I kinda feel sorry sometimes for the CMs. Only suggestion I could make would be for the game server & client to implement /etc/nologin that Unix servers use to restrict access during upgrades... System administrator, root user, creates the text file /etc/nologin containing a message "System down for maintenance. Try again at 11:00 UTC" Now normal users will not be able to login, but see the message contained in /etc/nologin When the system has been upgraded, sys admin removes /etc/nologin Normal users can then login WoWS could implement this with a HTML file on the server., eg the forum banner notice. Installing the server patch creates this file. If someone tries to start WoWS while it exists, the server tells the game client to fetch this page and uses the embedded browser to display with an "EXIT GAME" button. When the server patch has been installed the HTML file is removed to indicate the game is ready to play.

Further Ship+Commander Enhancements Ideas To Reduce That "End-Game" Feeling
NewHorizons_1 replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, giving veterans combat buffs wouldn't have been fair for newer players. Problem with that is, do veteran players need an economic bonus? They're already probably sitting on shed loads of credits, hence expensive to run T11. I guess a FreeXP bonus could be useful to speed up RB grinds though. -
For Heaven's sake Wargaming - fix the AI in Co-op……It needs to be different from PvP modes!

For a minute I thought this was going to be a critique of players in random matches. But, yeah. The bots buggering off to the other side of the map is annoying. Converse can be true to. I was in Atlanta yesterday and spawned with a Cossack & Pommern. The Pommern was one of the infamous potatoes** that abandons a flank to go and eat glue in the centre of the map. Me and the Cossack then got swamped by extra bots, so it was 4 or 5 against two. ** The Pommern isn't actually a badly coded bot, it typed " kill em " in chat. -

Latest T10 addition to the fleet, the (very) heavy French cruiser, Marseilles docked at ... Marseilles. The grind through the new French cruisers was pleasantly surprising, as initially I didn't get along with T8 Cherbourg, mainly the slooow reload. But with a bit of practice, and adjusting my game play they can be quite rewarding - that AP does hit hard on heavily armoured targets. This was the result of her maiden voyage, in co-op. -
The server didn't let me in and I got 6 extra battles penalty to play in ONLY CO-OP!

New personal damage record, in co-op, for Napoli. Our poor Shimakaze got nuked by the Nakhimov before he had a chance to do anything. The second rocket strike blew him out of the water - it was NOT a detonation. My secondaries and a good shot from the GK took out the bot Shimakaze. Unfortanely, it did get its torps launched but I was bow in and expected them. Missed all but one which hit me on the bow. So now it was up to me to fulfil the role from our missing torp boat. Did a drive-by on the Puerto Rico and hit it with torps and an AP salvo, secondaries finished it off. Then a hard turn** and another drive by on the Conq, torps and AP as before. But this time, circle-strafe and finish off with main guns. Then time to avenge our Shima and go for the CV. Thankfully, the recent change to bot CV AI meant it charged the centre of the map and presented a fairly broad target to me who was on the West flank - hence most of the citadel hits. This match also got me +2 karma. ** Double rudder shift build means my Napoli handles like a Ferrari Oh, and yay! Pic uploads now work. -
Probably a WG conspiracy to get you to play subs & CVs. Once your karma reaches zero, then why the hell not. You've got nothing else to lose.

That explains the potatoes in Pommerns & Agir you get in co-op. Start match Sail to centre of map At this point probably ALT-TAB'd out elsewhere. Engage bots at point blank range so that you're an obvious torp target Let secondaries do something Die Appear at bottom of score board -
Do Super ships count as T10´s when its anniversary?
NewHorizons_1 replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
There's usually some T11 specific missions throughout the year though. In the past it's been an SC, doubloons. Currently it's a small amount of steel. -
Granites?? Pomegranates?? Grenades?? OK, you'll have to help us out here. Not sure what a ship grenade actually is. Depth charge?

I could see it happening to a T6 CV in co-op as there's several differences to random matches. Short match time, <5min matches are common. So not much time for CVs to launch many squadrons Not much time between AA mounts being destroyed by HE and the bot ship being sunk. So it's either full health AA fire-power or no target for the CV. Bots often cluster together so you've got overlapping AA. DefAA is more widespread and the bots do use it as you can see red AA tracers from them. Bots have stock equipment & consumables. So many bot ships have default DefAA whereas many players swap it for hydro. That coupled with overlapping AA could be problematic, especially when the CV is +2 uptiered. -

Moving a CV doesn't matter. Several months ago, WG introduced an inactivity check for CVs which means they have to do damage with their aircraft ordnance. There's been a couple of cases where CV players got caught out Someone farming spotting damage for a mission Graf Zepp player farming secondary hits. So he actually did damage, just not with his planes. -

If this deters CV players from co-op, then I'm all for it! But yeah, this could actually be an issue for CV players. Co-op matches don't really last long enough for CVs to do a great deal. So losing what little XP & credits they earn could be quite harsh for them. -

I must admit I'm surprised at the amount of static the notifications are getting. If you're in a battle and it's started and you've ALT-TAB'd elsewhere, then a notification is fine as a reminder to support you're team mates. FWIW : I'll ALT-TAB while waiting in a queue, but never in battle while I'm alive. -

Blinks orange at match start for me on Windows 10. -
WG have done their best to not make it hard.
-
Yup, that seems to be the calculation WG has made. Veteran players have bought everything and it's a law of diminishing returns on how much they can be tempted to spend : New premium ships, dockyard boosters basically. Maybe early access whaling. Meanwhile, new players (who may not have realized the issues with the game) think it's great and are willing to spend some money on it and have plenty of new shiny goodies in the premium shop to splurge on. What WG are losing out on are players in the middle like me - those that have been around a while, and still have plenty of premium ships they could buy but have closed their wallets due to bad game development decisions.
