Not if you retreat and they move up to where your backline was meaning you draw the sub into a pincer. Cant bother with the rest.

Yeah I know I experienced this in a game of my own recently. Just the sub knowing the range of my airdrops and constantly being outside of its range. Nobody is close so eventually I got torped down. But again, thats a failure on my part and my team for not collaborating well enough, not intercepting that sub or something like that.

You're supposed to retreat while faster cruisers and destroyers move up. But either because you're soloing at extreme range or because your team mates are arseholes that might not happen. So while the game offers solutions, the community doesn't really apply them. And that is partly a design problem in how it (dis)encourages teamplay but also partly a membership problem. Also obviously, the submarines (except for the above mentioned british ones) are flawed because dedicated ASW units are often slower than them which is just fucked. So you have a justification to be frustrated but not because you personally cant counter them.

Ah , I had no idea that you could/can get vouchers for recruits. Anyway thanks for your insight! Hope they deal with it.

    Chatbans and you.

Europizza, you little shite, you gotta tell me the three words. Let bygones be bygones and I promise to never target you with my CV if I see you in game ever again, deal? :D I imagine the F word is one, I don't use any really racist words, maybe the R word? I cant imagine its crap, thats like not even a swear word. You obviously unignored me to read this post, just admit it haha. (Though Im still probably gonna use them, cause being passive aggressive and masking your language is to me worse than using a more direct expression but thats a whole other sociological can of worms). edut: Appreciate you including the words in the edit ;). Cant believe its Sh1t. Thats probably what gets me the majority of flagging, I use that word in a completely inoffensive way, often saying "Sh1t I messed up". Bleeeh they really should think about this and how it alienates the playerbase.

Ah I see. How good are the bots? I Know they got a bit better since the last time I played one of the new operations they offered some decent resistance and some people even complained about it on the forums that they couldnt beat it or what ever. But what Im saying is, beyond the fact that cheating scumbags should be banned, does it really matter at all for coop? I mean again, I reiterate that they should be banned, and like you said yourself you cant even be bothered with reporting them directly to support. But isn't the fact that they suck just going to leave you with more kills to farm on the mode? Isn't this a good thing? At least for you? Btw these clans, why do they farm co-op so much? Do they sell accounts a lot (do their numbers/names change a lot?) or do they just need the extra money for flags/ ships you think?

    Chatbans and you.

That's a given. But you just have to accept that some people don't understand the game very well. Often times I've noticed that even trying to correct someone like that could be worse. Like I get this feeling that when someone is about to make a mistake, telling them to stop and turn around even in a polite way is just going to make them commit to it even more. Cause they are not about to be lectured by some random nobody online. Many people probably get enough of that from their boss, wife, parent or what ever and so have this as an ego outlet too. I get into my most heated exchanges with people, where I directly insult folks in situations like this. But it's not the yoloing newb that I end up insulting. I accept that they are yoloing, at least they can tank some damage or something. Heck I just DGAF sometimes too and go in for the memes. I might call them a e:ffing idiot and that might be enough for a chatban down the road, but thats about it. I'm more infuriated with say the star saving semi-pro that will immediately decide "the game is lost", run into the most campy position possible, further destroying the teams chance of any sort of victory or even enjoyable game. Completely ignoring any opportunity that the newbs yoloing gives the team to farm at least some damage. I hate these people the most. Because they know what they are doing and do so consciously. Though I have to say, that this scenario is far from the only one and I have had some games where everyone are communicating, using what ever language they are, and people do listen, dont take it personally and win the game. When there is good crap-talking in a game and you still end up winning are usually the games I end up bonding with people later on. Though I still don't play a lot in divisions because I don't like the limit that puts on my, eh let's say, creative freedom. Plus I take super long breaks from the game so I forget who is who.

How could they figure out you're reporting them? I wonder if they analyze games to like do a process of elimination or what ever. What a bunch of cumbuckets either way. Best thing you can do in these kinds of situations is to send the replay directly to support by opening a ticket. Send a collection of them and they will act probably.

    Blocking illegal accounts in China

For being a bunch of communists, chinese people are extremely driven, self-centered and as gamers ultra competitive seeking and justifying what ever advantage they can get. Supposedly, according to chinese people I've talked to, this is because the country is so large and people so many that to stand out one has to do extremely well coupled with the typical "asian parent" attitude. So yes, cheating in China is worse than in any other gaming community. Something like 90% of bans for some games are for chinese accounts, and Im then not even talking about gold farming, etc. But that still leaves 10%+. So you can very well imagine that quite a few people cheat, consider how many even legal mods there are out there that giving players an unfair advantage. Including but not limited to the compass mod that essentially gives a partial wallhack for ships spotted but still hidden behind mountains.

    General Submarines related discussions

You're not supposed to counter it so much as be within a combined fleet action or keep tabs on the subs movement together with your carrier or your ships with hydro or by simply looking out for pings, which you admittedly cant always do. The best you can hope for is that you're not always the target and that if and when you are the target that you're close enough to your allies that they can then destroy the sub. Of course the problem with this is that like 20% of players are constantly muted in the game including myself, 20% don't listen to anything that is said ever, 20% don't communicate and /or have chat turned off and the rest are still not always going to tryhard every random game. I like playing ranked for this reason because there are fewer players and at least a little bit of team-effort even early on. But subs are truly made for big battles and the lack of communication is hurting the sub hunting effort. The argument is the same though, as for the people crying about carriers or even as for when you sometimes get hit by Shima torps or what ever. And the real answer is ultimately far more simple: Stop having a big Ego and accept that if you're being targeted and can't target what ever is targeting you, target something else. You don't have to have "revenge" or "counter" who ever is killing you. Even though the game could be better and the playerbase could be more communicative the ultimate issue you have is your ego.

These submarines are exactly what they are supposed to be here though, slow, weak, rapidly reloading torpedo tubes. What a wonderful addition. The homing nature of things is a problem. But it is what it is. How do you best dodge when you're pinged in a fast ship? Is it better to be pinged in the rear or the front if the sub is behind you? I imagine the rear as you can swing your [a..ft]more, right? Someone should make a tutorial on this if they can be bothered.

some skills dont belong in this game

Nobody complained about the skill ceiling, are you illiterate? The point was the OP doesn't need to "git gud" when literally bitching about a skill that aids him in situational awarness. The rest of your post is inane apples and oranges comparisons.

some skills dont belong in this game

I like some of these ideas, especially the sweeping long range radar that gives DDs a chance to dodge inbetween sweeps. But none of this will ever happen and we yo uand me and everyone else here are idiots wasting their time mostly talking moot things.
  18. TheNubination

some skills dont belong in this game

Radar/Hydro are literal wallhacks, but RPF is somehow worse because in a mutual fight of two people with RPF, the element of surprise is often nearly completely negated from the start of the game. It has its own quirks like playing chicken then with torps but thats not as fun IMO.
  19. TheNubination

some skills dont belong in this game

[edited]laughable people telling him to "git gud" wen he's literally bitching about a skill that lowers the skill ceiling. I'd remove all those "hax" skills. Remove the Sub location thing, remove the skill OP is talking about, remove RPF. All is nonsense. Heck even as a CV main I'd trade all my CVs for the removal of Radar or at last Radar and Hydros ability to penetrate island cover.

So is that that u so much wanted WG???

Absolutely agree, though I feel subs have been so nerfed that beyond being annoying they generally, unless someone is really profecient with them, dont perform that well. Buff them a bit but give dedicated ASW units real ASW capabilities. Also while buffing subs in some way (damage, gimmicks) their speed should be lowered. One has to be able to chase them down, its as simple as that.

So is that that u so much wanted WG???

Apparently the playerbase wants this. In b4 "But everyone plays subs cause they want to be equally toxic as someone is to them" nonsense. Not everyone is a sociopath like Elazer who plays CVs while bitching about CVs for that reason. On lower tiers subs are a huge success, often being the most popular category now, even more so than BBs. I guess the spreadsheets dont lie.

Why are so many ships restricted in the next CB?

Yeah we haven't seen CVs in a while. My mountain of salt needs more salt, darnit!

Let us PM people while in game.

Just let us... Its not a super uber competitive game. And if you're in a tight spot you can always not reply. Just let us. Its so weird having to pause conversations every 15 min. At least people previously added to contacts. GL HF all.

Let us PM people while in game.

Bruh, common man, why do you have to tell me what to do? Like im literally alt tabbing between the game and a second screen right now writing this. Why do you have to decide that? There's no matchmaking, it doesn't matter. I can be as good or as bad, I can be drunk or sober, I can type or not type, what does it matter what variable changes? I type all the time to people in other games. I hate that argument .
  25. So over the couple of weeks I´ve just become fascinated with WoWs statistics and been looking into various aspects of it and how games in general present statistics, part play part professional as someone who is trying to understand how users are impacted by statistics. I made a thread about the fact that based on a few good hunches and some serious scratches of the numbers available that the average median (but mean would be close with so many players) of players in World of Warships is about 43%. I explain more here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/552990/discussions/0/5350867208717712201/ I´m posting here directly because Im curious if this is something that War Gaming ever could share. A lot of the frustration from the game for some players (from all the discord conversations I´ve seen at least) comes from the fact of seeing a lot of "red" team members when joining a game. But as explained in the Steam thread I think that this is more common than people perhaps think. I remember when I was talking with some old clan mates and people questioned how someone even could have a winrate of below 40% if they weren´t completely clueless or actively trying to destroy the game. That some youtuber had done a video of it even. The more I thought about it the more I think it´s not true. Again, reasons are explained in the thread above. Now this thread is more directed towards the staff and the community on the impact of this rather than the nitty gritty of it that got very little traction anyway. There are some negative impacts: People can feel inadequate and quit because they think that they winrate being so below 50% is terrible and that they will never improve. Leaving the game cuts into profits and numbers. People who have played for a long while and have difficulty improving from the contributing factor of having thousands upon thousands of previous "bad" games may feel similarly. Flaming as a result of stats is a problem and a potentially faulty understanding of the stats contributes to this increasing player discomfort and the workload on WG support. Contribute to players hiding their stats, avoiding competitive play overall and sticking to missions/coop lowering engagement. There are some "positive" impacts: Players who feel that they are under-performing and players who want to join clans with stat requirements may feel more inclined to buy more "OP ships". Maybe for real currency. I contend premium ships on average are stronger but there is, as mentioned by some in the OP also the aspect of them being more specialized. Also the fact that they are paywalled (Dubs,Coal,Steel) contributes to their above average statistics as more experienced players may have bought them for coal or steel in larger numbers. Some competitive players may feel that "there is so much room to improve" and they will continue to struggle to do so, thus increasing their retention rate despite negative impacts. There may be more effects, feel free to contribute them! I personally think that the negatives outweigh the positives and that knowing that your winrate is not as bad at it may seem could strengthen player confidence, reduce toxicity and maybe overall increase profitability. But maybe they don´t think so. Maybe it averages out. Either way, it´s been years. Have we ever gotten any real numbers? Including hidden accounts? Or at least if we cant get that, then for all players overall that aren´t hidden? It would be really cool to know. If we can´t know, what are you speculations? Remember that the only winrates we have access to, to my knowledge are average winrates for ships per number of games. But since ProAlpha is able to calculate how close to the average player you are with a particular winrate of a particular ship and codify it using colors (Red,Yellow,Green,Purple) then perhaps it could also pull the average overall winrate for all players irrespective of the number of games they have played. We would have to contend with smurfs/rerollers and players who quit very early but perhaps by filtering the numbers to "above 100 games played) we can get something that comes close to what a real, usable figure is. I am almost positive and could make a very favourable bet with someone that even not including the hidden players that number would not be higher than 46% and I speculate that the true number is about 43%. I´ll try to email ProAlpha and see if they can share it but again if they could, those numbers would not really be complete without the hidden accounts. edit answer: True Winrate=48% ^^ Thank god I didnt bet anyone haha
