Hi guys I'm thinking of returning to the game after a long break although I'm not sure? I haven't played for quite a long time save one of two games around 6 months ago I'm kind of of busy and generally can jump on WOT or planes for quick session but playing WOWS I remember getting interrupted a lot due to the long length of battles sometimes 20 mins is this still the case? Carriers where annoying are they still as dominant? I do remember a few times getting detonated almost at spawn does this still happen are the spotting mechanics still strange, Are the new Submarines making the game less campy or much like the wheeled vehicles in WOT causing havok? Thanks in advance Disco

Dude I played in beta, I'm no expert but i know how to play DD especially and have 55% wins in my tier 8 destroyer...I can play if only i had a penny for every time i saw such an unimaginative response, based on what? your preconception that i suck at the game because i point out these massive flaws Agree to disagree and make an reasoned argument rather than through a thinly disguised insult. Just for one moment that i suck at this game does that make my opinion less valid? Oh and I just checked I'm 49% wins and your 48% wins, so clearly under your own logic, you are the one who's opinion should hold less validity L2p ha ha I still haven't re-installed Ships. I feel so uninspired and again as I said earlier this game feels like work and leaves me frustrated more than entertained i haven't got the will to grind higher as nothing seems appealing and i wont lower myself to play Aircraft Carriers, Battleships feel like a boring snore fest to me i just cant be bothered with un-challenging game play. Regardless of which i doubt i will ever return to WOWS If you feel the same way I highly recommend World of Warplanes, 1. You get to respawn, I forgot how good this feels. You actually get to have another go over and over. 2. There are no campers well they would fall from the sky or get shot down. 3. +/-1 match making only no two tier difference! 2. Its a relatively easy grind and high tiers are not to be feared in fact tier 10 is where some of the best game play can be had and it wont leave you broke. 3, Daily missions yield gold, premium time and premium planes World of warplanes had issues at its outset which are largely ironed out now. I think what makes it good is the fact that it has always been a "back burner" project and as a result Wargaming haven't screwed around with the game to the same extent. Simply, they haven't ruined it like they did with WOT and WOWS.... You have nothing to lose, we have a good community too. Here is an invite code that gives you 2 premium planes a tier 2 AR67 and Tier 3 Type 224 HELLOWARPLANES If you are tired of ships join us! -

At first the game seems like great fun, until you start climbing the tiers and realise the balance is astonishingly broken. I initially started out in Beta and still have my old Warships account from 2015, Never have I played a more poorly balanced game in my life. I stayed less than one week and i will explain why. 1. Balance is appalling you face ships two tiers higher than yourself, rarely will you ever be top tier. 2. You have toxic a mix of seasoned veterans and complete noobs (who tiered up too fast, but who can blame them it took less than 30 games to get to tier 8 with all free the boosters.) 3. WOWs seems to attract the worst player skill base I've ever seen. You see guys with 1000's of games who have no clue how to play. They soon become a burden to your team and cause loss after loss. Me record was 14 losses and one win. Even going AFK should yield better results. which shows how poorly implemented the match making and balance is in this game. Worst of all the clan guys all said that this is normal these days! 4. The 70+ hours a week player who can singlehandedly dominate a battle, worst of all clan or squad. It soon gets very boring as sailing for 3-5 mins to get into position, only to get obliterated by some no lifer who has literally thousands of games and 10,000 hours of game play, whom to compound the issue, has an incredibly tuned up captain, who possesses an uncanny ability to land all their shots from 20+km away, whilst all your shells seems to constantly miss.even at point blank. His shells are almost 100% accurate. Again, this equals very unbalanced and very unsatisfying games. 5. Two minutes into a battle you can see if you will win or lose and around 80% of the time there is almost nothing you can do about it (unless you are a dedicated no lifer) its no fun waiting 10 mins for the inevitable defeat.Oh and you cant bail from a battle without eventually getting a warning. With no respawn is it surpisisng that people just camp behind an island for 10 minutes without firing a shot? in my mind this equates to a failure in game design. It may as well just be a turret based game. 6. The fan boys talk about a very long learning curve, really? I played this game in beta, it was instinctive and quite easy and I can say, its very bad by comparison to the 1st incarnation. I for one cant see why any game should take months to master, unless it is a very poorly designed and poorly balanced game. 7. How many new players will stay around after being used as fodder for the no lifers, whom even worse have all the advantages. Wargaming pander to the no lifers, much like gambling companies who target addicts, as these repeat customer "whales" are happy to spend £100's at a time on a single package or ship. thus enhancing their pay to win. Also, if they own multiple top tier ships they get further advantages via blueprints meaning an even worse balance and putting advantage behind a huge grindwall. It like going Go karting with Lewis Hamilton, only he takes the 125cc racing kart whilst you have to make to with a peddle car, then he shouts noob "get good"every time he laps you! Don't even get me started on aircraft carriers, they dumbed down the easiest of all classes and now they can even kill destroyers which was previously virtually impossible without gallons of luck. Essentially Wargaming are a bunch of predatory amateurs, who use shady marketing practices and predatory marketing to target their best customers who are addicts. 100 hours in the game, then you begin to realise that this "battle royale" single life game mechanic is so poorly conceived. the game community has taken a plunge and the toxicity levels are rising due to player frustration. Playing a game should feel like fun, not like work Playing a game should leave you feeling better for having done so, not pi$$ed off and stressed. -

This ^ As a returning player after a 3 year break i can say that the game is in a very poor state by comparison. I had enough as for the last 3 days I only won a handful of games Worst of all the game is not particularity fun, like a slow motion train crash but without being interesting. Mainly for the reasons that others have described but from my point of view as a returning/new player my frustrations are mostly because the matchmaking and balance are so utterly appauling. I cant see any lines or ships that even appeal and i simply cant be arsed to research or grind any of these lackluster tech trees. I tried the new dumbed down aircraft carrier which is just crap in my opinion, its removed what little skill that was previously required to play this class. although i was never a fan of sky pigs in the 1st place. I actually uninstalled this game after 32 game run of defeats with 3 wins, one would think even going AFK would yield better results, something is very broken Going from 59% wins to 39% wins in a week is not going to make anyone stick around and the oft mentioned the slow/long learning curve is something i for one do not have the time and inclination to achieve...I've been here before with tanks, ships and planes. and was hoping the game would be similar to my experiences in beta. I cant tell you how disappointed I am with this game. We all know the drill, wargaming throw you a bone every now and then with a victory or two but on the whole you are plagued by either poor teams or seasoned veterans who are essentially professionals. The game gives the professionals and no lifers the advantages and best ships. Kinda like going go karting with Juan Pablo Montoya, only he takes the fastest 125cc go kart leaving you with a peddle car. Then each time he laps you he shouts "noob, git good" In all honesty I think planes is the least worst title as you get to re-spawn and camping is an impossibility. Also you get gold and premium aircraft for completing daily and weekly jobs. The only reason warplanes is good is because wargaming never really toyed, or tried to monetize it to the same extent, like they did with tanks and ships. its pretty much the same as when released but at least now they have proper joystick compatibility. I'm just a little sad as an old buddy still plays ships and we only just started talking again, I said to him I'm done with this crappy game, unfortunately this means we will probably not talk again for some time. So after less than 7 days a returning player has uninstalled this amateurish attempt at a game that smacks of last gen battle royale BS Playing a "game" should make you come away happier, less stressed and entertained not pi$$ed off and frustrated. -
Ahoy, fellow virtual seafarers, sea dogs and scallywags Disco has arrived and I'm looking for some tips and hints, I played many years ago and lost my account as i foolishly linked it to a now defunct work email for a former employer, having said that i only managed to reach tier 8 on the RU DD line and when they split i was given a tier 9. So starting over is not a big deal for me. So I don't know how long ago that was but its been quite a while since playing. I must say as a veteran of tanks i had 5 tier 10's and planes I had 3 tier 10's, I'm really enjoying this game, I'm a gentleman of a certain age and this game seems to fit the bill, it seems like a more mature and relaxed gaming experience with less toxicity than WOT for instance. The freebie's are pretty amasing, so far I've got 21 days premium, 600 gold and ill be getting a tier 3 premium ship just for logging on tomorrow. I'm seeing all these new nations and lines, this coal thing is looking good and I'm tempted to save for either the tier 6 Pan Asian dd or maybe one of the tier 10's. please advise any that are good or what to avoid, I looked on steam discussions relating to WOWS and there seemed to be a general whine about CA's which is making me tempted to get one. which is the best I had the bogue before they did this flight sim thing I wonder how many of these cry posters realise they are inadvertently advertising the next OP thing lol. Just like the outcry about the IS3A in wot or soviet bombers in planes,. I read the whines and went and got both. I'm going to stay free to play for as long as possible and I m wondering what are the easiest, most sealcubbingest and OP tech tree lines, vessels available. Many thanks in advance P.s I cant wait for subs

Many thanks guys, Just uninstalled the game Although, (Im almost sure no one from wargaming reads the forum i just thought i would state my experience as a returning player in order to provide some feedback, what the experience has been, sadly for wargaming but, less sadly for me i feel i have to relay my thoughts This really is no fun at all. losing 13 then 12 games in a row on 2 consecutive days I've simply had enough this game is not enticing for newcomers i feel a genuine lack of motivation to get better and don't see any ships that are even worth grinding for, i hit tier 9 on old account and all of the bad memories have come flooding back After a string of losses and unsatisfying wins I have decided that this game is not for me, I cant find the motivation to re learn the game or research any lines and the balance feels utterly horrific, low tier = seal clubbers high tier = cowardly island huggers, static game play and inept carrier captains. Wargaming lack the ability to make a balanced game we all know it, they know it too and maybe they'll attempt to fix these issues. but seeing as it has been they way it is for as long, I seriously doubt it. regardless of which I think its time to move onto pastures new I'm done with wargaming, we had a long relationship going back to 2013 when I 1st played tanks. I even went to a couple of tankfest events. Returning after playing many other titles from steam WG titles feel like something from a previous generation, many other games have achieved reasonable balance. If wargaming want new people to stick around.they should not create such poorly balance games an new comer should not lose 90% of games regardless of skill. Again many thanks for the encouragement from the forum guys, the one thing ships has got is a nice community Disco

Thanks again for the replies, Couldn't get online as we had a bank holiday in the UK and i mostly post whilst I'm at work Im a key worker but there is no work, still apparently im essential so I have to be in the office. Last week I moved a table and answered 2 emails! Thanks for clarifying Aldo, I was wondering where that tier 6 came from. Yes I got a huge bunch of freebies so many signals and cammo's I managed to reach tier 8 in less than 30 battles, which although fun was a little too fast. I had only 10 games on the tier 7 Pan Asian Destroyer before unlocking the tier 8 which is just wow! I remember it took weeks just to get from tier 5 to tier 7 when i played 2+ years ago. It then gave me some tier 10 rentals that are for clan wars only but I have to complete 135 games to unlock clan battles lol. I have to admit that, I did play many years ago and got to tier 9 in the RU DD line, and some of those tactics came flooding back to me, I'm playing it as a gun boat as the torp range is quite low, sniping and raining HE own on BB's its quite enjoyable. whilst dodging incoming fire. I'm thinking much like a light tank DD's become stronger towards the end of a battle and I managed to sink 2 battleships and one carrier at the end game. I will go back down the tiers but its nice to be able to "platoon" with my old buddy who has a few higher tiers. I even received a compliment from the enemy, "worthy adversary", I must say that this is one of the friendliest gaming communities I've encountered. Many thanks Disco'

Thanks so much for all the replies, I only just got back online as our work network went down last night and just came back. So it seems that their are not many op ships but op players which is a good thing, I played a few games yesterday and felt I performed quite well I managed to sink two battleships and a cruiser with the Shenyang tier 4 Pan Asian destroyer. However, I was soon the target of these pesky tier 4 aircraft carriers. I would have thought a destroyer could dodge air attack and I was sent to Davy Jones' locker. I get the frustration as we where clearly in the lead and I could have won but for some reason both my team mates decided that they wouldn't cap and we all got blitzed As a wargaming veteran, I understand that "balance" has always been an issue in their games. Subs could end up being the wheeled vehicles of WOT or high tiered Bombers in WOWP I had both and the Wheeleies made light tanks feel obsolete and tier 10 bombers where just horrible, I had a Soviet bomber and it had 78% wins after 126 battles and was clearly broken. It became apparent when ships at tier 6 was markedly harder , I will attempt to stick to the lower tiers as suggested until i can get my captains up a little higher. I'm going to go for the Pan Asian Destroyer line and British battleships . I have Warpsite tier 6 premium on 7 days rental, but upon logging in yesterday somehow its now become permanent, maybe its some training thing as I didn't get any notification, Thank you mysterious benefactor whoever you are Thanks again for the replies
