DDS: Cossack is good. That said, I am a little hesitant to recommend the ball sack, as a sidegrade that isn't fundamentally different can be had for free (Lightning). Cossack might be marginally better (especially against other DDs), but only marginally - Lightning is still a great DD. Asashio is very good (although not in ranked), and will probably be available for dubs on black friday in two months. Harekaze I is very, very good, but you do need to wait for the next High School Fleet collab (if/when it comes). Loyang is well regarded, particularly in ranked, as is Kidd. I have neither, so no personal experience there, but they can be quite formidable opponents. BBs: All of the available T8 premiums are kind of meh? Kii is an Amagi sidegrade, the Alabama is a. boring/generic and b. not really better than the tech tree North Carolina. Tirpitz caters to a specific taste, but IMO the Bismarck is better due to the hydro, and as others mentioned the Pommern is a better Tirpitz at T9, and can be had for free. If you really want a great T8 premium BB, just wait for the Massachusetts to become available. Cruisers: Don't really play them, so don't have an opinion. That said, pretty much everyone things the Atago is a great, well rounded cruiser.

From my POV (i.e, that of someone playing against these ships), this is the only part of this line that makes it tolerable - a real vulnerability. The infuriating thing about Smokeks is that you can't even push/torp them because of their hydro + torpedoes. That said, looking at it from the POV of line design (as someone who might play them), the lack of hydro does make the whole concept questionable. Perhaps more a line of anchorages than smolensks.

I would be very surprised if it wasn't DWT, given that that is the pan-Asian gimmick, and that Irian and Wukong have DWTs.

My condolences :(. I got the Mikoyan for free from some event, and it wasn't worth even the zero EURO/dubs that it cost me. It actively upsets me to see that POS in my port (but not enough to sell it, or I might get another one).

Anyone who's been playing clan wars know what the deal is. Two CVs, 3-4 Huanghes with maybe a kiting cruiser thrown in for comic relief, and maybe a DD. The entire match you have four squadrons of planes buzzing all over the map, dropping fighters, AA going off non stop. Nothing is visible, except for slowly creeping smoke clouds firing at other smoke clouds, or maybe at the battleship or non-smoke cruiser of some hapless clan that didn't get the memo. This makes me fondly remember the T10 soviet cruiser stare fests of the previous season. What a gorram shipshow. Super engaging. Super fun. Anyway, a few predictions: -Huanghe will get limited to 1 per team (maybe Perth as well?) -Ruyju and maybe EL will be limited to 1 per team or one of them might even get banned -what else? (edit: lol, and Graf Spee is banned because that would have made for very boring comps )

Same tbh. I dislike the low survivability of the thing, especially as it gets focused like crazy when spotted. Give me Yamato any day of the week.

Anchorage. What a useless bag of 5hit. At least I didn't make the same mistake twice (no D7P for me). I have to wonder that someone wrote "Haida" here. It's one of the only T7s that isn't powercrept. Amazing gunpower, workable gimmicks (long duration hydro + long duration rolling smoke), amazing concealment.

I suspect that the "fix" is not simple, because they changed how torpedoes work on a more fundamental level than we know with the introduction of subs. Their "fix" was to jury rig a different way for torps to work (linking them to either gun heading or mouse view, depending on who you ask) in an effort to get around their previous problems. I suspect a simple rollback to actually working torps (i.e. pre subs) cannot be done without fundamentally breaking subs, and they probably don't want to do that until the sub test in ranked/co-op is finished. Just my 2 cents/logical inferences.

The roles of the ships are so different that the comparison is pretty much pointless. As I and several others have pointed out, a more fitting point of comparison is the Izumo. And, tbh, I would rather play the Izumo than the Hizen. While the Izumo handles like a dead whale, it does have pretty amazing survivability and guns, which is what I look for in a mid/long range BB (which the Hizen also is, imo). In terms of its role, the only big weakness the Izumo has is that it's not Musashi. Therefore even a good ship is destined to mediocrity in comparison to that brainfart of a vessel.

Getting to ranked 1 is easy and pleasant in comparison to what awaits you there (Qualification). Having gone through both silver and gold qualification this season, all I can say is Godspeed good sir.

I dunno, most of the dockyard ships have been pretty meh? I had low expectations, and I was not disappointed. You just have to temper your expectations. If a ship is going to be any good, it's going to be: RB / Steel / Coal (in pretty much that order, in terms of how good/interesting a ship is)
