General Submarines related discussions
NobleRipper replied to YabbaCoe's topic in General Discussion
The cycle seems to be something like this: "Subs aren't in a finished enough state to go into the game yet, let's test them..." - "But the PTS is useless for testing any major new systems!" "Then we'll make a separate game mode for them in the live game..." - "But no one wants to play it because they're not in a finished enough state to go into the game yet!" "Then let's test them..." -
WoWS x Warhammer 40,000—Show Your Loyalty to the Imperium or Chaos in World of Warships
NobleRipper replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Honestly, I've been pretty disappointed by the 40k crossovers. Not only is the F2P stuff noticeably thin on the ground, there's also just a basic lack of stuff available compared to seemingly every other crossover event: just two ships (actually clones-but-worse of an existing ship), two unique captains (not sold separately), a couple of afterthought camo types to pad out the numbers (that don't really fit the aesthetic of the property they're portraying, at least not the 'blue stripe' Imperium one). Given the breadth of the source material, it's a real shame we didn't get at least another couple of commanders and/or a Xenos ship or two. Presumably the crossover arrangement with GW itself was just for the original stuff though, so anything we're likely to get in future will just be re-runs (probably with WG's usual subsequent-event diminishing returns)... -
Are the tokens for the Italian campaign rather generous?
NobleRipper replied to Camperdown's topic in General Discussion
It all rather depends on what you think of the items they can be exchanged for... -
Epic gamestore WoWs try out, fun fun fun
NobleRipper replied to Brinckie's topic in General Discussion
I look forward to seeing what special bonuses and promotions are given only to players who got the game from the Epic store, which aren't available to other players; and vice versa of course... -
Nice In honesty, given what we know of WG's usual disdain for player feedback, the opposition to Stinkeye must have been truly monumental for them to react this way. I'm kinda impressed...

Sure seems like a classic April Fools joke to me ;) -
What's the pic for, personal collection or is there a project you're working on? :)

What is your extra tokens mission?
NobleRipper replied to koliber_1984's topic in General Discussion
That's not my perspective at all, my example was hypothetical. Personally, I can't be bothered to sit and grind out credits on that scale over the weekend, I have better things to do, so it doesn't matter how much they've offered me. As to other players' opinions, it's not going to be 'you never know which period of time is important' so much as 'none of the individual events matter, I just have to keep grinding whether I'm interested or not, in case I'm penalised in future'. As for yourself, glad you're happy; I still don't care for WG introducing more ways of giving players different rewards for arbitrary or no reasons. People playing this event are being rewarded differently for the same effort, based on things not encompassed by this event; that's bad design. -
Do you like to have Star Trek inspired WoW stuff like Warhammer ones?
NobleRipper replied to VedranSeaWolf359's topic in General Discussion
It would certainly make more sense than a Transformers crossover, given that ST has actual ships in it and all. Count me in, but only if there's an outright ban on anything from the STD era... Let's draw the line at Babylon 5 though -
What is your extra tokens mission?
NobleRipper replied to koliber_1984's topic in General Discussion
I agree it's a better excuse than their usual one, but what if (for example) someone has been playing a lot recently except didn't care for one of the previous events, and didn't play much during that one as a result in anticipation of having a much better time (and putting their stored up flags, camos etc. to much better use) with this one? Suddenly they're being penalised in this event for their play in past unconnected ones. Just because this system is better than RNG, doesn't mean it's good. Also, the missions themselves are in multiple stages so people who play more can get more reward just by the way the mission is already structured. There was no reason for them to introduce the differentiation. Also, given the effort WG usually seem to go to in order to attract old players back into the game after an absence, it seems odd that they're giving anyone who returns to the game in this patch an outright lesser reward than regular players. -

Have to see, Italian Dasha looks great to me! Just change the ships' flags to the national ones at the bottom of the Flags tab on the Exterior screen.

What is your extra tokens mission?
NobleRipper replied to koliber_1984's topic in General Discussion
I have to leave a horse's head in some guy's bed I only get to go for 1400 tokens, needing 3.4mil credits, I highly doubt I'll be bothered to finish it but I'm a bit annoyed that it's another instance of different players being treated differently by WG for little or no reason... -
[Poll] Did you get "Lepanto" or "10.000 Tokens" as your 1st pick in Armory RNG bundle?
NobleRipper replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
The 600 tokens/miscellaneous trash one for me, and also for my alt. account. I think I'll keep my doubies... -
Fair enough, easily completed then!

@TheWarJaC I have a mission listed in the Italian Battleships directives which states just 'Win Battles', without specifying an amount. What are the actual conditions for completing that one (or is it just aspirational)?

How is your current level of satisfaction? [Poll]
NobleRipper replied to OldSchoolFrankie's topic in General Discussion
I played about half a dozen games last update, after doing a lot of WoWs over xmas/New Year; the skill rework has really eroded my motivation to play. I'm at least a little interested in getting some free port slots Spaghettleships though, so I went for a 3 and will probably play more this update than last, even if it's still down significantly compared to my average for last year. -
[Poll] Free captain respec ended - what did you guys do with your cruisers (especially concerning new "Special Skills")?
NobleRipper replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I'm leaving everything unspec'd as long as I can, preferably until something like a final version of the captain skills has been confirmed in-game. Will see if I can get Spaghettleships without! When the time eventually comes I certainly won't end up taking any skills that have specific penalty modifiers included, though. -
I've seen this happen pretty much since starting play (over a year ago now). You can launch the second tube if you really hammer the fire button, not sure about how accurate the fish would be though given the swinging. It would be nice if they'd fix it...

Thanks for posting the code mate! As it's PvP I think I'll skip it though ;) -
A warning: you may lose your last day for resetting your captain skills
NobleRipper replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Thanks. It was the downloading, for the most part; the installing took a while, but I don't think it was close to the same time. -

What is your "exit strategy" with the free Captain respec ending in less than 2 days away?
NobleRipper replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
That is very much up to you, depending on a) if you're happy with your build/s at the moment and b) you have faith that the skills you've chosen will not be messed with by WG as they belatedly implement the balance to the skill rework. If no to either (or both), you're probably best to leave them unskilled for the foreseeable future. The lessons I've personally taken away from all this: I don't need skilled captains to go on playing Co-op Captain Skills are pretty much all just quality-of-life improvements that are nice to have, but can be dispensed with if one is prepared to accept a bit more slog in playing The new skills system is a complicated tangle that I plan on interacting with as little as possible, to avoid (as I've said elsewhere) having to do homework in order to play a game I might not be playing WoWs all that much going forward if sweeping, untested, poorly thought-out changes like this become the norm (or more frequent at least) Yes, I'm aware that subs and cruiser-carriers are both somewhere on the horizon... -

NobleRipper replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
(My emphasis) We're in update 0.10.0 at the moment, so as far as I can tell, if this was going to happen then it would already have in order to convert captains from the old system to the new. I seem to recall that some of my captains still had points allocated just before I resetted (saying it now because apparently it annoys people ), but I wasn't going to trust to that 'recommendation system' for any of my builds. Given what I've seen and what's been said elsewhere about the skills WG 'recommends' on different ships, I have no cause to regret that decision whatsoever...
