I don't think that's true though, at least in the average game? CVs don't spend their time countering the other CV, but rather every other ship on the enemy team. With subs, the counter is probably subs. But is that "rock paper scissors" when your "rock" counters both itself and every other class?

A follow up on the Yukon debacle....
arttuperkunas replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
I don't think it's particularly useful to talk about "selling out" in any case. My impression is that LWM and Chobi did not set out on some great crusade, or seek to burn down WG and change their nasty ways. It was something that circumstances forced on them. They were looking for a graceful way out, a satisfactory compromise in which everyone could save face; and WG just stubbornly refused to give that to them. Now apparently they have found a way to move on, and that's a good thing. Chobi and LWM still play the game, and at least LWM wants to keep creating content relating to the game. In the real world, it's not a question of "did the good guys win and the bad guys lose", but rather "did life continue without further catastrophes". -

Just imagine, several cv players have been needlessly reported due to your actions. The horror... the horror... -
They will get around to it when they finish balancing subs and CVs. AHAhahahhahahAHHAhahahAHahha

Kearsarge is not the second coming of a Georgia
arttuperkunas replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
It is imo not an easy ship to play. Due to the armor you wanna play at mid-long range, but impacting the battle at long range, particularly with norcal shell flight times, is challenging. The planes provide great team utility thanks to spotting. Overall it’s hard to carry particularly in short games - great ship in longer, more balanced, drawn out games though. Good luck finding those. -
IWM response to concerns about games room on HMS Belfast

That's pretty funny. If you want to farm some salt, drop Flamuu a line with that, I'm sure he would gleefully turn it into entertainment. (and don't feel obliged to keep it private - I'm pretty sure "Michael" is not a real person) -
1st 3 of losing team get counted as winner, last 3 of winning team vice versa

Im pretty sure most of us would agree that that formula is not exactly satisfactory, and favours damage farming over other things. -

Nnnnnno. Sometimes as a DD player, you spend your game spotting and enabling other ships to win the match. You change the system like this, and those team players would get punished (even more). It's bad enough you don't really get XP or credits for that kind of contribution. -

Use islands to control vision, and do what @ColonelPete suggested. Compare your concealment circle to the cap circle; contest if it’s smaller. If you push a low conceal, low gunpower boat in a cap, yoy may force them to pop smoke and/or run away. Ironically, understanding of vision mechanics is even more crucial to mediocre concealment dds than ninja dds.

I love my Yammy, it's my favourite t10 BB and quite possibly my favourite BB full stop. And I'm not saying she isn't competitive. But there are lots of divisions in which I would prefer a different BB that is more agile/can better push at an earlier part of the game.
-
Eh, SinOP is still massively OP. It just sees more Tier 9 these days, which is not a great environment for that ship. But then again, it's not a great environment for any T7 BB.
-
Same for me. I hated Nagato, because imo its playstyle is suited to sniping. Amagi can do it all... great kiter and a very good brawler as well.
-
I don't think that was his point. I imagine he was more saying that Yamato is not an optimal div ship, which I would agree with. Both Elbing and Yammy are good ships, but not necessarily great team play ships. IMO (and I am far from unicum stats; but I do play almost exclusively in divs) you tend to want ships that have complementary engagement ranges, that support each other and can push at the same time. Yammy is not great for that.
-
Leander is a good ship. Unfortunately, she is quite difficult to play in tier 8 matchmaking, which is what you will see much of the time. You need to play close to the enemy to be effective in British CLs, moving behind islands deploying smoke optimally, constantly keeping track of where the enemy battleships are. To be honest, I don't think you're going to do very well in Leander with around 300 matches in random battles, because playing the British CL line requires not just skill with light cruisers, but things like very good map awareness, knowledge of enemy ships, and just... experience. And all of that takes time to develop. Don't feel discouraged. If you do feel it's too hard, just take a slightly easier line, like kiting cruisers, and get back to the Leander when you have more mid-tier/high-tier random battles under your belt.
-
The survey is IMO well worded and comprehensive. I am cynical whether it will affect anything, but at least they're asking the right questions.
-
You're not wrong... That said, most of us who do play divisions wouldn't play this game at all if division play wasn't possible. It would also quite likely kill what's left of the competitive scene and the clans. So while I understand and agree with your point, a lot of us would straight up not play this game anymore if they changed how randoms works.

Tier IX Neustrashimy: Why is it the most expensive and is it worth it?

One of the best t9 dds imo -
Thank you @YabbaCoe. I know it's not something you can promise to deliver, because it's not in your hands, but I appreciate you making the effort. I'm sorry that we're grilling you here; it's not intended to be personal. You are our only point of contact with WG on this, and the purpose is not to "fight you" but to make sure our voices are heard.
-
@YabbaCoe Ok can we get back to this. You told me that the reason Okhotnik does not have ASW is historical, not balance. After that, it turned out that you were (it seems) confusing the Okhotnik we have in game with a completely different, historical ship. Does the Okhotnik still lack ASW due to historical reasons, and if so, what reasons are those?
-
I played one game in which I remember a sub being somehow relevant. I was right next to it/on top of it, and I couldn't do anything to that. It was frustrating. Who could have imagined that this might happen if you give a ship no counterplay?
-
I mean the Okhotnik we have in game is a napkin development of the Izyaslav class, which was only launched in I think 1915? And the Okhotniks that actually served in the Russian navy were launched well before WW1. This is very, very confusing
-
huh? Okhotnik class destroyers as per the game were never in Russian service, afaik? The Okhotnik class layed down in 1905-1906 is a completely different design that doesn't have anything to do with the Okhotnik we have in game. Can you see why we find this historical argument odd, @YabbaCoe
