Yes, the model clearly does not have depth charges. The only thing that means is that WG art department or whoever just didn't put them in there; it's a paper ship, so it's characteristics can certainly change. Moreover, the Okhotnik (afaik) was designed to carry mines, so why not depth charges? Furthermore, the real life characteristics of the ship are not really a very good argument, e.g. a lot of the models/ships had radar IRL but not in the game for obvious balance reasons. And, again, I emphasise that this is a paper ship, so IRL isn't really a good argument.

Every other premium DD that I know of, at T5+, has received depth charges. This is not a good explanation IMO. (except for Cossack/Sims B, where they already clarified that it was an oversight and they will be added)

I assume you're referring to me here? I take exception at your post and the way you've characterised it. They add ASW to literally every single other DD from T5 onwards, and then tell me that it's not a direct nerf because the ship itself was not changed. Do you think that it's excessive that I'm upset about a nerf to a ship I love and that I paid money for? Lacking ASW on a cruiser/BB is unfortunate, but not crucial. DDs are the class that is supposed to deal with subs, and now one single DD cannot do that job. Edit: I note that they have added ASW to all other premium DDs, and the ones where they are missing they have clarified were bugs (i.e. Sims B, Cossack B), so it does not appear to be a case of being careful in buffing premiums.

1. I agree, at this point it is not a massive nerfs. I could have phrased myself more clearly, so I will try again. My concerns are, that when subs are added to randoms, or when/if we get T5 subs, this will make Okhotnik considerably worse against a whole class of ships than literally every other DD in the game (that can see subs, i.e. T5+). 2. While what you are saying is true in the literal sense (i.e. the characteristics of the ship have not been changed), it is a nerf to any sane and reasonable person if you buff in a major way every single ship of the same type and tier except for this one single DD. 3. Can you please provide a reasoning for this massive nerf? (with the assumption that Okhotnik will continue to be nerfed when Subs hit randoms)

The Okhotnik is apparently the only relevant DD in the game that does not have ASW weapons. Because it's so OP.

I'm pretty sure they left the depth charges out of the Okhotnik by oversight, and Yabba either doesn't know the answer or is sparing WG's blushes. While Okhotnik is a pretty good DD when played right, it doesn't hold a candle to, e.g., Kamikaze or Gremyaschy which have depth charges (I believe). So it's more a quesiton of whether a. WG can admit a mistake and b. is willing to put in dev resources to fix it, for a not super popular T5 DD that won't make them much in sales.

In fact, is Okhotnik then the only DD in the entire game that can face subs (i.e. no T2-4 DDs), and has no depth charges? There has to be some pretty hefty reasoning beyond such a massive nerf, so again I ask, why?

Can someone who has more T5 DDs check if all of the other T5 DD premiums and tech tree ships that they have have depth charges? I want to be absolutely sure about this before reaching for my pitchforks. Because if you give a new, pretty important capability to literally every other ship of the same tier and type, then that is most definitely a nerf to a premium. Because the Okhotnik was so OP that it clearly needed a nerf?

Going to be fun taking my Cossack B (which is my most played ship in T8 ranked I think) into ranked with no ASW capability :).

Like, I really, really want a proper answer here. If Okhotnik is the only T5 DD without depth charges, that means a potentially pretty massive nerf to a premium that I have paid for. I'm not really even sure you can call it an indirect nerf. considering the situation. @YabbaCoe

Not so fast! Laying mines was apparently an intregral part of the vodka-haze napkin dream that is the Okhotnik. Why not depth charges too :P. Edit: I can confirm that Cossack B does not have depth charges; however, the model does include them.

I've done a few games with U-69 (T6 German sub) in co-op. I can't escape the feeling that subs really don't belong in this game at all. I imagine it's what playing a CV is like - the game experience is very different from playing a surface ship, and not really in an interesting or fun way. Mostly you just sonar ping and snipe at surface ships, and stay hidden while other people do your spotting for you. It's a passive playstyle, and I can only imagine how boring it is for the surface ships when you can't shoot at 4 out of 9 enemy ships (as in co op right now it's basically 3 subs and usually a CV per team).

I got a whole bunch of Rumbles and Bumblebees without spending a cent. That Bumblebee voiceover is annoying as f*ck.

Yes, this is nothing new. I linked the video not because this is a new concept that hasn't been brought up (even in this thread, several times), but because iEarlGrey explains the whole issue very well.

I suggest you watch this, if you haven't. It explains clearly and concisely that this game is not made for us, the veteran players. We are not the main customers, therefore our opinions don't really carry much weight. The return on investment is not good enough; let's face it, we are demanding customers, and if they can get much more return by just farming whales with a constant stream of lazy premium ships, they will do it.

I've been watching iEarlGrey too. I can't shake the feeling that he would be ttly fine with all of the horrible stuff he is pointing out if he just happened to still be on the company dime. Guys comes off as pretty slippery.

To me it seems that PQ is trying to become a CC. He is far less critical than he used to be. I also stopped watching his vids. Not out of some kind of protest, but because the content just wasn't that interesting in the long run.

Maybe you should educate yourself before posting stuff about that streamer, then. Or, you know, continue being 3dgy by telling us you’re not familiar with the celebrities of the game you play. You do you.
