Ah, those works of fiction... No idea which are new in this game - I have been here for 2 weeks and have not taken my time to check what's floating around beyond T6 (which is where sub battles are). But I frequently encounter the Västerås there, which is probably a fictituous Swedish boat.

You are probably playing the wrong game mode. I had a totally normal day in sub battles.

Did not play much because of work, but got 2 pseudo-krakens in sub battles yesterday/today. And I think I have not had more than that many DC hits so far:

I like it very much. I mainly concentrate on destroying subs both with my DD and my SS, and both alternatives are fun. The only thing that makes life miserable for ASW duty is the incredible negligently programmed bot AI that makes them frag you on every occasion.

This! And do not ever mention your WR in this forum, because people become angry and accuse you of bragging and lying because they do not read your posts with diligence to separate your bare information from their speculative conclusion.

Pardon my ignorance, but how long does this shell fly? 20 seconds? And did you sit immobile for the entire time? Else, this was a pretty good shot... predicting your evasive maneuvres and still placing the shell exactly where you would be half of eternity after the shot was fired.

I lost a couple of games in my Gaede. But those were all sub battles, so they do not show up in the stats so far. And about 75% of my sub battles were with the U-69, naturally. I am neither. I stated that I had a WR of 100% both in random and in coop games, probably 85% in sub games, and that I have played roughly 300 games so far. Half of those were sub games, as I consider myself to be a sub main. Every bit of information in this statement is true. And yet, it tells you not everything you would need to take into consideration to get the whole picture. Q.E.D.

I can only tell you what I noticed, and that the problem was gone after I had hidden my stats. Maybe those mods or whatever people use do not tell you the number of games the player in question has under his belt, and without this information WR/PR is a useless piece of information. And THIS was the reason I mentioned my WR in the context of this thread. You cannot tell if a player is good only by looking at his WR.

Exactly, my stats are hidden. You see, a lot of players are apparently using some mod or app to show WR, PR, idk whatsoever - and then, those people begin to act weird. You find yourself at the head of a lemmingtrain and can't sneak around anymore. The entire enemy team either focusses you or evades you like a plague. Games become unfun either way. So believe it or not, it is the truth. If it soothes you, my WR in sub battles is not 100%, but only 85% or so (I guess here, because it's not recorded afaik).

WR is no failsafe indicator. I have 100% WR both in random and coop, but after only roughly 300 games this does not top the experience and skill of some 60% WR player with 10K games.

But they would miss all the fun, then...

Try torps. This game of close range torping works both ways, and either you kill the sub in the process or instigate it to a panic dive - opening itself to a depth charge attack.

I'm barely 2 weeks in the game now, but I play both DD and sub in the sub mode. No problem getting 3 - 6 kills per game, so maybe you have to try another strategy. Like not being at the forefront (that's sub country now), but relying on subs spotting for you and killing off the enemy vanguard. No need to go for the enemy subs until their escorts are neutralised, and beware of being close to enemy subs while your bots have a line of sight to your quarry - you may get fragged by the brilliant AI.
