  1. Imagine if you would have premium, first win bonus, camo and signals in addition to my "naked" game...
  2. U69_2020

I like the new Directives System.

And beware the poor PVP player who is forced to stoop that low to play Coop...

I like the new Directives System.

I have no idea about the data of the ships like armor etc., I just shoot and watch. And I have done plenty of cits with the small guns on broadside Soviet cruisers (bring more Mikoyans!), as well as the occasional carrier.

And I wrote "would be easy" in coop. And as it is not available for coop, discussing chances in random is missing the point.

I like the new Directives System.

I think there is some "get 10 cits in a game" mission somewhere. Not for coop, sadly. Would be an easy feat even with the Gaede.

I just want to play/hunt subs, so a T6 DD is kind of mandatory. I'm also only interested in German ships (Odin is neither German nor a ship), so I could use the Spee as a captain trainer in the meantime until subs become permanent. I did. I have between 200-300K XP on my Gaede after having unlocked the Maas, but as sub battles only support T6 ships there is no reason to advance any further. Good advice, but I do not intend to grind, buy and dump several ships just to get another ship that I am interested in (merely serving as an interludum until I get my permanent U-69).

It's probably easy money for a CV, a Minekaze or EU DD who spit out torps in rapid succession without dealing enough damage to run out of targets too soon...

I like the new Directives System.

But I can save myself the effort, because directive 2 wants me to Spot 30 torpedoes (easy) Get 30 Aircraft shot down or Shot down by fighter ribbons (with Gaede? lol) Get 15 Incapacitations ribbons (easy) In 12 battles, join the top 3 in your team by experience received (easy) Earn 180.100 XP (Yikes. No premium here, just base T6 DD) Cause 1.000.000 HP of damage to ships (takes a lot of time, but ok) That's 6. Cause 1.650.000 HP of damage to ships (UK/FR BB, so no) Get 1.650 Secondary battery hits or Main battery hits ribbons (US/GE BB, so no) Receive 22.500.000 HP of potential damage (UK/IT cruiser, so no) Get 120 Set on fire or Torpedo hits ribbons (JP/FR cruiser, so no) I still need one more mission...

I am still at directive one. For coop, there are: In 10 battles, join the top 2 blabla (done) Get 18 Destroyed ribbons (done) Get 12 Spotted ribbons (done) Earn 2.5M credits (underway, takes a crapload of time) Get 12 Captured, Assisted in capture, or Defended ribbons (underway) Receive 24.5M HP of PDMG (battleships only, so no) Get 30 Destroyed or Spotted ribbons (cruisers only, so no) Cause 650K HP of damage blabla (cruisers only, so no) Help your team cause 350K HP of damage upon your spotting (PA/EU destroyers only, so no) Get 1.6K Main battery hits (UK/FR destroyers only, so no) Get 50 Incapacitations ribbons (carriers only, so no) In one battle, cause 50K HP of damage to ships (some premium ships only, so no) That leaves me with the following 2 to get my 7 required missions done: In one battle, get 14 Torpedo hits ribbons In one battle, cause 185K HP of damage to ships Both of them require extremly fortunate circumstances (spawn, team, team compositions, target health pools etc.), but are theoretically doable. But there are plenty of easier missions amongst those that require certain ships types.

I have not played many random games, but the teammates I have had the dubious pleasure to witness were definitely NOT competing with me for damage farming. They were trying to stay as far as possible away from the enemy, behind hard cover, at a range that even a lucky shot might not deal any reasonable damage. I could have had the entire enemy team for myself if I had felt gluttonous.

    New Slava is trash

To be fair, those were pretty experienced fish trawlers. They maneuvered so swiftly, like... let's say torpedo boats. And there were casualties on both sides.

Well, I have ONE permanent ship. The Gaede. End of the story here...
  13. A submarine antisubmarine main. Hunting submarines with submarines is the only thing that is fun about submarine gameplay so far. Torpedo guidance is utterly random - some times it works fine, some times they just refuse to home -, but after all... you can always go for a point blank kill.

How to counter Hakuryu AP bombs?

    Just dive?

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

Fortunately, we do not have WW2 submarines in this game, though they share their names and outer appearances.

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

Actually, if the torpedo hits a trim tank without rupturing the hull behind it, the sub might survive. And of course there are several compartments that could be sealed off in case of a ruptured hull, depending on where the hit occurs, how many internal bulkheads are there, and how quick they can be sealed. Last but not least there are double hull designs (more modern, but WG does not care for anachronism) that enable submarines to take a hit and still carry on if only the outer hull is penetrated.

    Odin... is it slow?

    Health Points or Horse Powers?
  18. That's why I have to give the dockyard a hard pass. No missions for submarines there.

Do not worry, we will just bring balans to the (Air) Force...
  20. Nicht den Hauch einer Chance? Eher anders herum.
  21. The answer to the problem has been prepared by WG for a while, and it lies beneath the surface. Submarines. Pretty sure the Unicorns of Stalin cannot hit you there. First WG needs to sell the poison, then they will sell the antidote.

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

Your cheesy knowledge is correct. See wikipedia: Emblem: U-69 was unusual in that she had two ships' emblems. The first, adopted on commissioning, was chosen by her first commander, Metzler. This consisted of the word Horrido (Tally-Ho) and the three two-flag signal groups for the letters L M A, a reference to Gotz von Berlichingen’s famous scatological retort. The second came about when the 7th flotilla adopted Prien’s bull emblem as its flotilla insignia. U-69's new first officer, who had not seen the insignia before, found a picture of a cow on a French cheese box, and had that painted on the conning tower, complete with the motto on the box "la vache qui rit" (the laughing cow). When Metzler saw it, he decided to keep it, as it raised a laugh with all who saw it, and the crew adopted the slogan as a war-cry; U-69 thereafter became known as the "laughing cow". Trivia: My favourite burger restaurant in my fair city bears the very same name.

I also have a permanent ship - the Gaede, to play sub battles for credits. But pressing G is a lot less fun than assassinating enemy subs from the depth. And the fratricidal bots shooting at me while I am dropping depth charges are detrimental to my joy.

...and the patch (not exactly a laughing cow, but I could not get any closer). Yes, my main ship is indeed a rental U-69. After it goes poof, I will probably hibernate until I can get a permanent one.
