What ships do you play in Asymmetric Battles other than BBs?

Marseille knocks holes in bot BB's just fine but then again that kinda is a very BB like cruiser... and has that nice reload booster too. Not anywhere as good as Bourgo for cracking ships but it's not a BB.

    Auction results: It's ridiculous!

The "Auction" itself was ridiculous, as in, it's not how an actual f'ing auction works. All this was, was rolling the dice with a random figure of currency and hoping for the best. In an actual action there's supposed to be a live feedback to current minimum bids to give the current participants and those interested in participating a pretty solid understanding of what they need to bid or if their current bid is too low or not to bid a retardedly high figure either. You're supposed to get notified that your current bid is too low. If you even look at the WoT auction, they show the bottom and top 3k players current bid. I didn't want anything from this auction but I'm still calling it dumb because that's what it is, dumb. It's not an auction and that's not how an auction works. Bidding blindly, total bs lol.

[POLL] How do you like new Asymmetric Battles ?

I enjoy it. It's a far more involving and challenging way(and therefore a far more enjoyable way too) to complete missions with certain ships I wouldn't play in a PvP mode that's far more enjoyable than the brainrot we call Co-op which most of us would typically play to pacify various missions... plus it seems to reward better than Co-op too in regards xp, credits etc. Now, I have lost some battles BUT, that was totally a useless teammates thing and not the mode at fault. As for any bugs etc... tbh I didn't notice and I didn't much care to read what ships should and shouldn't be there and how many etc. I just click battle and fight what's in front of me. The goal doesn't change if there's an extra enemy BB or a few less cruisers or whatever the case may be, it would just be a little harder or easier I guess.

    New Code.

Same. Every code was accepted. That doesn't mean it actually gives anything since I haven't checked yet but it was accepted!!

What's The Point Of Ranked (Bad Rewards)

For me the point was a Bourgo and Shiki. Now I don't have any point and enjoy playing both of those steel ships in randoms. For another player the point will be different but most likely a steel ship too.

    Battle not ending straight away.

Nah, I love that "extra time" in random battles. Especially when the enemy team wins. It's kinda like "Congratulations on the win! Well played! Oh and uhhh... take this full salvo in the face before you leave "

Why my patience with this game is starting to wear thin.

Same reason a players patience wears thin with any of the "World of" series or games like it. 1. excessive Imbalance. 2. Clueless Bobs 3. 3 tier MM(imbalance category) 4. Things that are broken(imbalance category again) 5. Things that are OP(imbalance again) 6. Excessive RNG since it immediately removes skills and knowledge that was learned through hours, days, weeks and years. 7. Just blatantly unfair things(imbalance again) So ya, basically just excessive imbalance, rng and morons. Now, WG could certainly address and improve 2 of those 3 categories, imbalance and rng, but sadly there's not much they can do about morons other than give them their own paddle pool to aimlessly drool around in as usual that's separate to players displaying just a little bit more interest and skill than rolling their face on the keyboard all battle long.

    Preussen

Maybe it's a personal flavor thing but I remember there was much noise made about Preussen and how it was going to be a more suitable replacement for the GK which WG devs felt wasn't really in keeping with that Bismarck line(might have wanted to take look at the FdG then while you were at it)). I picked it up shortly after I got the GK for free(was a very nice gift to all those who unlocked the GK before it's switch to becoming an Armory coal ship). I played both ships, mostly in ranked and tbh I didn't feel there was much difference in terms of performance and maybe that's not surprising since they're both tier 10 and both German BB's that aren't a million miles apart in differences but I was a bit disappointed by the Preussen and pleasantly surprised by the GK which might have been due to high and low expectations of one and the other. Preussen has bigger and arguably better main battery with better angles which doesn't require it to go anywhere as broadside as GK mostly due to less guns per turrets, but personally I just didn't get that "wow!" feeling from playing Preussen and so because the GK has better economic attributes along with a free commander transfer same as a premium ship, I just played the GK instead for a lot of those ranked battles and in that mode it did the job pretty well and I didn't need a dedicated commander for it which is something I always appreciate. Then the more interesting and certainly very different Schlieffen came along just to completely remove any point of the Preussen. I still have the Preussen but it's just in port doing nothing for almost as long as the GK has been a coal ship and like most players the reason I keep any of these retired T10 ships is for their free SC every year but since those SC's are now nerfed, that reason is dwindling since I just don't care about SC's anymore which were already borderline crap apart from the ultra-rare valuable drop items. So, my guess would be that as soon as a T11 UK BB gets added or some T11 ship I fancy and I need some quick credits, the likes of these T10 port queens in my "collection" will quickly get sold, never to be repurchased unless some big buff comes along. I just don't have use for these ships as soon as they're replaced with an "almost as good" or better premium/coal/steel ship.

    Team Bot

Typical wasn't it. That one time I decided to play a cruiser. Well, back to playing BB's badly for me then!
  14. Unless I've been missing something that shows this all these years? Sometimes a player on my team or the enemy team will have an epic game and personally I want to see the damage they dealt, and assist and blocked etc and yet all of this information is not shown.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Nice way to finish the evening. Had an end-game duel after a long and hard fought battle with the enemy Nakhimov who eventually sank my attacking St.V with his insta-spawn aircraft flights but he didn't have much time to celebrate as I'd managed to fire my last salvo just before I was sunk which gracefully sped across the sky towards his evading CV. Moments later and that last hurrah salvo crunched into the side of his hull sinking him instantly and ending the battle lol.

What am I doing wrong with Yamato?

A mid-close range sec build brawler has a lot more requirements compared to a long range sniper. More requirements in player experience, more requirements in commander skill points, more requirements in signals. My guess is that since most players are casuals and not really giving a flying F about any of those requirements from what we see in these sad battles, that this would naturally translate into a lot of GK's quickly becoming burning wrecks on their way to the bottom of the ocean compared to some casual noob sitting at the back of the map plinking at enemy ships badly but from relative safety that would get away with being inexperienced, not having a well trained commander and not having much signals, if any at all, on their ship. Since the Yamato players are at least not burning wrecks at the bottom of the ocean within the first few minutes of battle by virtue of being out of gun range of a lot of enemy ships unlike brawler GK, then at least the Yamato noobs are still hanging around in the battles long enough to get in a few shots on enemy ships, overmatching a few ships unawares to them, and that will at least put a little more tilt on the result of the battle compared to a quickly dead GK that won't. Also, it's the same deal with the attentions of DD's, subs and CV's. We can expect not just a noob but indeed any player to get in trouble more often against one of those mentioned classes when using a frontline ship like a GK compared to Yamato which again, tends to be out of harms way. The addition of more powerful T11 ships, subs and even more powerful CV's and DDs will hurt both of these T10's but it will hurt the GK a LOT more given it's proximity to enemy ships compared to Yamato. I think perhaps a lot of GK players we see lately are not experienced with sec build brawlers either imho, and as mentioned, that style of play most definitely needs good experience compared to the relatively safe play of a Yamato. My point here is, the GK is NOT a tech-tree ship anymore and perhaps this explains the seemingly "extra clueless" play from many of these GK players. In other words, for a player to have a GK before they could technically waste a lot of free xp but most likely the vast majority ground out this ship the "honest" way playing battles with it's predecessors. This meant that by the time a player progressed from Gneise-> Bismarck-> FdG -> GK, they would have built up experience brawling with these German sec build BB's. In fact, many frowned on how rough their experience with the FdG at tier 9 was in the past so... by the time they unlocked the GK, they HAD to figure out how to brawl with a German sec build BB on some level lol. But now, you can just buy the GK with coal and think that's what the difference is here in the tilt in stats. We now have players buying and playing the coal GK, that have NO EXPERIENCE brawling with a German sec build BB. Mix that with the already high requirements compared to the far simpler approach Yamato takes in regards player experience, commander skills and signals, and ya, no surprise really is it.

What am I doing wrong with Yamato?

The problem with the Legendary mod, which as outlined it badly needs, is 1. You need to first unlock Research Bureau which needs 5 T10 ships unlocked? This takes time no matter what spin you want to put on that. Not just the XP, but also credits for ships, their upgrades, equipment, XP transferring commanders 2. You also need to accumulate RB points in order to purchase the mod. 3. While gaining an improvement in dispersion, you lose the 12% reload while retaining the slower turret traverse. Personally speaking I'm a busy player during battles and shoot on the reload frequently so the ratio of "quality over quantity" just isn't there imho and yet, the faster reload with inferior dispersion is unacceptable too. Basically neither option is wow. 4. By the time this player unlocks the RB and accumulates the RB points to purchase the mod, no doubt they'll have already long since moved on from crappy Yamato, now a far more experienced player and better understanding just why playing literally any other T10 BB is better including the GK which at least is somewhat tanky, has lots of mains, hydro and 32mm+ pen secondaries as standard but to each their own in that regards. Lets put it this way, if I was in a ranked battle ore even a rando, and had to pick either Yamato or GK, it's the tanky close quarters GK with sec, fast reloading mains and hydro each and every time. No contest.

    Zieten is Garbage

The only real failings of the Ruski BB's for me is that they're just really drab and boring to play. Those big damaging strikes from the mains are delightful but apart from that, the mains themselves tend to reload slower than most, and the ability to sit next to an island pointing bow-on at mid range targets, they're not really an involving playstyle compared to the likes of a PH which has mains, secondaries, torps and hyro to stay active and busy during the main battery reload and just moves about the map a lot more too.

What am I doing wrong with Yamato?

Yamato has the worst win rate of all T10 BB's in the game. There might be some non-performance factors behind that such as Yay! Yamato!" but that doesn't factor for all of it. - Guns are not particularly accurate featuring some poor dispersion regardless of what looks like impressive sigma. - Shells are quick but not complimentary to it's gun range which does notably drop away which gives it a more realistically reliable 19-22km "happy place" range. - It's a ship that's well known by the playerbase or rather, it's week cheeks on front and rear(basically aim under the most forward and rear mains and you'll probably see bad things happen to this ship. - It's slow - Turns poorly - Guns turn poorly too - Pitiful AA at tiers where CV's are at their most lethal - Now T11 with ships that can reach it from further and hurt if easier, plus T11 CV's too. - No hydro. It has good torpedo soakage but a higher tier torps will still do massive damage and now subs. So... it's not so much that the Yamato is a bad ship, it's not, it's "ok" but it's very pigeon holed into being a ranged sniper since there's just so many things can farm it due to it's sluggish nature and lack of defensive countermeasures to things like torp slingers, subs and CV's. Also, because the guns traverse slowly along with the hull, it's rather unwieldy in mid-close range as if the lack of countermeasures from torps, subs and aircraft attacks wasn't bad enough. Also, because of it's weak spots it's even riskier to bring her in close since that will naturally increase the penetration of enemy ships focusing those areas that might otherwise have not penned her due to natural penetration drop off in range along with the increased dispersion across range on their guns. Sure, 1 or 2 enemy shells might occasionally pen her weak spots at range, but not an entire salvo which one can expect if you get in close and think you're gonna brawl. So in conclusion. It's really limited to being a backline sniper. This is fine if it was actually good at doing that, but it's not due to dispersion and drop-off in shell velocity beyond 19-21km. It's not even so much that the shells lose loads of velocity after that distance, it's just that enemy ships aren't going to keep straight lining or going in the same heading at the same speed. They'll react obviously and so by the time your already badly dispersed shells reach a target at 22-25km away, they've have taken evasive action and so the shells need to be faster or have more of a sustained conservation of velocity in order to actually exploit that sort of gun range at this tier. Even if the shells sustained their velocity, the dispersion is still gonna translate into maybe 1-2 shells landing even if the enemy ship is a paid actor. It's only consumable to mention is a spotter which for reasons given and on a ship with a 26+ km range is just... pointless! So personally I used the fighters instead because they reload quicker and can use them to peak over islands and smoke.

    General Submarines related discussions

You "scour the forum" do you? Well, that's an interesting way to pass time in our brief existence on this planet but it's a pity you didn't spend some of that time actually playing the game and learning how to, as to better understand what you're trying to now criticize others about and be less of a burden to whatever team is unfortunate enough to suffer you. Unless of course you think having less than 500 battles and a pitiful contribution to your team is something you now feel puts you in a strong and learned position to now post anything on this forum other than perhaps a question in the noob section?

    General Submarines related discussions

So when are those WG employees responsible for subs being suggested, created, agreed upon and added to the already bad game with a small playerbase being rightfully sacked for incompetency and gross negligence?
  22. Sir_Sinksalot

Why are submarines still not getting nerfed?

It's just another big poorly squeezed brainfart idea from this bunch of game devs that further degrades an already bad gaming experience, and lets be real, it really can't afford to be any worse! Let's put it this way, if the game wasn't free and needed a subscription to unlock higher tiers and all equipment slots etc, I'd be confident there'd be a dramatic plummet in the already small playerbase, left only with the most dedicated fanboys. They try and gloss over it with freebies, events and new content but it doesn't. Getting the discount voucher recently for a second steel ship got me back playing again(and no doubt plenty of other casuals) but not to worry WG devs, I'll soon be gone again since the dogshht gaming experience of imbalance is already starting to diminish my interest. If you want an insight into what games are popular and not popular, look no further than a brief glance at Twitch views to see what games have the biggest following and not. WoWS would be right down the bottom of Davy Jones locker in that regards. It seems to have a small dedicated fanbase of players that are not respected and repeatedly shht on like this. They deserve better but equally, just like any abusive relationship, if you're willing to put up with it instead of leaving, then have no complaints either. @Devs. Do you know that currently the only viable counter to subs is to simply change flanks to avoid it? How pitifully sad a game is that? Before the battle even starts and before a single ship is spotted or shots fired, an entire flank is already abandoned and surrendered and will remain so for as long as the submerged bell-end is alive. If there's a sub on each flank, the vast majority of players just hang back. Meanwhile another class that can't be countered, CV's, is floating redline and farming away with impunity, where the only inconvenience is the rate at which his aircraft respawn. Great game, truly.

Which tier 9 BB to choose?

I like the Iwami. Not sure it's the best from those 3, but it's delivered some very strong battles and has that very nice premium ship status with all the benefits that come with that. Personally I feel it needed one more twin gun turret but it's probably fine as an 8 gun ship. It just feels a bit under-gunned after playing the 10 gun Amagi at T8 or the 9 gun same tier Izuma but I supposed it makes up for that gun deficit by having superior gun range, sigma, concealment, reload, gun angles, HP, secodaries, 8X20km torpedoes, rudder shift and AA... ya it's probably making up for it ^^.

So - three days - what's it going to be?

Thanks. Ya as mentioned, I would have loved to have had enough steel to also get the Incomparable for reason you mention. I do enjoy my UK BB's and find the St.V a really fun ship which I'd guess kinda has a similar playstyle to the Incomparable? Well, at least that's the way I play the St.V anyway. It has reasonably big hard hitting cannons on fast turrets, a shorter gun range than Conq and thrives at flanking and shotgunning ships, is fast, squishy but the citadel is under the waterline and has a speed booster so while it certainly takes punishment and doesn't have strong armor, it is very trollish and hard to heavily damage it... plus that UK insta-respawn heal. Another reason I went with the Shiki, apart from being the safer and more conservative choice for a noob like me, is my 21 point Yamamoto captain now covers 4 different tiers of IJN BB's so this Shiki is going to see active use in T10 game modes whereas I didn't have that option before since Yamamoto's default is now in command of Satsuma. So now this one commander captains the very fun and Bourgo-like Hyuga at T7, the Iwami at T9(I don't play it sec build), the Shiki at T10 and the Sats at T11. T8 is covered by one of my most favorite BB's in the game, the Amagi which currently has it's own commander but that's fine since Yamamoto's bonus perk for Grease the Gears is better served on BB's like Shiki and Sats where that extra 5% really helps those glacial turrets swing around, the Amagi is fine with the standard 20%. Hopefully in time I will either get enough doubloons or lucky enough to win a Kii and Mutsu or Ise and that would mean that Yamamoto covers all tiers from T6-T11 which is just very convenient obviously.
  25. Sir_Sinksalot

So - three days - what's it going to be?

Came back from a game-break to add Shiki to my collection. Lovely ship. 6 very accurate and fast reloading overmatching thunder weapons. Only played a couple of randos and a convoy battle for a quick try and was impressed. I'd already picked up Bourgo which is more lively ship due to a faster speed, speed boosters and the reload booster but the Shiki can pull an overmatching chin shot out of it's hat that these battles heavily saturated with noobs are just not expecting as they go bow-on thinking it's safe just to get chinned for 18k. I wasn't really interested in another German BB to bother with the Mecklenburg. I'm sure it's very different from other German BB's with those 16 small cal mains but I already have 4 tier10 German BB's, the Pommern, Bismarck, Odin, Tirpitz... and others. The only other BB available for steel and I was very very tempted by it, was the Incomparable. Just like Shiki It also has 6 big overmatching cannons and is a far more lively looking faster ship with faster turret traverse, speed boost and hydro but much shorter gun range and while the Shiki has those Yamato cheeks, the Incomparable is just a big floating soak sponge for pain so it's not like survivability was going to be a big improvement. If I had enough steel I'd have loved to take a chance on this BB too but I only had enough for one ship with the discount and I kinda wanted Shiki for a while after I got Bourgo.
