I have an idea about improving the dynamic between CV and other ship classes. Just my 2 cents tho.
How about making the flight deck of CV into modules like BB turrets? Like split it into 3 parts. If the front most gets destroyed you can’t launch attack aircraft until it’s fixed, if the center gets destroyed you can only launch half a wave, and if the rear gets destroyed you can’t recover aircraft and they would have to circle around until the repair is done.
It should only take a few games of being incapacitated by enemy CV and BB snipes 3 min into the match for people to learn to fight other CVs first and stay as far away from gunfire as possible. Other surface ships would get bothered by CVs a lot less in the early/mid game because CVs are busy with each other, even after one dies the attack wave would be a lot weaker because of planes lost and less frequent because the CV is huddling in a corner far away.
If CVs ended up getting incapacitated by gun fire too often just buff their concealment. If by aircraft just buff the CAP or change the amount of module health the deck has. Balancing with a spreadsheet should be enough.
I think this would bring a lot more depth to CV gameplay like target selection and defending against attacks, also fits their historical image better without having to completely rework things.
