    Shot Down Friendly 'Plane

I did this the other day with my Omaha in a battle where I also put three torpedoes into a battleship and did 5k more damage from the strike than the combined theoretical max of all the 'pedos put together, which sank 'im (guessing it was a magazine detonation although I didn't get any kind of notification of the fact); good thing too as he had me cold. Funny game all round...

Why aren't operations scaled to tier?

Gotcha. Sad to say, if they had that kind of reaction on here I think it'd get an extraordinary amount of use... AI coding is hard, creating satisfying and balanced linear scenarios is hard; creating a room for thirty humans to just shoot each other is easy. I agree, I've said before there should be different levels of Ops, although personally I'd want to see even more than two (I'd have a T8+ as well, although it sounds like that's unlikely); it seems to me that if we have ships from any given tier (particularly if WG are selling premiums at that tier) then we shouldn't be discouraged from playing them, regardless of what the tier is...

Why aren't operations scaled to tier?

Ops take more time and effort to code than random battles, of course, so why 'waste' those resources when they could be used to pump out more premiums?

    GKD to gulag? (Kots)

No. That's the mean. An average can be either mean, median or mode.

Bug? Incompetence? or will to kidding players?

Unfortunately, I've seen the bots manage to mess it up on their own without any outside help. And to be quite honest the pathfinding AI shouldn't be so fragile that a few nudges from friendly ships send them wildly off-path. Still, can't complain too loudly or they'll take it away again...

Has the Raptor Rescue operation changed ?

So just had a go. The team failed the Op at the literal last second (really we needed about ten or fifteen seconds more), not because of enemy action but because the Raptor (completely unforced, no enemies even got close) decided to ram the Arsenal which was crossing its bow, and got stuck moving slowly in the wrong direction. We had to physically push them apart, and Raptor managed to get to spitting distance of the endzone just as time ran out. So glad now Narai's back that the bot AI has been well and truly fixed, really I am...

Has the Raptor Rescue operation changed ?

I've had trouble getting a win on it so far, and some of my teammates have *ahem* 'reported' the same. I think that players have somewhat forgotten how to play the Op, or else Lossi's right and there are a lot of people playing it for the first time thanks to Coronavirus. I'm going to give it a try later on, Ops (much like Scotch) usually go smoother in the evenings...

    Wargaming, communication and this board.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying we had a lot to say about event features/RNG on this forum; also that things have been changed between events recently (these are not related points); and also that these changes included the removal of things that people did like; but the key point (which is there in the part of my post that you quoted) is that we have no way of knowing if WG did listen to the playerbase or if there were other factors involved. And I didn't say anything at all about anything in the game outside of events, certainly not as pertaining to the RNG therein. The current event (and the ones that came recently before it) is a prime example of what I'm talking about: British Cruisers 1 left the receipt of the actual ships (the main prize/attraction of the event) in the hands of RNG, although the tokens were obtained at a known rate. The BC2 event had a guaranteed prize and the tokens were gained at a known rate, but it was down to luck from the previous event as to whether players had the ship that allowed them to shorten the grind or not. Now in European Destroyers, we have a known progression for the ships and no reliance on previous events, but the tokens themselves are overwhelmingly influenced by RNG. Do you see how certain things that were complained about for each event have been changed or removed in time for the next one? Again though, my point was that we don't have any way of knowing if that was down to forum feedback or not.

    Wargaming, communication and this board.

I can only offer my own observations, and I've only been around since December last year, but for what it's worth: It seems as though certain things in the game are changed in line with some of the opinions presented here. We've had a lot to say on the forums (to put it mildly) about how the recent events have been run, particularly about the use of RNG, and it seems that each new event has done away with certain unpopular features and tried something else. However, it's also the case that certain features which were liked and accepted have also been removed or re-jigged into things perceived as less consumer/player-friendly. Also, it's entirely impossible to tell how much of this was due to feedback on the forum, which leads me to another point. The transparency of communication on these forums is sorely lacking. A prime example is the post by @Excavatus above (and apologies, this would be getting into that debate he mentioned) regarding WG's prioritising of the spreadsheet over player experience. All else being equal, it's true that raw numbers will give more (let's call it) accurate feedback than people; however, quite frankly the numbers are only as good as the people collecting and interpreting them. What if the spreadsheet is collecting irrelevant information? What if the people reporting on the spreadsheet are picking and choosing numbers to fit their own agendas? Statistics as a field is historically rather notorious for its misuse. I should be clear that I'm not accusing WG of deliberately doing anything like that, but my point is that we are given essentially no information about the spreadsheet, what it contains and how it's used (in the past I've been told by @MrConway that he didn't have access to the actual figures that were in discussion at the time, despite making assertions based on them), so we're unable to make any kind of judgement for ourselves. The creation of new threads for each news item and feedback threads for numerous different aspects currently under discussion is a very nice and conscientious inclusion, and helps ensure that there is a place to discuss pretty much anything that comes up. However, I personally find a lot of the news items to appear very similar to one another, sometimes almost entirely interchangeable, and so given that a thread is created for each and every single one, it can sometimes be quite confusing as to where to post about a given topic. And to go back to my point about transparency above, we don't really receive any feedback on the forum here about whether or not the opinions we share in those threads have any real effect. Sometimes it feels like those threads only go up as a token obligation toward the playerbase. Overall, I have to say that I'm much more glad to have these forums than not: aside from anything else it's a good way to find out the opinions of other players and pick up on information that you might have missed elsewhere. That said, I very much get the impression that this place is more for players to air their opinions than for WG to do any significant level of data gathering.

    New Rent Bundles

I for one am very happy with the opportunity to get 6pt commanders for 250k credits (I've actually been hovering on broke credits-wise for the last couple of days having just bought and outfitted an Edinburgh, but I'm still able to fund the habit after only one or two games). The RNG aspect is as annoying fun'n'engaging as ever, but the cost is low enough that it's not an issue going through a few commanders I don't need to get the useful ones. The chance to try out new and different ships is even quite nice (quite like the Bayard; not so much the Nelski). Wouldn't touch the doubloons-cost bundles with a T10 barge pole, of course
  11. It's nice that it's for thematic reasons, and as I say I'm personally grateful for another British captain. As a counterpoint, though, there's a Captain Dasha for every country; and if further justification is needed of course there's some certain historical justification: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_of_the_Wild_Geese

    Wows server hamster died

Fantastic, just got kicked out of an Op five times, achieving virtually nothing by the end, so that's one game completely wasted. Worst part was that I could see half the rest of my team were going through the same thing (although it didn't seem to the same extent). When will these issues be fixed?

    Some codes

Go into the Profile tab in your game client and into the collection; click on each one you haven't got yet and it will give you the opportunity to 'buy' it for the cost of one duplicate. All the collections allow that, but they usually ask at least four or five dupes per item; this one, as I say, has the ratio set at 1:1. Should solve that problem for you!
  15. Well done on the implementation of the collection for this one, WG! The number of items isn't excessive, the mission to get containers is beautifully straightforward, widely accessible and gives the exact number of crates needed to complete the collection (love the 1:1 conversion rate for duplicates), and there are even multiple extra ways to get the crates as well so that someone doesn't even have to complete the full mission in the time period. The level of rewards is somewhat modest but seems perfectly reasonable for the effort involved; one minor criticism though is that I imagine not everyone has a use for a British captain reward (although it suits me personally), so a choice of country might have been better. Other than that, though, I thought this was a really good mini-event! It was certainly refreshing to be free of the RNG that seems increasingly to be influencing how much we get out of most in-game events. Good job!

    Some codes

There are only 23 items in the set, and duplicates can be exchanged for new ones at a 1:1 ratio, so to complete the set you need only to complete the 23 personal missions. Alternately you can get up to 10 or so extra from the codes, so you'd only need to complete 13 missions. Or else you can set the collection to 'collect', at which point you'll randomly get new collection pieces with your daily crates.

    Co-op battles [Short duration]

Just had a 3:13 with two virtually unmolested enemy cruisers remaining at the end (my shells hanging tantalisingly above one of them, at that). At least the servers didn't kick me out of this one before the finish (maybe they didn't have time)...

Is the EU server down or is it just me?

Just had a game where I tried to go into battle, it dumped me out of the game client and I was obliged to reconnect. Managed to load back in just after the start of the match, went forward a bit, started to aim at an enemy, got dumped out of the client and was obliged to reconnect. When I got back in again, I was down to about 1/8th HP and on fire and the match had about a minute left. Hopefully the next one goes better... Edit: So coincidentally I just picked up the Lenin credit-rental bundle, and brilliantly the captain's surname is Loginov...

    New Rent Bundles

14 commanders, 6pts a piece, all of which will fit in your reserve although not sure if they would use up those two vacant spots first or come with their own. That sounds entirely likely, although I was full up when mine went in. I can confirm it, as I say I had no free reserve slots when my 'Bama commander became unemployed so he got his own. I had thought to clear a slot or two out in the meantime on the optimistic assumption that I'd just get free slots come what may, but your way is much better ;)
  23. NobleRipper

    New Rent Bundles

Didn't use any skillpoints on mine to confirm, but as I say if it follows the usual rules for rentals then no, anything bought will stay on the captain. Only when the ship leaves your port, meaning the commander would instantly occupy that slot. If you choose to dismiss the commander then yes, the slot would be vacant thereafter.
  24. NobleRipper

    New Rent Bundles

Yes indeedy, now let's see if I can get some more 6pt captains for countries I can use (thanks in advance RNG, very fun'n'engaging) False. And also @mantiscoreRental captains that are left over when the ships leave your port come with their own commander slot; dismissing the captains means you still get to keep the slot.

    New Rent Bundles

His Haida captain (the recent rental) is the small pop-up box, and still has all skillpoints already assigned. The skilless captain seems to be from a Perth rental (looks like he has two in fact); if things follow the same pattern as previous rentals any skills purchased would stay on the captain after the end of the rental. Will find out in about five minutes for myself if I keep my 'Bama captain...
