Yes and no: As IIRC Verblonde showed in another thread, WG seems to pull premium ships once there are about 37k-40k of them around; a threshold apparently met by Smolensk, JB, Georgia, Alaska, Massachussetts, Thunderer. Of course they can then leverage that in things like the Black Friday sales.

Pinnacle of Boredom: Watching Competitive Play
Dutchy_2019 replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
Yup - so effective that for top tier clans the game becomes even more boring because there are only a few viable ships. See one of the last clan battles were there was a Venezia overload, or where there was a Graf Spee overload. And the only task CV's for those top clans actually had was to spot, not to kill or force people out, resulting in even more static game play. Also, when suddenly dumped into Randoms, CV's introduce an element where they are completely broken. What might be good for one type of environment (being Randoms (12 v 12), Ranked (7 v 7), Clan Battles, KOTS, Ranked Sprint (3 v 3)) might not work at all or actually be disastrous in other environments. There are ships that work really well in one environment, and are mêêh at best in others. -
How do you like upcoming changes to "Ranked" battles (i.e. "New Concept")?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I can see where you are coming from, and let it be clear that I not necessarily disagree with the underlying sentiment. Introduce 4 leagues instead of 3 since potatoes can still fail their way to silver very easily: IMHO not necessarily a problem, but to some extent it means that league 4 is more or less a qualifier. Only allow players with at least 1000 battles above tier 5 to enter (possibly randoms only): I have a few issues with this; (1) if I were a player who tries to progress the 'take it slow and learn' way, I would get very frustrated by the fact that I am NOT being rewarded for taking it slowly. For many players who do not have multiple hours a day to spend on the game, it would come down of at least 1, if not 2 years of playing the game to even be allowed in to the ranked tournament. Realize that it is quite a few of those players who actually are at the core of keeping this game afloat in the first place. (2) if I were getting frustrated by (1), I would simply potato (or worse) my way in T6 ships to meet the conditions to be able to enter the ranked battles in the first place. Which leads to me as a player not learning anything, and an even more frustrating experience of players in T6+ who whill be flooded by players who just want to potato their way there to reach the 1000 game threshold. (3) The assumption is that players with that amount of experience (1000+ games in T6+) are automatically way better (team)players than players who do not meet that threshold. IMHO that is an absolutely erroneous assumption, based on what I have seen in games myself, observed on twitch streams, and based on comments on these forums itself. Place players in the corresponding leagues if they're unranked (or rather one league lower...can't exactly allow people to skip all the way to the top league) according to their random battle stats above tier 5 relative to other players. (Or give them some starting points). Or if it turns out that this doesn't work, everyone can just start at the lowest league. Isn't that pretty much what this three tiered ranked tournament with qualifiers tries to achieve? I think your idea of promotion / demotion is worth consideration. I think your idea of a new way to determine progress is also worthy of consideration. -
Personally I would say get More Resources - Coal can be used on coal ships of various tiers - Coal can be used on special commanders If you do not get a full coal container, you can still get: - Signals - Free XP Also, More Resources containers still occasionally drop Super Containers.

Mission- say what??? No Scharnhost B allowed or what?
Dutchy_2019 replied to FizzlePopBerryTwist's topic in General Discussion
Most of the time for regular missions, if the 'original' is included, they also include the 'B' version in missions. The mission for doubloons - if you already have the 'non-B' ship is a notable exception, and I saw it as somewhat of a compensation for those who have had the original in port. -
Yup, it is NOT a mm issue. In Co-op you have to have a game in 30s, otherwise the rest will be filled up with bots. Tip 1: ALWAYS pay attention to MM, even in Co-op, and look at where the human players are located. Tip 2: PRIORITIZE targets immediately. Tip 3: Play slightly more passive. Tip 4: Minimap! Minimap! Minimap! Tip 5: ANGLE your ship, and use islands. Try to win your flank first, and work from there. And yeah, you will have the occasional loss (though if you leave the game immediately after you die, you might end up with a draw). You can have very good games with only or almost only bot teammates; in fact, many of my high(er)scores in Co-op have come in those games. My high scores like 193k Ostergötland, 305k JB (on NA), 191k Massa B, 230k Pommern have all been in games where I was the only one, or only one of 3 human players on the team.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Well, lucky you. Admittedly with many fewer games, below is an illustration for me why - admittedly in low tiers, as I am grinding my way up to level all lines to T5 - am not starting to care about WR anymore. Taken from NA and EU. With the amount of bots in there, as well as some of the utter stupidity displayed (yolo at the very start) and consistent double CV, I have decided to look at other stats if I want to look at whether I am improving or not - like PR and damage done, or where I end up in the team. My current goal is to try and keep all stats but WinRate "Green"' or better and end up top 3 or top 5 on the team. Looking at WinRate alone is simply getting frustrating. -
[Poll] How many ships do you have in your harbor right now?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
To some extent you are right but: - If you have played for a very long time, many a premium might have dropped from Super Containers and other reward crates. As said, on NA, only 2 out of 20 Premiums on there I actually fully bought. With some money spent on Odin and Anchorage - so 16 of them I got completely for free. - Coal, Steel, Research Bureau and Free XP ships also count as premium. - Some ships might have moved to Premium over time (like Moskva) - Over such a long period of time, you might have gotten enough doubloons for free to be able to buy ships. - Premium ships from events, that on occasion can quickly stack up (depending on the amount you play) - For instance, the last ARP event could net you 5 Premium Ships through easy missions. - The occasional win in giveaways on streams or elsewhere (where I have been quite lucky so far on both accounts). - Dumb luck with loot crates. That said, to a considerable extent this forum is not wholly representative of the community. That said, that does not automatically mean you can completely ignore common forum opinion as irrelevant or not indicative at all of wider community opinion as soom claim. -
My noobish notion of ship candidates: - Mid- to high tier British BB (Thunderer if you have it)? - Smolensk (if you have it). - Friesland (if you have it). That said, this seems to be a 'luck of the draw' achievement for various reasons mentioned above. Though somehow I have managed to get one (of two) in the Kirov.

Yeah, Enjoy yourself first and foremost. If you want to play Co-op and ops (mostly) this IMHO is a fine way to grind and progress. Personally I would never use Free XP for anything else than getting Free XP ships except in extremely dire emergencies. If you want to play PvP, start low tier again and take it slow, as that game is COMPLETELY different from Co-op, or even Ops. For Graf Spee: You can get it using doubloons through the armory (make use of the 25% off coupon!) eventually. If you like French ships, have a serious look at the upcoming campaign for the Strasbourg; it should be a free Premium when the campaign is released (NOTE: this is a temporary campaign) ship which could help tremendously in earning credits, training captains and could well be of nice use in Operations (Narai). Also have look at which (French) ships you might be able to get through the armory for resources.

[Poll] How many ships do you have in your harbor right now?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
On EU: 191 ships (plus a few now out of port due to line reset) in total 80 Premium ships (bought, earned out of containers or through missions, dropped out of bought containers. won in giveaways and bought for coal and Free XP) 31 Free slots On NA: 56 Ships in total. 20 Premium ships (2 of them (T-61 and Scharnhorst) bought for money/doubloons - the rest out of earned containers or missions, winnings in giveaways and bought for Coal or Free XP). 9 Free slots. The number of silver ships will be expanding, as I am currently leveling all Tech Trees to T5, and still have some to go. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Randoms: Game crashed upon ending the game, but my one and only game 66k, 4 kills in a Valkyrie (including a CV in a double CV game) was nice. Got me enough XP - 7947 XP - (with basic economic flags and anniversary or subscriber camo) to get (a) all the upgrades and (b) get the Wakeful. Which is a shame, since this might have been an 1800+ Base XP game (doing backwards calculations) -
What is your current success with "Always Courageous Collection" (ultimate prize is USN Tier V BB "Oklahoma")?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well, I know I will be able to get Oklahoma on both servers, but I will need the containers from the last set of missions (which become available on Tuesday). -
Divisions (Is it becoming a necessity?)
Dutchy_2019 replied to Skyee_8492's topic in General Discussion
Although far less experienced that you are, I am more or less doing the same on NA now. Currently leveling up at T5, and work from there. Over the last couiple of days (week), my winrate has gone up and down, while most other numbers have generally stayed decent to good (often green or better). Yes, you are part of a team, but if you are already on your flank in a minority, and next thing you know, the other flank has completely disappeared.... So yeah, I have run into my first Kraken in a loss. Especially lower and mid tiers, with the introduction of the bots you are: - At the mercy of bot stupidity, where that alone can suddenly have your team 4 ships down. - At the mercy of the ability of the - generally - two CV's on either side. - At the mercy of on what side the capable division ends up (at least based on ranked achieved tokens in the MM overview). -
Is it certain you will have to choose? Note that: - It will take 3 about 3 months before Alaska and Smaland will be removed. - Christmas is coming - IF you are willing to spend on camos and flags, it is feasible to grind the 1.5 million Free XP you would need to get both. Note that Narai (fully decked out in right camos and flags) can net you 30k Free XP per game. Or - in other words - in theory 50 Narai games should get you the required Free XP. With AT LEAST 3 cycles coming up, that means on average about 3 Narai games per day. Should be doable. And that does NOT take into account Free XP you might get through other means (like crates and missions) that you can get between now and then (say Resource Container and so on).

Who are you (or am I) to question the reasons why someone would buy this ship? Because that is what you are implicitly doing by making the above statements. Actually everyone who starts hurling abuse at a player for sailing this ship without having judged how he or she performs in game does so. a) a ship already in the game obtainable for free. b) a ship that is at the highest tier - allowing in theory someone with 0 battles experience jumping straight into T10 c) all of the above for £150 plus - which is virtually equivalent to 3x entire PC/Xbox/PS4 games. Stating the facts - which are more or less objectively true (you can get Yamato on its own for roughly 100 euros) - themselves does not make things elitist. The context in which they are placed, that is what can make comments elitist. And what you did fits that. ALL of these statements combined imply the assumption that there is NO good reason for someone to buy this ship, OTHER than jump straight into T10. And that is how quite a few players playing ARP Yamato are currently treated. NONE of the above points you made automatically mean that whoever sails ARP Yamato has no clue what he or she is doing. The whole context of these statements and these threads is suggestive of the fact that only noobs and incompetents would be stupid enough to buy these ships, and are not deserving to play them in randoms. We all know there are plenty of people playing T9 and T10 Premium and Tech Tree ships, Coal ships and Steel ships who have NO CLUE AT ALL how to play the game or play the game for the benefit of the team; some of them with thousands of games. As has been mentioned - and proven and complained about - it has become very easy to get into T10 nowadays. NOT playing T10 is almost a choice, rather than something enforced upon the players.

The real problem with the ARP Yamato (Unpopular opinion but it’s not the ship)
Dutchy_2019 replied to Rawthorm's topic in General Discussion
That is only part of the issue. A much bigger element: - People take this game way too seriously. - People (hiding behind online identities) decide to hurl abuse first, and only look and think later. - A whole lot of people hurling abuse at others for "being a noob" or being "pay to win" are - if they have not hidden their stats in the first place - people with LOUSY overall stats, often playing a very limited number of lines, and (irony of ironies) often have loads of premium ships among their most played. A selection of ships that either means they have been EXTREMELY lucky, or bought their way to the top. - Regularly the abuse hurlers are the ones to f*** up early, or hide behind island or at the A, J, 1 or 10 line all game, only to pop out on the end, and claim that (a) they saved the day (when the game turns into a win), or (b) the team is lousy. Unfortunately the very fact that the survive for 15 minutes by doing nothing means that they are almost guaranteed quite a bit of Base XP. You know the type: the top tier BB player that 15 minutes in still has 90% of his health left. Or the DD-player that has not spotted a single enemy ship. -
Maybe because people like the ship, and like the skin? Because following your line of argument - which is extremely elitist - that would mean that either (a) WG should only sell low tier ARP stuff, or (b) WG should ban certain people from buying SOME ARP stuff based on a very arbitrary standard. As said - ad nauseum by now - the ARP Yamato's so far are performing BETTER than the regular 'grind it out' Yamato's. Which should tell you enough about the state of things!

580 ARP Yamato already sold on EU server
Dutchy_2019 replied to UnterSeeBot's topic in General Discussion
Of course you can question his sanity. But the simple fact that it is feasible - even if said player is a much better than average player - is saying anough about the game. A new player - assuming he or she has the perseverence - can literally loose him or herself to a T10 ship within two or three weeks. -

Dutchy_2019 replied to Rawthorm's topic in General Discussion
As pointed out in another thread: the numbers indicate that the average ARP Yamato player contributes more to his or her team than the average Yamato player. I see what people are saying, but in many ways it is less and less born out by the numbers. -

Dutchy_2019 replied to UnterSeeBot's topic in General Discussion
Yup, the problem is NOT ARP Yamato. The problem is too many players playing high tiers while either NOT playing for the team to win, or not knowing how to play their ship, or both. An actualy problem is the (relative) ease with which one can progress to T10 . The fact that Flambass can get a reset back to T9 or T10 in 29 games (using best camos and max best flags), but nothing else; the fact that another player can grind the complete US BB line within a 24h stream, using a BRAND NEW account, and not paying a single penny (so in game rewards), and only get things kicked off by a WoWs referral link (which IIRC netted him some doubloons and a T6 Premium). The fact that bad - or rather non-team oriented play - is seriously rewarded over team play in the XP mechanism (as well as Ranked Battles) is a much bigger problem, since it rewards bad play. Also, not that those whales despised by quite a few are what keep this game going, and free or relatively cheap to play for the vast majority! -

Dutchy_2019 replied to Rawthorm's topic in General Discussion
I fully agree with most of it, and I am very sad to hear that what should have been fun became really frustrating. I cannot compare toxicity within this game with that of other games. But yeah, those reactions to her are inexcusable. What I find the most galling (or frustrating) is that regularly the most toxic people are people who themselves are not that good at the game, yet think they are - and are completely unwilling to listen to others in game who point out what could be improved upon. I fully expect the toxicity to this ship to change as soon as something new comes out; maybe Black Friday, otherwise with the arrival of Hizen. -

If I had had the money to spare, I probably would have gotten the ARP Yamato. I simply love the looks of most of these ships. Not sure how much I would play it in T10 Randoms right away. -

Dutchy_2019 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well, as things stand at the moment: For NA: Items collected: 11 Duplicates: 9 Containers I can still earn through base campaign missions: 11 Conclusion: As long as I complete the campaign, I will get the collection complete. For EU: Items collected: 12 Duplicates: 8 Containers I can still earn through base campaign missions: 11 Conclusion: As long as I complete the campaign, I will get the collection complete.
