What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
This occasionally happens to me as well. Generally I find that if I notice it in time, I tend to de pretty well. -
Losing your way into it, and using your Free XP. Or grind your way into it through Co-op.

My experience as a new(ish) player: Pommern: For me, good fun in Ranked Sprint and - based on that - presumably also in Brawls. I have not played her at all in Randoms - but then again, I rarely play T9 Randoms, as I generally feel I am not at that level yet. I really like her in Co-op for missions. Nice secondaries, OK guns (be aware of what you aim for), I like her manoeuvrability, and the torps are a nice plus when in close up fights. That said, if the enemy knows where to aim its AP, you can be chunked down hard. Georgia: I have only played a few games in her, and my skill set is not good enough to currently make her work for me in anything other than Co-op. When playing her, it is easy to underestimate how vulnerable she actually is. I did, and the ease by which I was able to blap Georgia’s in Ranked Sprint in both Pommern and Jean Bart (on EU an NA) makes me think many overestimate her tanking ability. As mentioned, it seems to me that her speed is an asset, but for many also is a detriment. My impression based on limited experience: Two ships with two completely different play styles, that can be used in different ways. Personally I would get Georgia, as she will be taken out of the game soon, and work towards getting Pommern over the summer, with the June coupon.

That is what they did last year. And we all know how that worked out. Also, if everyone would be having a serious go, they might end up with too many in the game (well over 40k).
-
I see your completely valid point. To me - thanks to who pointed it out - it is an early investment in doubloons to be used later in combination with the 25% coupon.

The difference between this year and last year: Last year there was nothing for casual players (even Gorizia took a lot of effort) Puerto Rico was even out of reach for many super hard core players, at least for free. The way it was set up, everyone NOT having serious time off was in trouble, even Super Hardcore players, simply because of the time when one could start completing directives, and when they had to be completed. This year: Strasbourg is doable for casual players. Hizen is doable for slightly more than casual players. The extra campaign is the reward for more than casual players.

I had not thought of that yet. Thanks for the tip!

I havo no idea whether true or not, but I have seen some players state that - with judicious use of camos and flags - the overall effort required to get the Unique Upgrades / Legendary Mods through the missions or the RB is not that different if you are clever in you line resets. That said, one major pain is the fact that the RB points for the modules now compete with RB points for ships.

JB is a good ship and fun boat. Arguably the only T9 I would actually spend money on.

So, How things are going in the bronze sprint?

Huh? Ranked stats do NOT count towards random stats anyway. -

There are also a number of CC’s on twitch, especially on NA, who do replay analysis. You send in replays, which are then analysed on twitch, space permitting. Preferrably not your top games, or with specifics to look at (did I do as good as I think I did). -

This is the kind of game you cannot win. That is why I personally have decided to play a limited amount of games in a row, and have decided to try and focus on my flank, and what I can do to improve. I know I have enough to learn there. For DD’s my focus now is learning to work with RPF. -

He is primarily a Twitch streamer. That is where he got his CC status from. -
Also, the majority of these missions is fairly easy to do, as you can repeat tasks and such. Especially if you do some advance planning on which ships to play. If you do not complete the missions in time, the only thing you miss out on are perma-camos and some Santa-themed captains. Nothing too serious to worry about.

This Bronze Sprint is the equivalent of the old Tier 11-20 in ranked. You know, the tier those who had ranked out the season before, or done well, did not start in. For me, ranked out in a day, 23 battles needed, all in DD (Harekaze) with 14 pt captain. I will not be able to play more until the next weekend, as I am away from home. I will stay in bronze for now as well, maybe try silver in week 6. -
Need recommendation for 2 Tr7-8 premium ships .

Thanks, I have corrected it. -

For DD, ones that I have been seeing pop up regularly: T-61 (The German T7 DD) and Cossack (T8). More unique in play style: Asashio (T8). -
Keep in mind that these are builds that work(ed) for him. And Flambass has a particular play style and the skill to pull it off. That said, his JB build seems to be working quite well for me.

With Massa being removed in about a month, I would say Massachussetts is almost a must. It is a good BB, often fun, has its unique play style. Personally I have to say I also like Scharnhorst, in its playstyle, but also for its use in Narai. But for half decent advise it would be nice to have a little more info: What classes do you like to play? What nations/lines? What ships are you good at? -
I missed the news about the extensions. And yeah, they will have a mountain of work to do with that.

IIRC Santa Container refund requests had to be filed on the 13th of December at the latest. If it involved roll backs, and for most the requests would have, that takes a lot of time. From the 18th onward, there were quite a few new lock down restrictions imposed in much of Europe (one of the reasons, if not the reason why the 24h Christmas stream was cancelled). This might also have made it more difficult to handle the requests, assuming the complete staff is actually healthy. From the 19th onward, much of Europe is in a 2 week Christmas break. The problem might actually be your credit card company, if you paid by credit card.
-
I cannot give you advise, but some of the things I also would take into consideration reading your post: You do not seem very enthousiastic about ANY of the ships, so why not save the coupon and save and hoard more of the coal. Especially since the coupon is valid until June. New coal ships could appear quite soon. Coal ships that might be more to your liking. If you get the lower tier ships, those ships cannot longer drop from (Super) Containers.

How is new Ranked? How do you like new format in actual play?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
This would completely punish actual team play because of how XP is calculated. As said, arguably the most team play game I had - me in DD + Bayard cleaning up 3 BBs + a DD - ended up with him getting 1st, with well over 2k XP and me ending up last because I did all the spotting and little damage (1 kill) smoked him up and harassed the enemy with torps. So I would LOOSE stars for playing the team game. With arguably the both of us winning the game for the team. This mechanism would encourage me-first play even more. -
You are completely correct.

Where did I excuse the fact that WG did not put up an explanation this year? And for the record, I only started playing the game in late 2019. And for the record, many of those screaming loudest about the Santa Crate mechanisms this year have been playing the game for years, by established fact or reasonable to assume based on number of games. Facts: - WG has changed nothing about the Santa Crate mechanics this year compared to previous years. - Everybody and their mother knows these are gambling boxes. - Santa Crates are no different from loot boxes in every other game. Fact, many of the CC’s regularly mention that, as far as Santa Crates and regular Super Containers they are at a massive advantage because of the premiums they already have in port. And I have seen Sone do so on many an occasion.
