Thanks for suggestions :) I know what you mean, I rushed through lower tiers, I badly wanted Akizuki (I'm a shiplover, she is my everlasting love :D), and at some point I realized that I play crap really... So now I hoover between V and VII tiers and have fun, learning. But sometimes I like to visit higher tiers and try. And tier VIII is the only way to complete campaigns... I did noticed that, it's really strange, IJN is one of the 2 oldest navies in the game? I always liked Japanese designs, so different and strange sometimes :) Kaga in time, my first premium CV will be Ark Royal, no doubt about that :) But I'm not in the rush, I'm not CV main. That's the problem, I was thinking about Mutsu, but I play mainly Randoms... I will get to Myoko soon, I really enjoy Aoba, is their style of play similar? I usually hunt enemy CAs or support my BBs against DDs and other BBs. DDs is my favourite class, I like this independence. But I was a bit put off with Asashio because of her's torps, why they can not hit CAs? Pan-asia DDs have DWT and they can hit cruisers as well? I'm just afraid that it would be boring torpedo spamming 20 mins, as guns are not that good to skirmish with other DDs, no cap contesting, just running from red DDs and planes? I think it was 4th defeat in a row in Fiji, in all games I did decent, but was low tier, in this a bit more than decent, but still not enough... It was a good game, me with Minekaze and Konigsberg (sorry if I missed someone) dominated right wing, but left collapsed quickly and we were overwhelmed. But hey, who cares about WR ;)

Not worth an effort, out of last 4 I got 3 had flags and one 1k dubs... ....

Yes, hard to disagree, I was struggling a bit with higher tier DDs, this slow reload is not helping at all... And also CVs just loved to focus on me, I had 2 games where I managed to survive but was targeted all the time by rogue CV (both plays with 4 DDs on each side). I feel more comfortable in stealth play and supporting cap contesting DDs with my hydro and smoke.

Hi. I'm looking for an advice on premium destroyers tiers V or VI, German and US, for captain training purposes. I don't want any higher tier, I do have ships from VII and VIII but I'm not very good there... I was looking at T-61 and Sims, but maybe there's something better on offer? I have an option to test Monaghan in Armory. I enjoy playing destroyers in general (I'm not very good with French and Russian ones), but I need more training before moving to tier VII- Farragut was not kind to me... German ones I like, even T-22 was fun for me sometimes, Gaede is - but I have only 9 pt cap on her. Can you please advice what ship would be good for me? Thanks!

Hey! Thank you for all your replies and advice! I rented Monaghan from Armory, had 4 games - not that bad, maybe even better that she's vanilla (to train I mean), although why would I pay for premium that is not much different from stock ships? Next rented was Z-39 - fantastic! Played 12 games I think, what a ship! Slow reload doesn't help, but many times I managed to ambush DDs thanks to her stealth and hydro. Last 2 games I got too bold and overextended, died at the beginning of both matches. Well, I guess any DD has to be careful, no matter what HP pool... Now I have a big problem, T-61 or Z-39? I can buy only one for now... I'm leaning towards Z-39... To some point I was developing all lines and types simultaneously, at the moment I have DDs of every nation of tiers V to VIII. But not much experience in playing any of them... Japanese - I think stealth DDs are one of the easiest to harness, the only I freeXPed was Shira, couldn't work her out... And I really wanted Akizuki :) But I suck in it... Akatsuki for contrast I feel quite comfortable with. USA - as I said I was struggling with Farragut. Researched Mahan, but still not bought it. The reason - I wanted to train a bit on premium and get more captain skills (that's why I was thinking about Monaghan or Sims...) USSR - Podvoisky was okeish, I'm not very good in gunboats... Gnievny researched, but at the moment I prefer Pan-Asia DD Germany - Gaede, I like it. Even T-22 was nice for me :) UK - I'm on Jervis now, and quite like it. But I have to play very focused and careful, I usually charge too much as some point... France - Guepard. And same as with Russians, struggle... I have Aigle, but due to having smoke it's a different kind of fish completely. Pan-Asia - Fushun, enjoy it enormously :) First few games I lost, and had 0% WR... After that it clicked :) One of the reasons why I'm not rushing with Gnievny. I could buy Anshan for coal, but I'm saving for something bigger. Europe - I love Visby :) Vasteras as well, but my WR in her is terrible. I want to improve my game before I buy Skane (already researched) From Premiums I have - apart from Aigle - Blyskawica and Haida. Blyska I can't play too good, Haida is superb, but I play too carefully in her. That's a full picture, I should have write it in my 1st post :) So I will most certainly go for Z-39, and in time I will buy T-61 as well as I enjoy German DDs. What premium would you recommend for Japanese? And how to improve play on gunboats? Akizuki, Russians, French? Thanks again for all your advice, really appreciate it!

All day strings of defeats, very bad plays from my side and almost all my teams, in one of the games a new low - 1 (ONE!!!) point earned before mercifully last of our ships slid beneath the water... And this game came - did not play Aoba for a while, and forgot how good she can be. Gave my utmost, at the end finally defeated by ... Aoba, whilst defending cap, Konig left alone against Emile Bertin... and he fucked it up... Not my day clearly, WR hates me. But enjoyed the game and happy with my performance :)

Rarely play BBs, maybe I should more often? :)

Things like this happens :D I did 24k damage and performed as poor as my teammates, at least I survived kiting my way out of the mess, after failing with few others to defend the only cap we took. 3 our DDs dead in first 3 mins, half of the team chose to stay in spam, and no experienced player to carry. 9 minutes of pain. Everyday bread and butter. Just sometimes I'm on the winning side :)

Thanks for helping me to make up my mind :) I like Austro-Hungarian navy, and would like to see more SMS ships in the game. Tatra coming soon, could do with Novara class cruiser :) I was eyeing VU for a long time, I prefer historic ships than made up ones from upper tiers, but only read bad opinions about her. Now it seems it's not as bad as I thought.

I like Gaede, but never performed very good in her, maybe because my captain is only 9 pts so far and I don't even have concealment on her yet. These guns... Very fast game, first perfect torpedo shot on Iron Duke, than best part - Omaha and cit after cit :) Surprised Montecuccoli, she just came out of smoke with guns turned to the other side, and carrier was just cherry on top, do you know this feeling of accomplishment when justice has finally been served? All DD captains who sunk a carrier knows it ;)))

Hm. I'm reading this discussion and you guys are right when you say it's all up to the individual. I'm below average when you look at statistics, actually recently my WR is going down (but stats slightly up)... I watch YT and Twitch, learn this and that, try to apply it. Love the game, but sometimes get distracted (kids in the room, gf, work etc), or just not paying enough attention. Recently I was very frustrated and vented few times in chat (after I was dead). Just now I had 6 defeats in a row, and I just can't - being totally aware of my own shortcomings - escape the impression that the teamwork is more important than some of you here imply. I usually play DD or CL/CA, and recently more on tiers VII and VIII, therefore quite often with 2 highest tiers. It's a nightmare. Asking for any support is just futile. Very often I find myself taking the cap, fighting for it and delaying opposition just to find out that no one even tried to exploit my efforts. In game from screenshot that I attached I was in Amalfi completely alone on one side of the map trying to stop the enemy, and ALL the rest of the team was camping all game far away from caps behind big island! All were picked one by one, I died early in the game but was watching it to the end. And players from my team were experienced, only odd had few k games and like 40 or 42% WR. I mean, I'm suppose to learn from more experience players, right? I'm not good enough to carry the team. I have only like bit over 1k games... And that game was not an exception, on higher tiers this experience is a norm for me... What else can I do? I go back to lower tiers and communication is better, fun is better, teamwork is better. Same players (I mean experienced, with over 10 k games etc), why? I feel like I need a rest few days from the game...

Hi Got Amalfi recently, but first few battles were quite painful... I liked Zara, I like Amalfi as well, especially handling, although reload is slow and SAP not very reliable. What can I do to get more out of her? What would you advise in 5th upgrade slot? I was thinking concealment, but steering mod is very tempting as well. What skills would be most beneficial for the captain? I have only 11 pt captain at the moment. And little OT - just completed a game where fighters from Lexington in one attack took over 8k of my health? Is it not a bit over the top these rockets?

I remember I was in similar situation, just don't remember what BB it was (wasn't deleted, but still...) :) I try to keep my distance ;)

Thanks for your replies! I think the problem was I was playing stock ship (don't want to spend any free XP as I collect for Nelson), and was getting really close and brawling. Also my concealment was very poor as I don't have enough credits for last upgrade and my captain had fire prevention instead of CE. Now it's getting better (in one game I sunk 4 ships and carried the team, in other surprised Brindisi from flank and sunk with 7 cits), got enough exp and silver for longer range (and using spotter plane), almost done with hull B, still waiting for last upgrade, after that should be sweet. My captain spec is IFA (for some reason works for me better than PT on cruisers), AR, SE and CE. Not long for 12th skill point, that will be EM. I really like playing this ship, but have no comparison with other tier VIII cruisers? Tbh I'm not experienced enough to be on 8th tier (the only other ship from that tier is Akizuki, I just had to have her :)), my place is rather around 5-6 tiers. My stats improving, but WR is getting worse... Thanks again for your advice, appreciate it! :)

Comment to this map? It was over half a game, we were losing 90 to 760 at that time, 2 or 3 ships went for C and were obliterated by overwhelming force, I lost my patience and tried to take B with cruiser, died in the process. Rest was playing cat and mouse with much weaker opponent below A, only started pushing when game was already lost. This guy at the bottom left corner hiding behind the island all game have a record 360 games, all no higher than V tier, and decided to buy DoY... I mean, I sucked on this occasion as well, like 30k damage only, but I bet they didn't even looked at tactical map once... Randoms :)

I know for many it's nothing special, but for me Kraken happened only 2nd time in my career :) Love games like that, very close to the end, last man standing defending last cap from Mighty Hood (few seconds more and he would be my 6th victim). Banzai!

You have to learn to distance yourself a bit :) After all it's only a game. Have a cup of coffee and good book or movie for a change. It's hard at times, I know from own experience. Last few weeks I had a few strings of bad loses (like 10 and over in a bounce), and in some of them I was getting really frustrated - working my [edited]off in a dd to secure caps or flanks with no support from my team, afks, armchair admirals trying to tell everyone else what to do, frustrated opponents sending hate messages after a game, this sort of things. And had a few where I was dying at the start and my team won without me (says a lot about my contribution ;D). Chill out, have fun.

First few games I played with 3 pt cap and had really good scores, you just have to be more careful with limited stealth zone. Weak torps, but not uncommon to have over 10 hits. AA good, in one game I shot down 25 planes, fast and nimble. Won't make a lot of damage, but good spotter and good in harassing enemy. Just my opinion, and I'm below average player.

Have you ever come across this kind of thing? I had a lot of penetrations during the game on different ships, but no damage whatsoever...

You must be right with this delay, I was watching the count just after these hits (and on few other occasions earlier in the game) and it just didn't gone up. But in the heat of the battle I was not looking at it long... Thanks!

What I mean is that I observed pens but no damage was added to my count? In this case total damage that I caused was the same before and after these pens... Never seen anything like it...

For me game above 50k is an achievement :) If I have a game like this I'm happy bunny. I was close to get Ark at the end, maybe if I was a better player it would give my team a win... After few months with this game I came to realization that I was skipping tiers too fast, did not get enough experience, and now streaks of bad loses are not uncommon for me... Only when I started to read forum and watch youtubers I was able to improve. I have only 3 destroyers from tiers 7 and 8, rest of my fleet is from 4-6, and I plan to stay there for a while to practice more :)
