Same. We have a saying in Finnish: vale, emävale, tilasto. I.e. lie < damn lie < statistic. Every statistic is shaped by how it is collected, what assumptions went into it. WG seems to either not know or not care that their spreadsheet is not necessarily more “objective” than the qualitative experiences of players. Just easier to process.

Wish I coulda been in that match. This is one of the probs with your “dds this” and “dds that” schtick. Dds are different. A torp boat does not want to see 5 dds per side. But that’s great mm for a haida, cossack or daring. Which are the kinds of dds I play.

Depends on perspective I guess? Izumo citadel protection isn’t the best, but it is fairly well protected against HE spam. Overall I find the armor model superior to Hizen. Same with guns. Izumo guns are individually far superior to Hizen guns, so I find more sensible ab-xy turret arrangement and one turret more isnt enough compensation for what you lose. Ymmv.

Im still a very inexperienced dd player at high tier, and I manage ok in the Daring. A very fun, and fairly forgiving ship. Your concealment isn’t the best, but most things that outspot you are pretty soon going to wish they were somewhere else. The AP is bonkers, and pretty easy to use.

You... don’t? People have collected actual stats on this stuff, and afaik t7 gets uptiered more than being top tier. Furthermore, t7 as bottom tier is much rougher than t8 as bottom tier due to the reasons stated by the person whose post you quoted.

The cv can still spot the dd pack and ask for help. And, like, move its hull to seek cover and support from allies. I genuinely do not understand why CVs should be able to deal with any and all enemy ships alone. Like that was the number one fked up thing about the class, being a one man army. Isnt it good that they are dependent on others, like every other ship in the game?

Mmm. Small caliber HE pens are a big, big problem for high tier bbs.

I know how overmatch and armor thresholds work, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? You mostly eat AP pens on the belt or superstructure; he spammers tend to have vertical ballistics which is why having over 50 mm deck armor is a big deal. That plus Izumos small superstructure makes it resistant to he pen damage. srsly, go learn the game before teaching ppl about it, sensei.

Eh. The point of 32 mm vs 57 mm armor is not AP, but HE spam. Neither Izumo nor Hizen are imo pushing ships due to dreadful agility; they are kiting ships, like most high level ijn bbs. Im not sure what you mean by “camping” so ymmv.

Yeah no. Izumo is one of the tankiest, most accurate, hard hitting (amazing pen) ships at t9. Hizen is not. Their guns and armor model are decidedly different. Imo 3 more Amagi guns is not worth all the stuff Hizen gives up in contrast to Izumo.

FWIW I found Petro playstyle boring and static. Never a dull moment when cap contesting or hunting other dds...

Coulda been my story right there. It’s no use complaining about yolo suicide dds or selfish smoke farmers. In the end trying to do better (dding) yourself is the only choice you can make. For what it’s worth, don’t regret my “conversion” one little bit.

Complains about “hunter wolf” dd packs chasing his cv butt, check. Obsesses about cv secondaries being bad so cannot defend himself from said dds, check. Refuses to spot dds because “it’s not rewarding enough”, check. Do you really not see the contradiction here? Or maybe, maybe cvs need other teammates now like every other damn ship in the game and cant be an army of one anymore. Outrageous I know.

FDG players tend to be the worst window lickers, I guess Im too ready to dismiss the ship due to the average skill of the driver.

I would add that it’s not very productive to talk about “dds” as one thing. Mogador doesnt care much about visibility nerfs like growing numbers of radar, hybrid cv spotting etc, but Ijn torp boats and cap contesters do.
