What, in 'layman's terms' is a compression mod? Just out of curiosity? I'm willing to try anything at this point though; starting to learn cv now about 20 Random Battles in and all that AA fire etc is sometimes killing my game making it completely unplayable. I never had serious issues before, aside from having to restart my client once in a while after task manager told me it was using more than 3.2gb of RAM (not sure if that was the cause but it seemed to be a good indicator of SOMETHING having built up that was bad... possibly heat since I know i could use another fan or two and it's the hottest time of year here. I tried the NVIDIA power mode setting from best power use to best performance and that just overheated me i am fairly sure. Now i'm trying this shadercache fiddling someone recommended. Maybe I should install this fix first though since I wouldnt be surprised if it did some of that?

Here is another thread with suggestions for helping lag: https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/180190-fix-fps-stuttering-loading-times/ it suggests some shadercache adjustments that may improve many things, possibly including the slow u.i. Has anyone tried this?

Apparently the skills are not there, cause I can't think of any other reason to leave such an extremely annoying waste of time, crap u.i. in place. Like seriously it's as though we are choosing slower internet rather than fast here... who wants to waste more of their free time waiting for things to load? Life is short, and "you can't spend money to make time... only time to make money," or can you spend money to make time; if you spend money on making things faster?!? Anyway, I was searching for a fix to this problem, thinking it was my computer, or my internet... but everyone i talked to in-game and everything i've read on forums now, indicates it's a "feature". -_- Which is extremely unprofessional for a non-beta game. Heck, i've played many betas that were better. I can't think of a single released game I have played with this sort of issue (and I've been playing, like it was a full-time-job, online [team] games, strategy games, RPGs etc, for 20+ years; since i upgraded from dial-up to "fast" internet). Here is another thread with suggestions for helping lag: https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/180190-fix-fps-stuttering-loading-times/ it suggests some shadercache adjustments that may improve many things, possibly including the slow u.i. Has anyone tried this? I tried this: https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/32673-tutorial-setting-higher-performance-for-nvidia-graphics-cards-in-world-of-warships/ switching the power settings in NVIDIA panel for warships... it just made my comp overheat, but maybe someone with proper cooling and not living somewhere without AC in middle of hottest part of summer might have success with it. Here i talk about it some more: https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/114707-fps-from-120-to-40-gpu-usage-30/

I tried the power usage tip as seen here: but it just made my computer overheat apparently and that KILLED my fps down to 15ish and my ping went totally wonky from usual 35 to 150 up to 5000 spiking all over the place... now it could be i dont have enough fans, and it is the hottest time of the year here (no air conditioning/cooling since it's only 1-2 weeks of hot time where i live), so maybe this trick would work if i could keep it cool enough, but i still have the command delay issue when i go to mouse over some buttons or whatever in the u.i. (mostly in port this happens), and it shouldnt have heated up my comp yet if i just started it and the game up and my RAM use hasnt even gone above 3gb yet... so that seems to be something different (the cmd delay)
-
Pretty sure I don't have any of that, so my command delay 1-2 seconds in port must be something else (many people i played with on EU server also say they have this problem). I notice in my memory use that if it stays under 3gb then it is less laggy, but when it begins creeping up past 3.4gb it starts to become almost unplayable, and at 4gb+ i have to restart the client to be able to play (this is in win 7). I've just read this thread: https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/32673-tutorial-setting-higher-performance-for-nvidia-graphics-cards-in-world-of-warships/ and so I'm going to try the power trick, but i have only small hopes it will fix everything... seems likely I will have to do some other fiddling like people mention in this thread: https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/180190-fix-fps-stuttering-loading-times/ I've not had problems in any other games btw. The only game I had this kind of issue with one time was Verdun back when it was just released (it has since fixed itself somehow). Running an Athlon II 3.4gz, 8gb RAM, with ASUS GeForce GTX660 Ti (2gb i think?) My HD is old/slow but it usually works ok, and when I fixed my windows virtual memory setting from using only auto-300mb to a fixed page file of 16gb... that did help some... but not enough, not all the time. maybe 1/4 of my games I get some weird lag at times, and in port it is almost unbearable, almost all the time (using the basic Ocean port, or any port is about the same).

Can Karma go into negative figures?
Dracosophy replied to Drunken_Jedi's topic in General Discussion
So does Karma have a time-out or expiration? I was up to 7 points then dropped to 5 then to 4 for no apparent reason recently... i guess either my points were 2 weeks old or i annoyed someone with my speaking english in the EU game-chat (after dead)? -
it is just such a versatile ship, i'm not sure if I should stay versatile with upgrades, skills, & signal flags or focus in one area. Or is this just player choice here? My captain only has 4 skillpoints now: skills: prevent. maint. + Expert Marksman What skill should I get next? p.target?, Last Stand?, Survivability Expert (1800 hp?), Torpedo Arm. Expert (-10% reload off that 96s?), Demolition Exp. (2% fire chance?), Superintendent (+1 consumable... seems a good skill after others already locked in)? For other stuff I usually use: signal flags: all of the 3 +fire/flood chance for my weapons, +AA dmg, -100% detonate, & consumable reload time -5% upgrades: 1. Main Armaments Modification 1 (disable resist/repair speed), 2. Main Battery Modification 2 (turret turn speed) , 3. Aiming Systems Modification 1 (acc. torp turn etc, 2ndary bonus' etc), 4. Rudder speed mod I'm doing okay with the ship so far 5-2 (Win-Loss). St. Louis & WICKES seem to be my other good win rate ships at the moment with 9-4 and 6-0.

Is there an updated review of this somewhere besides https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Perth ? I'm newish (I started about July 2nd, 2019), and Perth is my highest Tier ship, so I'm struggling with trying to figure out upgrades, captain skills and signals to use within the current meta. I learn quickly and have a reasonable set of stats from what I can see compared to others... of course with room for improvement if I ever stop playing random battle uhg-pubs, i'm sure. i'm a teamwork player and I love surprise, versatility, efficiency, and unique stuff... even more if it's something most people say is too difficult to pull off effectively (I like a challenge, and play most games on Hard or just below Hardest-mode). Maybe I just need to play the ship more and decide for myself what style I want to use, then adjust my 'stuff'? So far the Wickes, St. Louis, Caledon, V-25, and Longjiang have been what I win the most with. St. Louis and versatile cruisers in general being my favorites, though I do enjoy the satisfaction of destroyer/battleship play some too. I am usually not bad at it given a sneaky/dodgey/tough enough ship AND with at least one teammate who knows how, and/or is willing to sail in formation (i.e. use teamwork and partner up), but it seems to me like one advantage of some cruiser gameplay is that I can pick someone to support and not have to rely on a pub. stranger listening or coordinating with me (I get maybe 1 person in every 3-4 games who reads & responds to what I type in team-chat so far in Tier 2-6ish random battle... I hope this gets better at higher Tiers but someone I asked told me it didn't realy =\)
