  1. "Support" carriers are a real thing, they arent just called that. They also really dont work in the game because unsurprising they were meant as support, take for example the Battle of Leyte Gulf were the Taffy 3 carriers planes were armed to support the Marine landing with a loadout that was meant to be used against infantry and bunkers, not ships (and they still takeoff and fought the Japanese ships). Likewise in the Atlantic they were equipped with ASW to hunt U-Boats, not to fight anything else really ... just patrol for submarines and drop depth charges or rockets. A overspecialized ship in this game ceases to function properly the moment there is no enemies it was designed to counter, the game is not reality were something like the Wasp-class LHD makes complete sense but in the game against ships designed to fight ships, its of dubious use. Not to say since this is Wargaming and their "historical accuracy" only goes as far as they can be arsed, I also really dont like when they try to pass their BS as fact such as FR25 that they claim its Guépard when in fact it was Volta, a Mogador-class. They would likely try to pass out the Essex-class as "support carriers" or other similar dumb sh ...
  2. What really changed was ... the same old, more ships and thats it. There are no new maps (Soon™), no new operations ... just the same old, same old, the rest is not something that changed as submarines have in development hell constant testing, the rest is not relevant to the game or part of the already existing cycle.

    Gunboats vs Torpboats

    1) Air detection ranges are much smaller that surface detection. Arguments about smoke are invalid since smoke itself doesnt have detection ranges (only render) and planes and surface ships can see smoke. AA is something anyone playing a DD should turn off unless its one of the select DDs that have cruiser level AA as only thing you do is increase your detection range. 2)No, to start subs are slower and they suffer what can be called "the totally balanced AWS air strike because there is so much skill on guessing the general direction of were to send a area of effect damage attack and this is before we go about torpedoes ... even a full spread hit of the non-guided of U-2501 will not kill a battleship, on the other hand getting a full spread of Harugumo will kill a battleship or be closed enough and Harugumo is a light cruiser without a citadel and only one launcher. 3)I am sorry if I dont have any pity towards "launch 20km torps in hopes it hit something" gameplay, not to say there is nothing passive about that ... you play your concealment, you keep away from radar distance and you ruin any chance of ships making a push since if they try, its simply a case of launching a Wall Of Skill and remind players why is TVIII-X is passive to begin.

Italian tech line DD in PvE

Well I played Aviere on Aegis and what I can tell is they are fast, maneuverable, the turrets have a good turning rate (they arent fast but not glacial) and the torpedoes have a decent reload with 10km but that kinda is it, gun range is too short , smoke duration is too short and the torpedoes arent very fast they dont deal much damage. On co-op you just YOLO because nothing else is going to work, the guns simply lack range to smoke farming and that is if smoke lasted long enough (it doesnt) and on Aegis I ended up having to play as a pan-european torpedo boat since nothing else works.
  5. And I keep in mind the cost of a Tier 6/7 ship that comes with ... you guess it, a permanent cammo. Also excuse me for saying this but do you people actually learn anything? Salem is one of the oldest Premium T10 and originally her permanent cammo was worst that Des Moines cammo in economical terms, sure that got changed later but when the exact same mistakes are committed over and over and over one must wonder ...

Subs are making this game unpleasant

Being ping does nothing outside guiding torpedoes ... there is no reason to use DCP just because you have been pinged, this is something people should already had learned since what a semi-competent sub player did was ping, wait for DCP to activate and if not, launch 1-2 torpedoes so the target activates DCP and then just when it goes into cooldown launch everything. Its different now as guided torpedoes lose guidance at around 1-2 km and dont deal as much damage, if you use DCP just because you are pinged do you also use DCP every time there is a fire? I dont like the argument that DCP is overtaxed because someone doesnt know when to use DCP, something that playing Russian BBs will teach you (or not). I actually prefered that submarines worked as they were employed in reality, to serve as advanced scouts against enemy fleets even if planes and then radar make then somewhat obsolete in that role (thats why IJN put planes on then as USN put radar and so did the KM) but this would be a conversation about spotting in general without WOWS rather basic and simplistic "one-size-fits-all" approach.

Subs are making this game unpleasant

I mean they wont be giving a cleanse that have a 100% uptime, even CVs auto doesnt give then that. Subs at best are crappy DDs because they arent fast to disengage, also the whole ping mechanic exists because WG wants submarines to attack other submarines since if you remove then they simply are unable to fight then, besides they were already been given "dumb" torpedoes anyway so question comes to why exactly are "fires torpedoes out of detection range" a problem depending only on class? Eventually we come to the question, are submarines a problem or are submarines the problem?

Subs are making this game unpleasant

They also deal no damage but details. I can see it both sides, bots were at times monsters because they charged in, ping, launched all available torps and even if you clear the ping and dodge then, they would keep pinging and launching torps ... when they did that. But bots have no self preservation, players do and dont go ping like crazy because all it does is alert their existence and WG handed ASW strikes (that only require basic knowledge of how to aim) like candy so I wonder in what situation that is a problem because even if you are pinged then what? torpedoes lose guidance at a certain distance from target and a maneuvering moving ship have about the same chances of dodging then as they have of other torpedoes. In the same situation were they are a "problem" (that being parked behind cover) subs already have a much better weapon, unguided torpedoes that give no more warning that regular torpedoes.

Subs are making this game unpleasant

To start you can outrun then, plus unlike your 350º ASW subs dont have 360º torpedo tube arcs ... heck they are less that most destroyer torpedo tube arcs. Can a sub be "OP" against the parked behind a island meta? of course but this is what CVs and subs should do to begin, to force ships into maneuvering instead of playing the game like its CoD but we have people that come from WoT were that is kinda of a expected tactic (since historically tanks didnt shoot on the move until the 50's) and people that are too used to cover shooters to want to get out of their comfort zone. In fact one thing that really pisses me off is ships that have ASW weapons (depth charges) are WORST at it that ships that DONT have ASW weapons because they get AWS planes instead, right now at best subs are shitty DDs, as much people love to use the term counterplay they sure as well want immunity since I am not a fan of DCP but at the same time ships shouldnt be invulnerable to acoustic torpedoes.
  10. I beaten W10, I am just going slowly ... SP is less of a issue besides when auto selection goes derp. Besides San Diego and Warspite retrofits are expensive and I kinda might done then in almost in one go, Warpite just needs her skill as San Diego I am waiting for either build or exchange (or I actually oath someone instead of dragging my feet) to do her modernization and then skill.
  11. Meanwhile I weep with San Diego retrofit costs (she still isnt fully retofitted, lacking Modernization and Skill unlock) ...
  12. You mean one of the worst ideas they come up, its so bad even in Azur Lane its a utterly useless weapon.
  13. Well I now have all the event ships ... Gloucester and Pompeo Magno map dropped (kinda weird farming SP1).
  14. So you are saying we should let a screeching minority to run everything? Should we run the world like Twitter?
  15. I got Lumbering on my first 10x pull and then Imperio and Trieste on my second 10x pull and then I stop because Pompeo is store/map drop. I have Shangri-la for a while now, dont recall when I pull her (I suspect Shimmering Blue) but she been on Limited Banner pool for a while now.
  16. This is a bad idea in so many levels. But the biggest one is, XP is awarded in damage so ... do I want to play a class that strictly benefits everyone else besides me and be slapped with a credit loss bill?

    So....Raptor and its bugs.....

    1. Untrue You mention Narai that were players often keep in formation because either they got damaged and its free healing or because they arent fast, Narai transports had issues but for quite a while they stay in formation. But more damning is that you START in formation with the transports in Narai and they dont go insane, even when they get in the harbor were I would suspect they would run aground or general nuts ... and they do actually, the ENEMY transports that no longer understand how to get out of the small port, there are other general failures (like the starting red DD that appears to forgotten that it have torps) that points something is wrong with Operations AI. 2. Operation AI was more scripted, it often worked but its out of their chain in some areas ... red transports in Narai, friendly bots in Raptor as well other weirdness (DD arent using torps, like Campbeltown that was a rather nastly surprise but now its a gunboat or something, I think I even seen transports sinking it without player assistance), I suspect that WG just applied the changes and used players as beta testers again and considering their general attitude towards non-PvP activities of disdain I suspect this will remain a very low priority for then.

    Many have gone

I used to bring Massa in coop but when 90% of the time the MM just downtiers me and I have to play with BBs that go 30kts its kinda useless, its wierd because coop Massa was hilarious fun and now its meh because NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Secondaries have to be nerfed because muh DD survivability ... We shouldnt have automatic weapons (except AA that should kill all the planes) ... Then again COOP is all kind of screwed up after the great Skills rebork so ...
  19. Oh I know, I just farm for the SR and oil cap is great for that ... Not much luck this event, I got just 2 Z2s so far and ... I would say 20 Z1s because it feels like that but I not been keeping score but it certainly feels 20+ ...
  20. I dont know, I just got pass 700 cubes but still very much on PANIC mode as the ultra rare fluff remains ever out of sight but always in my mind. Also even if small there is still a points store and SP and EX maps, Formidable seems to be there more because filler (why not VV or another Italian ship ... I am starting to wonder about Formidable true allegiances) that anything and amusing enough she always been on Italian ship banners, never her own faction, in a way its less ships I need to roll for anyway (just all of then but 3 vs 4/5) and seems going to be more like collab events that are easier that normal events and since I am not those people at 90% collection with 1200 cubes this is better for me, just I kinda want some break and since Shimmering Blue rerun is the closest I get to having one ... well ...

    Petro needs to go

Petro have stupid guns, serious ... that pen is downright stupid.
  22. By many others they mean 2 others, Trieste and Pompeo Magno. Also Formidable crashed (again) into the banner. Also its a prelude so :shrugs shoulders: ...
  23. Yes, I dont doubt there were some plans because it was easier to convert a battleship that make Regia Marina and Regia Aeronautica. cooperate but I serious doubt they considered using V-1s (they might considered it as a anti-ship weapon but they were grossly overestimating their accuracy) on then and even less they were going to use it as a mobile launch site against Great Britain because ... well, there is The Rock in the way and good luck getting pass it. I dont mind, its a bit weird since they still have Sparviero but OK, they still have 2 major ships left (Roma and Sparviero), a bunch of cruisers and destroyers for future events and they are better off that Iris/Vichya that pretty much only have Clemenceau and Joffre left.
