Best ship for achieving fastest "Main battery hits" missions?
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
I actually got the Malta for coal yesterday with nothing else of interest on offer and it was actually just how gorgeous the ship looks that heavily influenced the buy. Also had an 18 point Andrew Cunningham from playing Ops with Ark Royal "Shout out to @DeviousDave02 !" who seems like a very CV specific special commander. I briefly too a look at the Max Immelmann but it was neither as good looking nor sported such a fancy commander so the Malta it was. Btw,(I'm a total noob greenhorn CV player) I find the Nakhimov stronger and just far easier to play than Malta. CV play generally doesn't require much brain matter but you can go full-donkey when playing the Nak and it doesn't matter. Just one flight, no consumables as such, one attack, all 3 aircraft types are good... it's just a "no brain needed" sort of CV beyond most. Obviously you need to learn the correct lead of the various weapon delivery systems and boost management but that's about it and that takes a couple of battles to "master". Edit- I only played one battle with Malta so maybe that was a bit harsh but I doubt it would be as good as the Nak even with practice but they're very different playsytles regardless of the whole same looking CV airplane toxic play appearance lol. -
Best ship for achieving fastest "Main battery hits" missions?
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the suggestions. Wow, I was way out.(scuttles the Helena) Well, the ship will be played in Co-op exclusively for such main battery missions and as suggested just "smoke up and farm in peace" Also, I guess it's going to need to be a free ship from the tree OR, maybe a coal ship but getting a coal ship just for reeling off fast mains mission might be a bit wasteful, maybe not, depends on your ship collection and "surplus" coal I guess. But just focusing on the tech tree and typical co-op programming, I agree that perhaps having a ship that can farm in smoke might make the most sense since exposed front running DD's and cruisers tend to get hard-focused by bots in Co-op so a ships ability to actually last long enough to reel off lots of main battery shots has to be factored into the best choice too I guess. No point being ship that gets citadeled or wrecked really easily and quickly lol. What do you guys think would be the more consistently reliable pick between these two free smokers 1. As you guys suggested, the Harugumo with it's 5X2 mains featuring smoke and a full health 2.64 reload and 12.55km range. Cons, looks a bit... ungainly, range is a bit on the low side(but not bad for a DD) and if it gets Matrixed by the all knowing bots that ignore smoke and everything else, might not last long enough to reliably rack up a good haul. 2. Here's an interesting looking option too MAYBE(and something to stick the new commander into), the PA Jinan. It's not reloading it's 5X2 mains as quickly as the Haru but it's almost as fast with a full health 2.82 reload but has a better gun range of 14.5km, also has smoke but also has more hp and repair parties. That said it also has inferior speed, concealment and features a citadel so... maybe the sharper ballistic Haru gunboat is the more consistently reliable free ship for this mission? -
You could flip that the other way and make ranked a tech-tree only mode in the interest of fairness. Neither option gonna happen. Exactly, it's mostly a really annoying bot-fest mode where whoever's DD's yolo and die first usually dictates the result for their team as usual. That or who's got the stronger CV for the mode with a side order of OP premium ships dictating proceedings which can of course also be a DD or CV. It's just collecting steel which requires no skill whatsoever, just the ability to keep playing the required number of wins for it. Good players get the steel in fewer battles but are still restricted by how much gold they can get per sprint which isn't really much more than clueless and botting players just spamming battles to achieve pretty much the same amount. For me that clearly derails any deluded argument that these steel ships and/or RB have higher win rates and higher damage dealing averages on the server due to "Only the greatest handful of players in the game have these ships!" ahaha! remember that meme? No, the reason these ships have a higher winrate and damage average is because they're simply BETTER SHIPS, not because the players who use them are only the best, though obviously all player including the good players will play these ships too, but it's not like bad players play bad ships lol. Bad players also want, get and play the best ships in the game, and more noobs than good players is the ratio I'm seeing. Unsurprisingly players of ALL SKILL LEVELS both want AND HAVE these steel ships(and RB) ships, that's the point of these ships, to get all players playing these modes and hopefully buying premiums or in RB ships cases paying to convert xp to skip grinds which is exactly what WG wants obviously but either way, skill is NOT a requirement for any of these ships, just persistence and the ability to spam enough battles. It just takes better players less battles to get there. We'll see players get these steel and RB ships even faster now of course with the thousands available from the new BP offering plus a purchased upgrade buys a player even more thousands of steel and RB, making it far more Pay2Win than ever before but tbh, what's more criminal, botting steel in ranked with a "I don't give a f how I play, I'll just keep spamming and yoloing until I get the required number of wins for steel", or opening ones wallet to effectively just buy steel from premium BP season? I'm not actually giving out here, just calling it how it is, not that anyone had any doubts I suspect.

You didn't do what the clueless noob told you to do. Have a report. Your crime is still being alive towards the end of the lost battle. Have a report. You didn't sail your DD into a cap being flanked by an enemy radar cruiser. Have a report. You didn't sail your BB flank speed into 3-5 enemy ships and win the flank solo while the same guy reporting you did and died or sits behind an island not supporting you. Have a report. You play a CV. Have a report. You play a sub. Have a report. You played well but noob teammate can't tell the difference. Have a report. You carried the team to victory. Have a report You did nothing wrong but butthurt teammate who just died on the other flank needs to vent. Have a report. You sank enemy ship. Have a report by enemy player. You clicked battle. Have a report. Ya. All seems good and solid with the Karma system.

I enjoyed that. Thanks for uploading the results and a 100 containers of each is a pretty decent sample size I would say. Obviously 1000 of each would be more accurate but 100 is still decent accuracy. So from what we can see. Coal There's a remarkably consistent 11-12k coal for every 100 of the non-coal containers opened which is about 110 coal per container average. Not bad given it's not a coal container. 100 coal containers dropped 51k coal making them more than 4 times, almost 5 times higher the amount of coal gained which is actually pretty good. 510 coal average per container. Silver credits 100 Eco containers dropped 6.25 million credits 100 camo containers dropped about 1.1 million credits. Why anyone would purposefully select camo containers since the camo-patch is beyond me, or even before the camo-patch tbh. 100 coal dropped 850k credits. Might that be the same drop rate as camo containers with a bigger sample size? 100 signal containers dropped no credits. Seems a bit odd but, k. Maybe having credits in non-eco containers is more odd but we could say the same about having coal in non-coal containers. Well, what I like about this post is that a new player or any player tbh, can get some sort of idea of how many containers and roughly how long they will need before they have enough coal or silver to purchase a ship or equipment etc. Of course, that doesn't take into consideration the lots of additional coal and credits a player will undoubtedly obtain from events, missions and codes. Also worth noting here is that if a player is in a clan they will get an ADDITIONAL 10% on all the credits, coal and forms of XP you see in the screenshot. So that's 56k coal instead of 51k and 7 million credits instead of 6.25. Not to be sniffed at.

Ranked Battles: The Tenth Season
Sir_Sinksalot replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
The qualifying mode is even worse. A player needs to win 5 stars to make silver with no pushback protection for losing other than again, the top best loser. To add insult to injury this rather tricky qualifying mode with all the ups and downs a player would expect from randomly drawn everything with a side order of OP premium ships and OP CV's, is that it doesn't actually get rewarded with anything either. The mode just unlocks the next league, that's all, for all that effort. One of the major draws to play this mode is get some steel and maybe some doubloons to a lesser extent but I would have thought that at the very least rewarding qualifying completion with 200 steel was more than a reasonable expectation and for the love of God make ranked battles qualifying mode count towards all missions that are pacified for playing ranked battles since this is still playing in the ranked battles mode. It's simple to fix, that's why I'm making this comment. 1. Reward completion of qualifying. It's just as hard or almost as hard to complete as the final stages of most leagues. A little 200 Steel and/or 200 doubloons would be very fitting for the invested time and effort, not it's current nothing. 2. Make qualifying battles count towards Dockyard missions etc. Edit - It appears the quali battles in ranked does indeed contribute towards Dockyard and hopefully all such missions where ranked battles are shown as accepted criteria. For some reason yesterday it didn't show any progress either after a battle in the results or back in the Dockyard mission progress. Odd but regardless, it does count so that's great and I put a line through what's not true in the above comments. Also, for progressing through qualifying we do get a few economic buffs but that's not what we're in the mode for, it's primarily the steel and even a little bit of doubloons so I'd still highlight that getting an additional 200 steel and/or doubloons would be very befitting the mode and effort to progress out of qualifying which is by no means easy imho. -

Wow, those are some seriously inappropriately shaped subs. I thought this is a G-rated game? -

Can we kindly get some more coal BB's in Armory @Devs
Sir_Sinksalot posted a topic in General Discussion
650k+ coal and nothing to spend it on(for a BB main). Well, one thing that stood out with this interesting mixed tier Ranked season is the lack of coal ships at other tiers too. For BB's the current Armory coal offerings are. T5 - 2 T6 - 0 T7 - 1 T8 - 0 T9 - 4 T10 - 1 Maybe even consider Steel offerings. -
Can we kindly get some more coal BB's in Armory @Devs
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
My approach for coal "management" is as follows. If there's nothing of great interest to buy with coal, save enough coal that would purchase at least 2 of the most expensive coal ships even without discounts before considering buying some coal ship of no great interest to me. That way, if I did buy some less desirable coal ship but afterwards WG springs an unforeseen and unannounced surprise by adding some new T10 coal ship that I'd immediately want, I'd still be in the position(or very close) to buy that new ship without regretting buying the other ship first. But now that I'm in that position, tbh I'm still very reluctant to bother buying some coal ship that I probably don't really want and won't play much of simply "because". Having tier specific game-modes are a great way to encourage that and give other ships a lot more relevancy and attractiveness when featured as a top tier ship away from that 3 tier rando format, but as mentioned, these ship options just aren't available for coal at some tiers which seems odd to me given these ships are available at even higher tiers such as T9 and T10 which are premier tiers for this game with only T11 being higher. It's like WG devs are caught between different ideas and directions to take which conflict with each other. If the argument for not featuring coal ships at T8 was money, then it makes even less sense to offer T9 ships valued at €63 for coal, and T10 ships aren't even available to buy for cash yet can be obtained with coal albeit just one ship, the GK. What price would that sell for if placed in the premium shop? €90-100? Regardless of "GK is meh" it would still be a way for a completely new player to buy their way straight into T10 immediately and it ain't that bad of a ship tbh, certainly a decent ranked ship with it's tanky armor, lots of mains, secondary with 32mm+ of pen, torp spotting hydro and decent AA. It ain't Bourgo but still, it's a decent T10 and I'd expect some people would buy it for €90-100 if it was offered in the premium shop. Yet it's only available for coal. Therefore it kinda makes no sense that T8 has no coal ships at all, of ANY class, as much as to suggest that T8 is the premier tier in this game and that T9 and T10 are considered inferior tiers in the pecking order of things. Same can nearly be said about T6. There's lots of T6 premiums, is this a secret seal clubbing tier I didn't know about that there's lots of T6 premiums and yet no coal ships other than 3 DD's? T7 only has 4 coal ships. Co-op is trash imho, just something to play for missions which makes spending as much as 300k a waste(personally speaking) but I do like Ops but that's restricted to tiers in which we simply don't have many(or any in T8) coal ships available. Plus I find that Ops randomly drawn missions, the new balance with OP bot waves make it a struggle and downright impossible for T6 and T7 ships to carry and as such makes it a "T8 only" mode for any solo player that wants to play this mode with at least having a small chance to carry when all teammates melt and go AFK or God knows what. -
It's not. It's erroneously misleading customers based on the history of prior BP offerings which all featured X,Y and Z, then selling the next offering without first divulging what a customer is getting compared to previous offerings which I base on the above comment "now I only find out after buying the new one and nothing was known about this disappearing the previous passes had this". So legally probably no wrong doing if there actually was a disclaimer and a "read the small print" which I'd expect there almost certainly was but definitely a very unsavory act for a business who relies on selling digital products not to launch this BP update vid and link a week or two before instead of yesterday, AFTER this BP season was already being sold.

A battle without CV's and Subs. Well, as horribly balanced as some of those ships are, sadly that's a reasonably balanced looking lineup where surface ships are going to dictate the result, not airplanes or some annoying whale vomiting homing torpedoes.
-
Yes. I believe it falls under the category of false advertisement and requires the seller to offer a full refund and/or compensation under EU consumer protection laws.

Perfectly normal source of money. Maybe this game has an older playerbase where many players are content and actually prefer the battleship grey colored ships along with a digestive biscuit with their tea, "none of that fancy stuff!" but most games tend to offer the gold armor set or the forest camo outfit or whatever the case may be, sold purely for the aesthetics of it and many players do buy those things. There's a place for both types of players and they should sell things like this imho since it's a way to make money which doesn't screw the game balance so should be explored and expanded on. Besides I think there's a settings option to disable those visual "eyesores" and "abominations" for players that don't want to see King Kong or a ship that looks like a castle or a church etc. Fine. One thing I don't understand is why there's a difference in price between the consumable camo's? They're not 3D skins and are basically all the same thing, just a different color with a pattern so...?

Ranked Battles: The Tenth Season
Sir_Sinksalot replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Why change bronze league to only the 1st place in the losing team saves a star instead of top 2 players? The differences between players experience and skill levels in bronze league is often huge plus with the inclusion of CV's now makes finishing as the top loser on a team a total lottery, since any player, regardless of skill and experience can get hard focused by a CV which both attacks and/or keeps your ship perma-spotted for the enemy team to also focus their fire on which puts a massive amount of focused fire on a player which regardless of their skill level will struggle to survive and certainly struggle to make any plays worthy of the top position on their team under such intense focus and fire. So if this happens and your team loses, that focused player loses a star, for doing absolutely nothing wrong at all. That player never even had a chance to express their ability if they actually had any. Is that fair? Not at all obviously but it's not a fair game, we know that. Just don't make it TOXICALLY unfair, because players have a cut-off point where they just stop participating in that mode and/or just bot their way to the free goodies since playing to the best of their ability but being focused, plus maybe having a teammate dubiously farm a top result with a very negative brand of low-risk padding which ultimately sowed the seeds of defeat results in players unfairly losing a star far too often. Also, T6 ships often have pitifully bad AA capability and pitiful resistance to fires so again... once a ship is singled out by a CV for focusing, apart from having a big spotlight placed on that victim for all the enemy ships, there's no way that ship is going to make top on the team. That focused player gets shot at by most enemy ships, the CV sets them on fire, they'll very quickly get set on fire AGAIN, 3-4 fires, low T6 HP... ya, even having a top 2 best losers would still be pretty rough under such conditions but just the top player saving a star is absolutely toxic. It's counterproductive to positive plays and discourages plays made to actually win the battle. Because it's so easy to lose progress with completely unknown random players and getting focused by a CV, the goal now in bronze league is to not lose a star rather than trying to gain a star. It's more about saving stars than trying to win. Just go out there, hope there's no CV's on the enemy team, hope there's not too many pay2win premium ships on the enemy team but if there is, just try to farm a star and consider the battle a loss even before a single ship is spotted and before a single shot is fired. It's a negative brand of playstyle and ultimately not fun to play. I take it the whole point of playing any game is for fun and enjoyment? Sure, it can't be fun and wins for every battle, but why go out of your way to create a mode the polar opposite that's not much fun most of the time? What's the point of ranked exactly? If it's a skill based mode on the surface then does that not dictate that players must be of at least a certain standard to even qualify to play this modes bronze league? Why am I seeing players with a couple of hundred battles? Why am I seeing players with 30 something and low 40 % win rates? This is "skill"? How so? Also, where is skill rewarded when there's so many ways in which a highly skilled played can get "outplayed" by an inferior player for the plethora of above mentioned reasons? It's up to that good player to somehow avoid being the victim of a CV and being spotlighted for the entire battle this way? If you have advice on how to do that I'd sure as hell love to hear it. -

How's having to finish first place in a lost battle in bronze league "easier" to finish? It was top 2 losers save a star before so no, it's not easier, it's now harder. -
Arms Race is the rando where there's buffs and eventually a big cap circle spawns in the middle of the map should the battle last that long? I kinda like it because it makes players have to think a bit more(which seems to be a rare commodity in this game!)) and consider the "risk vs reward" much more. A DD player might think it's beneficial to grab an early buff but in doing so what might be a gain might also become a highly dangerous trap since the enemy DD may look to lurk around that, slip a wall of torps towards that buff-cap to correspond with the countdown timer where he feels if there's going to be an enemy DD sitting in this buff-cap waiting for the timer, he'll hopefully catch it and of course, if it's a gunboat DD, just aggressively charge that buff-cap with the hopes there is a weaker enemy DD there(he can see the enemy lineup so has fair expectations of what that DD is going to be). Equally a CV player will know that this buff is an attractive lure and a perfect place to recon and if there is indeed a DD there or a cruiser, light him up, deploy fighters and then move in closer to attack. Also, because the buffs increase various aspects of ships from hp to reload times to damage per shell(and maybe more stuff I can't remember), there is also the potential for a mega-battle with 300k+ damage as the ships you fight gain more hp and as your guns gain superior DPM and damage per shell. The downside is that if a team is imbalanced,(which ain't rare in this HORRIBLY balanced game!)) then the team with superiority are obviously the ones most likely to collect these spawning buffs which in turn makes the already horribly one sided battle even more of a sht-show.

Hi guys. Hoping the WG devs read this or get it passed on by a kind staff member and to be fair they do at least read these threads. The Irish Navy or "Irish Naval Service" was established on 1st of September 1946 and we're fast approaching the 1st of September. It would be great if the devs could mark the occasion with a few typical missions rewarding a INS flag. Thanks Edit @Seraphice

Irish Naval Service Anniversary Flag
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
There's also a "Lá fhéile Pádraig" camo in the consumable camo options which means St Patricks Day in Irish. It's a pretty nice camo too actually but I could also imagine a 3D skin with a large shamrock on the bow and stern. An insignia would be nice too. We have the Shamrock one, but maybe the tricolor and/or navy crest would be great too. There's lots of flags and insignia's in the game but they should cover all nations and navy's where possible. It's up to players to let them know about certain celebrations and anniversaries too though. -
Irish Naval Service Anniversary Flag
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Well, here we are already at around two months away from St Patricks day so how about giving that Irish Naval Service flag a little nudge for the developers attention as part of a weekend special or event? Also, how about a regular Irish flag too? Obviously a permanent green shamrock themed skin for a ship would be amazing but maybe that's pushing it. -
At this Point WG should seriously think about their game
Sir_Sinksalot replied to VeteranGamer84's topic in General Discussion
Careful what you wish for or before you know it they'll start adding poorly conceived, further balance breaking and badly implemented gimmicks to fill that new content void you now whine about. Maybe even such things like an 11th tier, or maybe even submarines or hybrid CV's. Can you imagine such things?? Don't worry though, we're a long way from subs ever being added into this game and the WG devs even said themselves that subs in this game would simply never work for many obvious reasons, and currently T10 is the top tier end-product for each line without any glaringly obvious pay2win 11th tier and currently there's only a rare few gimmicky CV hybrids since in this game the over-powered and impossible to counter CV's are already placing and massive strain on surface ship players ability to have an enjoyable gaming experience. So the developers have had the sense not to add any more aircraft equipped ships to the game until they sort that OP aircraft balance out which is seemingly impossible and thus there's no immediate fear of any more aircraft equipped ships being added or any time soon... It's not like there's an entire line of hybridized CV/BB's being added.... right? -
Wow! WG got Scooters sister for their vids! SCOOOTAAAAAAAAA!

What is your haul from Santa's Mega / Big / Ordinary Container this festive 2022/2023 season?
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
The ones I acquired with the certs for having T10 ships. There was possibly a couple more from I think(which is always a dangerous thing to do) the odd code and "click here" during the start of this Christmas season event run. -
I'd guess it's just a joke for the "unlucky" day that's in it where rewards are all based around 13. 13 doubloons. 169 coal. (13X13) 2197 free XP. (13X13X13) They just got cheap with the final reward which doesn't seem to have any 13 theme to it. A flag with 13 on it for the final reward would have been great but hey... whatcha gonna do.
-
No need for the sarcasm. The 169 coal more than makes up for it. Wait what's this, a choice between a small container and pathetic economic bonus container?? No! Don't me have to choose!
