    Anchorage Dockyard Directives

What kind of fleet do you have? If you know how to play, even in Co-op, in high tier ships you should be able to get each directive done (so at least 6 missions) within 30-40 missions.

I played PTS, and though in general the idea behind the missions would be similar, the numbers definitely are not. One or two good games in T10 Randoms would get you ALL the missions completed from any given directive.

General conclusion: - VERY doable THOSE WITH A SMALL FLEET MIGHT WANT TO PLAN AHEAD TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE THE T5 SHIPS FOR DIRECTIVES 4, 5 AND 6. THOSE CAN EASILY BE GRINDED IN THE MEAN TIME.

    Ranked matches is unbalanced

You are setting up a massive strawman here. - In ranked sprint you are 3 vs 3. That means that each player will have a massive impact on a match - the effect one player has on a game (good or bad) is MUCH bigger in 3 vs 3 ranked sprint vs 10 vs 10 ranked let alone 12 vs 12 randoms. So yeah in 3 vs 3 ranked massively prefer a player in a - in theory - weaker ship that he/she knows how to play than in a supposedly good ship that he/she has no clue how to handle. - Ranked matches are supposed to be about skill differences (in which experience plays a role). But they also imply that you make the situation for you AND your team mates as advantageous as possible. That means that if you take a ship into ranked that you have no clue how to play you are a much bigger liability to your team then when you take a 'lesser' ship that you do know how to play. You turn from a liability into an asset. Frankly, I think if you do not see the difference between ranked and ordinary randoms, and the potential then there is a problem. To look at my own situation - I personally just got Georgia, Pommern and Aegir, and a Jean Bart, Alaska and a Donskoi in port. I am NOT a good player (definitely not by Win Rate as it stands now). I have hardly played any T9 battles (5 over two servers). To the point that I wondered whether I should even start out in ranked because odds are / were I would have to be carried by my team mates. On EU I opted for Georgia and Pommern - and I quickly decided that on EU I would only play Pommern, because playing Georgia was a disaster for me, and thus for my team-mates - while my skill level and style of play did suit Pommern best. In the end, there were a number of games where I was able to carry the team outright. I could have chosen to continue to play Pommern or the cruisers, but then I would have deliberately been a drag on my team mates. On NA JB was my only choice - but somehow my play style worked for the use of JB there, with again me being able to carry the team regularly. On both servers there were clearly games where people played ships they had NO CLUE how to play in the Ranked Sprint format, practically turning this game into a 2 vs 3 rather than a 3 vs 3. Different debate to whether have players play "the best ships" vs the "ships they know how to use best". The bolded that is something that is a common part THROUGHOUT the game. Think of the Swiersky campaign for one, or generally the missions and directives that are generally MUCH easier to achieve in higher tiers than in lower tiers, to the point where the lower tiers can end up in trouble because they do not have the time needed to complete the game. I disagree with your assumption about the distribution of quality. It might hold true over a large number of games, but not necessarily over a small sample of games (which is true for ranked sprint). A good enough lower tier player can get a T9 coal ship quite easily within 3 to 6 months. In that same time he/she can actually EASILY grind his way to AT LEAST a T9 ship (if he/she goes down a tier). I do not think I have EVER said that players should be banned from trying ranked per se. If you have the ships, you are free to try. I disagree with there having to be rentals though.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Co-op playing Gnevny, to muss-rush to Khaba (considering the rumours Khaba is to be taken out). Spawned on the flank on Two Brothers with a Pensacola, enemy was the Benson and the Mainz. Fuso moved to back them up. Missed my first set of torps on the Benson, but those did not miss the Mainz (couldn't get the final kill on her though). Was then able to rush the Fuso, and finally do some damage on the CV.

    It’s the weekend....

Happens to me quite regularly when I have been rotating a limited amount of ships (I tend to do so with different classess to make it even more fun)....

    It’s the weekend....

I know, sometimes spotting mechanics can be really weird. That said, there can be numerous factors outside of your direct control that can get you and do get me killed regularly. - Firing bloom after shooting your gun, which immediately lights you up for the enemy. - You getting spotted by an enemy DD or enemy ship (for instance through gaps in islands). - You losing spotting because somebody disappears behind an island, smokes up, or gets killed. - Modifications to the ships' base concealment values (modules as well as the Concealment Expert skill). - Some ships just have weird concealment values. All of this I assume you already know very well.

    It’s the weekend....

Sure - but even then one can try and mitigate the risks involved. And I assume @Karasu_Hidesuke tries to do so, and when it [moving to a chosen position on a map] doesn't work tries to identify why it did not work, and what he could do better next time. You know, the difference between straight lining, zig-zagging, using island cover, etc. And I know you sometimes have bad luck as well. What I am talking about - for example - is me siiting nose in in a JB, seeing a Iowa or Georgia move out from behind an island almost broadside at my 2 o'clock, getting chunked by me, move behind an island, continue his course sailing full broadside at my 12 o'clock, getting citadelled, moving behind an island, and emerging from it STILL full broadside at my 9 o'clock and getting killed by a few more citadels. In the mean time, I have barely moved my JB out of that same position.
  12. Dutchy_2019

    It’s the weekend....

True. I have that issue quiet a bit in Randoms as well. But I was this a whole lot in Ranked Sprint - if you were a bit patient, you could just predict the broadside coming up, and preturn your turrets or your ship. In Randoms that is a whole lot harder to do and to avoid - and I regularly end up broadside there as well. I guess the only remedy for that is learn to pay proper attention to the mini-map. And yeah, the ships disappearing as soon as you turn your guns towards them is something you cannot avoid (and yeah, it irritates me regularly as well). Personally I have played and play a lot of Co-op. What I find: - Broadsides can get punished heavily by bots. - I use it to just take long range shots - JB max range, spotter plane Mass, as well as lower and mid tier longer range ships: Kongo, Fuso, Myogi. I also find I tend to have a fairly quick aim.

    It’s the weekend....

In randoms or in ranked sprint? My biggest lesson for ranked sprint: be patient. nose in, and work from there. Now I have to try and learn to apply that to Randoms. And in randoms that is far more difficult to avoid. Also, I assume you try to learn from those mistakes, don't you?

    It’s the weekend....

I have seen plenty of those during the week as well. This attitude is also infecting Co-op more and more. Seemed that for some BB players in ranked in some ships there were only two consistent options: Park behind an island and refuse to fire (and if in a radar ship, also refuse to use radar when there is a DD around - worst offender a Krohnstadt!), or come out broadside. Great if it was your enemy, worse when it was your team mate.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Today ranked out on NA server, going from Rank 3 to ranking out. All in Jean Bart, love the ship. Again, ran into some very nice and co-operative teammates, and in some that helped you lose the game. Very noticable was the popularity of DD's (at least morning NA time). Unfortunately there seemed to be few who knew how to play them in 3 vs 3. Final game ranking out was Iowa, Alaska and Yugumo vs Seattle, Yugumo and me in JB. Fun game, well fought by both sides, and with two teams that were willing to brawl, but played played it smart. Proudest moment personally - being able to rush down a Jutland in order to win the game.

    Free Captain Skill Point Redistribution?

It would be nice to have them hand out a free Captain reset once a year, over say a 2 week period.
  17. Dutchy_2019

    It’s the weekend....

Personally, I am getting fed up with the weekend player argument. - Due to the Covid situation, quite a few weekend players are not necessarily weekend players anymore, as well as having a new players coming in. - I see plenty of idiotic stuff going on in my own games as well as on streams with people playing the game. I played Narai today on EU to grind me some Commander XP to train a second 19 point captain. - Some of the worst players I saw today are - if they are weekend players - people who must play pretty much 24/7 on weekends (close to 14k games). And those were players where everyone was wondering what that individual was actually doing. People who less than 3 minutes into Narai by the way they play the game make it clear that this match will be tough to win. And as far as ships go, the ships that have been mentioned: - Odin, fairly easy to get in the last Dockyard event. - Georgia - again, with the amount of coal one can quickly hoard (as well as some luck) - easy to get. And that assumes that these individuals did not simply buy the ship. - Pommern - dumb luck in the crate gambling, again with an event that was fairly easy to complete. And that assumes that these individuals did not simply buy the ship. All of these ships are easy to get, but not necessarily easy to play (well) or have to suit your strengths - and easy to get playing predominantly Co-op. And in Co-op you can already get really far by simply Yolo-rushing.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Started to play Ranked Sprint on NA server. I only have Jean Bart at T9 there. Completely different playstyle to Pommern, but great fun. Got to Rank 3 today, in 18 battles. Ran into a few teams that were fun to play with (and actually worked well together) - at the same time starting to grow a healthy dislike for Iowa players. Also, a whole lot of Georgia players that seem to think that their broadside is not vulnerable to JB shells. Also, final result is getting my 17 pt JB captain up to 19 points. The top game might not have been the highest damage game I played, but I think it was tactically one of my best games.

    Help with silver credits

Yeah, I am trying to do the same (only use camos and signals sparingly) as much as possible; it forces me to take my time getting up the Tech Trees, and to learn to play the game properly. Today and yesterday I have only been using camos and flags to get myself some 19pt captains, or Free XP for a ship (that is, in Ranked Sprint and in Operations).
  20. Dutchy_2019

    Help with silver credits

To add, and this sounds a bit harsh, but it is not meant as such, a statement I heared: "If you are constantly running out of credits when playing higher tiers or do not have the credits to get a ship further up the line, you are simply not good enough." Although I might not be willing to go that far, I think that there is a valuable nugget of truth in there.
  21. Dutchy_2019

    Help with silver credits

If you want to spend a limited amount of money: Get Premium time. Generally for free Generally, do NOT rush up lines. On NA I do have the luck of having a JB and Mainz sailing around, but I also have free lower tier premiums. Playing those (actually much in Co-op) I sit at something like 60 million credits there. If you pace yourself (basically use the free port slots, and not buy up tonse of them, you are actually forced to play slowly, and you wil earn credits accordingly. Playing slow will also help you to train captains - which will help you in the long runs as well, as you will probably have your 19 pt captain earlier.
  22. Dutchy_2019

    Remove Detonation from Ranked Battles?

Keep detonations in the game. It is part of the game.
  23. Dutchy_2019

    Camo`s - Or lack of

Another reason that popped into my head: Force people to actually choose what they want to do with their coal. - Buy ships - Buy camouflages - Buy captains Note how I get the feeling that (a) the earning of flags and other in game reasources has increased (has been pushed as a way to earn resources), for instance in daily missions, or in recent events (the dockyards with their coal), and (b) everybody and their mother is telling new players to get daily resource containers. As a result, I think people are racking up coal (and Free XP) at an increased pace. I spent all my coal and Free XP two weeks ago (at most) on Georgia and Aegir. Currently - having played ranked sprint today, a little more randoms than normal and something like 10 games of Narai - I am again sitting on 44k coal and 190k Free XP. And I have NOT made an excessive use of camouflages, and only decked out my ship in all possible flags in the Narai games (to get commander XP, and myself a 2nd 19pt captain).
  24. Dutchy_2019

    Just Bad Luck, or what...

CV vs rest of the ships imbalance, combined with seal clubbers in CV's. Little you can do about it other than praying the enemy CV leaves you alone ASAP. I would say try and get to T5 along different ship- and nation-lines, and stay there for a while. Things will probably be difficult for some time even at that tier, but there you can learn the game, you can participate in directives and missions, and generally the CV vs rest of the ships imbalance is less of a problem.
  25. Pommern on EU (with the reward for the 3rd directive). Nothing on NA. The premium containers netted me Mainz and Hipper (I already had Z-39 in my port), as well as the Free XP to get me Aegir.
