A better question would be what do you gain from hunting the submarine? Today I sat on a sub with my Trashcan and mashed G. 6 bomb hits, and he invisibility cheated to wherever. A BB divmate reported also 3 bomb hits. I went on to do things that you can potentially succeed at while the sub torped our flank in the rear. When the match was won, I checked damage done to submarine... 3k. Sure was useful to drive at him and sit there a while listening to the plop plop sounds. So if team asks me to hunt the submarine in a DD, I will always press F2. -
Well most cruisers are garbage and don't have an useful role, nor do they counter anything. They do the most low impact type of damage and can mostly apply it on targets that aren't going to be killed by it while being able to oneshot the cruiser in return. Hydro is a trash consumable for a class that can't get close and it's range is usually less than the concealment of a DD anyway. All cruisers need radar at this point to be relevant. If you think cruisers are fine, just think about this : if you'd have asymmetrical matchmaking, would you want to be in the team that got more cruiser or the team that got more DD or BB?

Heh, the opposite opinion. Well you can just know how good the armor is by checking so dunno what you mean, and it's got a decent 730 turning circle. More brand alarm and anemic main battery is true of course, but useless cruiser damage doesn't matter anyway. Mostly you just sit in an annoying position, take opportunistic shots and spam air strikes.

Haarlem. Got great armor, heal at T8 and good maneuverability. Tbh I find it to be the best T8 cruiser overall.

CV's are a disaster and submarines are somehow even worse, for every class to fight. But when there's radar, DD complain. High velocity guns on cruiser, complain, SAP and complain and the same for any not terrible HE, any sort of halfway decent cruiser, more complain, RPF, various random mechanics like floodings not being instadeath or secondary batteries doing anything, planes of course in any shape or form, teams not pushing in, being pushed by reds, everything under the sun that takes away from the purity of best DD wins the game. I don't think that's the 'majority of players'. -

Usually because BB captains complain about stuff that's fine. Like for example if there was no overpenetrations, there would not be guns whose railgun ballistics and high penetration mean that they punch through both sides of a cruiser, nor would there need to be guns with short-fuse AP, and so on. There would be less distinction between both guns and armor layouts, which would probably just make whichever battleship had highest caliber and most pen best for everything and ships with tinfoil plating unplayable. But it is true. When triangle mafia complains about everything that could possibly counter a triangle its yes yes, game bad wg bad remove everything but Kleber on Kleber action from the game plz, while suggesting that airstrikes/sovietcarrier/submarine/pan-a smolenskline etc etc might just not make battleships tank and push like how everybody seems to want them do is always met with derision. -
Well I was disappointed in the Man the Guns expansion in HoI4 and wanted to try a game with the actual ship models, then a bunch of the people in that same gaming group got back/intrested all of a sudden.

That would just dumb down the game. Having to know that say some ships are so slim that you just punch through kinda sucks, but then again... Then you know and it's fine. Cruisers are the worst class in the game anyway, so just take a chill pill in your giant super artillery platform and shoot again. -

- The US Superdreadnoughts might just be too slow for co-op. You could practice long-ranged american shots though. - RMBB... I think you could like smoke up close to something and smash it with AP in co-op? Just as long as you accept that more often than not it does nothing, since this line is about doing nothing. You had Kurfurst right? How would you like vastly less effective guns that reload slower and have less range? - The Ikea DD is all about running away while sniping useless torps and complaining that the best AA isn't good enough vs carrier menace. They got decent, if short ranged guns, but I'd think you'll have a better experience in any other dd line in co-op. - BRAND ALARM! The T8 Haarlem is the cockroach king of T8 cruisers, very survivable. I'd suggest you try them a bit. Landing a good airstrike on a soft-skinned target is pretty satisfying. If you just don't get anything out of seeing hilarious numbers after some parachutes fall down, I would suspect this line isn't for you. -
Clan. It's a pretty good game too, but clan is what makes it better than just playing some random other thing instead.

To help the risky business of some cap contesting boots for example, and to have some ability to ever find a torpedo sniper. I barely use it. I mean, we have one of my messages pinned on our discord about the subject of flanking torpedo dd. It's "I went to the stupidest location on the map and found him." -

Kidd is still pretty good though, and smoke + heal + ton of HP + decent maneuverability + whateverAA is a lot more than most dd get vs carrier.

So my clanmates taught me the secret knowledge of DD yolo. Fragged a Vladi with 5 torp hits. Next, operation sit on a submarine. This is some quality gameplay. Something Terrible happened to me but fortunately team was better than theirs. -

I found the hybrid playstyle of Ise pretty fun, but I have my doubts of the USS Tumour. HE rocket planes just don't feel so great to use at the moment. I wonder if it'll replace FdG as the king of superstructure. I wish it had more HP so there would be bigger numbers to farm. -

Good start, but the damage of depth charges really needs to be looked at, since they're such an imprecise weapon considering that you can only guess at where a maxdepth submarine is. Or possibly the submarine DCP, or something. It's not rewarding to hunt a submarine at all. Also an indicator where your depth charges launch would be nice. I tried to depth charge a T8 sub in my Gröningen (not expecting it to do anything, but I tried anyway), and found out it shoots them all quite a bit forward. How do you aim that? -

Compared to Venezia it's clumsier, way less tanky, shorter ranged, with worse torp angles and range, less smoky and less DD-oneshotty. Compared to like Hindenburg, it's again way less tanky, shorter ranged, less able to pen with HE and with less DPM. Or the other old boy, DM, who has DPM, AP angle gimmicks, more HP, better AA and radar over the Zao. And so on. What Zao has over all other cruisers is the heaviest torpedo armament, and that just isn't a very practical strength in it's case. -

Why though? Destroyers are coddled enough as it is, smoke cruisers pretty darn good as they are and cruisers in general not in a great place. If anything more cruisers need radars. -
I would say no, since you already have Tirpiz. The Brandenburg has more main battery firepower, but if you want that sort of thing you can just grind any random tech tree BB line.
