People complain about MM, ROFL-stomps and the impact of CV's on the Randoms game. Apparently, on one of the official streams, the developers were asked how they determine the quality of matches, brought on by complaints about ROFL-stomps. The devs - who seemed to be caught out by the question - were asked about how they measure the quality of matches. And they replied that (one of the) most important indicator(s) was the length of the matches. Here CV's are definitely a problem, as the 'looking for the enemy CV' adds many minutes to a randoms game that is pretty much completely over already. It completely hides the ubiquitous ROFL-stomps. And according to WG data collection: Game lasts longer = NO ROFL-stomp. So your position is actually what we as a community do NOT need if we want WG use its collected data to get MM fixed and see a decrease in the number of ROFL-stomps.

Sure that is the purpose, but I have never seen something close to this. -

I witnessed this on a live stream. I just clipped the minimap. Lets reverse base seems to be a new approach to Standard Battle. -
You will get doubloons.
-
You should receive doubloons in compensation. You will get 9500 doubloons according to the article. The amount of doubloons is roughly the cost of a T7 BB (without Port Slot). https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/sales-and-events/premium-shop-0912/ You can obtain VII Strasbourg by completing the final mission of the "In Pursuit of Strasbourg" campaign, which will become available on January 11. However, if you purchase this French battleship right away, you'll be able to start completing the missions of the "Ships and Fates" campaign that require Strasbourg. This way, you'll have more time to collect all the campaign rewards, including ships with permanent camouflages, special Commanders, and Santa's Gift containers. If you complete the "In Pursuit of Strasbourg" campaign later on, you'll receive 9,500 doubloons as compensation for the ship, a Port slot, and the Winter Holiday permanent camouflage.

Next quick command to be added: “Can you please explain to me how the ‘shooting the thingy you have been spotting for the past 10 minutes’ actually works?”

Yours worst and best premium purchases of the 2020
Dutchy_2019 replied to ZaalKoris_vas_QwibQwib's topic in General Discussion
Note that that was for Free XP ships. There I have to choose between Alaska, Smaland, Nelson and Friesland. Between those, Nelson is for me the loser. -

I agree with you that the amount of points required for the final two steps is excessive. -
[POLL] What will be your Ranked League
Dutchy_2019 replied to RAYvenMP's topic in General Discussion
I will stay in bronze, at least for the next couple of rounds. I might try for silver for the final round, but I doubt it for the following reasons: - Lack of time - General lack of skill - Lack of T9 ships that I feel comfortable playing at this point in time (only Jean Bart and Pommern). -

I think I will include ships which I ‘bought’ through crates in this list. Note that this covers an NA and EU account Best: Lenin (as I have taken Kutuzov out only twice) Worst: Wukong (the Chinese NY cruiser). Best Free XP: Alaska Worst Free XP: Nelson Best coal: Georgia Worst coal: Aigle Best by other (free) means: Jean Bart (thank you Jingles!) Worst by other (free) means: Mikasa (still fun for the occasional meme game). Most fun: Toss up between Pommern and Jean Bart Morally most repugnant: Toss up between Smolensk and Thunderer. -

Narai, all the right camos (starting with ‘this is your day’) and decked out in the correct dragon flags, and you get 30k Commander XP easily. -
How can i be sure in Wows nobody arent cheating ?
Dutchy_2019 replied to verx89's topic in General Discussion
True, though that has yet to happen to me as I have yet to learn the trick of playing Atlanta properly. I have had ‘smoke’ kills with Mainz in Co-op, and with BB’s on DD’s and cruisers in randoms. To some extent it feels a bit similar to learning to (semi-)blind fire over islands. -

Dutchy_2019 replied to verx89's topic in General Discussion
Depends. IIRC if people ‘ripple’ fire, the randomized bit is minimized, and it more or less allows you to guess where the middle of the ship is. Not sure which fire mode has this effect, could be one of the others. -
Yup, in Friesland it will not work, unless you can switch targets. German DD’s you can fire almost continuously. I think my record - in Co-op - is 16 resets in one of the American DDs. And that was WITH competition for those cap resets.

True, you can practice shooting smoked up targets. The first time I was able to nail someone by more than just dumb luck felt glorious. I have not tried it (yet) myself, but some people use spotter plane to help them with that. OP might also have forgotten the smoke firing penalty. -
So, How things are going in the bronze sprint?
Dutchy_2019 replied to Butterdoll's topic in General Discussion
Yup, there is a time limit. Roughly a week per sprint + qualification. -
I generally like Co-op mode, but usually play that higher tier with BB’s. Pommern, Massachussetts, Tirpitz, Jean Bart, even Scharnhorst. Most of my cruiser games in Co-op are T7 and T8: Atago, Eugen, Mainz, Myoko clones, etc. I tend to play T5 and T6 with my DD’s.

Ranked Silver. Makes Bronze feel like kindergarten game
Dutchy_2019 replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
CV’s also burned or exploded faster than any other ship, were useless in storms, atrocious at actually spotting and relaying that info, and the whole air fleet of multiple ships was needed to bring down a near defenseless BB. -
I rarely play T5 Co-op, and for close range brawling fun I have many enjoyable alternatives in higher tiers.
-
The reasons for that might have little to do with ship quality in itself, but name recognition for the competition: Scharnhorst, Nelson, Duke of York. Therefore few people will buy her. For most, I think she will have dropped from crates or Super Containers. Which means that the population that plays her is probably more random. And matters will probably be made worse because of her peculiarities.
-
I think Ashitaka is one of those ships with a particular play style and fairly high skill floor. Something which does NOT make it a bad ship in itself, just not suitable for many. As for worse ships than Florida: I raise you Oklahoma.

Dutchy_2019 replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
Also add in that quite a few players use(d) ranked to knock off snowflakes. That might have an impact on the numbers for each ship as well. I think it is difficult to draw any valid conclusions about strength of ships and players from these statistics. -
I can see where you are coming from as a presumably good and definitely experienced player (and from that point of view it is definitely a justifiable opinion). Personally, with the level I am at, I do definitely not trust myself to rank out in anything other than Bronze, and would only feel somewhat comfortable playing in silver using JB. Sure, I also see it as a challenge to see where I am at, but I am definitely interested in the rewards, as for me that is pretty much the only way to earn steel atm.
-
True. But I would argue that - at least in steel - the rewards in Gold are poor compared to those in Bronze when looking at the effort one has to put in into getting them.
-
Personally I would argue that the rewards in Silver and Gold are too low in relation to the effort one has to put in to rank out.
