  1. Well, it's a game situation (or more the state of the game currently, anyways), so I think this counts. Another match decided by the matchmaker before it could even begin. No CV, one Radar cruiser per side - so not nearly enough to pick up the slack caused by this difference in DD skill level. Played out exactly like the other 80%+ of ROFLstomps that make up the current random games. And the worst thing? It was actually one of the tamer match-ups I've seen over the last few weeks.

Public Test - Megathread for rewards & updates

Sooo, not quite sure if it is a bug, so I'm not posting in the bug reports thread but here: According to other players their premium ships carried over from their main accounts. I do not have a single one of my premiums in port on the test server, however, even though I followed the instructions to install a second instance of the game via Wargaming Center. The account name fits, it even displays the same amount of Premium days left, so I'm pretty sure that I am indeed using my account. My question now: Did I somehow miss a step of synchronising at some point? (Couldn't find anything about that online, though) Is this a case for the support or should I file a bug report? Bit confused here. Cheers, Konigsburg
  3. Italian BBs. Whoever was in charge of balancing those should be reassigned, put in therapy, or better yet, both. Their so called 'upsides' are little gimicks that at best make you survive for a little bit longer (smoke) or exchange HE for the overall worse SAP. The offensive side in general ranges between 'non-existent' and 'mediocre because you got really [edited]lucky this game, both in terms of matchmaking and sigma/dispersion'. Mostly it reaches a level of '4 or 5 tiers lower this might be okay-ish'. Why? Let's just summarize: Reload is worse than everyhing except the Kansas->Vermont line, but their guns at least shoot far, hit hard and are precise. Which brings me to the next point. Precision. I once thought the Monarch and Bismarck were kind of bad. No, in comparison they are downright accurate. When you fire a full broadside at an equally broadside, stationary BB at below 5km and all of your shells either splash down in front of the target, overshoot by miles or even miss to the left and right, then something is awry indeed. When that is the rule rather than the exception, you arrive where Italian BBs are at. Next point: range - just about everything outranges you, including many cruisers. Doesn't really matter in the end though, because at extreme distances I sincerely doubt these ships could even hit an island 20 times the size of a Yamato. Last point: Penetration and damage. Against anything of T7 and below you can dish out some decent damage, but everything above that... ha, ha, ha, no. Your AP is crappy and the SAP, when it miraculously hits a ship, will do a bit of damage IF and only if you actually double down on the miracle and hit less armored areas like bow, stern or superstructure. Good luck doing that reliably though. Summed up, these wastes of credits and port slots perform best when smoke-charging and ramming enemy BBs, because that is literally the only reliable way of dealing damage in them.

Update 0.9.9. U.S. Battleships in Early Access

Yes, let's put some random (or not, who can really say?) players at a disadvantage for no apparent reason other than to see how much [edited] people will put up with and continue to pay you. From a scientific and sociological standpoint certainly somewhat interesting. From a marketing POV... are you bloody serious? It is free stuff people are a) used to getting that b) does not cost you anything as there is no real world cost involved. You do not need to wait and see how people will react, as that really is basic psychology/sociology. Just pick up any introduction to the topic. Resentment towards those who keep them from that little bit of positive reinforcement as well as towards those not affected by the same arbitrariness. In case you haven't noticed - even the announcement evokes discontent unproportional to the actual impact of the measure. Between this, the early concepts of the research bureau and other decisions... please hand the people responsible some literature on reactions and group dynamics in the face of percieved and actual unfair treatment, will you? It might save yourselves and the community a bunch of headaches in the future.

    Submarines - first impressions

First impression... "Hey, let's introduce a class that simply cannot be hurt by MORE THAN 50% of all ships in the game, if the person driving it has even a shred of competence." Who let the intern on his first day create the concept behind this? Seriously, you take the issue that players have with CVs and then INCREASE IT FURTHER? Two wrongs don't make a right...

0.9.0 - British cruisers: Early Access

Completed all directives, did all daily missions so far, and... nope. Not a single cruiser in sight, instead lots of stuff which I already have way more of then I'll ever use. Really glad I didn't renew my premium time now. An intern could design a better reward system durng a cigarette break than what WG has done this time. Really, with no event at all, I'd probably have bought another few months of premium time. But this? Nope

    Rotten Potatoes

Just about any glance at the matchmaking monitor in the last days showed the same: deep red colored stats everywhere, players with thousands of matches who apparently can't achieve average damage values equal to one decent salvo of their ship even after a few hundred games with it, players in the double digit range of matches driving around in T8 or T9 premiums and losing fights against their own ships and the surrounding islands, nevermind the opponents - you know the types. Other ingame behaviour is equally baffling. All DDs driving to one side and then complaining when the other flank folds after being taken apart by enemy DDs who can spot and torp freely. Cruisers activating Hydro when a single look at the map shows that nothing with torps is anywhere near, nor is there an island in the vicinity behind which an enemy could lurk. BBs trying to slug it out broadside with full health BBs two tiers above them with predictable results. Summed up: The amount of mistakes that are so basic anyone with the capability to read the information provided by the game ("What does hydroacustic search do?") or a basic sense of causal chains (BB is broadside -> lots of damage taken -> bad idea) should be able to avoid them is simply staggering. My personal take on a possible solution would be mandatory tutorials to game mechanics. Nothing overly fancy or difficult, but simply something that forces people to THINK about the relevant mechanics at least one time: - You reach tier 3? Learn about angling and broadsides by having to sink a stationary bot in a BB with your own BB at 1/2 health, only AP allowed. - You get to a Tier where you may meet radar ships? Great, here is a map with a few bots with radar constantly active, you get a DD and have to get to the enemy base without getting spotted. It would take just a few minutes, but it might just help a few players understand a few core mechanics and concepts and ultimately save others a lot of frustration and/or anger. In the end this IS a team game, and frankly, if you refuse to learn even the basics after having played for months or even years, you should probably stick to single player games or - for WOWS - Co-Op.

    Disconnecting after game finishes

If it was only a disconnect... just had a game with my Gnevny to get my Snowflake (which we won by a clear margin). No end screen, as usual, but instead of a disconnect I was returned to port - no report of a battle, Snowflake still there. Directives still unupdated, as well. Always nice if a totally over-the-top grind is further complicated by bugs. -.-
  9. I am deeply astounded at how a developer company that relies not only on whales (for the money) but also on non-premium users (to provide content in the form of enough people to play with) can even consider adding a feature that screws with the most essential part of a game this much - balance. I mean, there are a few issues with balance already - the lively discussions about how CVs should impact the game and if certain ships you cannot buy anymore are too overpowered prove this - but overall that is something that can be tolerated. CVs are very much a work in progress and it has become clear that WG is trying to find a working balance, even if people shake their heads about the way they go about it. The OP premium issue is something most players seem to grudgingly accept, if only because people tend to focus down those ships in most matches. It also helps that these ships do not influence Tier X matches in any meaningful way, and this is after all the apex of the grind - the point many look forward to reaching with one, two or even a lot of ships. If there are some speedbumps along the way, so be it. Now however, a feature is anounced that would introduce the same issue to this vaunted top tier. It won't be about those who had the fortune of buying a certain ship at a certain time, but rather those who have the time (and money) to regrind certain lines one or more times. They will be the ones who have a clear advantage over others, and this time it will be in the endgame stage that so many seek to reach. What will you do as a new player who has finally managed to acquire his first tier X ship only to find that others who possess the allegedly same ship have an inherent advantage that has nothing to do with skill? An advantage you could only possibly negate after months, if not years of grinding while suffering from precisely that disadvantage? The answer is simple - you will deinstall the game. If you even came this far because everyone and their grandmother will warn you about the mess you are about to enter even before you install the game in the first place. As for me, I will do the same if this harebrained scheme survives the player feedback. My only regret then will be to leave those I like to play with, but maybe some of them will tag along to another game. I certainly cannot imagine that more than a handful would willingly stay once the proposed feature becomes certain.
