I wasn't around during the original event, so was very excited to see this turn up. I'm not the most skilled or dedicated player so I figured I'd get the Hiei, maybe the Kongo if I was lucky; ended up snatching them all up with two or three days to spare because it turns out the objectives were much more reasonable than I first imagined and pretty much all achievable in normal play, while still being nicely varied (thanks to the three parts to each one). Congrats to Wargaming on this one, you really got it right as far as I'm concerned! ... As was said before though, would be brilliant to have a 'grindable' Takao (make your own jokes) sometime...

It certainly seems like something of an oversight. It's a shame really, the idea of being able to watch a ship being constructed as you work towards unlocking it is a cool one; it might have worked better over a much longer timeframe, so people could appreciate the process (and have time to do the directives).

One thing just occurred to me that has at least tangential relation to this thread: when are they going to get rid of the Dockyard from the game client? It's not really a major deal, but it's still slightly irritating seeing it there every time with the bar stuck halfway; plus it reminds me that I was all of 45 minutes off the next stage completion when the thing ended (which was a bit of a frustration at the time). I'm surprised WG wants to continue drawing attention to their little Puerto Rico incident by having it remain visible, and presumably anyone who was 'persuaded' to buy the ship will have done so by now. I realise this may have already been covered elsewhere, but I haven't seen anything mentioning the answer personally.

Return of the Fleet of Fog: Last Chance!
NobleRipper replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
After one last glorious Op. Narai this morning (*****, thankfully no potateam this time) I've finally gotten the lot. Now I just need to work on making my four (five including regular ol' grey) Kongo-class battleships different enough in terms of skills and equipment that they each feel interesting to play... -
British Cruisers: Obtain Cruiser London
NobleRipper replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
With the previous British cruiser directives I was able to complete all the directives through normal play in very little time; as the London is the only reward I'm really interested in here I'm hoping that will be the case again now but the references to 'diverse' directives and 'experienced players' being able to complete faster is a little ominous. Will have to wait and see exactly what they involve before committing to the grind, I suppose. -
Raptor Rescue feels EXTRA bugged this week
NobleRipper replied to EmilyKing's topic in General Discussion
Hope that doesn't happen (somehow). I only started playing recently, and seeing videos about the Operations on youtube was a pretty big reason behind my wanting to start; I could do PvP in dozens of games if I wanted to. If Operations were removed (or just not fixed), that would be a pretty major draw removed from the game for me, I'd probably lose a lot of interest. -
Given that so many people will inevitably fail to get the PR before the end date, do we at least get an animation of them tearing down whatever work has been completed and scrapping the hull to free up the slip? That at least would be a nice touch of historical accuracy.

I love the pre-Dreadnought era ships (especially RN as that's what I'm most familiar with), it would be great to see more (a Majestic would make sense given how many of them there were) although given the characteristics of the type we would run the risk of ending up with just a bunch of Mikasa clones. That said, there are always the semi-Dreadnoughts: the Lord Nelson/Agamemnon, King Eddie VII, possibly something in a Radetzky class. Then as well there are the second-class battleships (smaller and faster generally), like Renown of 1895 and Triumph/Swiftsure. Of course if we open the pre-Dread can of worms, does that mean we could end up with (more) armoured cruisers...? ;)
