    OP newport

I think the main reason is because of the higher tier ships now coming down those corridors or rather, how destructive they are compared to the old T6 days, even if a player is using a T8 ship. On the old T6 Newport, indeed an experienced player would push up the left flank during that final spawn, tank a bit of damage and kill off the cruisers then get to work on the BB, then fall back and get to work on the remaining ships and "Boss" BB. The problem I see now is that we now face some very strong higher tier cruisers in that final wave which can cause a lot of damage very quickly and there's also a very tanky Gneisenau with God mode accuracy. All of these have better gun range plus bots seem to hard-focus players nowadays too so it's pretty difficult to try and do old flanking plays like before. Of course, the problem with retreating to the healing circle is that the heal isn't really that strong, the Gneisenau will still land pixel perfect hammer blows to your ship and all of these higher tier bots are very tanky bow-on if not just outright tanky anyway along with their higher tier levels of HP which means it's hard to kill enough of them before they overwhelm the remain players, unleashing their walls of torpedoes and ending the mission. Newport is a very strange phenomena though. Sometimes a team can win rather easily. Reasons? I don't know tbh. Just... better teams with Newport strong ships maybe? Thing is. Teams will always tend to get a few weak players and some pleb that dies early(and sometimes that pleb is me ), it's to be expected and accepted before you even click battle in ANY game mode, BUT, because Ops are random, we now also get teammates with ships that aren't really suitable or strong for a mission like Newport whereas before players knew what they were going to get for a mission and tended to pick their ships accordingly. So now it's not just a case of a few weak players, but also potentially some very weak ships for that mission too which just makes a difficult mission even harder when that happens.

So where is this survey that unlocks a peace of the map?

Is Tirpitz worth it if you have Bismarck?

Well, one thing that's changed in that regards and since posting that comment back in 2021 has been the inclusion of T8 ships in Ops. So now there's a more challenging and arguably more fun PvE mode compared to just drooling about moronically in Co-op(missions not withstanding). This is an important factor because it now means there's another genuinely viable reason for considering the purchase of not just Tirpitz but ANY T8 premium ship these days other than their just their PvP prowess. The only problem now is the randomness of the actual Ops missions themselves but certainly for a tanky perma-top tier sec build BB like the Tirpitz, will be as universally strong across all Ops missions as one could hope for. The new Ops missions will occasionally give rise to highlighting the differences between Bismarck and Tirpitz however, since there's some missions that spawn a lot of dangerous DD's where having Bismarcks hydro would be comforting, and some missions that spawn waves of attacking aircraft where having the Bismarcks superior AA would might just translate into taking less damage or indeed the escorted mission ship.

    Hall of Fame: Summer Heat

I could tell from the stat sites that the Marseille was a very strong damage dealing cruiser and some players have been either praising or crying over the Schlieffen's sec battery for a while now(depending on which side of the sec guns you're sitting lol)) so both of these ships come as no surprise in their popularity or stats(and hence why I've been grinding them)) plus I like German BB sec builds anyway)) and the French "all forward" gun ships are sexy). What was a surprise to me was the popularity and effectiveness of the Jinan and A Regolo. I think I've seen the Jinan feature in only a few ranked battles lately and the odd random battle, with mixed outcomes so far as it's effectiveness(mostly bad!) and I can't ever remember encountering an A Regolo DD, were mostly Shima's, Gearings and of course, most all the steel+coal DD's such as Ragnars, Blacks, Shermans, Marceu's, Neustras...

    British BB lines

I would say both the St V and Conq are worthy of their grind for the interesting playstyle and blend of attributes and failings they come. What are you looking for in a ship that would make you consider it "worth it" or not? What I might tell you about some of these ship options in both lines that I would consider to be worth it might not be what you're looking for nor consider worth it lol.

    Best steel ship 2022

Probably the CV sadly, as is often the case as they mash their way through ranked and random battles with impunity so that would be the Roosevelt. As for an actual ship and not a floating airbase, I'd still be tempted by the allure of the Shiki. It just seems to address some of Yamato's failings with superior AA, faster reloading mains and superior dispersion along with better rudder shift. All of which means, at least in my head, that you get all of the Yamato overmatch big caliber potential(I know, even bigger guns) and big salvo memes along with a slightly more ballsy playstyle along with potentially more consistent salvos returns instead of the troll IJN lottery dispersion. That said I'm not suggesting it's the best of the bunch, just the one I'm drawn to the most right now. I'll also have the good taste not to vote on that I do not have.
  7. Hi guys, as title. So, the CV is totally stock right now after grinding through the Serov. Never did figure out the best approach with the Serov so time to get a bit more serious. Right, a few questions. 1. Which aircraft should be upgraded first. Aka, which aircraft is the main source of damage dealing with this CV? 2. Is there any particular target class that best suits this type of CV, aka, BB's or cruiser etc? 3. What are the essential skills for the commander to focus on first for most benefit? I have a 15 point commander for it. 4. Any other tips for extracting the most out of this CV welcome. 5. Edit- Also, equipment slot suggestions!! :)) Thanks.

Help with Pobeda Setup(For Ops and Co-op!!)

I can confirm(At least for Ops) After several battles "of discovery" the skip-bombers are indeed the most consistently reliable potent source of damage dealing. The upgraded skip-bombers have higher penetration and here's the thing about the skip-bomber package that offers the most potential. As a T8 CV, you're obviously top tier in this latest iteration of Ops and what that means is many of the bot ships are at worst equal tier but mostly lower tier to T6(I think) and what that means is their fire resistance % is relatively low to the high fire % chance of the skip-bombers bombs. Well, you can already figure how that's going to translate. First volley sets usually at least 1 or 2 fires, they get extinguished and then the second serving causing perma-fires for a fair amount of time and damage. Also, because of the increased penetration on the upgraded skip-bombers bombs, light cruisers are now eating full damage and the T6 bot CV are actually getting citadeled by them too. As suggested I invested in aircraft HP and given the above pyromancer expectations I also felt it was worth adding an addition +5% fire chance to the bombs(and comes with +1% to rockets). Needless to say this pyromancy scumbaggery would most likely also be a potent serving in PvP modes. The rocket attacks are punchy too and have a reasonable fire starting chance if mid-scouting duty, a choice target should be discovered, depleting it of a repair team consumable and paving the way for the soul crushing skip-bomber follow up soon after. All in all, it's actually pretty decent so far even if the only thing upgraded is the skip-bombers.
  9. I've found the Baltimore to be a surprisingly fun and Ops friendly cruiser as I grind my towards the Buffalo. Those 3 new Ops missions feature sneaky ninja DD's that ain't hung up about sitting in smoke(lol) so being able to hit those with a radar for almost half a minute is really really nice and helps greatly towards keeping teammates alive along with mission objectives. It also has a choice of hydro or improved AA for the other consumable and for now I've gone with the improved AA since those 3 new missions all have waves of bot aircraft at some stages so it's nice to be able to slap some of those down a bit quicker instead of taking as much damage or eating a bomb or torpedo too many. Guns are a bit short on range and bit slow on velocity but it only needs a minor adjustment in playstyle and they hit hard plus the cruiser itself is pretty tanky. Ya, tanky T8 radar cruiser with AA booster = good

Will it be able to identify the difference between those who should be compensated and those who do not? After all, if it's a bug then it probably wasn't within the program to save details of each and every round a player played in which they were wrongly rewarded. Personally I can't remember how I was rewarded after each game of Warship Strike and just played away oblivious tbh. Also on a separate note, I still need 3 pieces of that anniversary map to complete it. Should I have more done at this point or is 3 missing pieces about right so far?

Ever been on the real ship?

I was on the HMS Titanic once.
  12. Personally I wasn't tempted to make it my first choice Steel ship. I already have a plethora of German sec build BB's including two T10's, one of which is the premium status GK which is now a coal ship of coarse. In the battles I encountered it I think I've seen it perform well once and that was when it was reduced to a HE spammer at long range setting ships on fire. Even at that the HE penetration is poor by German HE standards and way beneath that of the Preussen, GK and Schlieffen which would be dealing penetration damage too and not just damage from fires so arguably what the Meck managed to clock up in damage, the other German options would have dealt more in the same position. It has lots of mains and superior range to the other mentioned German T10 BB's and BC BUT, they're rather wimpy, lose penetration at long range to rather tragic levels, lose shell velocity more and that caliber really doesn't overmatch a whole lot so... I just didn't see where it was going to be a fun ship to play other than occasionally making a broadside cruiser eat a full salvo and that WOULD be fun lol! But would that be most the time or only some of the time? I suspect the latter. Sure, great players will do great things but are you a great player? I know I'm not so I need to factor that when I purchase a ship or take on a new line.

    Your Guide to Reworked Operations

Ya it can be very difficult to win under these new Ops offerings. Plenty of losses regardless of dropping in 200-300k+ dmg and lots of kills and playing as sensibly as possible and understanding spawns etc. Thing is though, it's ALMOST THERE. It wouldn't take much to get this right on the sweet spot of balance and hopefully the devs are making those little tweaks behind the scenes. That's all it needs and just some of them, little tweaks and at certain phases of the missions, not wholesale changes or overkill that would ruin the challenge since nobody wants mind-numbingly easy modes in a game either like tragic Co-op. Thing is though, because the missions don't factor the remaining ships during each phase of spawning bots(or to be more accurate, those remaining ships tiers), it's very difficult to carry if your higher tier teammates die and tbh they might have died not doing anything much wrong since these bots tend to hard-focus players with unbreaking dedication to the cause lol! But, if the next phase of the battle is approaching, the game should really be factoring the remaining players tiers before spawning bots and make sensible little adjustments to what tier those bot ships are. That way, if all that's left on the team is a couple of T6 ships, then there's no point is launching a North Carolina and waves of higher tier cruisers and DD's with Matrix levels of precision is there? There's an enjoyably difficult challenge that satisfies our competitive drive, and then there's taking the pis* with what's basically an unwinnable situation.

    weekend hell

39% win rate, yikes! Well, I'm certainly not a great player and don't know all the ins and outs of this game yet but if I was getting slapped around the map that frequently for what's probably every single battle I'd simply have no fun and be pis*ed off all the time, aka, I'd not bother with it, it would bring me no joy. I'd just play Ops or Co-op or maybe not even bother with the game at all, find something I might be ok at and enjoy instead. So I have to wonder what people with that level of one sided beat-downs get out of it. Is that fun? How? Well, there's people with disabilities and all those types of things that play games too, and good luck obviously, power to them, BUT, if they're perfectly normal people of able body and mind, holy shhh that's bad!

    The Unique Bonuses container

When I saw the title "Unique bonus container" I was under the impression I was going to see a code for a unique bonus container. I feel misled and wronged.

    Pan Asian Cruisers

Missing? Well from your list I would say - Low HP - Frail - Has a citadel unlike a DD so gets extra blapped when turning. All that said, I've found them a bit of occasional fun on Ops before Ops became incredibly difficult to win. So, while I used to like a bit of the P-A firecracker chicken boats(wait was that racist? nah... well it wasn't suppose to be anyway)), now I feel almost obliged to play something that's usually at least T7 or T8 and usually as strong a ship as I can put forward, thus effectively retiring the P-A cruisers to simply being pretty looking eye candy in the port. They would have got a run occasionally in Co-op too for certain missions but even those tend to have better choice cruisers these days. That said, I think there's one mission left that warrants brushing the barnacles of the P-A cruisers, and that's main battery strikes using a cruiser. If there's a mission that requires a high volume of main artillery hits with a cruiser, then they can be one of the best options to get close to a big meaty target with some last on it, pop that crawling smoke thingy and just spam those firecrackers. They used to be decent for setting ships on fire missions too and still not bad but there's other cruisers with better range and better ballistics that make up for their inferior RoF with superior reach, hit rate and fire % chance that encompass more targets and do the job more reliably. Also with co-op, it's usually a race to complete your missions before your DD brigade inevitably shotgun torp every target one the map.

On the road to Halland...Skane, Oland & cie

I was also lured into trying these European DD's for the extra fast torpedoes and thought there was fun to be had. A caveat here however, I'm not much of a DD player in PvP modes and usually have the good taste not to burden my team with that level of DD ineptitude apart from a few outings. The Oland has quick reloading torpedoes, that's the main positive and the stock torpedoes can be trimmed down to about a 53 second reload which is pretty quick and makes it a bit more active than some other torpedo boats. Sure, those torps don't deal much damage but it's more about the fun of trying to strike ships with 84knt torpedoes as often as possible. However that "Fun" quickly goes south since dealing small amounts of damage occasionally is all that fun and it only launches 6 torps max. Here's the thing I disliked about most of these European torp boats however. 1. They're mostly slow at around 35knts. 2. That's not a big deal if they had good concealment but they only have mediocre concealment compared to other torp boat options. 3. That's not a big deal if they had smoke, they don't have smoke. 4. That's not a big deal if they had viscous firepower, they don't. 5. That's not a big deal if they launched lots of hard hitting torpedoes, they don't. 6. That's not a big deal if those torps hit like nukes, they don't. 7. That's not a big deal if torps reload ultra-fast to compensate, they don't. 8. That's not a big deal if they had access to torpedo reload boaster, they don't. 9. That's not a big deal if they had 20km range torpedoes to keep that above sht-show of failings as far away from most enemies as possible, they don't. If I could remedy one of the above failings it would be that they should all have either come with really fast reloading torps as standard(and I mean 30-40 seconds!) or failing that, access to the torpedo reload boaster which has a faster cooldown. As they are, meh... just no. Not when there's the IJN torp boats that are pretty much all enjoyable to grind through and finish with the Shima, or even find that happy medium with the Gearing which is arguably better than the Shima.

    Lag and continuous micro-freezing

Where can we change the in-battle fps settings? I saw the excellent thread featuring the option to do so in-port via the preferences file, and did change it to 40fps which stops my PC fan blowing like an angry hovercraft when not playing battles but is that possible for battle settings too?
  21. Sir_Sinksalot

    Lag and continuous micro-freezing

For me the issue turned out to be some mega sized windows update being automatically downloaded in the background. Thing is though, I kinda guessed that's what it might be because it happens every time there's big windows update. I thought I disabled that in the settings but I guess not and probably still won't because I just can't be arsed trying to find where that setting was again.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]

Sorry let me word that better. If a player buys a new T10 ship during the event, do they get an additional SC for that ship too or does the free SC's only apply to the T10 ships a player has BEFORE the event starts?

Will not play a broken game

Well, that explains what I was encountering. I thought it was just network issues even though the game flowed normally otherwise so was a bit confused by what was happened. Fix it fast for goodness sake. The previous broken was less broken than that alternative "fixed" offering lol.
