There are 2 stages plus an extra stage for completion per directive, so you can end up with anything from 2 to 6 stages after finishing the first 2 directives.

As it happens, I have only (permanent) ship in my port: The German DD Gaede (I don't count the Hermelin, which has a place of honor for giving me a Kraken in my very first random game) - so I know a bit about smoke. His concealment is lower than his torpedo range, like in your example. This means I can fire my torpedo without being spotted, and - naturally - without being exposed to enemy fire. Smoke is not required. You use smoke when you are the one getting spotted, not when you are easily outspotting a battleship. If it drives away from you - don't give chase. With only 1 - 2 km stealth window you cannot get close enough to torp it unseen, so the torpedoes will probably not reach him. If he is approaching you, your stealth window is actually much wider, because you can launch a couple of km before he is in range. If you attack from the side, check into which direction his turrets are facing. If they are facing away from you and he is not a 2ndary monster, then you can even show a bit of courage and risk getting spotted - until his turrets have swung around, you should have retreated into stealth already. Smoke is either a tool to help your teammates, an emergency screen to retreat safely when you blunder into an enemy unexpectedly, or - if someone is spotting for you - a temporary cover to fire your little guns.

But - correct me if I should err - wasn't it officially announced that these ships would just be reskinned Amagi with minor stat changes? Why would you buy it in the first place and complain afterwards that you got exactly what has been advertised?

It should be mentioned that a given person in forum is not necessarily the same person who is actually playing on his/her/its account, or maybe he/she/it has "acquired" the account quite recently from somebody else - so stats might not in any kind be related to his/her/its personal skills. The other team does not have more good players. Your team just happens to have a bunch of not so good or experienced players. I was playing a sub battle just now. All fine, get my sub going and drive merrily towards the enemy. After a while I check map and chat to see what the rest is doing. Turns out one of the other subs was sitting behind an island and yelling for a smoke screen every 3 seconds. The other one had not moved a single pixel forward so far, but right in this moment he asked for steering instructions, and what key was for diving. I was delighted to have such promising comrades in arms with me (or rather NOT with me, because one was camping and the other one musing). What I want to say is: Do not overestimate the other team. Just accept that you do not always get a Royal Flush.

Well, the German BB tree up to T8 Bismarck are historical ships that have existed, though some have apparently been a bit tweaked. I took a look at the Soviet BB tree and had a laughing fit. So yes, there are "real" ships here. At least in the "real" navies of any historical significance.
