Just too many sh** players on one team that either die really early practically as soon as they get spotted or else the type that does f all for the entire battle apart from running away and/or hiding. What do such players get from it? I have no idea but while I can be terrible myself on any given battle, if I was that terrible each and every single battle then like I said before I'd just stop playing because being whipped every battle and being one the major contributors to that loss isn't my idea of having a good time and I'd just go try and find fun in some other game mode or some other game. It would just annoy me too much.

T5 ranked: Anyone else enjoying it?
Sir_Sinksalot replied to LiveWire___'s topic in General Discussion
Not really no. Personally I don't have a problem with T10 ship ranked(without featuring T11 that is). The T5 ships are pretty fun but there's been way too many battles spoiled by teams featuring players that are botting, going afk, yoloing and just being a complete clueless bell-end, all of which has been frustrating and kills off what should be a fun little T5 tussle. -
What's not to understand? Let me break it down for you then. I'm not being some pay to win T11 CV players b*tch as I play my T10 ships in ranked in exchange for eventually getting enough steel for a nice steel reward BB "for free", which in turn is still going to be some T11 players b*tch in random battles. At least when Ranked didn't feature T11, there was a feeling of parity to the tune of all ships being T10 vs T10 and at least one outlet where a T10 ship could once again play without being downtiered. That's no longer the case and if this is the regular MM for T10 ships in ranked battles for the foreseeable future(which remains to be seen), then coupled with the already T11 sh-show in random battles it raises the question of what's the point of bothering with steel ships at all since they're now no longer the treasured grails they once were, and steel for that matter. Also "Complete free in just a few years!!". In gaming terms, years is a long time and especially when it's a pretty regular investment throughout those years playing each and every ranked sprint. So imho it should see better than getting kicked in the balls by a T11 credit ship at the end of that long road. For me, that's just not good enough for the invest time and effort. After all, Steel is the rarest and as such supposed the most valued form of game currency, even something doubloons and money can't buy. Steel must be earned and grinded and not very common. So having to get screwed by T11 ships at the end of all that with the most rare and precious resource in the game just doesn't befit the status of the currency nor the ships attributed to that currency. Now, that's just my take on it, other players will see it differently. We are all entitled to our opinion and contrasting opinions can be right in their own way so long as the points are valid and based on truths.

T5 and T7 Tech-tree suggestions for ranked battle?
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Ya I'd agree. I'm hating it tbh and ya, 9/10 battles where the enemy team has a Kamikaze that team wins which reeks of pay2win. The only ships I've found to be somewhat useful so far are. 1. T-22 German DD. Really nice little boat. Hydro as other pointed out, what a great gain that is and since the standard of gaming is really bad I often just get to within that 4km hydro detection of enemy DD's sitting in smoke before sitting in smoke myself and just farming them like a mini-radar ship lol. Obviously that spots incoming torpedoes too and any ship that gets a bit too aggressive. Sadly because I'm bad, I tend to eat a torpedo now and then anyway lol but overall it's stood out as a shinning star amidst a lot of turd-boat options. Excellent concealment rating and guns seem decent too, 7.5km torps are workable range for it's concealment and feature very decent angles... just a bit sluggish to react to instructions lol. 2. Exeter. To be fair to the Emerald the Emerald does have smoke which the Exeter doesn't and I'm sure is also a great cruiser but the Exeter is a premium ship, not sure how I got it but what that meant is I can just pop in a decent commander without having to waste commander skill points retraining him for the Emerald. 8km fast reloading torps, hydro, good concealment, punchy guns which also have a decent fire chance HE option for BB's which at T5 tend to catch fire easily enough plus lots of lowly trained commanders with noobs using BB's so... it's been a nice boat and decent at hunting and killing DD's too. 3. Kirov. A very risky play because of it's high citadels but if you're a good player unlike me then there's a lot of potential in those really punchy guns which it features 9 of unlike the similar ship Mikoyan which only has 6. Hydro and Russian shotgun torps of course. -
Resetting all captains- Can not find it
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
Oh, and as for non-sec BB commanders, I usually go with this. Depending on how squishy the ship is and at what sort of range it's played at or if it features torps or if it's tanky or not tanky I will have Preventative Maintenance instead of Incoming Fire Alert and visa versa. Also, if I will swap Grease the Gears for something else depending on how slow the turrets are, and visa versa. But the 3 and 4 skill options always tend to remain the same for my non-sec BB's. So what you see in the screenshot above will be much the same as my North Carolina or my Republique or Conqueror etc. -

The difficulty I'm having is deciding if there's a cut-off point on the requirement for IFHE on my German BB's. Where do you guys think the line should be drawn on that? As of now, I've gone with. T7 - Prinz Heinrich - No IFHE. Sure, it can and WILL see T9 cruisers, some of which feature 30mm armor around their mid-hulls. Thing is though, it also see's a lot of T8, T7 and even T6 and T5 cruisers which tend to feature lots of 20mm sides and 16mm bow/sterns in which the 105mm sec guns are fine with their standard 26mm pen and will obviously pen anything rolling with 25mm sections armor too. So, while it would be down some punch against some T9 cruisers, that's not going to be the majority of cruisers in the battle and so, for that reason I feel the 2 point option was better served on Vigilance to try and offset torpedoes which a lot of things tend to have. That said, I don't play the PH or T7 very often so it's basically just for comp. Since the current ranked feature T7 as TOP TIER, that's even less reason to give an F about IFHE, since well, it ain't gonna see even T8 let alone T9 ships so the increased fire chance and 2 points invested elsewhere will probably be the better choice. This commander needs 4 more points and at that point will be invested in Emergency Repair Expert. T8 - Bismarck - 50/50 call. What do you guys think? Right now I've gone with IFHE because while it does see T8-T6 battles occasionally, it still see's regular T9 battles and even T10 battles not so rare. Therefore I think it will just see too many 30mm plates which makes IFHE more beneficial than Vigilance. T9+T10. Pommern and Schlieffen. I've moved Lutjens from the Preussen to my newly acquired Schlieffen and repurchased the Pommern recently too. The Preussen, like the GK, is blessed with secondaries which all have 32mm+ pen as standard so this allowed me the luxury of having a German BB commander without IFHE which meant I could have faster turrets on both of those BB's instead which was great because they were slow turrets. The Schlieffen however, and the Pommern for that matter, still roll with lots of the old T8, T7 style 105mm secondaries with 26mm and so, at these tiers, it just has to be IFHE, no argument. This means sacrificing turret speed though, which makes the Pommern a bit of a pain in the backside and it isn't blessed with good mains which only feature mediocre pen so sadly reducing those lots of mains fire starting chance by half is not a great deal, at least for that particular BB. For the Schlieffen however, all is fine since her turrets still traverse respectably quick even without Grease the Gears, same as Bismarck sort of territory, workably acceptable.. -
So I decided to give the Huron a quick run. Is it just me or...
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Was it this game or some other game where there was a ship with weapons that operated entirely automatically like where there was no mains as such and just shot at enemy ships automatically with it's secondaries? I think it was this game though.... maybe it was some other mode because I can't remember any tech-tree ship doing that. Also, I'm fully aware of the flaw in calling what's effectively mains as secondaries since the term "second" suggests there's a first, primary or in this case "mains". But you get the point, it was some sort of ship where there was NO manual control of the guns and acted like the secondary gun system... was it a Halloween ship?? I think it was! I think that might have been fun if I recall too, but not that boring mode I played yesterday, it was the one racing between pillars or buildings or something like that. I think it was a PvP mode. -

Does a ship with clearly 4 gun turrets with just 3 working look kinda stupid? I'm sure you're all familiar with the term "All guns blazing!" well, when one gun turret just sits there motionless amidst a life or death brawl doing sweet fanny adams, it doesn't really set the tone of a ship that really cares about winning. Right, well, glad that highly stressful niggle's off my back. Ok so the reason for this emasculated turret is most likely for balance reasons, fine, BUT, how about just reduce the damage per shell for the Huron so that the 3X2 dmg output = 4X2 dmg output and at least that way the all the turrets are working and the ship looks like there isn't someone asleep at the job or that the crew are trying to be really economical with ammo usage. It didn't really come across as a strong or fun DD regardless of how many gun turrets are working though so maybe it makes no odds since I probably won't end up playing it much, even if I get an "Orca" camo for it.(A killer whale, pffff, don't flatter yourself you 3 gun turret working fraud!)) -

What is the point of playing "Saving Transylvania" (and next week "Sunray in the Darkness") operations right now?
Sir_Sinksalot replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Camo's are ok if they're perma? I obtained a 3D Halloween type skin for my T9 Yugumo ages back but I'm not sure if it was from the Halloween event or just something I won from God knows what. -

Ya I played one battle and didn't see any sort of mission pacification to suggest completing the mission successfully actually counted towards anything. We dropped 2 stars however so maybe it needs a better winning result. There's no real draw to play it again though. It's a case of one and done. Hopefully there's a rewarded reason to play it again. -
I already tried subs when they were first introduced. They were both terrible to play with clumsy controls with a playstyle that featured large amounts of boring doing nothing at all that simply didn't gel with pace and style of this game and were overall rather useless to a team in most cases, with little moments of extremely broken and over powered ship smashing memes that were terribly unfair to the target and yet still a pretty poor return overall when compared to what I'd have achieved with other ship classes. I can't imagine that's changed in any way since then and personally I have no further interest with them, never really did so politely

It's a cruiser I regret not getting instead of Petro which I just do not like and find boring but I've unlocked the Buffalo recently so nearly there. Speaking of which I recall my "Over powered!" Petro also got comfortably spanked by a DM in ranked a few sprints ago. We stumbled upon each other between islands on the way to contest a cap at medium range where there wasn't enough time to try and rush him to get flanks nor enough time to try and work a retreat of some kind without giving him my sides. So we were both bow-on 1 vs 1 which I still felt pretty good about since the Petro is a bow-tanking cruiser but his insane DPM just spam-fked the sht out of my slow reloading "over powered" Russian turd that simply lost the damage dealing race. I think he just spammed HE at my superstructure, was both penning and getting fires etc. I'd love to have another go at that but I just don't think the Petro has the DPM to ever win that fight. I needed to get his side or citadel him through his bow but I don't think that's possible to do through the bow even with the extremely punchy high-pen guns of the Petro? Should or could a Petro win a bow-on fight against a masterfully well angled DM? Good play is good play, bad play is bad play. He played good and I guess my bow-tanking play was bad, so I just tipped my hat to him and said to myself "f*** this slow reloading peace of shhh!" and moved onto the next battle. DM is also pretty agile looking, can lob shells over islands with ease, fast reloading as mentioned, great concealment and like... 46 seconds of radar. Seems like a very useful cruiser. When I catch a DM out in the open with a BB, ya, they get wrecked most the time but nowhere as much as UK cruiser which take citadels from a gust of wind off a passing shell. So it seems like an island warrior and somewhat tragic if caught in open waters, but then again, most cruisers are kinda like that. Only difference is, the DM seems like a really REALLY good island warrior.

I just noticed gold league includes T11 ships. Well, what that means is I'll now 100% purposefully not progress beyond silver league and @devs, you're game isn't fun enough or popular enough for that sort of reckless meddling. Thanks. What's the problem you might ask. Well, while some players might have infinite stacks of credits, personally I don't and I'm not blowing 57 million credits on some T11 ship with unsustainably high economical running costs just to have a terrible gaming experience where I get dumped on by some redline hero with his OP as fork T11 CV. Undoubtedly like any random form of battle, X amount of battles will already be complete write-off losses due to massively imbalanced teams which is already bordering on being excessively annoying all by itself even before we factor adding negative running costs AND T11 CV's wrecking every surface ship with impunity. Sure, I could just play T10 ships in gold league but in such a small battle format that's basically just being some hp piñata, always playing second fiddle to the T11 show and let's be honest, the rewards simply aren't good enough to justify suffering all of what's mentioned and losing that much credits, most likely requiring a premium account if a player walks a fine line with their credit situation after purchasing a T11 ship.

Halloween: Nightmare Operations
Sir_Sinksalot replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
@Seraphice I like the themed commanders. Perhaps consider assigning these Halloween commanders to different nations and rewarding them to participating players as 6 point regular commanders after the event is over for use on normal ships? I know it's only an image for what's effectively just a regular commander but even so, they're fun and a nice alternative to pop into a ship instead of the national commander option. -
Well, I want the steel and doubloons so lets get on with another offering of some ulcer inducing fun.
-
Well, you do inadvertently raise the very valid question of what's the point in WG devs sending out these meme-sub surveys when the vast majority of feedback is undoubtedly going to be a massively negative and over-dramatized response which doesn't actually fairly reflect a players encounters with and against subs, which WG devs will ultimately ignore and drive on with anyway. It's kinda like asking "Now, we've inserted an unusually large variety of garden gnome in your backside, please let us know your experience with that" and then they take that feedback and change the color of the gnomes hat in the next patch "There, we've taken your feedback and made the necessary improvements"

That smacks of something a doctor would say when they're informing a person they're going to have to lose their legs or something.

Hi. If I recall, there was mentions of the following 2 things lost somewhere in the muddle of constant updates and vids so I can't remember with certainty... 1. I have vague recollections of some mention of a free commander skill reset which was to feature around the same time of this submarine update. 2. I also have vague recollections from some WoWS vid I glanced a while back from the developers. They mentioned I think, a free T6 premium ship to play for during the current anniversary event based on either the Repulse or Renown(I think) that was much the same only features better AA or something to that effect. Well, there you have it. I'm not sure where or when I glanced or heard the above two points, but hopefully someone else can remember and if this is true or not.

Lighthouse Auction: Belfast and Superships
Sir_Sinksalot replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Maybe the Belfast should be renamed the Sellfast? I'll show myself out... -
BP would be a good addition based on my experience of it in WoT(I've pretty much stopped playing WoT btw but for other reasons). The reason for that is all players will get a sht-ton of free stuff simply for playing as normal but being a business it obviously features a premium upgraded option for cash or gold(doubloons) too, that comes with extra items but there's generally not a massive difference other than gaining extra BP tokens for the BP vehicles featured which initially is what players are usually crazed about "Gotta get the new tank!! I have a million great tanks already which I barely ever play but I gotta get this one NOW!!!". Those kinda people lol. Even if you don't pay for the premium upgrade version of BP, a player will still gather enough tokens to buy that BP vehicle but it just takes longer and that's the catch. For me it wasn't a problem since I don't get drawn in by gimmicks and shiny lights and big noises, but it does mean you will have to wait until probably the next iteration of BP a few months later in order to amass enough tokens via the F2P standard version. Can you wait 3 months before getting a new ship? Or maybe 6 months? Well, if you can't then you're going to be paying for it with money. If you can wait, then you will eventually get it for free whenever you get enough tokens. That's basically how the WoT BP plays out and looking at the screenshot, the WoWS version looks much the same thing. So you really shouldn't be annoyed by this until it's better understood how the WoWS version is going to translate and consider it like getting extra free stuff on top of what you currently already get along with periodically getting a free T9 BP ship(Or whatever tier WG are going to decide on for WoWS). Also worth mentioning, the BP WoT tanks are NOT premium vehicles and don't come with premium tank levels of economy. I'd expect the BP ships to be no different. They just feature the ability to universally transfer commanders from that nation the same way a premium vehicle does, and have a perma-free large repair kit which is an exclusive feature to the BP tanks. For everything else though, it's the same economy as a regular tech-tree tank. Finally, so far the BP tanks have mostly not been over-powered carrots for donkeys to chase and are mostly average or "decent" tanks(and some rather meh). Hopefully that will be the case with BP ships too.

The coal ship next to it is one of many fun-killing reasons not to buy it.
