LittleWhiteMouse leaves the CC program

Seems to me that WG just don't assign much value to people, in general. Presumably more so to their wallets though. -
Operations returning or not? (Cherry Blossom and Hermès)
NobleRipper replied to Starkaddd's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, I don't believe Lesta have the right staff to make new Ops anymore. I'd love to see new ones, or even just the missing ones returned, but I can't help thinking it would be worse for Ops as a whole if it was done badly and put potential new Oppers off altogether. Sadly, my expectations of WoWs seem to have fallen as far as 'be careful what you wish for'... -

I wonder how long it will be before the recruitment-event bribes have to include offers of happy endings? -
PSA: free day of premium account (again!).

Pretty sure they are, or at least were. Makes for an amusing little treasure hunt to find the button in amongst all the various news items I'm uninterested in -
Hey, I resemble that remark :P I should point out that as London is a County-class, she's technically named for the Greater London area rather than the city strictly ;) That said, I fully support the idea of the Red Dragon taking to the sea (we've got kindred wyrms here in Norfolk but they're mostly green). In fact, why not have a bunch of Welsh ships? As mentioned there are already two Irish (the Belfasts) and multiple Scots (Edinburgh, Campbeltown, arguably Caledon, and the last two cruisers of the Scotch Navy: MacAroff and McCoyan ;))

Team damage is out, friendly torpedoes are in. Good or bad?
NobleRipper replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
I'm glad team damage is gone and had been looking forward to its removal for ages beforehand. Like detonations, it's one of those pieces of 'realism' that just doesn't fit an arcadey team-battle computer game. There are still penalties for torping your teammates: those torps don't hit the enemy; same with errant gunfire. Yes, the change is presumably just stemming from a desire to dumb things down and pave the way for subs, but at least it means I don't lose half my health to some second-line torping weekend warrior whilst in the middle of a DD knife fight. Also, griefers have lost the major part of their annoyance power at a stroke...- 68 replies

Problem with recent mailing We're sending you signals
NobleRipper replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
Bit of a bodge I know, but I see this kind of issue from time to time with the email links (I have EU and NA accounts) and I just find the relevant extension on the web address and change it to the correct one ('eu.' to 'na.' or '.eu' to '.com' are the usual ones) which usually redirects perfectly fine. -
WoWs Interaction with Support ( is this typical ? )
NobleRipper replied to Aleksandra_Samusenko_1st's topic in General Discussion
It's not just a recent thing to be fair, there was a load of grief from Co-op matches being over in three minutes or less before WG changed the starting points totals from 300 to 400, just because the bots were being sunk too quickly. The more things change, the more something something meme chose? -
Just unlocked Dutch CL C"Celebes." What a PoG
NobleRipper replied to SolanumTuberosumRex's topic in General Discussion
I would urge you to pick up Java and De Ruyter as well if you're into the historical ships: they have a lot of significant history attached to them from the dark days of the early war in the Pacific. They go well with Exeter and Perth as a set ;) -
Since detonations are worthless, why are they still an achievement
NobleRipper replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
I'm not entirely convinced that the full-health-no-deto system is fit for purpose to be honest, particularly on ships with lower health- if they get hit by a staggered salvo (particularly torps) or a couple in quick succession, they can go from 100% to <75%-and-boom in essentially the same amount of time. Given that that can still be basically the same, taking away the flags as a consolation is just cruel... -
It seems like 'Early 20th-century empires and their follow-on states' is exactly what the Pan-European tree should be covering. I could see a cruiser line starting off with Zenta, Admiral Spaun and Novara (which doesn't seem to be on OP's otherwise very impressive K.u.K.K. ship chart) or some combination thereof for up to maybe T4 at a stretch; as mentioned already there were designs/studies already mooted for follow-on ships to those which existed at the time of the empire's break-up. I'd also thoroughly be in favour of an 'up-to-1918' mode, given how much more variety there was in warship types around that period; start from around 1890 as a rough (and admittedly arbitrary) origin point and you'd get the development of destroyers, armoured and protected (later light) cruisers etc. in addition to the evolution of the battleships all potentially covered.

Since detonations are worthless, why are they still an achievement
NobleRipper replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
Well, the purpose of detonations is to make people spend resources on mitigating them. Then, the average potato (as we've seen from some recent threads) pays no attention to the bottom right of their screen and many of them probably aren't usually aware of what killed them. Therefore, the achievement is an extra advertisement to them that they need to buy more anti-deto gubbinz in case they were too dense to realise it before ;) -
(Because it seems like a while since we had a thread to properly complain about how Ops is being abused by WG) One extra point I'd add: WG's argument is that Ops doesn't get enough interest to justify development; if I recall correctly (admittedly no great guarantee), support for Apple OS and Linux versions of the game were dropped completely because they were in the same situation; Ops hasn't been dropped completely, despite the benefit this would presumably have in helping to control ever-increasing patch sizes; presumably that must be because it has a number of players that WG doesn't want to casually discard; erego, 'not enough interest to justify development' may mean a different thing to WG than 'only a small number of people are playing'. Also, apparently the Dutch T6 kinda sucks in Ops, which is also disappointing. Anyone care to offer any thoughts on the subject?

Write here your biggest everyday annoyance when in WOW
NobleRipper replied to Genie_of_the_Lamp's topic in General Discussion
Agree with this so hard. Plus, it's still as true now as it was halfway down the second page of the thread... For me, it's just the fact that every time I log in to WoWs, deal with the slow and sticky UI, wait through the enthusiasm-killing battle loadtimes and the extra couple of minutes at the beginning of a battle before anything actually happens (fortunately not an issue in Ops), at the end of it all I know that any fun I end up having isn't through the devs' efforts anymore, but virtually in spite of them. -

[Poll] How do you feel when encountering new Dutch cruisers and their Airstrike capability "in the wild"?
NobleRipper replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
The one time I've seen a strike from one of them come near me I didn't really notice until afterward when I got a plane kill. Just been messing around with the T6 in the training room, and to be honest I'm not impressed; the airstrike does set fires relatively nicely but seems to skew to a pretty low hit rate/damage, and the main guns seem slightly inaccurate even at pretty close ranges. At least they hit relatively solidly... Edit: Also just noticed that airstrike aiming doesn't auto-lock a target, so that can be an annoyance in the middle of a hectic battle. -
Jingles on the state of Operations in WoWs
NobleRipper replied to NobleRipper's topic in General Discussion
Haunted by the squeaks of all those expiring hamsters Ahem. I know that some folks have experimented with a similar sort of thing in the past, so just now wondering how easy it might be to mock up a rough 'custom Operation' in the training room; we could pick a map, discuss what sort of numbers/tiers/types of enemies would be appropriate and go in with an appropriate team (could even do more or less than the usual seven if we were feeling especially frisky). Would give us a chance to put some of the ideas into practice that @WWDragon mentioned, all of which are definitely on point although I'm entirely unconvinced that Lesta's team has the kind of skills or talent necessary to put them into practice for themselves, unfortunately... We'd be stuck with the regular spawn points and win conditions of course, but still might be worth a go to see how creatively we could apply the different game modes/maps to a more asymmetric style of battle. I especially like @HansRoaming's idea about a Big Race scenario of some kind. -
Jingles on the state of Operations in WoWs
NobleRipper replied to NobleRipper's topic in General Discussion
(Thumbs up for the T5 Ops suggestion by the way, not the COVID; hope your family folks get well soon!) I'd love to see a T5 Op. too, some of my favourite ships are at that tier and it would be great to take some of them out for one (or ideally more!). I can only imagine that WG's inability to make T8 and above Ops (I seem to recall from somewhere that they said they just didn't know how to balance them) applies at least a little to the lower tiers as well: cruisers especially at T5 can be reeeeally fragile, and battleships can be either Kongo or really slow, so I can see how making an Op. with an intensity and pace that suits as many ships as possible would be even harder at T5 than some others. -
I've not tried it yet, so I'm just going by the listed stats; which other T5 cruisers do you have (and which ones does it outperform) out of interest?

Much like minesweepers, any ship can also be a submarine... Once.
