You think so? Try getting 5 wins in Ops versus the same in Co-op, see how long that takes

Sadly still no recognition for Ops though...

What you have to remember is that Fleet Air Arm aircraft of WW2 were usually just elaborate ways of disguising attack pigeons; in the case of the bombers they needed at least two birds to carry the weight (one for the torp and one to haul the crew). Erego, there's a lot of free space in the airframe that's essentially useless ablative: unless an enemy AA gunner hits a pigeon dead-on, they don't do any meaningful damage. Typically brilliant Brrrritish engineering! Edit: Oh, until you get to Barracudas and the like of course; by then they were using the far more powerful seagull-based platform.

I normally go for coal, usually to buy collection containers with but have been saving up for a couple of ships recently; at the moment however I'm needing to build up some cash so going for that one instead (second or third one had a new port slot in it which was a nice surprise). To be honest I've had nearly as many supercontainers (I think it's just one less so far) from regular choices as I have from TYL which I used to go in for a lot in my youthful optimism, and the rewards are so much more reliable (or just plain better) that I wouldn't bother with a TYL now unless I was really feeling lucky (or possibly bored)...

It wouldn't be hard to add Leander to the Commonwealth tree and rename the current Leander as HMS Ajax (for one), I suppose. Would even be nice to have a proper ABDAC collection: we have Perth and Exeter already; would need Java, De Ruyter and Houston added of course; and a modified Clemson as well as an Admiralen-class destroyer and either mod. Jervis and/or an E-class. Then of course a non-ARP version of Nachi and/or Haguro, a Sendai-class light cruiser and mods of a Shiratsuyu, Asashio, Kagero and Fubuki, to cover the lot.

A fat chance is still a chance. At least the mission is easy

I did hear that there was a particular type of bot that sails around at the back and then just goes into a corner whenever it's spotted; actually saw 'someone' play that way in a game before hearing about it, so it made total sense to find out. Then again, I also heard that there's a place in a man's head where, if you shoot it, it explodes. So...

Definitely, or maybe worth starting a new one condensing the previous. Personally I wonder if it's worth having a general 'This is the Ops thread' thread to discuss them generally and house all the tips/tricks/advice etc.; doesn't warrant an entire forum to itself admittedly but we could probably get a sticky if there was enough interest?

Nice one, many thanks!

This is by far the most important skill for a Leander driver I have a question for the assembled: noone has mentioned La Galissonnière so far; was this an oversight, or is she just plain no good for Ops? I ask as I'm going down the French cruiser line at the moment and having indecent amounts of fun with my Duguay-Trouin, just wondering if her big sister is going to be of use in Ops (or Algerie for Narai for that matter)?

Leander is brilliant, not just the smoke/heal/hydro but the general manoeuvrability, good torps and the versatility of the guns (albeit not so hot against the forts in KW). Perth is quite similar, albeit with a slightly different playstyle due to the creeping smoke and choice of ammo. Warspite is always fun, able to just keep on slugging away and taking hits; definitely worth a look if you like playing battleships. Not tried Queen Elizabeth, but presumably there are a number of similarities. I've always found that Devonshire seems to out-perform London; apologies to @DanSilverwing but I've always just found that London is too short-ranged to get the guns into action effectively and she loses a kilometre to Devo for torps; the smoke isn't really much of a substitute, particularly at the cost of a heal. I'm probably going to have to take my Pensacola out for a spin in Ops at some point, love the guns but I'm not sure yet if she's got the toughness to be a good choice. I know some people take destroyers into Ops, personally I think they're generally a poor choice (especially the Euro DDs, I shudder at the thought of having such poor torpedo damage); I'd prefer another cruiser on the team instead. I don't have any carriers of the requisite tier, so can't comment about them. All told , it seems from all the posts so far that you can't really go wrong with the RN!

Claim Your Compensation Now! [EU Server Issues]
NobleRipper replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Have a feeling the outage is continuing elsewhere today, as I've had seemingly nothing but green teams full of bots. Also, now can't get into the News, good thing I managed to see the article about compensation before this little issue hit... -
I have no real use for them, but even if I did, I wouldn't play the random bundle lottery to get hold of them. Can't wait for this random bundles idea to go the way of the dodo (the occasional free-tokens version is bad enough; actual gold-cost RNG is just insulting), although I have a feeling it won't be any time soon if at all...

Actually, if I remember correctly grog was just the mix of water and spirit doled out to the sailors twice a day (by RN regulations at least), generally referred to by the water-to spirit ratio; regular would be three-water (3:1), five-water would be considered a punishment. Technically didn't have to be rum, the ships in home waters often had gin instead (or just beer as they were closer to a fresh supply). They often tended to add lemon or lime juice to combat scurvy.

WGC & 1 Day of Premium Account! What Could Be Better?
NobleRipper replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
My desktop shortcut now points straight to the .exe file, hopefully I'll remember to open the WGC some time between the 20th and 31st of May... -
If you make it with Navy Rum instead of water, you can still light it when wet ;)

Superior British shells. The secret is in the tea blend used for the powder charge.

Understood. I seem to recall it being said elsewhere, though, that it's not a single 'server' that everyone is on and therefore some people can suffer from servers being down while it doesn't affect others. There've been a couple of times recently where an outage has been widespread but not universal.

Good on you for managing anyway, then, but not sure why you felt that was relevant to my post. Seems I'm back in now at least.

Tried again to get in, the game said for security reasons I had to re-enter my password. Is there a security situation going on here?
-
Yup.

Conquer the Stars in Master of Orion!
NobleRipper replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I'm having some mouse issues too, the camera zooming/panning is very sensitive and sometimes I can't interact with certain interface buttons properly by single-clicking; unfortunately can't find a mouse sensitivity option in the game itself. I'm using the trackpad on my laptop, I imagine it's causing some issues... -
It's clearly a suction cup so one can stick the ship to windows, such as the inside of a car windscreen in place of fuzzy dice...
