If they add it for doubloons or free xp, then it's the same thing as far as I am concerned. i.e. you can buy it fair and square if you want, or gamble if you really are that stupid; I would be kind of fine with that. We'll see.

I called it in another thread - they will back off from the Missouri random bundle thing, and that's it. What remains to be seen is whether this will discourage them from leaning so hard into the gambling/surprise mechanics in the future. Nothing else will change, but no one expected it to. There is an old saying, "the fish rots from the head down". How could WG ever change its culture when the people responsible for it are the ones who make the decisions?

Tbf, this is something that we need. I wish there was more content on tech tree lines, how they measure up, how to play them, and how they fare in the current meta.

What would it be? Who knows. They would probably have to prosecute the matter in your home jurisdiction, which might not even have a comparable legal concept to defamation (I'm assuming you're not in the US). As for the consequences... Yeah, I'm sure they will be swift, terrible and certain.

I expect they are referring to the possibility of a defamation law suit. That said, big defamation lawsuits are afaik more of an US thing than something we see in Europe. For example in Finland you can't be guilty of defamation (as a criminal charge) if you "defame" a company. The Finnish version of defamation is "kunnianloukkaus", i.e. literally "insulting someone's honour". According to Finnish law and court practice, companies do not have honour that can be insulted. I'm thinking that goes double for certain gaming companies :P.

That's not quite what I was saying - though I understand the confusion, as I did not clearly write what I meant and you are not a mind reader. Yuro probably should be removed from the CC program. He broke the rules, he should go. What I find a little ugly is the public pile on and calls for blood. Partly because I was a part of it, and at least for me it was based more on the desire to see WG lose their biggest remaining CC than because of the admittedly stupid/bad things Yuro did.

I'm not sure I agree tbh. It might just show you that he/she is childish and inconsiderate. Having examined my own priorities, I don't think the call to lynch Yuro is fair or necessary, and I suspect it is for many of us driven by the desire to see WG lose their ?last? high subscriber CC. And that is, fundamentally, not a Yuro issue. That said, Yuro needs to reflect on his language and behaviour; and I am sure he is reflecting. He has been outed and shamed. I think that's enough. edit: just to clarify, the apology left a lot to be desired. But even if he wasn't sorry at that point, I am sure this episode has had already, and will have in the future plenty enough consequences for him to keep it fresh in mind.

At least some of the data is probably available from companies registers/tax records, if one really wanted to dig into it. I don't care enough, plus you do have to pay for those documents (albeit not much), plus they might be in foreign languages.

Profits don't mean anything when you're looking at a group of companies, you can manipulate where and how much you show profit. I would be more interested in turnover for WOWS.

If you believe Jingles, the CCs were listened to when the product was young, because WG needed them. There was a symbiotic relationship - the CCs got a boost, content, and the feeling that they were valued, whereas WG got access to their audience. The CCs are no longer needed, because the game has a sustainable player base without the CCs, so the relationship was no longer useful to WG. I think part of the hurt feelings here are the old guard whose expectations were set by that early period, and are disappointed with what the CC program turned into. From that perspective, their upset is very understandable.

Ditto. If anyone knows who to complain to about running an unauthorised gambling operation, please drop me a line (or drop it here, which would be even more useful). I love the game, but these scummy practices need to stop. Provide us with (digital) products, and we will either pay for them or not, depending on if we consider the good worth the payment. Stop with the random bundles and surprise mechanics. And I say this as a fairly well off person without an addictive personality or particular gambling problems.

Why are you holding forth on an issue that, by your own words, you are not familiar with? If you had carried out even the most cursory investigation of what exactly Yuro has been saying, and in what context, you would understand that your little psychoanalysis here is not exactly on the mark. Or do you think stuff like "it's hard to convince advertisers to have their ads shown on a video with f_____ in it" (men who like men), or "I'll purge the j___" (people of the Hebrew race), or repeated uses of the N word over the course of three years the result of some off the spur passion?

While personal data and privacy are connected issues, they are not the same thing. GDPR is concerned with personal data. What personal data in particular did the posts contain? Maybe there was a legal basis for the processing of any personal data in that message, if there was any 3. I wish people would get even a basic understanding of the EU personal data regime before bringing it up every time they need a big digital club to hit people with in an online discussion

Many things are obvious in hindsight, nothing new under the sun :P.

I personally found his videos very entertaining, to a large degree because of how well made they were - the integration of video, visual effects, music and off-beat humour was appealing. This is why I find this whole thing disappointing, because I really did like Yuro's content. So much for that.

As a sidenote, I think it's pretty much a testimony to the kind of language Yuro used on a regular basis, that it's essentially impossible to even discuss the matter here without breaking the Forum TOS. As some unknown genius said on Reddit in response to Yuro's defenders, "I wonder what place 'let's purge all the j___' " has in a modern discussion'. (btw, find the concept of Yuro being unaware of Western culture/values absolutely laughable given that he seemed to be deeply versed in Western/American culture, and was quite evidently thoroughly a creature of 4chan/meme-o-sphere)
