played once in Ryu (kinda cheat mode for me) sunk a sub wit an AP boom smack da middle. Probably was out of battery or smth as I had me eye on him sneaking around for quite a while, but overall pretty dangerous little ships that can wreck havoc when the skill rises. I think the big visible ships are even more of a disadvantage rn. Cruisers need to be able to give helping hand to deal with the threats. I don't think available dd captains can handle the load (wit the usual notable exceptions.) Only one game ofc, game is getting even more difficult for casuals it seems. That is my overall opinion.

You need prem account, or premium ship or camo. You need flags. You need to have a good game.

How is you being there (a 'bad' player) brings yr team down? You are one of 12 players. Unless you are in a dd or a CV, you can't harm yr team so fatally. This means that every one of the other players or most are in same situation as you and that is not random. While it may appear balanced, in my eyes it is not. What it shows (and this isn't a certain ofc) is the MM is programmed to 'balance' out win or losing streaks to around 50%. This again is not random. It does it by putting more 'average' players in one of the teams in some kind of order to even it out, avoiding the more normal way which would be to put roughly the same amount of them in each team every time or when possible. It shows preference. Again not random. It is programmed this way. Probably as we don't know all the whys for 'easy access' reasons. It gives the machine an out, when trying to make the teams, it shoves all rocks available in one sack, all bananas one the other. Probably it uses less cycles in this way. Again this is a hypothesis. But I never believed it was random. It has programmed criteria in it, like for example the number of games you will play uptiered and many others.

Thing is I don't want to pile up losses for no reason. If its for testing with no consequences I'll grab Ryu and give it a spin :)

Protect one of your sides with rock and point all yr guns the other way, assuming that way is an enemy advance pathway. Make them come out the open to flame you. It is one way to play it I won't argue. But not all games are the same. Getting burned seems harsh but perhaps you need to pull a bit back. I don't think any ship shoots further than you. Use that and terrain. Use yr teamates as bait. Send a cruiser in. Picking a good controlling spot on the map is crucial I think. But it is what it is. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I'm more worried about dds in the Yami than anything else. I know a glimpse of the enemy is enough for his deletion. Few ships offer that reassurance.

Man switch to co op for bit. It happened to me in summer, got numerous bans, lost WR, got ulcer, fought wit the waifu (mostly the other way around), (re)started smokin, gave up on the game for a month etc. Now I just play one per day and if (either ranked or random) pick a good ship and win or lose I immediately stop and switch to ops for a while. It is not the best advice, but I'm pretty happy and I even got karma above 30, which for a chronic zero karma owner (or minus) is like a miracle. I also avoided bans completely. (instead of today which I got a 2 gamer for torping a friendly that wanted to ram instead of shooting. I thought he was not that brave, may bad. It was a gut kill, both him and enemy died and I took it without complain. Sorry mate, I upvoted you despite you reporting me, its all gut :)

With its flaws, Wows is the best ship sim I've ever played with the exception of the SH3 which was subs specific

Just try to stay calm and play your game trying to utilize yr team as meat shields and targets for the enemy. It's a crap shoot what you'll get anyways.
