Give New Players a Fun to Play Environment that's free of CVs, subs and seal clubbers
UnterSeeBot replied to _HomTanks_'s topic in General Discussion
were they playing premium ships? premiums for some utterly stupid reason, allow players to shortcut their pretected MM. Also, protected MM stops at tier 5, however few battles a person has played (also stupid). -
ahh, but you have to prove it and come here with the screenshots. Be sure to bring an umbrella. really good (not dmg farmers) CVers are so rare these days, I haven't come across one since the Summer. But, CVers that are AFK, suicidal (or clueless on how to manage their concealment), or other forms of just plain bad, are legion. The majority of CV gameplays(ers) do not contribute anything major or consequent to Random battles. They are often an irrelevance. More and more often, I forget that we have CVs in the battle. Irrelevance is quite as unacceptable as overpowered. my favourite was a double strike on 2 enemy CVs in my Belfast, having patiently stalked them all battle. Sinking a Graf Zeppelin with a toxic dd such as Asashio also makes me smile, though I rarely get the opportunity more than once or twice a month. Poor Graf, the days when it had Hydro and the RTS simultaneous control with air squadrons were much more fun. Today it is a pale shadow of past glories and rage quitting enemy dders/ problem is that the skill requirements and player efforts are so low to get essential "effect" in battles with a CV, coupled with the disconnect that CVers now have from their hull (auto pilot is too complicated for many many users), CVs need a dive and hide buff, where they become submarines. Sadly we cannot buff stupid. ^^

is it possible, in real world Random Battle conditions, to deplane a Kaga? Most battles, I commonly forget I have the rocket attack fighters, never running short of the far more efficient HE bombers and Torp squadrons.

Give New Players a Fun to Play Environment that's free of CVs, subs and seal clubbers

which now that XP requirements for upshipping have been reduced, along with other bonuses such as a 200% weekend, shove many an unsuspecting newbie into the shark pool, without camo, without upgrades, without captain skills (or at best with only 1 point), in their rusty (no camo) new floating citadel (Emerald). A true horror story that occurs everyday on WOWS blood spattered servers. Reminds me of those movies where naive young newbie students traipsing around Europe.. -

ww2 ships making the most damage to enemy military ships?
UnterSeeBot replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
This line of reasoning goes slightly beyond the credible.. -
also, following recent dev announcement that they are exploring the introduction of of hybrids (cruisers and bbs with player controlled cruise missiles bombers), and now that I am gloating over my new aquisition : please give Smaland her due!
-
WOWS always has been, in the core design, a frustration(for free)/release(for $)/reward(for $) model/ The new player starter experience has long lagged behind other areas of this game's development, but it is not as bad as it used to be. They don't seem to announce changes to the new player experience, but it has definitely improved since last year. Create an alt just to relive those precious moments of proudly emerging from protected MM in your brand new Emerald, with one captain point and no access to camo or flags ? You can't anymore. The new player experience still has many rough edges, but some of the worst have gone. Obviously the roughest edge, being blown to smithereens by a seal clubbing 5000 battle 19 point captain tier 4 CVer, is still there./

Well including a t 3 Italian bb with "justdodge" AA would be a mildly discouraging start for fans of this tech tree. I call that something of an admission by WG.
-
Well thanks to all who have replied, you have all helped me reach a decision, to stop prevaricating! However well or badly I do with this boat, I'm sure I'll have fun with it. 1st battle was happily a win, I just sailed around looking sharp and setting fires (Friesland without the smoke)
-
probably, though WeeGee producers will still be looking for a Puerto Rico v 2.0 event; we can count on them.
-
don't give weegee ideas! a 2 mil free xp light cruiser would be nice though, something something Plymouth, for example. It should have long lasting smoke, radar, hydro and HE shells...
-
with my luck the dice would roll a 7.
-
I already have the "royal" green/gold camo from the campaign for Smal. Which is a nice extra/ this is an interesting point, for those that grind RB tokens.
-
I'm ready and waiting for my network of satellites armed with orbital strike lasers aimed with the help of a anti sub superconducting quantum interference device.
-
I won't complete the mission for the special commander in time, but have been saving coal too, ratehr than spending it on new steel shinies such as Marceau. Methinks the contrasting opinions here are argument enough to wait until at least the skill changes are live (9.9) and possibly Euro legendary captain appears in the Armory. If do decide to do a quick RB reset, I'll have enough spare free xp to make a single line fairly easily, and still have 2 mil available, by the time the next RB season starts. If this makes sense.
-
what do you think of Smaland, is she worth 2 mil? Is she fun?
-
isn't the concealment the same as for Halland (6 km with module and CE)? i thought the Smaland party trick was its 7.5 km radar & better gunnery than Halland. (better ROF and range)
-
No News about CVs; there is no suggestion they will be rereworked, or removed. https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/general-news/waterline-what-will-happen-next/ but there is news about hybrid bb/cvs that will rely on the CV rework mechanics to give players control over their planes while their bb plows on autopilot like a zombie (life as usual)
-
none of them, I afraid, I really want a t10 asashio with klebers speed, Loyangs handling, German hydro and Hallands AA, Daring's smoke; also with Massa secondaries would be nice. but I'm not sure Santa will agree to this request/ but whatever would bring me most fun in random battles and which is generally agreed to be overpowered. Tier 10 bbs, excepting Repub, all seem quite boring to me, gameplay is too slow. Colbert looks like lots of fun, but quite crazy, difficult to pull off well? (Main armament is like the namesake's moustache, thin, very short ranged and lightweight!)
-
Alaska is worth the free xp/ Right now the best performing tier 9 cruiser, superior by a wide margin to Azuma and Agir. Yoshino is a coal ship, she is fine, a better Azuma, but not exceptional.
-
the crazy thing is, that (including the credit/silver cost of buying stuff back,), tier 10 Rb ships probably work out cheaper in free xp than tier 10 free xp ships (with 3 x seasonal bonus)!
-
What are the best 3 premium ships in the game right now?
UnterSeeBot replied to seXikanac's topic in General Discussion
The ones you enjoy. But Massa, the t8 bb, is by far the very best value for money/doublons of all premiums in the game. However be wary of what others recommend, just because a ship does well, on average, among 10 000 players, does not mean you will do well in it. My second favourite dd is Terrible, I am happy with my results, but few others would agree! Make good use of the Rentals opportunities. -
Something to note, American tier 8 premiums do NOT have USN Super Heavy AP (which the tech tree USN cruisers get at tier 8), but the "normal" AP shells seen at tier 7.
-
oh no, never. But that is also for personal reasons, Atago was my 1st ever premium, in the days when I had trouble finding the left mouse button. It is close to my heart. Also Atago has many party tricks, and is quite a lot of fun. I just don't think Cheshire is as bad as her reputation, formidable AA (seriously evil), solid HE dmg dealer, 1st class heal, are not to be dismissed. But she pays heavily for these things, suffering from horrible armour layout, poor handling, huge citadel, and well, not very exciting gameplay.
