?
totally_potato replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
its junk for the points it costs. And 15% reload isn't guaranteed. Its basically rng based. If it was a flat 5-10% boost, it would be good true Now different configurations are possible And for me SECONDARIES ARE BACK BABY True but I detest the penalty. In theory it makes sense, but the penalty is too much. 10-15% penalty is enough for the value it provides. -
Commanders! A bug has appeared in update 0.10.7, which leads to incorrect operation of the game camera when installing permanent camouflage “Iron Cross” on the German aircraft carrier of the VIII level A. Parseval. In this regard, this camouflage will be temporarily written off from the owners of this ship. Owners will be awarded a permanent camouflage " Type 18”, which will allow them to have the same economic and combat bonuses when playing on A. Parseval until the bug is eliminated. After fixing the bug, the “ Iron Cross " camouflage will be returned to the accounts. If there was no “Type 18 " camouflage on your account, then after the bug is fixed, it will be removed. Also, within a week after the release of update 0.10.7, all players affected by this bug will receive one “Wargaming” container. We apologize to you and thank you for your understanding. Msg from WG

Well 3 main highlights of this update. The rest I don't much care about tbf 1. Subs - Meh. I got the T10 sub on first crate, and I played the american one and its boring af. German had a bit more depth than a long range torp spammer, and while I didn't have fun with it, I was comfortable in her. Subs in general are just boring, and the ASW choices are weird. The ones who will face subs more don't get anything, and the ones that won't get it. Ig putting them in Co-op to practice is the only good thing. Not looking forward to ranked tho 2. Commander skills - This is the biggest part for me so I'll go into detail. Pretty good actually. 3 classes got changed Battleships :- Secondaries feel way better now. The accuracy is somewhat back provided you get into a good position to utilise the secondaries a lot, and you gained range and ability to fire on both sides now. Secondary builds are also pretty cheap. You can fit it comfortably into a 14 point captain with the most basic tank skill, which is FP. So in the long run, secondaries a much different from before but I can't say they are nerfed to the ground in the long run. Vigilance is now such an amazing skill. Like guaranteed 2 point into Vigilance provided i don't really need turret traverse. And its a tank skill now so that's effectively 2 tank skills in a sec build, plus normal build if you have the points. Brisk is also quite viable on my stealthy fast BBs, and there is a fair few of those, plus a full line of those coming. The 3 pointer Improved Repair Party Readiness skill is pretty good on many of the mid tier and low HP higher tier BBs. Its especially good on Gneisenau (its HP is fair for its tier, but its kinda perfect coz high enough to sustain, and low enough for this skill to work more), Odin (well armored and low HP), and the low HP BB lines like Italians which have good armor, and British which have good repair parties that you want to save for the right time so fast cd is really good. Furious is trash. The concept on paper is kinda good. When pushing in you will be one fire a fair bit. But you might not be too. So RNG skill. Why can't you just introduce a flat gunpower boost, with either an actually good condition, or just give it flat. Something like an accuracy boost. Not a big one. Something like +7% accuracy boost, and if needed then a 5% turret traverse nerf. The ASW part have been fairly well added and made the AA skills more Non-surface combatant focused counter skills which is good to have, and I might consider on some of my BB builds when I will play ranked. Suggestions: Maybe exchange PT and the consumable specialist slots. PT is too costly to use, so it would be nice to have her back to 1 point for BBs. In Consumable Specialist skill give a flat -10% reload time to all consumables that aren't repair party or damage control party. Make Preventative Maintenance also work for secondary gun and AA gun survival too. You make full working builds based on these armaments so it sucks to have most of them knocked out and make that investment of points a total waste. Then it could be a good skill to take on some BBs tbh. It would be nice if the Super Heavy AP skill also buffed penetration on the shells. If not that, atleast a further reduction of the fire and flooding to +10% from +25%, coz the current 25% is a bit too much. The Furious skill is an ok concept but very bad execution. Introduce some other attack skill or rework Furious. BB skills are fine but they have their flaws. Cruisers - ASW and all that. Its good Since the buff applies to all airstrikes, the Dutch cruisers get a slight buff. Outnumbered is much better now. It applies well for kiting cruisers or if you retreating. And it practically always works in a 1v1. So good skill, however idk whether its worth 4 points. Suggestions: Add Fire Prevention and Secondary accuracy boost skills to the skill tree. Super cruisers lost a ton of sustain. Now let the fire duration be 60, but atleast the ability to reduce the number of fires should exist for super cruisers. And secondary skill, well its a good skill for a select few cruisers atm, but this concept can flourish with further additions to this playstyle. Preferably add the CV secondary 4 pointer to cruisers for 3 points. To do this maybe reduce the torps skill points. Combine the speed and reload buff on torps and make it 1 point while making torp damage boost skill a 2 pointer. Remember, most cruisers captains don't take torps becoz its not their primary armament. So reducing the points makes it a. More appealing should spare points remain, b. It allows for other actual needed and missing skills to be added back. Fix the Extra Heavy AP skill, and make the gun caliber requirement to 180mm+. Becoz many cruisers of this caliber get some good AP. Make the Consumable boosters apply for all consumables, both Consumable Enhancements and Consumable Specialist skills Destroyers didn't change much. The ASW got added to the AP skill which was weird af. Like why not the the 3 point BFT and make it a general all rounder skill. Anyway, DDs didn't lose anything and that's enough. 3. D7P Dockyard The ship itself looks decent, and well 3950 dubs is not a bad price for a T8 prem. The dockyard itself in terms of missions looks alright. The last directive is a bit hard to but 2 months of time, so maybe I could complete it, so I expect unicums and super unicums to do it. Average players like me can get it but it depends on the matches and our mental stability at this point, and also whether we can dedicate that time, coz many of us have real life jobs so yeah. All and all, good update. :)

Zao is great on his category and ONLY
totally_potato replied to MikhailTheMighty's topic in General Discussion
Zao as a torp ship? Hmm could be something I try this update but idk But Zao has always been a stealthy assassin gun platform in my eyes. -
is it possible to learn this great power I want to make my Bismarck unsinkable y'know
-
looks like a balanced ship Mini cruiser actually good at hunting DDs and farming targets. AA is good, nice set of consumables, good survivability, great guns, but no torps, big in size, clumsy, lousy arcs Its a good ship

Interesting observation from NA Forum regarding ASW weapons and "Premium" / "Special" ships...
totally_potato replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
funny how the BBs that have to push in to do well and will face subs more (German, Italian and Russian, premium american brawlers) don't get depth charges in any form, and the ones that don't need to push in as much (Americans, Japanese, French and British) and will face subs way less get the ASW armaments. Sounds a little fishy, don't you think? -
Subs: I had low expectations but damn

Credit where credit is due - IMHO "Bralws" were great addition and should be made permanent feature of WoWs !

imagine appreciating someone who does something right -
well homing torps are better vs DDs than vs BBs apparently so idk
