No comparison whatsoever. I have just started playing the game and I am still learning. He is an accomplished player. I can just play DDs at a marginally acceptable level. Actually, I can only play and somewhat perform in only 4 ships. Our friend performs at a super unicum level in all classes. The distance between us is huge. It took me about 4 months to learn how to do damage. First and foremost (and I will insist on that) you have to learn to survive. This does not mean hide! You have to remain stealthy and be productive. Namely, spot for your team, find and keep the enemy DD spotted so your cruisers and battleships can kill it, screen for your capital ships and provide early warning for torpedoes and locations of dangerous enemy ships. You must also capture and defend objectives. Do not underestimate the value of a cap. Keep it for three minutes and you gave your team 100 points. The same value as killing a battleship. This is why I urged you to start at T4. It has preferential MM and your opponents are closer to your level. This is a good learning ground. Get the Isokaze and learn how to be stealthy and how to use your torpedoes from stealth. Learn how to dodge shells and torpedoes. Learn how to approach a ship and launch your torpedoes in such a way that you will minimize the ability of your target to avoid them. Learn how to use the features of the map to your advantage. Learn proper timing for pushing or defending. Regards Saltface

DD rule No. 1: Don't die DD rule No. 2: Read rule No. 1 Early game you have to contest caps (with rule No. 1 in mind) and spot for your team. OFC targets of opportunity are welcome. Mid game you have either to defend a flank and delay the push of the reds, or help your own team push (with rule No. 1 in mind) Late game is where you shine and win the game for your team. Stay alive and win the games for your team. The team that has DDs alive late match usually wins. Always observe rule No. 1 Here is my last battle. Just see why I say stay alive. 20190701_000108_PJSD025-True-Kamikaze_46_Estuary.wowsreplay

Dear @NoobySkooby If you want to learn DD the first thing you need to learn is how not to be seen. I will agree with most of what the above friends said, however, before you jump to T6 I would suggest you do a bit of ground work. Get the Isokaze and learn how to position yourself, how to set up a good torp salvo and above all how NOT TO BE SEEN. The Isokaze is a good teacher. By going to higher tiers you will not learn but instead you will get frustrated. I strongly advise to start with torpedo boats rather than gun boats. A gun boat will be exposed to more dangers than a torpedo boat. That is what I believe would work best for you. Regards Saltface P.S. The advise given to me when I wanted to learn DD play is in the following thread. It is a really good read

Could be so. But, and it is a big but... Give me the option. Let me chose if I want AI to handle my AA with whatever results or stick a LTP sign on my forehead and let me take over my AA so I can react and counter at my own abilities and volition. What would this bring to the table? Anyone complaining about CVs would get an immediate answer. GET MANUAL AA Anyone claiming his manual AA doesn't have good results would be answered by GID GUD or LTP I totally agree with you that the problem is that there is no counterplay No matter how good I get I can't fight you back If my AA was manual I would have less arguments. Now my only solution is to spend hours in the training rooms flying planes and trying to see what I can do as a surface ship to minimize damage or to avoid detection. As I get more used to CVs I realize that if the CV player is any good I m good as sunk. Anyway, for as long as this iteration lasts my Fletcher and my Grozovoi are more fun.

Indeed all kinds. One is a bird, the other is a feline and the other a donkey.

I positioned at the center of a cap zone on the Ocean map my ship and I measured the ticks between two buoys. Allowing for a margin of error (my eyes, the screen etc.) I measured the ticks between two buoys to be 19.2. Keep this number in mind. The cap zone had 64 buoys hence each buoy is at an angular distance of A = 360 / 64 = 5.625 deg (or 0.981 radians) for an observer positioned at the center of the cap. This is irrespective to the size of the circle. Knowing also that A= 19.2 Ticks we can calculate that each tick is 0.2929 Degrees. We know A and d so it is easy to calculate D = 0.3534 Km If we knew D and d we could calculate A. A= D * 360 / 2πd If we assume that A is our Lead (see where I am taking you?) d is our distance to target and D is the distance the target has traveled during the flight time of our shell then we can calculate exactly the Lead. Lets test now the hypothesis of the rumor that the dynamic cross hair is calibrated for a target moving with 30 Kts at 15 Km. I tested the Kutuzov and the Hipper. The Kutuzov needs 9.6 sec for 15 Km shot and the Hipper needs 8.63 sec for the same shot. With the Kutuzov math calculates you have to lead by 10 ticks and the with Hipper by 9 ticks. I repeated the measurements for various distances with the Hipper. It appears that the results are consistent. No matter what the distance of the target. There is a systematic error of 4.6% for both ships and for all distances meaning that you need to lead a little bit more. This also depends on the time dilation used in the game. The 4.6% is calculated with a time dilation of 520% The Russian sites give 520% - I calculated 510%. If I am correct then the error (which is systematic) will drop to 2.6% Now, if time dilation was 500% the systematic error would go down to 0.5% and figures would be actually equal. (time and ticks) This error (0.5%) is most probably due to errors in my measurements. It seems that the dynamic cross-hair is calibrated for a target doing 30Kts and uses a time dilation of 500% for its calibration while the game uses something like 520%. CONCLUSION Better do it with intuition as I do it.

Minimap not working after update??
Saltface replied to ___V_E_N_O_M___'s topic in General Discussion
Poor me and I thought it was the main map you have to look at if you are to understand what on earth is going on, who is where, where are they going, have a strategic overview of the game and in two words develop situational awareness. Kind Sir @Jethro_Grey, you have been trolled. LOL Warmest and friendliest regards Saltface -

The return of the DD’s. Well, the bad ones anyway
Saltface replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
So what now? My Grozovoi will be effective against CV? LOL or she will be a DD hunter again? Nahhhh...just see now how DDs will be less. Current AA meta makes CVs lose planes, so early match they will adapt and go against DDs that have weak AA. They will wait for mid to late when AA mounts are damaged and more ships are "lonely" As DDs have adapted now CVs will adapt -
in the news today "In the upcoming episode we'll tell you about U.S.S. Cod—one of 77 Gato-class submarines that were built."
