Which is the most fun? Pommern/Marceau/Napoli
totally_potato replied to DaBung's topic in General Discussion
Marco Polo has the biggest guns among Italian BBs which is 16 inch Marco range is the lowest among its counterparts at T9 but its better than Roma which also has the worst range among its counterparts. And its a Tier higher so it faces T10 meta a lot more. So that's why Marco range feels weak -
French cruisers are speedy damage farmers primarily There are 2 eras of cruisers as of Update 10.7 Light cruisers (T1 -- T6) and Heavy cruisers (T7 -- T10), both of which are fast but less armored and they have relatively few, mid range and decent speedy torps. The Emile Bertin gets the first 3x3 gun setup and also gets hydro and 9km torps, which remains throughout the line. The La Gallisonere is a good CL with decent RoF and is the first French cruiser in the line with French speed boost and MBRB. The heavy cruisers start from Algerie at T7 which gets the same consumables as the tier before but it gets the option of DFAA or hydro and also gets Fighter in a separate slot. Charles Martel - Henri IV get the very good French 203mm and at T10 240mm guns. The T9 is an odd duck in consumables, as it gets speed boost, fighter and spotter (only cruiser in line to get it) in one slot. As for their concept, they are high speed, heavy hitting damage farmers which have high burst potential, which allows them to fulfill a few roles. They are quite good damage farmers, flankers, attention grabbers, destroyer hunters and cruiser killers. However their conceal isn't good, especially on T10. They do lack utility outside hydro. And their armor is trash. So positioning and maneuvering, knowing when to utilize that burst DPM is key to playing these ships. So damage farm at the start, and then do other roles at the end where you can utilize the speed and your remaining HP, and a spare or two reload boosters to quickly finish off targets French ships tend to have good penetration for their calibers on AP. So utilize AP whenever you get the chance, otherwise stick to HE. Its like firing Japanese HE and Russian AP tbh and with MBRB it feels really nice.

Some ideas for WG to make the game even better

Which is the most fun? Pommern/Marceau/Napoli
totally_potato replied to DaBung's topic in General Discussion
Its not garbage, but its very mediocre. Pommie is a way better pick. So much for a T9 Roma. If they really want to play that kind of playstyle, they need to give it very good conceal, and higher HP (atleast middle of the pack type of deal) -

look He is mostly very critical when it comes to recent reviews I would suggest you look at these reviews as him pointing out the cons of ships. Look at the other reviews too, not just his. And when you finally play the ship, remember its strengths while keeping Flamu's critical points on the ships in mind. Utilizing the strengths and keeping the weaknesses in mind will lead to great results and enjoyable battles in game. And when you hear that OP bs, don't believe it until you have actually played the ship, and have atleast a few battles to back up that opinion. Reviews are to be taken as critical points to be kept in mind, they are not just advertisements of a certain product, unless that's the way the review is setup. So take his views seriously. But keep it in the back burner and try it out yourself (unless it costs irl money and no other in-game resource, for which the alternative would be, watch as many replays and reviews as you possibly can afford to dedicate time to, to decide whether its worth your money or not) -
ayo Elbing too Z-52 is also a good ship Lower German BBs are decent
-
well I played this ship before the rework So I can tell you it was even better. Tankier coz FP, BoS etc or alternatively sec skills
-
well there is a chance that Bourg will pen the deck from long range Or just switch to HE However, target selection is necessary for low caliber BBs
-
Who invited you tho?
-
Yes that's true But she does have good HE in return, so she can switch to HE and burn the cruiser herself, and combined with a decent reload speed and MBRB, she can fight cruisers pretty effectively. And she doesn't overmatch CAs, she does overmatch CLs and some CAs like the Russians for eg. However that does increase the skill floor of the ship, so like I said earlier, its a difficult ship to master, but fun to play once you do master it.

Which Tier 8 Premium Should i Get?
totally_potato replied to _HomTanks_'s topic in General Discussion
I'd say none coz WG doesn't deserve a penny But if you really want something to buy then go for Tone. Its the most unique of the bunch and actually feels more like a deserving premium. She was my last purchase, after which I didn't bother buying any other ship. She's basically the swiss knife of ships. Really accurate and hard hitting guns but a long reload, IJN torps, amazing concealment, decent AA, decent armor and HP, really good speed, standard cruiser hydro/DFAA and Repair party, and last but not least, a full squad of torp bombers which is a really useful tool to have for spotting ships, and limiting his maneuverability at the least, if not directly putting the hurt on them. She is quite a nice cruiser to play. Constellation is also a good ship with a unique concept, but you don't seem to like it so Imma not say much. Its a Colorado that grew a bunch of legs, learnt to fart a few fish but forgot to go the the gym for body building (crap armor). So its not for everyone. But its a decent premium ship for history geeks and BC admirers. The rest I don't recommend much although, if you don't own an alaska, then go for Congress as she is basically a T8 Alaska but with reduced trading power.- 52 replies

Stalingrad has been kind of powercrept but yes. Its a good ship Plymouth is also a powerful multitasker Ragnar is also good Bourgogne is also good tho, but its a difficult ship so its alright to not like it The thing is all of them are fun, not just the things that seem to stand out Austin is quite fun and quite rewarding to play too.

Some ideas for WG to make the game even better
totally_potato replied to Grumpy_Shark's topic in General Discussion
at this point Add soviet missile cruisers with Stalin as a special commander with the new talent INVINCIBLE Makes your ship 100% immune to all damage upon inflicting 50,000 damage -
Imma put the same words that I said for a similar thread We have Plymouth, Austin, Stalingrad, Bourgogne, Shikishima, FDR and Ragnar Plymouth is a high alpha, High utility ship. She has 16 guns, and they throw out a lot of crap, and 7.5 sec reload for 16 guns is pretty good. She has very good utility. She lacks HE tho. She also have some belt armor to bounce even Bb shells. She is basically an Edinburgh on steroids. Key to play this ship is in a support role for the team. She has good conceal and even torps for good measure. Very good ship and I don't get the she the hate she got Austin is a unique American CL with insane burst dmg potential. She has HE and SAP. So she can dmg a lot of ships. She has one set of Fletcher torps per side. Unlike other cruisers, let alone Ultra CLs, she has 32mm plating. So she effectively counters 18 inch guns with angling. Only 18.1 inch guns and higher counter that and well, you don't have many of those, do you? She has fair AA defenses. She is one of the only American high tier cruisers without having radar, the other being Anchorage. In turn however she gets a RB. A very good RB that is. 75% cut from reload, and unlimited charges. This ship is pretty much nothing without that RB. She is quick and stealthy too. But its all about the burst she can apply. She is amazing with the team, as you can ambush the enemy so well. I high risk, high reward ship as one would say. Stalingrad is a soviet super cruiser. She has good armor and HP, amazing guns, and good utility, at the cost of maneuverability and conceal. She can tank dmg fairly easily when angled, and deal dmg very well. She has the best cruiser AP in the game, with the best sigma at 2.65. She isn't as OP as it once was, but she is quite nasty to face. HE is kinda meh tbh, but you still blap DDs pretty hard. Her guns have a long reload for a cruiser tho. She is pretty much a BB at this point. She turns like a high speed train tho (which she is coz she is also has a good base speed) and the rudder shift is pretty meh. Her detection is pretty meh. This tells you that you have to play this ship mid to long range, as you don't have torps, you have a high freeboard, and weak broadside. You have Radar, to help your team with DDs. Overall a good ship. Bourgogne is a unique BB. She is fast, fairly well concealed, and is kinda meh in armor. She has the lowest HP pool for a BB at T10, and has 32mm all around, which makes her an HE favourite for German DDs, IFHE Japanese DDs and CLs, all CAs, and BBs, and also overmatchable at all angles from Yamato and other 18.1 inch gun and higher caliber gun armed Bbs. What she does have tho, is insane speed, twelve 15 inch guns with good HE and AP, good reload and sigma, and she also gets the reload booster. She is another flanker like the main line French, but does it better coz the reload is good, speed is amazing, it has RB, and she has good detection. She can easily rush down a lone ship and kill it. She is quite fun while being competitive at the same time. Also good AA. Shikishima is a Yamato with bigger and better guns at the cost of AP pen and number of guns, better secs, better AA, and better Rudder. She was quite fun to meme around with a sec build before the rework. Now she is just a Yamato with different guns. Performance wise, both are very similar, so its better not spend steel on Shiki, unless you want that gun sound so bad FDR is a good CV. She has a lot of planes with stupidly high HP pools. In compensation, he planes are very slow, and they take a while to restore. She throws out a lot of bombs/torpedoes/rockets per attack flight. She is extremely hard to deal with in a CA, and impossible to deal with in a BB. DDs are sorta fine becoz of the rocket rework. Ragnar is an oversized Smaland. She is one of the few non-German DDs to get Light cruiser artillery. Four 152mm guns with a very good firing rate, and amazing accuracy (German new DD line dispersion) and with the same HE as typically found on CLs and HSF Harekaze II AP pen on AP. She gets no torps tho which makes her an ez DD to push, as she has no stopping or area denial tools. She has pretty good AA but no DFAA to boost it. She carries a reduced number of charges of an otherwise pretty good consumable set, similar to smaland. She has emergency engine power (basically a speed boost that gives a ton of speed increase compared to normal and French speed boosts, but lasts for a short time, so its a speed burst than a long running bonus), Swedish repair party, and european 7.5km radar which lasts much longer than normal european radar. She also has a ton of HP, close to Elbing, along with Elbing like armor plating of 25mm at the sides and deck. So that combined with heal and powerful AA make her very hard to kill. She has Russian DD like concealment and bad maneuverability tho. She is quite an efficient cap defender, amazing gunboat, and decent damage power, but you have no area denial tool or stopping power, or any big alpha strike potential vs large targets, and DDs do have some tools to counter you such as efficient AP usage, rushing you down with torps, etc. Its not as broken as Smaland, but its a strong gunboat mini-cruiser There is no best here, it depends on what your playstyle is, or what preference you have. If you want an all round good cruiser, Plymouth, if you want a high burst damage ship there is Austin and Bourgogne, if you want a good supercruiser, there is Stalingrad, if you like CVs, there is FDR, and if you like gunboat DDs then Ragnar exists. There are some unique playstyles in this list. So get what you like. Hopefully this helps you

I love both Roma is basically where the OG Russian BB concept came from in my eyes. A tanky, well concealed shotgun. Best performing 15 inch guns in the game but very bad accuracy Very good armor scheme but exposed side and its aft end has a bit of a shell catcher. Good torp protection too I might add Amazing conceal, which rivals the british ffs Decent defensive AA, but very limited in potential coz the range sucks, so as I said, defensive Decent maneuverability and feels comfortable for me personally Its a nice ship, however the accuracy and high number of overpens with its high velocity does make it a little rough to play vs CLs that don't angle. Kii is a nice alternative to Amagi. Ten nasty 410mm guns with average accuracy. Its very hit and miss Some really nice secondaries as well as good AA, which is unusual for Japanese ships. Decent armor with Turtleback, and all but it is vulnerable to CA+ HE shells, and good HP at 68.2K. Unusual 10km IJN torps, 2x3 torps, 1 per side that have decent speed and conceal, and hit fairly hard and reload fast Decent maneuverability If you ask which ship is better overall, then Roma is the answer, mostly down to its cruiser like concealment and good armor. Roma can reposition quite well and punish ships. However, I personally love Kii more. Its literally a Japanese Tirpitz. In fact, over time, I actually have come to enjoy Kii more than Tirpitz, especially after this commander rework and recent skill change, as it pushed Kii secs to the next lvl, and made her the true KMIJN ship in my eyes. I find the old glory of Tirpitz in Kii, in today's meta. It has risen to the top most liked ships in my list in terms of fun. Its my personal recommendation to ranked nowadays and put as my favourite T8 BB even over ships like Bismarck, Roma, etc. However I won't force you to take anything Take what you like If you want a tanky shotgun with amazing conceal, Roma If you want an IJN Tirpitz, then go for Kii. Both are amazing credit farmers with Kobayashi camo btw

Just a random american BB split hamburger thought :) [Both Question and Suggestion included)
totally_potato posted a topic in General Discussion
So we have Hamburger 2.0 coming up Its a brawling Vermont of sorts but its literally better than Vermont in many categories, but 1 particular area which is what this thread is about Concealment Connecticut has the new T10 German BC concealment at 12.6km full stealth build. So here are my words after this:- We all know that Kansas - Vermont are very slow. And they are mostly squishy. Vermont can be occasionally tanky but not for long When you misposition you are effectively dead as you can't get out, and dodging torps is quite hard at times. So I had a question and suggestion:- A. Are you ok as they are and would suggest any other buff to these BBs or just keep them as they are OR B. Would you want they to have better concealment than their BB counter parts as a compensation for poor speed, so that they have some form of disengaging. P.S Don't criticize me for the build, its a place holder I'd like to know everyone's thoughts on this -

hmm I think so Also you missed a ship, so added it -
I just said whatever I did to you in terms of random battles In short, its quite nice to play. Murders DDs, it farms cruisers and Bbs pretty well, but it can be pushed out quite easily as without its special speed boost its slow and sluggish. It does have Elbing like 25mm plating and swedish heal, along with a gigantic amount of HP, so its hard to kill. I am no expert at balance, but imho, I feel like its quite a strong ship but its not OP at all. It has radar too, and with full stealth build, you can literally click the radar button and spot whatever is spotting it.

absolutely worth the steel Basically an oversized Smaland but its kind of not busted coz no torps As a gunboat lover and a Smaland owner, I like it a lot

in a 1v1? Its tough to say Marceau is insanely fast for Ragnar to hit in the hands of an average player, and dodging is a thing as well as speed juking. But Marceau at long range is crap at hitting stuff like DDs, and any competent Ragnar player will try to stay at range like Elbing in order to utilize that insane accuracy. Its a stalemate at long range tbh if its a battle to the death At close range tho, I think Marceau wins, for that insane DPM. If its your average joe player, then probably ragnar has a better chance of winning, if its a good player who has the recent knowledge on ships in the game, then I think Marceau beats Ragnar as 25mm plating is enough to arm AP, and its distributed in a way, that if he tries to angle, HE will also murder him as unlike Elbing, ragnar's 25mm plating is not as efficient and the chance of hitting the exposed areas is larger. Also Marceau has french saturation gimmick. All this comes down to skill and knowledge Now in terms of effectiveness Marceau is a better ship for comp modes. The simple reason is that speed and torp power, none of which the Ragnar has (its speed boost is only good enough for getting in/getting out and not both, and also maintaining distance for a very short time to drop conceal, its not consistent like Marceau speed boost is). Ragnar has some really good guns, with enhanced survivability in HP and trolly placement of rather underrate but effective armor + 3 heals. But having no torps makes things a bit rough for ragnar as it can't deny an area, let alone kill anything bigger than a DD outright. Marceau doesn't get that problem. It can easily go in, drop torps with a 2km window and get out, as well as farm and gun down DDs. It also has a bit of AP power at closer ranges that in yolos, if it does have to fight a cruiser, it can. So Marceau is a better ship for comp while Ragnar is better for randoms. You really don't want a Ragnar is your team unless you have atleast 2 other DDs with decent torps. Ragnar also has terrible conceal.
